Stayed during Ade festival. Staff where lovely and beds where comfortable however getting in and out of the hotel?!…. You have to walk all the way round the back of the hotel to get in and out of it! It’s right next to a motorway currently being built so it was quite inconvenient

My only peeve was (baring in mind I arrived very late that night) housekeeping came to clean the room at about 9am, it was no later than 9:30am. This is fine for some but if not ready at that time then you miss the opportunity for the whole day.

Only third room worked. First one toilet was running noisily, second smelled from cigarette smoke. Third was ok but shower didn’t drain and caused a half flooding of the bathroom.
As I arrived late they couldn’t change the room key anymore. Had to get a new one next morning. The front desk person didn’t know how to do it though and had to get assistance.

When we checked in the woman at the counter was rude, unprofessional and nasty. When I asked for her name she stated that I was not treating her with respect so she wasn’t going to treat me with respect. We said nothing disrespectful to this person, she used this as an excuse to vent her hostility that was unwarranted. She refused to give me her name after I asked to speak with her supervisor. She kept yelling at us as we left the counter in front of other guests. The other woman that just came on duty Hanicka, was abrupt and unhelpful when we asked for some ice. The check in experience was the worst and we travel all over the world.

Friendly staff but hotel cleanness was very poor rubbish still in bin from perivous guest, remote controll battery cover was found under bed with rubbish the heating kept turning off was only small so there fore -3 degrees wasn't warm at all. Got given twin when we was meant to have double.. Restaurant area unclean with milk stains on floor all the time we stayed with dugee wrappers on floor too. But we did how ever get left to our own and was quiet and relaxed atmosphere

While it seems far from the city centre, the buses were 3 every hour and very direct, only a 25/30 (max) minute journeys, and a 2 minute walk from the hotel.
The staff were very welcoming, and the smoking lounge with the pool table was perfect for a final activity before bed.
The rooms were spacious with modern bathrooms, and I thought the beds were wonderfully comfortable! I would stay there again with no arguments.

Nice & clean room, the hotel is a bit far from Amsterdam centre but 30 mins on the bus isn't too bad. Only bad thing to say about this hotel is we was woken up every morning with construction on the floor above which was very loud an annoying!!

Locked out so what did I pay for?
After we checked in, we decided to take the near hour bus ride to central Amsterdam. Upon return in the early morning, our key to our room did not work. No one was assigned to the front desk and we had to ask a restaurant employee to let us in our room. It was a very strange experience since he did not even ask us for proof that it was our room. This made me nervous for the following nights.

We just wanted a room to sleep in close to a wedding we were attending. The hotel was perfectly OK and comfortable for the purpose. Small room and bathroom but clean enough. It is a 3 Star Hotel, and fits the bill.

The cheapest hotel in Amsterdam area I could find turned out to be brilliiant in every aspect. It does take half an hour to get to the center by bike and there's not much to do in the hotel walking distance but still you get a wonderful bargain.

As title mentions, the hotel is lovely, the decor is modern, classy! It's a little far out with not much to do in the immediate surrounding area. Mcdonalds & KFC is a good 25-minute walk away, but only around 15/20 minutes into Amsterdam centre which isn't bad at all, only 5 euros each way. I would stay here again, its well worth the money; I'd rather pay these prices & travel than staying in the centre & pay a fortune! We didn't have breakfast or evening meal so no comment on that. The cups provided in our room weren't cleaned properly and that was slightly disappointing but that's the only flaw in the entire hotel so not bad at all!

The room was clean and tidy. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were lovely. It was about 25 mins away from central Amsterdam, using the bus. Buses were always on time and runs throughout the day. A very good trip.

The staff were very welcoming and very helpful the room was clean and comfortable five stars from me and my partner it was a bit far out of the centre of Amsterdam but we caught a bus 🚌 to and from there but the first time coming back from the centre we missed our stop but the driver took us back to the bus 🚌 depot then gave us a lift to our hotel so we met a Good Samaritan had a great day on the canals

Drove here on a girls's trip with my bff. It's about a 20 min drive to downtown (Red Light District). The room is small and a bit cramped. The shower had no door,it was just a curtain that wasn't even big enough, so water ended up all over the bathroom floor. There aren't many outlets in the room either. Kind of pricey for location and quality of hotel room.

This Location Will Not Save You Money
my friend and i chose this hotel because it was cheaper than staying in a hostel in the heart of amsterdam and potentially safer. NO. IT was at least a 45 euro cab from amsterdam to the village in which this hotel is. A bus runs from the hotel to centraal station, but it comes every 30 minutes during the day and at night, only once an hour (also very scary). It is a 35 minute bus ride into town. I ended up paying the same amount as just splurging a little more for a better set up actually in Amsterdam.

While we appreciated our stay at the Bastion, it was inconvenient to get to and from Amsterdam (our purpose for staying). The bus tickets cost 5 euros one way for 2 people. That obviously ate quite a bit of our budget. However, the hotel staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was quiet, and the beds were quite comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Access to much with a friendly staff hotel
By using public transportation and your own auto, you have immediate access to much of what makes Amsterdam and its environs. Drive if you must, but public transportation is very comprehensive and timely. We were in contact with 5 or 6 hotel staff members during our stay and have only positive comments about everyone of them.

This hotel had a friendly staff. The rooms were clean and fresh. Very basic room with small fridge. The team ride to central Amsterdam is €5, kinda steep for one way. Very close to the old wind mills. If you're looking to get close to the central this may not be a good hotel but it is nice and quit. Do not park downtown, it's about €40+ per day. I'd stay here again if I want the country feel of Amsterdam.

This hotel was a positive surprise. Only the location is a bit distant, but the staff gave me good advice for going to Amsterdam central. The easiest way is to use the bus 391 or 392. There is also Wibhautstraat in Amstel, and there is also a Bastion hotel there, and for me that was a bit confusing. The lady at the reception was however very friendly and I found my stay very pleasant. My room was clean with good facilities.

Very Comfortable and Free Parking
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our stay was. Nothing too fancy, but the staff was very helpful and the room comfortable. It's a little out of the way, but only a ten minute drive into Amsterdam or the airport - no big deal if you have a car. That was the big drawing point for us, free parking! That's almost unheard of at Dutch hotels. There is also free wifi all through the hotel and cable TV in the rooms. Downtown Zaandam, just minutes away, is charming and had several restaurants to choose from. It also has a couple of grocery stores if you need to pick up supplies. The room had a mini-fridge, so we were able to keep milk and yogurt on hand, which was nice.

Nice hotel but it's a lot further out from Amsterdam than I was expecting. I would not stay here if you are intending to sightsee in Amsterdam unless you had a car. There are close buses but it is still a 40 min trip to get to central Amsterdam and costs 8 euros return each.

The taxi ride from the airport cost a steep 60 euro so either count on the cost or bring your luggage through public transportation (which isn't that bad but we decided against it).
The staff is very friendly and helpful, which really helps out a lot if you don't know the area.
We ate in town so I can not comment on the breakfast but the cost was somewhere in the 7 euro range, which seems reasonable.

There is no vent and the doors are hard to prop open since their closing mechanism is very strong. If you fog up the bathroom after a shower, good luck trying to get ready in front of the mirror until it clears up.

I loved this hotel! The area of Zaandam is a really nice and up and coming suburb! You can walk around the area of this hotel and have a really nice time! This hotel was a last minute booking but it was so worth it. The beds are two twins but you can smoosh them together if you're with you SO and the beds are so comfy and soft! The pillows were hands down the best I have encountered at a hotel! There isn't many places to eat nearby but there is a gas station steps away that has the BEST turkey club sandwich (may be funny but it is seriously an amazing sandwich!) so if you want different food stock up in Amsterdam and bring it to the hotel. Getting to Amsterdam is a bit pricey about 8 euro /day for back and forth which was the downside of this hotel. Stay at this hotel though!! Zaadam is truly a beautiful area!!

Cheap Amsterdam Stay in Inconvenient Location
The hotel is cheaply priced for Amsterdam, but it is actually in a town called Zaandam. While the hotel is only ~4 miles from the Amsterdam Centraal train station, it was very difficult to find via public transportation the first time, even with the help of several public transportation staff. I figured out the hard way that bus 391 goes to the hotel, after a lengthy ride. It costs 4 euros to travel to and from central Amsterdam by bus. Other buses may go to the hotel as well.
I only found food at a gas station across the street from the hotel that was within walking distance to the hotel. Therefore, unless you have a car while in Amsterdam, would recommend that you eat in Amsterdam or buy groceries in Amsterdam, else be prepared to eat at the hotel restaurant. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, because I'm frugal that way and I don't enjoy eating in hotel restaurants, especially one of this caliber. The bottom line is that you can save a lot of money staying in this hotel over hotels in central Amsterdam, but you will find it very inconvenient.

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The location was a little far from the city center, but it was only one bus ride away that took about 15 minutes. As far as staff goes, we spoke to one girl who wasn't very friendly, but we were also helped by a man who was much more welcoming.
In the end, the price was decent and the room was clean. It wasn't a beautiful hotel, but it's good if you just need a place to sleep.

Not Deluxe and in the middle of nowhere
Although the review says that this hotel is 4 miles from the centre of Amsterdam, it is correct if you travel by microlight aircraft. In a cab it is 45 Euro's and 20 minutes. We asked for a non-smoking room and were given a smoking room which stank of cigarettes. Although I was there was two days, I used the complimentary little bar of soap on the first day and this was never replaced as I can only assume they think one for two days is enough! I would pay the extra which you would waste on cab fare and get a decent hotel closer to the town centre.

The hotel is clean and confortable. Its location is quite far from the centre of Amsterdam, but there are buses each 30 min and trip takes just below 30 min to reach the centre. My main disagreement with the hotel was the fact that they fixed the check-out at noon but refused to keep our luggage in storage. Overall not too well impressed.

The hotel is not nearly as close to the center of Amsterdam as it says. It is easy to jump on a cheap bus to head to Centrum Amsterdam, but it is at least a 20 minute ride and the bus only comes twice an hour. The room was big though and was priced at a good rate. Just don't stay here if you want to be right in the city. There is not much going on where the hotel is.

The complete lack of accountability and basic customer service is appalling. If you care at all about comfort, responsiveness, or professionalism, do not stay at this hotel. I sincerely hope this review saves others from the miserable experience we had.
