Rooms were dated, with stained carpets and sofa. No water in the rooms, lomited to one hand towel and one small bath towel per person. No beds made the three nights we stayed nor room cleaned. Not great for a junior suite. The only saving grace for thia hitel was the staff we're so friendly and attentive.

The room is very nice and clean, the buffet is so good. We would like to thank the night shift front desk staff who gave us a very good room and also all the staff from the buffet, they are very courteous and when we checked we also would like to thank the staff who assisted us using the hotel storage for a few minutes after we checked out and finding us a good driver to drive us to the airport. Very nice place. Thank you.

What a great hotel! Wonderful staff, super comfy sheets and beds. High ceilings. Small fridge and coffee maker in room. We stayed 2 weeks and the location is super convenient to travel to other parts of Netherlands via train. Rented bikes from hotel a few times & that was super fun. Full grocery store across the parking lot with excellent food options. The lobby is HUGE with plenty of space for meetings or work calls or just to chill. Front desk staff was friendly & efficient. Highly recommend.

I stayed here on from 10/20/25-10/24/25, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. During my stay, I discovered a bed bug in the room that was big enough to see that it was a bed bug. I reported it to the staff and even provided photo evidence.

While the hotel claimed they found no issue after their “investigation,” they offered only a small discount on a future stay instead of addressing my concern properly or issuing a refund. This response felt dismissive given the seriousness of the situation and the inconvenience it caused. Their attitude was dismissive and provides no evidence of investigation.

I’m sharing this so others are aware and so management hopefully takes guest reports more seriously in the future. I would’ve appreciated accountability and a fair resolution rather than a denial.

The rooms were very clean and modern. Air conditioning works perfectly, we preferred to keep it off however as we don’t like to with a breeze. The staff were really friendly and the housekeeping was a very nice touch. €100 deposit required on check-in by card (doesn’t matter if it’s credit or debit) and was returned to us 5 hours after check out - I used revolut for reference. Right next to to train station and AH supermarket and the local area is beautiful and worth a visit. Would definitely consider staying here while visiting Amsterdam - trains are frequent and only takes 15 minutes into centraal, with the last return being at 1am. Would recommend and would visit again

The hotel staff are great but the room I was given (a double deluxe) did not live up to my expectations. I was in a room on the 5th floor in the annex building, so one of the furthest rooms from reception. While it was modern, there was only one velux window pointing up to the sky (so zero view apart from the overcast skies) and the room felt like one big closet. There is a gap at the bottom of the door which means the room gets flooded with the light from the corridor at night. Hangers in the wardrobe are those awful anti-theft ones. And the rainfall shower pressure was very poor, although the handheld shower was nice. There is no water provided for guests in the room and there is just one tiny miniature bottle of body wash and hair conditioner in the bathroom. Luckily, there is an Albert Heijn supermarket opposite the hotel where you can buy toiletries. I did appreciate the location of the hotel (great bus and train connections) and I did like the restaurant (a great kipschnitzel!). Breakfast was slightly spoiled by the hard boiled eggs which just fell apart when I tried to shell them, and with only two coffee machines, there can be a big queue for your daily fix of caffeine in the morning.

The Zaan Hotel is very close to the train station, stores and restaurants. It's clean and quiet. Above all, every member of the staff we dealt with was pleasant and efficient.When I planned our trip, I thought this hotel would be a perfect fit. It turned out to be exactly that.

Pleasant stay and a good base to explore from.

Stay overall was good, staff were friendly and attentive, have to knock a star off though when my initial room was already occupied!
Aside from that, just minor issues, not restocking coffee stirrers, not restocking towels on one day.
On the positive side, the hotel is really nice, the rooms were comfy and roomy with air filtration systems. Bathroom was well equipped and sensibly designed.
I just feel like it might be due for a slight modernisation, the TV doesn't have either an HDMI input or casting ability, so only free to air (and weirdly defaults to a Cuban TV station). The card reader in the room wasnt secure to the wall, and so on.
Location wise, there is a supermarket literally 60 seconds away, the train station is a three minute walk and fully staffed! Useful for travel cards. The Zaandam shopping centre is right next to the train station, a five minute ride in one direction gets you to the Zaan Schans area, and ten minutes the other way gets you to central Amsterdam. If you are flying in, the train goes from the airport to Zaandam bypassing the city centre!
So, well placed, good quality hotel.

The best part about this hotel is the shower water pressure and it’s proximity to the train station . This hotel has loads of potential but the cleaning was very bad - mould inside the shower area, only one small bottle of shampoo and soap for two guests, no kettle in room, etc …the surrounding hotel was also littered with cigarettes butt leaving a bad impression to the tourists.

Wonderful hotel. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Right beside train station, walking distance to Zaandam town and short train ride to downtown Amsterdam, airport or anywhere else. If you want a getaway in Amsterdam this is the place to stay.
If you arrive by plane go to the lower floor for train station, takes you right to the hotel. So convenient!

This is a really great hotel in a quiet area just outside of central Dam and easily accessible by train directly from the Central Station. The security guy was really nice, and we felt very safe in the area.

The beds are new and super comfortable, and the rooms are quiet and clean.

Didn't try the restaurant, but walked into Zaan Dam for breakfast at Lagom, which is just a few minutes away from the hotel. That said all the food looked very good.

When we go back to Amsterdam, this hotel will be on our radar for sure.

The hotel is really close to the train station, about 2 minute walking but as every train station everywhere, sometimes you encounter strange individuals. There is a supermarket very close to the hotel where you can buy food or any other stuff that you might need which is convenient. Also, within walking distance, you have many restaurants. We also ate at the restaurant at the hotel and the food was good and the service great. We asked them to change our pillows as they are quite high and hard and they were able to help us with this request the following day. We rented some bicycles through them and biked to the windmills. Very easy to get there and it was a fun ride. We found that the hotel was great and the service was great too.

This hotel was perfect as we wanted to visit Alkmaar and Zaanse Schans - it is also a stone's throw awáy from Amsterdan. The hotel is off the boardwalk so itiw more quiet and the rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel staff were super nice and provided all the amenities we needed. Great service

Well equipped room, comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Good choice of food for breakfast. Great that we could hire bikes from the hotel. Easy to get to and from the train station and didn't take long to get into Amsterdam.
Zaandam restaurants were nice but the walk there in the evening we felt uncomfortable with the many youths hanging about.

I stayed at the Zaan Hotel last September, rather than pay triple the price in central Amsterdam and I accidentally discovered a gem. Zaandam is a beautiful peaceful place, two train stops from Amsterdam Centraal with all the advantages and none of the hassles. The Zaan Hotel forms a triangle with the station and a large supermarket, approximately three minutes walk from each other.
The rooms at the hotel have everything you need, including meals and a bar, but I didn’t make use of those. It was just too easy to self cater with a fridge in the room, tea and coffee making facilities…the staff were always pleasant and smiling. And the wifi was excellent! And the lighting, which isn’t always the case.
My only criticism would be that I’d come back from a day of pounding the streets at 3pm and housekeeping had still not been, so I couldn’t really relax until they had come. But that’s a problem I have with many hotels, and it’s a very small criticism. The housekeeping people always did an excellent job.

I loved that the property was directly across from the train station. It was a 15 minute ride to Amsterdam. Also a small grocery shop and cafe across the street. The staff was very helpful. However for the price of almost 200€ for a regular room they called \"delux\" it left a lot to desire. The room was very basic, stacked mattresses with blankets. They picked the best looking rooms for the website it seems. I was looking forward to the pink rooms shown online..instead green rug and beije wall. Its hard to justify the cost other than the convenience of the train station.

Front desk staff Jale is not helpful and hustling, on July 1 I informed her the liking pipe under sink and stated the DND light was on due to the forgetting, I wanted to authorize hotel maintenance staff to enter my room in writing. She refused. I told her be flexible them I went up my room to turn off D ND light which made me miss the train and late for my activity. The worst part of her is being sarcastic, on my way to exit of the hotel, she said “good morning” to me behind my back, there were no other customers at front desk at that moment. On July 2nd, the pipe liking again, the DND light was on too, I informed here about the issues and told her that “wait until I get back, don’t let people get into my room” she is hypocritical, she did the opposite way as she said on July 1st. As I came back from my tour, I told front desk staff to sent maintenance to my room. I was furious, for the two different results for the same situation.

Great place to stay with a lot cheaper price compare with other options in Amsterdam. Very close to Amsterdam, 12 minutes by trains, but there was no train on my last day because of a strike and things became super complicated.

The neighbourhood was great, near the famous Inntel hotel. And there was a big grocery store nearby too.

My room was very large (I got a free upgrade) and the bed was comfy. There was black mold in the bathroom though and it stunk a bit on the first day. But overall, everything was fine.

Whenever I'm in this area will always stay here. The service is always good. The resteraunt does good food if needed though maybe a little pricey and also fairly basic but fresh. The breakfast buffet is also very wide and good. The welcome from the reception girls is wonderful and reception is manned 24/7 which is a bonus as well when leaving early.

This was a great option for a cheaper alternative to staying in downtown Amsterdam. Amsterdam was very accessible by train and Zaandam was a very charming town to explore. The staff of the Zaan Hotel were great and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean.

The room was not clean. There were some crumbs on the floor. Outreach garbage wasn’t emptied for 2 days which is not good with food waste in there. The air conditioner didn’t work. The bed is uncomfortable and the pillows were so small even when you doubled it over they were terrible. There were noisy people outside throughout the night and early mornings. I would not stay in this hotel again. I stayed because of the good reviews but uncertain where those came from.
