The parking is underground, spaces are small and limited in number. You cannot turn around either if you don’t find a spot, you end up reversing out and it’s an absolute mess. The front desk person mentioned none of this. Later when I stopped back in she said I could park across the street but you can’t park there during the day. Besides the parking the hotel is fine.

Front staff ladies were amazing! Parking was BAD. Expensive daily parking fee was unexpectedly charged for across the street building parking (over grassy trench & heavy traffic) since hotel garage had very limited spots. We were even told to remove the car immediately in the morning!

The location was great for visiting the U. It’s very urban, limited parking so best if taking transit. Lots of restaurants and amenities in the area. Hotel is very new and nice.

The only issues were no towels in our room. Front desk asked us to come and get them. Then later a housekeeper stopped by and seemed surprised to see the room occupied. Were some stray hairs on the bathroom floor so I’m not sure housekeeping had checked the room before it was rented again.

Breakfast was good but one server for whole room meant everything was slow. We’d allowed extra time but still were almost late to clinic appointment.

I was very satisfied with the staff and their level of professionalism and kindness. The room was impeccably clean and had everything I needed. Parking was probably the most frustrating part because you have to pay to use the parking garage. There really isn’t any other practical parking on the street around it, so you just eat up the fee and that is that. Overall, an excellent experience!

Parking was very reduced, obtaining help was difficult, I reserved with Expedia so Hilton would not help, Expedia was not very helpful either. The sheets and pillow cases were stained. The water from the shower would leak to the carpet. We had a “no smoking” room but it did not matter because the smell of weed came through anyways. One of the Ladies in the kitchen was rude. I do have to say the older lady was very nice. The front desk ladies were also nice and did what they could to help. It was just not a very comfortable stay.

The manner in which they gave their information about cleaning the rooms was very wrong. They do not clean your room. You later have to ask for towels and go get them from the front desk yourself.
Pricing for parking is outrageous. $30 per night, and you are staying at the hotel; that needs to change.

The rooms were clean however the bed was too soft for my liking. It was difficult to sleep with noise coming from the electrical closet. The bathroom was modern with a nice clean shower. The breakfast was short staffed and the food prepared was okay. The complimentary Starbucks coffee was great. For those that used a lyft, uber or needed a ride the parking was a little congested. But there was parking available in the garage for vehicles owners. The staff was super helpful and very polite and efficient.

For $5, the breakfast was okay, I have had better free breakfast at other locations, but it was convenient, service was very courteous and I didn't have to leave the property and find something in an unknown neighborhood, so....

The Hilton is in a great location if you're planning on going to US Bank for a concert. The check-in process took a bit longer than I wanted but it worked out. We had 2 rooms and I had called ahead of time to try and get adjoining rooms but it didn't work out. They were right next to each other so that was fine. We walked about 8 minutes to the light rail to get to our concert and had no issues.

Checking in was a nightmare. Somehow you're supposed to pull into the covered front door area, but both sides were stopped and at the front desk to check in, so you either have to wait on the road or park on the road which is limited and not close to the hotel. Once we got in, the line was long (to be expected because there was an event at the US Bank Stadium), but the computers crashed, so we had to wait even longer. Also, you need to pay $30 just to park in their ramp. The ramps is extremely tight fitting. I thought there was a continental breakfast, but their wasn't. There were no towels in the pool area first thing in the morning, so it's not like they ran out, they just never stocked them. The rooms were good, except there was mold or something black in the corners of the shower. The light rail was close which was nice, but it would have been nice if they had a map or something at the hotel. I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

March 21 stay – serious safety concern.

I booked two rooms for six adults through Hotels.com at Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area. They have stayed at this hotel previously and chose it again because of its close proximity to the university. Check-in at 3:30 PM went smoothly with proper ID, and the rooms were accessible earlier in the day.

However, after midnight, one room key stopped working. A replacement key was issued and reprogrammed but still did not work. Instead of helping them access the room that had been paid for, the manager on duty instructed them to try to enter the second room on the reservation. They were unable to wake the occupants, and the manager refused to call the room to assist.

This morning, the front desk staff member was extremely helpful and confirmed that the individual working overnight was in fact the manager on duty.

These young women were left without access to their room after midnight and ultimately had to take an Uber to a trusted friend’s home in order to have a safe place to stay. Being locked out after midnight in an unfamiliar downtown area with no assistance was frightening and should never happen to paying guests.

This situation was unacceptable. Guests should never be left without access to a room that has been reserved and paid for, especially late at night.

Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area gets the job done. The location is excellent—close to the University—and the hotel itself is average: nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a few nights. The staff, however, is outstanding.

During our last stay, we had a rough experience that was ultimately resolved well. On the first night, the hotel was about 80% booked with a teenage dance competition group. The young guests made noise all night—running up and down the hallways, moving in large groups, yelling and laughing—making it nearly impossible to sleep, even with earplugs. We spoke with management several times. David, the manager, did everything he could to handle the situation, but the group was very difficult to control.

Once the dance competition group left, the hotel returned to its usual calm. Our second night was a huge improvement, and the overall experience was much more comfortable.

Staff was very friendly but I have a few complaints. 1) If the bar/restaurant is going to be open from 5pm-10pm, make sure you are staffed appropriately. The one bartender/server was overwhelmed and service was very slow. Not to mention the lack of options for beer, spirits, wine. Everything was sold out! On Saturday night numerous people were turned away for food, the bartender said that the cook had called the boss and gotten the ok to shut down early. She then said that there were better food options around the area, pretty un professional in my opinion. One of the TVs in the bar wasn’t working either. Overall we had a good stay but it felt like the attention to detail was missed.

You have to pay for $30 parking if you want to be anywhere close to the hotel, and even so after paying that, it’s not a guaranteed that there will even be a spot to park inside. Also the location of the hotel itself is very inconvenient we found ourselves having to take way longer routes in order to make it to the entrance.
