Booked King bed master suite, when we showed up we were pressured to take a double bed suite which we didn’t agree with so we eventually got given the suite we booked. Im usually not one to complain about service but the rooms wasn’t cleaned for the first 2 days, when it was the towels were not changed ams folded up to look like they had been changed. The water in the sinks and showers had abismal water pressure and was almost impossible to shower or brush your teeth and when you did the lack if hot water was an issue aswell. On our last day the area suffered power outage and the hotel did not have a generator as a back up and we were left locked out of our rooms for about 2.5 hours from 8-10:30 pm, subsequently when the power came on we did not have any running water for the day that followed, even the toilets wouldn't flush. Its playa so we did some great people and the staff was helpful and friendly. Kudos to the servers on the roof top patio who made our stay more enjoyable.

We arrived early & in order to check in we were expected to pay a fee (which would have been ok ) but were informed that we had to pay in cash (questionable), no exceptions were made when we informed Jonathon (front desk ) that we didn’t have pesos or dollars…we were forced to go to ATM to withdraw cash. Once we got to our room, the shower flooded the bathroom & when we asked for additional towels it was an issue additionally the air conditioning was not functioning. Unfortunately our consensus upon leaving is that this hotel is poorly managed & the pictures on site are optical illusion.

Worst hotel I ever stayed in my life, after one week they kick you out when I reserved the place for longer, no warning, no hot water for the first 5 days, no sleep as well it’s very noisy, false advertisement, I came and bought the master suite with hammock, guess what? No hammock, jacuzzi was cold, jacuzzi jets not working, staff is rude to you, the maids even yell at you, staff rolled their eyes at me, did not make me feel welcomed at all for my birthday trip, this was special and they made it a nightmare, I was even crying on my birthday because of how they treated me, the cold showers were not what I expected, electricity goes out, no WiFi, no ac for hours, dirty floors and moldy showers, I really wanted to have a good time for my birthday but they ruined it, they are mean and rude and I wish what I experienced never happens to others, I was very very disappointed and very sad and will never recommend this place to anyone ever in my life

The place needs to be updated for sure. It’s nice because it’s right around the corner from the strip and walking distance of all the restaurants. We got our room upgraded when we got there but it wasn’t great. As soon as we walked in the room the smell of sewage pipes hits you. The curtains were torn lots of holes. The rain shower head most def needs to be changed. The water spits out everywhere but straight down. The tube in the room did not hold the water so a useless “hot tube” in the room. The bartender Danny was great super friendly very talkative! The whats up app is useless they take forever to answer to a message. This was my second time staying here and I def wouldn’t stay here again.

Let me preface by saying despite all the things that went wrong with the room, the staff at the front desk like Ros and the others were great and friendly and tried to do everything they could to help. The upper management however was lacking. I've never taken the time to write a review on a place but this was a sitcom level debacle - So here's what happened - I entered the beautiful room only to find a condom wrapper (yep, you read that right) on the floor by the bed, they did not have an equivalent room to stay in that night so I was offered a free Americano or Continental breakfast during my stay which I only used once because it was supposed to start at 8 am but in reality the kitchen only opened at 9:30 then there was no hot water in the room so I waited for that to be fixed, then there was no water pressure to fill the jacuzzi tub that is the highlight of the room so I waited for a maintenance guy to fix that and he told me apparently my room was literally the ONLY one with this issue, but at this point the hotel was full so I could not be moved rooms until the 3rd night THEN the safe died with my stuff inside so I waited for someone to open and replace the safe... finally I moved to an equivalent room on the third night (was only there for four nights). When asked for refund I was refused by management saying \"we moved you rooms, you got breakfast\". Not a great policy considering this was not just one thing. At least the staff were great.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The hot water situation could be better. I had a six day stay: two days the water was cold, two days it was luke warm, and the last two days it was much better, but not hot. The lights were off in the first floor hallway. Even though I reported it on the first night, they were never fixed. I also asked and was granted a room change due to a mold smell in my room.

I was very disapointed. I checked in, looked at the poor condition of the property and the dirty room , including the beds and knew I couldn't stay there. I most certainly couldn't have my girlfriend there. So I just took a shower - ha, no towels , and left and found another hotel. And, thet charged me an extra @ 35 dollars for absolutely nothing since I didn't even stay.

We booked this hotel for the jacuzzi tub and location. Location is ideal however we were there for 4 nights and had no hot water. Our room was nice and clean but the rooftop area around the pool was dirty and rundown. Absolutely a joke that this is advertised as a 4 star property.

Impressive photos, mediocre experience. I recommend looking at the reviews on other sites before staying here. The reviews on Hotels do not adequately represent the current property conditions and noise level. We were unable to sleep for our entire stay due to noise, either from the rooftop bar shaking the walls, or the surrounding hotel bars. The glass walls are beautiful, but do nothing to block noise. Everything is pretty rundown, moth eaten. No mattress cover and bottom sheet didn't cover.

I have stayed here before over past 3 years 3 or 4 times .The maintenance and updates have suffered .First the elevator wasnt working ,and no one to help ,if i didnt expect an elevator,that is ok but had to carry 5 bags up the stairs ,thankfully only 1 flight for me .The silicone around shower floor was old and cracked and water leaked all over floor ,the toilet quit flushing within 30 minutes .The overall condition of the room needed attention .Bed was acceptable although also could use a new mattress soon .Rooftop bar had no food because of elevator (understandable).Service was good for what they have to work with .location is good .Probably wont stay there again .

I am even surprised that Expedia keeps this hotel on its list, let alone advertising this hotel as a four-star hotel. This is completely false advertising. Was a decent hotel with some issues.

We checked in on a Saturday, third floor room and the elevator was out of service. Was told it was fixed only for us to then get stuck in the elevator. We checked out Monday and the elevator was still out of order. Not fun lugging your luggage up and down 3 floors.

The rooftop pool looked like it had not been cleaned recently. Oily haze and hair floating around made it unappealing. Went only once as it was not great.

This is the worst hotel Ive ever stayed at. First, despite paying ovee $100/night for 2 travelers, staff only wanted to give me 1 room card and they never gave me a 2nd card because “they were short on cards”. They charged a fee for a dirty towel that could have been cleaned in the washer. And last, the music from upstairs was on until around 3 am and was so loud it felt like it was right outside the room.

Maybe ok for couples since there is a club next door playing music till early morning. Hotel itself shows its age. We didn't have a door on the shower for example.. I will not return to this hotel. Besides the fact that the staff was very kind and nice, the room itself was mediocre, there were insects in the toilet and shower, and it felt unclean. There is a rooftop in the hotel and on weekends the music is played until three in the morning non-stop and you can't sleep. Feels like the music is in the room. I do not recommend. And again, the hotel staff was kind and nice, but the hotel itself is not pleasant and clean.

Overall our stay was nice. Close proximity to 5th Ave shopping and vendors. Your stay includes breakfast but not a buffet, more so one juice, one plate of food and that’s it. They give you a boxed lunch if you’re going to spend the day out on excursions, but you can’t have breakfast ABD a boxed lunch to go, it’s one or the other. The hot tub in room takes about 45 mins to fill up and doesn’t get too hot, but other than that it was cool. The TV doesn’t have any English channels so don’t expect to chill out and watch some good ole American TV. Safe place to stay overall, I would stay here again.

DON'T STAY HERE! I HAVE BEEN TO PLAYA AT LEAST 20 TIMES AND THERE ARE BETTER HOTELS FOR THE MONEY.

ROOM HAD BROKEN A/C AND IT WAS A FIGHT TO GET A NEW ROOM (8 HOURS AFTER I CHECKED IN!)

POOL WAS DIRTY, I DID NOT FEEL SAFE LETTING MY DAUGHTER SWIM IN IT.

ROOM HAD OLD BROKEN TILES IN BATHROOM AND I HAD TO GO DOWNSTAIRS TO GET BATHROOM TISSUE - NO PHONES TO CALL TO ASK FOR ANYTHING.

Our room did not have any water pressure or hot water. When we asked the front desk lady she told us a pipe had broken and she was very rude. She told me i would just have to deal with it and that she can't control the weather. We asked for a refund and to check out or our room and they refused to give us any compensation. We were in the room for less than an hour and didn't touch anything. The management at this hotel is very poor. She even admitted to knowing about the problem before we checked in and she didn't say anything to us.

We thought the hotel was overall excellent. It's located in the best part of the tourist area, beautiful clean rooms, and excellent service. If you're looking for nightlife, this is also a great spot. The outside noise did not bother us at all. We would definitely stay here again....

Note for hotel: We did not try the free breakfast, as we found it very limiting, and the pool appeared a little dirty when we were visiting... But it could just be from the extreme heat ;)

When checking in we sat andwaited as there was someone talking with the receptionist.. we thought it was a guest drinking a beer chevking in .. after a while we saw him go behind thedesk and realized he was a worker.. i was tired from my travels so i was upset .. they switched places and he sat down to check us in . He took my deposit gave me my instructions and when it was time to check out my deposit was gone.. they took about 45 minutes to talk to him and ask him what happened.. they went through their deposits and after going back and forth with him i told her there would be no way i could've stayed without a deposit or known how much their deposit amount was i told her he was probably drunk then she finally gave it to me .. needless to say we missed our flight.. we had no where to stay and had to take a flight the next day.

This is the second time I have stayed with Be Playa. The rooms are adorable, relaxing and clean. I have stayed at some of the most expensive resorts and this Hotel, is far nicer. I enjoy the service and the customer service from the staff. The Roof Top pool and drinks are also great. Walking distance to many activities and just a great place to stay. Will remain a returning customer.

The location is great and the overall aspect of the hotel is also great. Comfy bed, nice design and the pool is really nice. My main issue is with the hot water. Or the absence of it. We’ve been told it’s because probably everybody is showering at the same time.

Favorite place in Playa!

We have stayed at several hotels in playa now and this one was our favorite! The bed was more comfortable than any other place we’ve been, and the rooftop was amazing! Great pool, and the bar and bartender were wonderful. Very friendly and great drinks. They even had live music several of the nights we were there which was really fun. Staff was friendly, and we loved the included breakfast, great options. We are already planning to come back!

After a 5-hour bus ride, my husband and I arrived at the hotel to discover the elevator was \"closed\" due to a private party on the roof so we had to carry our luggage up three, narrow flights of steps. This wasn't a big deal but highly unusual, especially because there was very little light in the hallways. Again, not a terrible inconvenience but also not a pleasant experience after a long day of travel. Our master suite room was really cool with a hot tub in the middle of the room and an L-shaped balcony. The TV didn't turn on (could've been user error) and we saw a roach on the second night (not unusual for a beach vacation but still unfortunate). The rooftop pool was fabulous but the breakfast in the restaurant downstairs left a lot to be desired. Overall, we had a good stay and would consider staying here again.

We booked a room with 2 beds but when we arrived the receptionist told us that they no longer have the room booked with the 2 beds. When I asked for a refund to go to another hotel, they then offered me the master suite with jacuzzi for one night. the room with 2 beds was going to be available the next day. If we wanted to stay in the master suite, they would charge us $20 more per night. When I got to the master suite, it is nicely decorated however it was very dirty and the smell was horrible. The next day they moved us to the junior room which was much better than the master suite. Bathroom door makes a big noise.
The rooftop pool is nice but the water not clean. Filter is not running in the pool.
For breakfast: I am a coffee lover!
You are in for a big disappointment. Very watery coffee. The quality of the breakfast is minimal. And depending on the waiter, you can have good or bad service. No bread served and when asked they brought an untoasted bread. You're better off walking to the Maison Pierre cafe. Not a typical mx restaurant but a nice experience.
The sushi at be playa was ok and the drinks we ordered were ok. Overall, I give it a 2.5 out of 5. Quality doesn't match with the price paid.

Do not stay here! My room was broken into by hotel staff, safe was opened nad my valuables stolen. There’s a camera in the hall in front of the door and hotel tells me it does not work. Beware of the people at check in , they are looking out for people With cash since they ask for a 1,000 peso deposit , if they see you have cash , they might break into the room. Not a safe hotel. Do not stay here

The property is in a great location. Just a walking distance to restaurants and 5th Avenue. The only downfall was that my family didn’t enjoy the pool area because my child was not allowed to swim because it didn’t have a safety wall. We literally had to go to another hotel and pay extra to utilize the pool and bar for a few hours. Please do not say it’s kid friendly when your child cannot use the pool.

We absolutely loved staying at this property! Super clean, extremely helpful and friendly staff Great breakfast options (incl. 8-10am). Close to night life. The rooftop pool and bar is very fun. I will definitely go back.

When we arrived to check in, the man at the front desk told us he had no reservation in our name. I showed him the Expedia Confirm and he cut me telling me he didn’t care what I had, there was no reservation. I understand that sometimes there are glitches in the system, but I’ve never been treated so rudely in all my travels. It’s a shame too because I’ve stayed at this hotel before and was excited to come back. Let me know when this guy is gone so I can return

Be Playa's staff was amazing, very kind and attentive. The amenities were amazing in the Junior Suite. The hot tub was a plus although the room was beautiful by itself. Very comfortable bed and pillows and beautiful balcony. Breakfast was yummy as well as the boxed lunch.

The room at Be Playa was clean but very basic. No fridge in the room and the shower flooded. However, in terms of location, you cannot go wrong staying here. Everything is at your doorstep. The rooftop pool is small but nice to have. The sunbeds are comfortable and the drinks at the bar are good. Angus is by far the best in terms of service and he gave us a whatsapp line to reach him at with our requests. I would stay again if needed.

Wow this hotel is perfect for someone or a couple who wants to enjoy a beautiful stylish hotel with great staff. Located right down town in Playa, surrounded by several roof top pools.
The energy at this hotel is beautiful. Rooms are clean, the hotel is eco friendly, affordable, and convenient! Steps away from 5th ave, close to everything you need! Out door gym down the street, pharmacy’s, shops, spas. And everything is much cheaper “off resort.” There’s no room service unfortunately, and I would not bring kids here. It’s just not that type of scene. I would say this is an Adults only type of hotel. Relaxed, stress free, roof top pool side with a drink. Great hotel, amazing staff!! Cheers to Be Playa, really made our Honeymoon/Bday trip amazing!

Wonderful hotel and extremely great value. The location cannot be beat and the staff was so lovely and accommodating. Rooms were huge and perfect, rooftop was great. Ended up extending my stay and would stay again !

I booked a upgrade to a king bed. Was taken to my room and had 2 queens. Nothing was mentioned until i mentioned thats not what i booked.. she just said \"well its not available.. \" she was nice but its not what i wanted. i have bad anxiety and had expectations and was made to feel like .. this is what youre going to get.

Be Playa is a gem in a very jaded town. It has a calm and sophisticated vibe that makes you feel comfortable and at home. It could be a hip hotel in San Francisco, Berkeley, or L.A. The food was excellent-they had great seafood and sushi platters that were very creative and tasty. The staff was super friendly and even packed me a lunch when I went on a day trip to Chichen Itza. On that note: the breakfast that was included really hit the spot!

The only drawback was somewhat spotty internet reception. Overall: this is a very bright diamond surrounded by a really lame place.
