Great, comfortable and spacious place… in a quiet location but totally accessible to Quinta Avenue. Terrific and friendly staff! Great pool area (but heat up the water!) and great restaurants nearby. Definitely will come back!

The location was excellent as it was centrally located within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful which was very much needed with the ongoing issue of the electronic key becoming deactivated several times during my stay. Toward the end of my stay the battery to the digital lock died and it took so much time, energy and effort for staff to replace the battery. This was inconvenient because I had just returned from an excursion and needed entrance as soon as possible. The swimming pool was clean except there was work being done and I could not muster the courage to get in after seeing all of the electrical wires exposed while the workers completed the renovations. The water pressure was poor at best due to the sulfur / egg smell and temperature- room temperature. The last two days of my stay was filled with the unforgiving pounding and loud noise of renovations in the next room. I was not provided with notice or the courtesy to be moved to another room.

Stay was just OK. Stayed with my family. There was always a shortage of towels, either pool towels or bath towels. We needed enough for 4 ppl. Also, no blankets. The sofa bed can barely fit a kid or two, not for adults. WiFi issues throughout the stay. Staff was annoyed about asking for password many times for the kids tablets. No AC in common areas, super humid and hot in elevator. The experience was OK overall. It would have been nice to have friendly staff excited to see us and offering recommendations around as they do not have a restaurant on site. We had to find our way around tow. However, the hotel is in a good location, walking distance to everything.

Enjoyed the superior loft unit very much. The property amenities were awesome as well as the location.
We had a few glitches though. The futon in our room was broken and we had to prop it up with a backpack. Ran out of bathroom tissue and was told there would be none available until the next day at 9am. Obviously we got our own;)
Ultimately the front desk staff is pleasant but basically powerless to help with much. More of a condo with a reception.
All in all it was everything we needed.

Lovely spacious room with both ceiling fan and AC, all in good working order. The shower was a bit old/rusty, but generally rooms well maintained. Beautiful king-sized bed. The staff lent me a large pan for boiling water when I asked and gave me more soap and shampoo to cover my stay. Also very nice rooftop pool, just not open very early. Very relaxing stay overall, ideal after long flight.

Everything was great. We stayed for 6 days. The staff was helpful, the room was clean, the air conditioning worked awesome. The pool was good. There were a couple great restaurants a couple blocks away. The only thing I would mention is that the power did go out for a few hours one day we were there, which was a minor inconvenience. It was out while we were getting ready for the day.

Sofia By Bunik is a condo/hotel type and our family stayed for 4 nights. The studios/apartments are very comfortable, modern, and complete. The staff is very helpfull. The pool is located in the roof garden and is beautiful. Its worthy to stay here.

I had an excellent stay at sofia! The rooms were great, comfy beds, AC was awesome. The rooftop pool was such a nice relaxing spot and the hammocks were perfect for tanning. My only issue was with the sink/shower water, it smelled really bad the first day we were there but it went away eventually. The staff were helpful and friendly as well. Would recommend sofia for a low budget but well worth the money stay in Playa!

This was my 4th visit to Sofia & as usual, the staff was absolutely wonderful. The room/unit was bright & clean & equipped enough supplies to enjoy a nice cup of tea/coffee on the balcony each morning.

Pool area is great. Clean and modern. Well maintained. Room was ni ebut not very clean upon arrival. Limited towels and things like shampoo etc...if you eequest extras, they will accommodate. Elevator only worked one day put of seven. There are five floors and pool is roof top. AC worked very well. Bed very hard and pillows not great. Area is good, lots to do and close to walk ro the beach. Mega is very close by, lots of restaurants to try.

Overall great place for the price!

The place was wonderful in the room very clean and comfortable. The hallways and elevator are not air conditioned. The elevator was broken the last 2 days of my stay I was in room 402 which is 5 flights of stairs, the lobby is not floor 1. The cooking pans are very cheap and the cook top has no instructions on how to operate. It’s different than any I’ve ever used before. The pool was very popular although I never used it.

This was our second time staying at this wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is well cared for and the rooms are clean. It has a beautiful rooftop garden with a refreshing pool. The staff are friendly and very helpful. When our airport transportation didn’t show up JuanCarlos was very helpful getting us a taxi quickly so we didn’t miss our flight. Looking forward to our stay next year

First room was clutter & internet not working couldn’t go to balcony. They change me room per my request it was worse. Tv, internet, safe not working until after 3 days maintenance show up. Finally was able to connect my laptop & work. One of their guest always angry in the rooftop by the pool. CAMARAS not working. They should cause also couple fighting until 3:30 am couldn’t sleep. The guy hit the woman & she was crying I told them they should have security cause I couldn’t help the woman.

I enjoyed my time until the last night! I changed rooms a few times on purpose to check them out! All were good except the last day & night.

I went to check in I immediately felt claustrophobic.

I returned to the front to explain I paid for the balcony and I refused to stay that room! The Receptionists told me there is NO CONTACT NUMBER for anyone only an email address to \"info\". I was very concerned and at that time learned there is no one to rectify issues immediately. We both sent emails and she did receive a response to change my room. She told me I was \"going be upgrade without charge\", my response was \"No, I paid for the balcony room\"

Otherwise she was polite but she is only capable of checking you in! I dropped my bags and left. Came back at midnight to learn the shower didn't work and cant be fixed until next morning.

Note: they are VERY STRICT about checking in & checking out at EXACTLY 3PM no time sooner, even if the room is ready and available.

I thought it could be a simple switch of rooms especially because the room was ready, because she stated it was however they dont allow early entries. She told me \"Im sorry, please wait 10 more minutes\" when I asked to go in at 2:45pm.

It’s good if you are just looking for a good place to stay that is in a great location in terms of walking distance to popular places. I would stay here again.

Please be aware when booking your room at this hotel - the traditional studio is located on the main floor of the building and does not have an outdoor balcony. We made this mistake when booking. Instead it has what looks like a closed in patio that is dark, full of mosquitos and smelled like mold. We were not able to pay to upgrade our room when we got there - our stay would have been so much better with an outdoor balcony - it was not nice to eat or hang out in a dark room with no proper windows.

The rooftop pool area is really nice. And the location is really nice - we got to easily explore the city by foot.

Be prepared that the kitchen is sparsely equipped - we had to ask for a second chair for the kitchen table, and a cooking pot. They are pretty good at getting these items when requested.

We stayed in the superior loft. Upon arriving everything was clean and tidy. We had everything we needed. We didn’t notice much sounds in the supiorior loft as we were tucked away at the concern of the hallway.

The pool area was lovely, however the only this was we had to constantly chase the sun as it moved throughout the day:/ the layout was meh.

We actually had to move rooms as we extended our stay. We moved into a smaller room which we actually loved more. There was more light, bigger deck and instead of cement we had glass railing, which allowed more natural light into the space. The only thing we noticed about moving to a new room was the noise. It was a bit louder but we brought a sounds machine with us so that helped:)

Really enjoyed. Would come back!

My wife and I stayed here from March 19 to 26. We had a first-floor suite with a kitchenette. Overall, it’s a beautiful place. The room was spacious, very clean, and had a small balcony that was more than sufficient for our needs.

The rooftop is really nice, although in my opinion it doesn’t have enough space when the hotel is at full capacity—especially if you want to lie down and sunbathe. That said, the pool itself is quite large. Interestingly, the jacuzzi was actually colder than the pool, which felt a bit odd.

The main downside was that the front desk staff member we interacted with spoke very little English—or at least didn’t seem willing to make much of an effort. He often switched to Spanish even though it was clear we didn’t understand it.

Despite that, we had a great stay overall. The location is excellent—very close to Mega Soriana (a large grocery store) and the fantastic Fuego Santo Steakhouse : )

A decent hotel. I can think of more good things than bad. Full-size refrigerator in the room, which is a little rare to find these days. The rooftop pool area is very pleasant. Good views. Street parking is available but be sure and pay for parking or you will be ticketed. There is a garage on site, but it is very small and narrow. The stairwell is very loud. Decent hotel but I don’t think I’ll be back. Would like to find something closer to the beach.

I had a great stay overall. The pool is amazing, and I really appreciated that my room was cleaned daily with fresh towels consistently provided.
The staff was very nice, welcoming, and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
The room itself, especially with the kitchen and balcony, was fantastic and added a lot of comfort to my stay.

There were a couple of minor drawbacks: the shower water pressure was a bit low, and the curtains didn’t fully block out the outside light.
Aside from these small issues, everything else was excellent, and I would definitely consider staying here again.

The staff is friendly and welcoming and very accommodating. The rooftop is nice as well. A little bit small in terms of space/it gets busy, but not the end of the world. This was the scariest experience. Was to meet someone at hotel, who was scammed seriously by this hotel. We felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that we didn't end up staying there. Spoke to some other local Canadians who said they also heard similar stories from this hotel.

This is what says :
BEWARE- MAJOR SCAMMERS!! I booked a reservation through What's App, after grabbing the number from Expedia and Google, +52 984 458 9539.
I paid them directly via transfer to JAZIEL MENDES GUZMAN. Luckily, I insisted on them sending me an invoice, which they resisted originally.
When I arrived, the receptionist told me that the \"reservation doesn't exist\" and refused to give me a room. She then told me that the phone number I was messaging was the \"wrong number \" even though it was advertised everywhere! She refused to honor the reservation
I later found out that this is a typical Mexican scam. The receptionist, manager and housekeeper scam people of paying them directly and then they split the money amongst themselves and then play dumb and innocent . Their typical excuses are \" we don't have this reservation, There's been a flood, we don't have electricity \".... Where is the owner of this hotel? Zero accountability for taking advantage of tourists.

Hello,
Reservation #72071827129533 at Sofía by Bunik. When we arrived, another guest in the lobby was complaining about being bitten during the night and asked to change rooms. His room was next to ours. We inspected our bed and found stains and small dark spots that resemble bed bug signs. For health and safety reasons we left immediately and booked another hotel. We did not stay in the room. I am requesting a full refund of CA $184.94.

The shower was a mess and the shower head wasn't working. The water was coming out except from where it was supposed to come out, and the water splashed all over the bathroom while taking a bath. I spent 10-15 after the shower drying the floors because the shower glass didn't do the work. Terrible thing to do while on vacation. This place needs to update their showers INMEDIATELY.

So disappointed, ensure your room is not on the first floor, if so, your balcony view will be a wall. Bedding was dirty and the room was infested with ants and other bugs. Hotel staff brought up a can of raid for us so spray down the room. If your room is missed for the cleaning service- there's no clean towels with reception. Placed a formal complaint with the hotel directly and I'm waiting to hear back on my reservation.
