Lovely property that is eco-conscious. It’s smaller than it appears in photos so there’s little privacy in the common areas, if you value that. Pool also tiny. The room was large and very comfortable but not too stylish! (Some natural wood and stone elements would help). Yoga studio was stunning, barrel vaulted ceiling tho the one class we attended was no fun (Kundalini yoga, anyone? All breath training.) there are other classes apparently. Good japonese restaurant just steps away!

Nice quiet place to get away from the noise of Cancun. It’s very clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was bigger than expected. Parrots eating mangoes from the tree in the courtyard.
In the room I had, you could hear people outside easily. But it’s not a busy place and everyone was respectful of noise.

Friendly staff fitting of a friendly atmosphere. Spacious rooms with a great nature feel. A great downtown location with the bus station being a walkable distance away. They can also hold your luggage if you arrive before check in time. I recommend this hotel if you're traveling solo or with a group.

Beautiful hotel with high standard of cleanliness and service. Free breakfast was a big plus.. bIG comfy bed.They held my bags before and after check in/out free of charge. Great location, removed from downtown chaos but still very close to bus station.
Only issue was that Expedia Ad mentioned a got tub/spa which was a big part of my reason for choosing this hotel. In reality, the hot tub was as only for use of massage clients( even though it was connected to the guest pool).
Oh also a neighing dog (not in the hotel) barked obnoxiously from 6am on, bot their fault, but a huge drawback as I got little sleep.

Highly recommend if you want to stay in the center away from the zone of big hotels. Also a short walk to ADO bus terminal

This is a nice hotel, and the breakfast is simple but well made. Bottled water is cheap at the desk which is nice. The pool area is very shady, so if lounging in the direct sun is a priority for you then I don’t think this hotel is appropriate. The wifi did not work well in our room, and the cell service wasn’t great in the stone walls either. The staff were very accommodating of our request for an accessible room, however the room we got was on one of the outer street side walls and traffic and street noise was quite loud. The hotel and garden itself are very quiet and peaceful.

This is a female solo traveler review. A wonderful place in a great location! Lush and green, with a large, clean, cute room. There is a focus on accessibility here - in the hotel with an elevator and elevated walkways, and in the neighborhood for wheelchair access. I felt very safe on my own, even walking at night. Juan S. at the front desk spoke perfect English and gave me suggestions of where to go - the best taco place is down the street, and I walked to a huge New Year's Eve celebration. I went to Nomads, right down the street, for cheap beers and their cool, fun rooftop bar and then came back for a quiet, restful sleep.This is a perfect location in downtown for excursion companies to directly pick you up.

1. We got the room with transparent sliding doors, with no privacy and lock issues.
2. No hot water
3. On next day we asked for different room since the hot water problem was not resolved.
4. Different room on 2nd day and toilet flush is not working and toilet water backed up and AC not working.

Eduardo went above and beyond to help us when it looked like we might not make it to our excursion, absolutely saving the day. The location is within walking distance to several great restaurants and even as a solo mom and her kiddo, we felt safe. We are so happy to have found this gem and look forward to staying again!

The staff here was super kind and helpful! My Spanish isn’t great and they were willing to help me in English, and be patient as I wanted to practice Spanish. They went above and beyond to answer any questions I had. The included breakfast had a menu to choose from with a variety of options. The pool was also empty of people nearly the entire time I was there; so I was able to swim and float in solitude. It was really the retreat I needed.

The place is like home. This is my second summer to stayed in Eco Hotel El Rey del Caribe. I give five ⭐ and the place is safe with police around.
Everyone is very nice, the breakfast is good, and you can find variety. The rooms are cleaned, and you can prepare some food in there. They have little refrigerator and electric stove. The pool is ready for you to enjoy your day. The place is very culture and rustic which makes to feel like home!!
You are so close to take the bus to the hotel zone or Beach ( Bus R1). ADO is very close too, and you can take those buses for the airport or Tulum, Playa del Carmen, etc. Grocery store you can find very close.
The Plaza Las Palapas is where you can find delicious and traditional food.

The front desk staff here - Tatiana and Jo - are lovely people. Very helpful and friendly! The breakfasts are moderate in size and taste good, although the sauce on the chilaquiles was very clearly watered down two mornings in a row. The property is very interesting, with neat architecture and fascinating pocket spaces. The greenery here is beautiful!

However, things went from bad to worse each day of our stay. Our first room was decidedly lacking in privacy and unreasonably noisy with hotel staff work taking place outside the window at early hours. Our second room had a broken air conditioning unit which the maintenance staff was later able to partially resurrect. And, near the end of our stay, either the housekeeper or a maintenance worker walked off with my wife's wallet. This is not a baseless accusation or mere speculation; it was, unequivocally, one of the two who took it. We reported the issue, but our departure was mere hours later, and we just took the L on our way out. Future guests be forewarned.

The front manager was very understanding. He told me that we were going to stay in the 2nd floor and I told him that we have mobility issues and if it is possible for us to stay on the ground floor so we did. He even helped carry ur luggages to the room. To top it all there was a kitchen. You have a beautiful garden where we hang around for a long time after we checked out.Many thanks.

We spent three nights at El Rey de Calibre and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The grounds were gorgeous and we loved just sitting outside at night and relaxing. The shower had enough warm water and great water pressure. The air conditioner was almost a little too good! The breakfast is good and will get you through to a larger meal. It's not a ton of food but it's very good. The staff was outstanding and extremely helpful with any questions we had.
We've been to the area many times, but this is the first time that we've stayed near the downtown area. There are a couple restaurants that are super close and in walking distance and a huge number of restaurants and bars less than 15-minute walk. The walk is easy, BTW. Recommendations: more loungers by the pool. More towels in the room.

Biggest disappointments are water pressure, and temp. control of showers. Either the system fluctuates temp a lot, or a bad mixing valve in the shower. Ask maintenance to fix, and they just replaced the shower head. The issue was still there. Sadly, can't stay here again when it takes a half hour to shower and burning to freezing fast fluctuations. I would never want a child to shower and have that water temp. keep changing to burning hot. I had to step out of the shower stream when it went hot about every 2 minutes.

It is a lovely place, that offers good value. Located close to a nice street with many food OPTIONS (el Socio Naiz was the best of all!) and quite close to Zona Hotelera (by car). Breakfast included was a plus.
The only two things they could improve on was on having hot water, which usually was cold at night and lukewarm at best during the day, and WiFi connection.

Loved this place! The rooms were plane and simple and the water pressure was lacking but the garden oasis more than made up for this! It’s so comfortable and cozy that it just makes you feel at peace! The breakfast in the morning was great because it was your choice of fresh scrambled Mexican eggs, eggs with ham, or pancakes. The menu varied a little each day. It was so nice to have fresh breakfast rather than something all carbs. It was very close walking distance to a street with more modern restaurants as well as the downtown that is more old authentic. This was a great place to stay if you want to explore the city and come back to a peaceful atmosphere. There’s also massage and yoga on site. Unfortunately I had trouble signing up for yoga but it would have been beautiful.

The room is big and clean. Maybe it would be better if someone can check the conditions of the room before guests moving in, for example, the batteries of the remote control for the AC; the hot water for the shower in the room. I told the staff several time there was no hot water. It wasn't solved after 3 days stay in the hotel.
There is an elevator built outside the room which produces the noise when guests move in and out.

This is a great place to stay downtown, away from the hotel zone. Better prices for food, lots of nearby options and walkable to so much. If you're looking for a quaint little getaway this is a great place. The staff are amazing and so nice, the environment is beautiful. It's not new or updated and has some quirks, but we loved that. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable of anywhere we've stayed. If we go back to Cancun again we would definitely stay here for a second time.
The breakfast was great, and it's so peaceful and beautiful and unique.

Lovely Oasis in Cancun

Front desk staff were very friendly! Such a nice first impression!
The place itself is great, like an oasis in the middle of all the busy roads in Cancun. It doesn’t feel like that though. There are plenty of plants and the swimming pool, although small, really does the job. We did not have it crowded once and the only time we had to share it with other guests, it was really pleasant.
The rooms are very big and comfortable. I didn’t have an option to have a basic room only when I booked it so mine had a small electric stove, very powerful fridge and some glasses and other crockery.
Wifi was really reliable and I was even able to use it to video call other people.
The air conditioning was not very powerful perhaps because the room was so big but I was not hot at all.
The bedding is great, clean and it was a kingsize one. Pillows were very comfortable and the shower was powerful and relaxing.
Breakfast was not excellent for vegans. Perhaps something they should consider as there are more and more people nowadays going plant based. I know this is not the best idea to suggest in Mexico but given the amount of international guests they accommodate, it should be something to think about. Breakfast staff, like everyone else, were really friendly, polite and attentive. Lovely people all around.
The neighbourhood is also great with a nice Taqueria only a few minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a large supermarket and other restaurants around.

We enjoyed our stay at El Rey Del Caribe! We were in Cancun for only a short time, but the hotel was exactly what we needed. They offered breakfast 7:30-10:00 am, but we only had coffee. The room was nice and big, had air conditioning, a large shower with lots of water pressure and the water got nice and hot! It was nice to see they had a pool, but we didnt go in it. It was fairly small, but dipping our feet in the temperature felt nice and cool. There are tons of restaurants nearby, grocery stores as well. We used Uber and Uber Eats quite a bit. Overall i would recommend El Rey Del Caribe if you are there for a short visit.

This hotel always gives great service. It is a short walk from the ADO station in centro.

Best hotel downtown.

I would stay here again, Jessica the receptionists in the morning and Selene in the afternoon, kitchen staff Reyna and July, plus the housekeeper Isabel and the great hostess shift manager Julio and also the maintenance man and grounds keeper all do an excellent and superb service, it’s an outstanding place to stay ! You get the Mexican hospitality and feel the positive energy and vibes. The grocery store and bus station are just around the corner and is easy access. I would highly recommend this very nice hotel, everything in the rooms are very nice and roomy.
