Overall experience was good but not great. Property is clean and well maintained, but a solid hour from the airport. Room was clean and well maintained but could use a facelift. Staff was nice, but not the best I’ve experienced. Food in restaurants was good for an all inclusive, not the best ever, but definitely better than most I’ve been to. Pool was good, but beach was pretty small. Unfortunately, the seaweed was the worst Ive ever seen in my life, to the point where even their cleanup efforts couldn’t make a dent. You could smell it all the way from the front of the resort. It made the experience not very enjoyable because beach was unusable, couldn’t get in the water, which made the pool areas quite overcrowded. All in all, it was a great resort, very nice views, good for the price, but probably won’t return.

We had an incredible long weekend at this resort. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating. We never went without a drink by the pool, all the servers were very pleasant, and the concierge service was friendly. The resort was very well kept, with beautiful views of the ocean from the pools, restaurants, bars, etc. The food, although the portions were smaller, were quite good for an all inclusive resort. We also appreciated the variety of lunch food that was prepared by the pool each day. One day, it was fresh seafood, the other was paella, and another day tacos. All prepared fresh and ready to eat throughout the afternoon. We also appreciated that we did not have to make dinner reservations, and were able to be seated within 10 minutes of putting our name in. I hate having to make reservations in advance at resorts - it's vacation and we don't like to be tied down to plans if we are enjoying the pool or our day! The location close to 5th ave and being able to walk around to shop, get a drink, see some of the culture, was also great. Overall, we highly recommend this resort and hope to be back next year!

I recently stayed at Devossion by Live Aqua, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.

While the rooms were clean, they were noticeably small and not what I expected for the price. The food was another major letdown very poor quality and extremely limited variety. The buffet was honestly one of the smallest I’ve ever seen at a hotel of this category. On top of that, the pool menu and room service menu were practically identical, offering little to no additional options.

What frustrated me the most was the pricing issue. I booked and agreed to a specific price in US dollars, but upon arrival, I was charged a different amount. The explanation given was a change in conversion rates, but that simply shouldn’t apply when the reservation was confirmed in USD. If a guest agrees to a price in US dollars, that should be the exact amount charged.

Overall, the hotel felt boring and lacked entertainment or activities. I stayed over the weekend and was shocked by the complete absence of any entertainment once the pool closed. I wouldn’t necessarily mind a quieter atmosphere, but the hotel markets itself as a “celebration” hotel yet there is no real entertainment team or organized evening activities to support that claim.

Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend this property based on my experience.

We enjoyed the devotion suite, except for the blasting music from next door during the beach club!! Staff with a tentative to our needs. If you want premium liquor you better watch them , pour it.... That was the only downfall. Also done book a fishing trip.As you might not go and you won't get your money back...

The hotel is absolutely stunning, with great service and some of the best room cleanliness I’ve experienced. The pool and beach are excellent as well.

When it comes to the food, I would personally prefer less variety and a higher overall standard. They really do try very hard, but as someone who has stayed at Live Aqua in Cancun, the food there is significantly better. For example, at the steakhouse the filet and the burger were excellent, while the New York strip steak was poorly trimmed and simply not edible.

Another example is that whenever I ordered raw fish, except for specific dishes at the Japanese restaurant it had been sitting in lemon for far too long and arrived overly cured rather than fresh and vibrant, which was disappointing.

Once you learn what’s good at each restaurant and which dishes are handled properly, you can definitely enjoy the dining experience but it does take some time to figure that out.

The alcohol is excellent, the service is good, and the selection is great. For anyone who isn’t particularly foodie-oriented, I would definitely recommend coming.

It’s a beautiful property. The staff was great although, my friend did have a few problems at check in and check out with one in particular lady. Make sure to keep all your receipts if you happen to buy anything and pay for at the time and not charge to the room. Other than that we had a wonderful time!

Spotless, outstanding location and staff. The drinks were well done and it was easy to find a chair by the pool or the beach. The food might seem limited to some, I don’t need a constant smorgasbord. Lots of variety- wood fired pizza, pasta, salads, made to order by the pool or beach. there was definitely lots of fish and seafood-. Everything I had was yummy and lots of grilled veggies which I love. . The steakhouse was excellent! Our room was gorgeous and we were upgraded to an even better suite during our stay. Then, if you want a break from the gorgeous beach, you are two blocks from a vibrant area of town. Live music, performers and shopping. Love this resort and the location!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this resort. Our room was clean and spacious, and the resort grounds were beautifully maintained. The food was very good—we especially enjoyed dinner at The Grill, Florella, and Flor de Sal.

The only downside was the swim-up room. While we paid extra for it, we weren’t able to fully enjoy the swim-up pool because the water was freezing cold and not heated, which felt like a bit of a waste.

That said, the staff truly made this experience exceptional. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming—especially Itzel, Alberto, Brenda at the front desk, and Mario and Oswaldo. Every staff member we encountered was wonderful. I sincerely hope management recognizes how valuable their team is and takes great care of them, because they are truly what made this feel like a five-star experience.

We would absolutely stay at this resort again—just likely without the swim-up room next time.

I celebrated my 28th anniversary at this hotel. Let me tell you it’s absolutely breathtaking. The service is immaculate here. From the time we arrived we were met with a fresh lemon scented warm damp towel to wipe our faces. We weren’t able to get a room until 3pm however we were allowed to eat and use all amenities until we were assigned a room. We had a personal butler….Yes, a butler her name was Katherine, she was awesome, very helpful and checked in with us daily. We had amazing pool service from Raul, he was always checking on us, getting us drinks and food quickly. Omar the waiter in La Cocina had a great personality loved to chat and was very personable. Carlos at bell desk was super friendly and helpful very attentive for sure.

The filet mignon at the steakhouse was on point and Christian our server was awesome, he made sure my food never touched anything I was allergic to.

The Dj In the speakeasy was on fire , he kept everyone dancing all night. 9:30 to 12 am is not enough, the music should end at 1 am when they close.

Drinks are top shelf at every bar, we had access to the VIP lounge on the 5th floor the view is gorgeous from the balcony and the staff are ready to make you anything or drink you would like.

We absolutely loved it here and we would stay forever if we could.

The people were nice and also the hotel but I give this place a 6/10 to be honest. The food was mostly terrible! The Grill had great breakfast but that’s as far as it goes. The Barbecue they had poolside was shockingly amazing compared to all the restaurants but we ate off site. I’m just sad that I paid so much for this hotel, for them to provide so little in food and entertainment. The drinks were pretty good but I’ve had better on cruise ships, which is my preferred type of vacation. Overall the best time I had in Playa del Carmen was on my excursion. Nice people but not a place id come back to again.

Lost a star because we upgraded to Vip, and that was worth it, but last day they decided to charge us additional for cabana by pool that we already upgraded for. So, that was weird, and rude as we decided to not pay additional after we already payed additional and used cabana all week. Just made trip a little bitter at end. So make sure u are clear about alll that is included in upgrade before u pay.

I had an excellent overall stay and would rate it a 9/10. The resort is modern, clean, and beautifully designed with mid-century modern touches that really fit my vibe. Restaurants are well designed, and staff throughout the property were friendly and professional.

Food was very good overall. The sushi spot stood out and was consistently excellent. The grill was just okay, and service there felt rushed, like tables were being turned quickly. Breakfast was always top-notch with great quality and variety; an omelet station with a unique twist would be a great addition. Minor food modifications at the grill felt inconvenient, and a simple request (no pork) was missed.

I stayed on the far left side of the resort, level 2, beach-facing. A neighboring beach club plays loud music daily from about 11am–7pm, which can carry into the rooms, so I recommend requesting a room away from that side if you plan to relax or nap.

Room cleanliness was about an 8/10—generally clean, but with some dust buildup, early signs of mold in bathroom corners, and a few finishes starting to feel dated. Room service food and menu options could be improved.

The beach had heavier kelp and seaweed during my stay, but the hotel or city was actively cleaning it, and it’s not always like that. It’s still a beautiful beach with a small breakwater. Cocktails were excellent, pool service was great, and there were no pushy salespeople.

We stayed at Devossion from January 7–10, 2026, to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Overall, the resort exceeded our expectations. Service across the front desk, butler service, room service, spa, gym, and restaurants was excellent, and the staff were consistently kind and professional. The spa and cenote were highlights, and the resort offered enjoyable daily and nightly events. While the food was good, additional dining options would be a welcome addition as the resort continues to expand.

The only issue involved a cabana reservation. We reserved a cabana through our butler the night before, checked in by 9:00 a.m., and left personal belongings as instructed. After leaving briefly around lunchtime, we returned to find our cabana had been given to another group despite our name being on the reservation list. Management declined to intervene to avoid a poolside confrontation and offered a 50% spa discount instead. While appreciated, the situation could have been avoided had the reservation been honored. This was disappointing, as we followed every instruction provided to us. We had spoken to America and Brenda. To be honest, America was barely any help at all. She lacked competency in handling the situation. This situation reflected a lack of accountability, and it raises concern about how similar issues may be handled for other guests. I truly hope this is addressed moving forward. Would I come back? If they added more restaurant choices and fixed their honorability. Yes

WOW! We loved everything about Devossion by Live Aqua Playa del Carmen. The food and drinks were amazing, the room was lovely. Our favorite part of our 2 week stay was the people working at the resort. Everyone, I mean everyone, went out of their way to help us enjoy a great experience! The resort is big, but we never felt like we were part of a crowd. The pace of the resort was perfect for us. We were a few steps from 5th Avenue with so much activity. We ate at all of the restaurants - all great - favorites were sushi and the the grill. The bartenders are talented and knowledgeable. Always friendly. The restaurant staff are terrific. A very positive experience! Take advantage of the daily classes and activities and please remember to tip and get to know the people who work at the resort!

The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive the one dissatisfaction regarding an additional charge of over $6,000 pesos that was applied to my service, which was never clearly or timely communicated to me.

Prior to the event, I asked on several occasions whether there would be any additional costs, as the event involved makeup services for multiple people in my room that were not guests, these persons would not be using any of the hotel services or amenities they would only go up to my room for a couple of hours to get hair and makeup done. At no point was I informed that there would be an extra charge, nor was I advised of an amount of this magnitud, when I had enquired all that was communicated to me was they just need to register with the front desk, I had provided a list of names and times of the individuals.

Upon later learning of this charge, I was required to personally go downstairs to attempt to resolve the issue. This caused a significant delay and disruption. Unfortunately, as a direct result of this lack of clear communication and the need to address the unexpected charge, my wedding ceremony was delayed by approximately one hour due to my late arrival.

This situation caused considerable stress and negatively impacted a very important moment for both me and my family. I believe this issue was the result of a clear lack of proper and transparent communication and I should have not been charged for what I was not informed.

This resort exceeded our expectations. The staff was absolutely incredible and went above and beyond for everything. Food was incredible which was a highlight for us! Clean, safe, walking distance to the downtown of Playa del Carmen (lots of other shopping, dining, and beach options).

The hotel is in a very great location however it is not worth the money. The hotel has limited things to do. No entertainment in the evenings and not enough food for guests. They only have 4 restaurants for dinner and the portions are very small. They claim to have 24 hour room service. However, no one answers the phone when you call reception or room service. We ordered room service one night using the tv in our room option and it never showed up. Our last night there there was a power outage in the area. The hotel ran on a generator and our room was located right next to the noise that went on all night and we couldn’t sleep. Our room got cleaned mid afternoon every day some days as late at 4pm. Very disappointed.

Me and my husband booked this resort for our honeymoon. We had a okay time overall, the highlight was probably the pool/ food. Most of the staff were friendly and we felt welcomed. However, we were extremely disappointed when my engagement ring was taken from our room. We let the hotel staff know and the security team was quick to respond. Unfortunately we couldn’t help but feel like nothing was really done and it was more our fault for not locking it in the safe (which didn’t open). The hotel never really took accountability and some of the staff were not very empathetic to our situation and just brushed us off until we left and we didn’t hear anything afterwards. I also requested a report of this to turn into our insurance as proof that the ring was missing, but I never received it or got a clear answer. It was a very sad/disappointing ending our honeymoon.

Clean, well organized, beautiful views, great beach, 1 block from 5th Ave and to top it all off … amazing friendly staff. We’ve been to a LOT of all inclusive from Playa Mujeres down to Tulum and have spent a LOT more $$ at others, and by far for the money this is the best we’ve been to.

Beautiful resort with great staff and a standout spa. The property is gorgeous, open-air, and in a great location near 5th Ave. Pool service was excellent, the steakhouse and daytime food were very good, and having Starbucks on-site was a huge plus.

The biggest drawback was limited dinner options, especially for non-seafood eaters, and little flexibility with substitutions. It’s a newer all-inclusive and you can feel some growing pains. Overall a lovely stay, but dining variety needs improvement to fully match the resort’s potential.

Our stay at Devossion by Live Aqua was incredible. Our butler team, Martin and Guillermo, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. They were very friendly and checked in with us frequently to make sure we were happy. They even surprised with us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries on our last day for our honeymoon. Special shout out to Santos at the Italian restaurant as well for taking great care of us as well! Our room was beautiful with an ocean view and our very own plunge pool, waterfall shower, and soaker tub. Overall we would 10/10 recommend staying at this resort and hope we can make it back again one day!

The minibar was not restocked prior to our check-in. The closet also had someone else's clothes on the top shelf. The bed was very firm. I liked the complimentary slippers and robe. I also liked most of the staff. I'm disabled and the male staff seemed very eager to offer assistance and, I noticed that they paid close attention to the patrons. Whereas, I was ignored, at times, by the female staff who seemed to not want to be bothered. Overall, I would stay here again. But, I wish they had better on-site entertainment. Having shows in the evenings would be a nice addition.

Property was clean and quiet, staff was friendly and attentive. The negative experiences I encountered was related to food. Ordered room service one night and the food didn’t come until 2 hours later. Food arrived cold and the portions were extremely small, also forgot the drinks and condiments that were ordered. The wait times for dinner at The Grill seemed unreasonable. This appears to be the most popular dinner restaurant at the resort since it’s a steakhouse. Quoted 40 minutes but still hadn’t been seated an hour and 45 minutes later. By that point, it was 10pm and the restaurant closes at 10:30. That night we ended up having to go off property for dinner which was inconvenient since we had done excursions and wanted to stay on property for the night.
Given that it’s all inclusive it would make for a better experience if they allowed dinner reservations for the sushi and steakhouse restaurants or perhaps even assigned a day and time upon check in.
