Had to pay $30 for parking, the wifi was wierd and they say they have breakfast. It was $15 a person and was literally the type of breakfast other hotels provide for free. Nice rooms though and friendly staff.

Beware - Daily parking is $30. additional. No vending machines, but convenience bar next to restaurant has $6.00 drinks and snacks. Shower head in King Size room had removable wand that was awkward for standard shower use. A/C system was very comfortable in room. Parking charge is a big downer!

Staff was not helpful at check-in. Requests that were made prior to check in were not fulfilled. The restaurant was randomly closed and front desk staff had no idea if it would be open the next morning. The shower had visible mildew around all of the edges. The electrical outlet in the bathroom was loose and had to be held to unplug the hair dryer. Have been staying at this property for almost 1 1/2 years off and on, and there are more issues each time.

Nice hotel. The breakfast though needs improvement. I got coffee and French toast.
It was not up to par. I left it after the 2nd bite. The coffee was not great either.
Lots of room for improvement there.

The Hilton is in a great location if you're planning on going to US Bank for a concert. The check-in process took a bit longer than I wanted but it worked out. We had 2 rooms and I had called ahead of time to try and get adjoining rooms but it didn't work out. They were right next to each other so that was fine. We walked about 8 minutes to the light rail to get to our concert and had no issues.

Checking in was a nightmare. Somehow you're supposed to pull into the covered front door area, but both sides were stopped and at the front desk to check in, so you either have to wait on the road or park on the road which is limited and not close to the hotel. Once we got in, the line was long (to be expected because there was an event at the US Bank Stadium), but the computers crashed, so we had to wait even longer. Also, you need to pay $30 just to park in their ramp. The ramps is extremely tight fitting. I thought there was a continental breakfast, but their wasn't. There were no towels in the pool area first thing in the morning, so it's not like they ran out, they just never stocked them. The rooms were good, except there was mold or something black in the corners of the shower. The light rail was close which was nice, but it would have been nice if they had a map or something at the hotel. I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

The lack of staff made it difficult. Room didnt get cleaned and we had to go get fresh towels and bedding for the pull out couch. Restraint wasn’t hardly open due to lack of staff. For the price per night it would have been nice to have everything stocked and functional

March 21 stay – serious safety concern.

I booked two rooms for six adults through Hotels.com at Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area. They have stayed at this hotel previously and chose it again because of its close proximity to the university. Check-in at 3:30 PM went smoothly with proper ID, and the rooms were accessible earlier in the day.

However, after midnight, one room key stopped working. A replacement key was issued and reprogrammed but still did not work. Instead of helping them access the room that had been paid for, the manager on duty instructed them to try to enter the second room on the reservation. They were unable to wake the occupants, and the manager refused to call the room to assist.

This morning, the front desk staff member was extremely helpful and confirmed that the individual working overnight was in fact the manager on duty.

These young women were left without access to their room after midnight and ultimately had to take an Uber to a trusted friend’s home in order to have a safe place to stay. Being locked out after midnight in an unfamiliar downtown area with no assistance was frightening and should never happen to paying guests.

This situation was unacceptable. Guests should never be left without access to a room that has been reserved and paid for, especially late at night.

Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area gets the job done. The location is excellent—close to the University—and the hotel itself is average: nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a few nights. The staff, however, is outstanding.

During our last stay, we had a rough experience that was ultimately resolved well. On the first night, the hotel was about 80% booked with a teenage dance competition group. The young guests made noise all night—running up and down the hallways, moving in large groups, yelling and laughing—making it nearly impossible to sleep, even with earplugs. We spoke with management several times. David, the manager, did everything he could to handle the situation, but the group was very difficult to control.

Once the dance competition group left, the hotel returned to its usual calm. Our second night was a huge improvement, and the overall experience was much more comfortable.

Staff was very friendly but I have a few complaints. 1) If the bar/restaurant is going to be open from 5pm-10pm, make sure you are staffed appropriately. The one bartender/server was overwhelmed and service was very slow. Not to mention the lack of options for beer, spirits, wine. Everything was sold out! On Saturday night numerous people were turned away for food, the bartender said that the cook had called the boss and gotten the ok to shut down early. She then said that there were better food options around the area, pretty un professional in my opinion. One of the TVs in the bar wasn’t working either. Overall we had a good stay but it felt like the attention to detail was missed.

The bar/dining was only open for 2 days of our stay and the food was not good. The room was dirty and the drain was clogged. We asked for the room specifically the bathroom to be cleaned better and it wasn’t. Definitely not a Hilton standard at this hotel.

The bathroom has black mold growing at the base of the shower door. The restaurant was open less than half the time. Asked to have the bathroom drain cleaned and the black mode to be addressed and neither happened. Only had housekeeping in our room one time during the entire stay. Definitely not a Hilton property standard.

Whike we onmy stayed 1 night, there was no food available for dinner or breakfast. Not even Starbucks open. Literally only overpriced junk food to eat. Small parking spots for $30 a night. Have to physically get out of vehicle to scan card so you can enter the parking lot. The spots aren't big enough for trucks

The hotel, lobby and the room itself was very well and clean. Only dilemma was the parking. You have to pay for $30 parking if you want to be anywhere close to the hotel, and even so after paying that, it’s not a guaranteed that there will even be a spot to park inside. Also the location of the hotel itself is very inconvenient we found ourselves having to take way longer routes in order to make it to the entrance.

Overall decent place , close to surly brewery for event we were going too . Two things we didn’t care for was staff was unsure what process was for leaving room keys after leaving parking garage. But biggest issue was that we were charged for drinking the water that was in the room . Noticed when we got home that there was a small fee . Called and that’s what they said charges for. Problem is we didn’t drink there water in the room. Must be there little scam .

The room was spacious and beautiful. The staff was awesome as always! But we were in room 228 and there was the loudest noise we kept hearing. We finally figured out it was the AC! It buzzes very loudly. It was a bit distracting and difficult to fall asleep to. Otherwise. A great facility we have stayed at before and will stay at again.

Nice size room (one king bed) for a city hotel. There is dining on the property, even though the dinner menu was limited and the breakfast was not included (as stated on Expedia). We had to pay a lot for breakfast and the kitchen was out of some items (like the fruit topping for French toast/waffles). Since my husband and I are both diabetic we like a buffet breakfast with a variety of foods to get protein and fiber but not a lot of carbs. The parking was also extra -- $30 a night and in a parking garage. The garage had two levels and space was tight just getting around the ramps. It was quiet and clean, but I would probably stay in a different location next time, with more restaurant options, free parking and breakfast included.

Dining options were not adequate. The menu did not reflect availability. While staff was pleasant, there was no dinner!
The air conditioner in the room was directed AT THE BED. It made sleeping miserable. When attempting to correct temperature, the thermostat was difficult to navigate and the room reached 88 degrees at one point.
The television did not work properly. I was told it was interruption from the rainstorm, yet some channels were not effected.
Overall, this Hilton experience was VERY POOR.
