No Shuttle service to resort from airport, then purchased a excursion to see pyramids and that was a total waste of money as a bus took us partially way then informed us we had to walk for 45minutes to an hour to the actual pyramids, I couldn't do the walk as it was blazing hot and had to turn around and head back to the bus and wait. Many vendors which luckily 1 vendor let me rent a stool to sit on for $2 so I could rest enough to get strength to get back to bus.
Won't use this resort again with shuttle service.

My boyfriend paid for several additional room add ons and those items were not provided. Do not pay to upgrade your steak to premium meat because it’s not worth it. The chefs don’t know what medium of medium well is apparently. The elevators didn’t work. The pool with swim up bar was ok, but the service was better at the pool downstairs

There is no parking at the resort. You have to pay $10 pesos for 30 min and only can pay up to $60 pesos at one time from 10am-10pm. You do the math, can’t go on an excursion with that time frame and block on paying. US phones cannot use the parking app, we got booted even though we were trying to get change from the front desk. The elevator didn’t work the entire time of our 6 day stay. Weirdly, our safe kept locking us out even though we put the correct code in. Some of the staff tried hustling us when we purchased cabana’s, giving us different prices. My family and I will not be going back to this chain of resorts.

We had a great stay at this resort, the property itself was beautiful and well maintained, and the staff were kind and attentive throughout our visit. Cleanliness was good across the rooms and common areas. The food was decent overall, not the best we've had at an all-inclusive, but far from the worst. One drawback was the limited pool options, with only two on-site and the hot tub above having very limited hours. The overall atmosphere skewed toward an older crowd and was quiet, with relatively few organized activities or events during the day. Good choice if you're looking for a relaxed, low-key trip, but less ideal if you want a lively scene or a packed activity schedule.

It's hard to imagine a better All Inclusive experience at this price point. The food is truly excellent and the staff/service is impeccable. I could go into lengthy detail, but this is a smashing deal for a beautiful property that does everything well... OK, a few standouts... Coffee Shop, Sushi Bar, Quiet Pool w/swim up bar, all three specialty restaurants were legitimately wonderful, higher end (Call brands) liquor included (when others are using well/cheap)... Wyndham Alltra PDC competes!!!

My husband and I recently stayed at Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen and found it to be an average experience overall.

The biggest downside for us was the lack of proper beach access. We were also disappointed that certain areas of the resort had a noticeable sewer odor at times. The food was generally mediocre, and while there are several restaurants on-site, most require reservations. Unfortunately, reservation availability was very limited during our stay, and the first night, the only dinner reservation we could secure was at 10:00 PM.

The resort also lacks activities and entertainment throughout the day. Most areas seemed to close around 8:00 PM, and evening entertainment consisted of a live band from approximately 8:00–8:45 PM, with occasional additional music if guests were actively participating. The drinks were just okay—I'd rate them about a 6 out of 10.

On the positive side, the sushi by the second-floor pool area was surprisingly good. The 24-hour gym was a great amenity and much better equipped than expected. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable, especially if you can get a table by the window with a nice view. Booking excursions through Jesus was easy and convenient, and the resort's location is excellent, with many local shops and attractions within walking distance. We also appreciated that the rooms were clean, well-maintained, and kept comfortably cool with effective air conditioning.

Overall, Wyndham Alltra is a decent option if you're looking

This was the first all inclusive experience for my wife and I and it did not disappoint. We didn’t spend a dime our whole trip, everything from the food, pool, drinks, entertainment, free of cost. The Mexican restaurant was my wife’s first real experience with Mexican food and she loved it. The steakhouse had our fillets cooked perfectly. Other reviews mentioned the lack of food which we didn’t see at all we left stuffed from the buffet every day.
Upon arrival we were offered a discounted upgrade to an ocean view which was incredible.
Unfortunately there was a seaweed bloom also occurring which I seen some reviews about, but the ocean can’t be controlled by the hotel and it was literally happening all over the riviera.
We felt very safe our entire time and it was refreshing to see how green the resort was and their attitude towards wildlife.
Fantastic drinks, food, views, pools, and relaxation. We can’t wait to come back.

The elevator was not working during all our stay. And we stayed at the 4th floor. The room was just in front of the pool and it was so noisy, and the stuff couldn’t find us a fair solution (beside moving us to fifth floor, when elevator was not working). Overall the staff was friendly, the food was amazing, it was worth it for the value we paid.

Pros- great location two blocks from 5th Ave, food was good and gorgeous hotel. Rooms are well appointed and lots of room. Staff was nice but not always helpful with requests.

Cons: elevators out for a while now so stairs the entire trip. We asked for more pillows didn’t get them, asked for AC to be turned down took multiple calls to get it done. Needed to break some American bills down and they said they could but nobody would when we went to the person we were directed to. Hotel beach over run with massive amounts of seaweed that smelled horrible through resort. ( not hotels fault) just a note.

Spacious rooms. The entire property was well kept. People were polite and helpful. No reflection on the property but if you really want to spend time on the beach and in the water be aware that the sargassum ( brown seaweed) is heavy certain times of year. Needless to say the beach wasn’t an option this time but we didn’t mind because the pools were wonderful!!!!

Unfortunately, the elevator broke half way through our stay. It appeared to be the only one in the hotel. As someone who has a bad knee it was very difficult to go up and down several flights of stairs all day. Also, didn’t like that there were only ladders to get in the pool. Several elderly people at this resort and watched many of them struggle getting in and out. The food was fantastic and the room was clean.

Setting the seaweed aside cause they have no control over that. We had a wonderful stay at the Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen! The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our visit.

The resort was well maintained, and in a great location within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent with plenty of tasty options.

The pool area and overall atmosphere were relaxing and enjoyable. We highly recommend Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen and would gladly return in the future.

I loved my stay here! It was so nice being so close to the beach and the main 5th ave. The food was great and there was lots of variety so everyone could find something they like. I really liked the mexican and italian restaurant. Brasas was not super impressive but still decent food. The rooms were nice as well. AC was a blessing! Our power went out a couple times so that sucked but it didnt last super long. The pools were amazing, really enjoyed the rooftop pool the most. The bartenders were all kind and funny. The foam party was a highlight for sure!! Overall had a nice relaxing stay at Wyndham. Would highly recommend!!

Decent hotel for the price - but it is very dated. The rooms feel very old; the power went out and while the Hyatt across the road had power, this hotel didn't (assuming the generator is a poorer quality).

Food is okay (only received food poisoning one day) but often the same at the buffet.

Also the guests are mostly Americans, in case you need to mentally prepare for them

considering this was a adults only hotel the music ended at 10pm , the house DJ was boring and played very little current music . The foam party was great however that day there was no shaded areas by the pool. There were so many unused cabanas they took up far too much space around they pool. Because of the lack of parosoles my sister got sun stoke and was sick all night . The catering staff were really great they catered for vegetarians . My biggest gripe was considering the beach was covered by seaweed more spaces by the pool should have made . My party was only there for 4 nights and we lost one day to sickness due to no umberllas by the pool

Loved how large our room was. The staff and spa area, and sushi restaurant were the highlights of our trip. Great proximity to 5th avenue for local stores, souvenirs, and shopping. Pools were not ocelot crowded. LOVED the fresh juice bar every morning!

My only dislike was the buffet. There was a very different interpretation of the foods and wish there had been more protein options.

I’d really like to give this report a wonderful review because the staff were so friendly and because the major issues were related to the sargassum problem affecting that area of the coast. However, things could have been managed better.
The seaweed buildup along the beach is noxious, the sulphur smell permeates throughout the hotel and into the pirating system. Each day a team of ~8 men arrived at the hotel to shovel sargassum in black garbage bags, place them into wheel barrows and proceed to wheel it through the pool area, past the main restaurant, into the lobby area and out the back. On our last evening we took a look at the beach area and they had not made a dent. Again, this is a huge problem all along the coast, however, trucking it through public areas of the resort is not the answer.
Another issue, not entirely the hotel’s fault, are the raccoons that come out at night. They may look cute but they are still wild animals. We watched at least 4 wandering around in and amongst guests in the lobby bar. Not only is this not safe, it’s not hygienic.
The food at the hotel was okay with the Italian restaurant being the best option. We also enjoyed the steakhouse and the Mexican restaurant was our least favourite. We had issues with our reservations, the concierge booked us into the Mexican restaurant on a night that it was closed, which messed up our next reservation.
The best selling feature is its proximity to town, just 2 blocks to the main drag.

We absolutely loved this resort and will be returning! It is a smaller resort which is what we were looking for. The food was great and there were plenty of options at all of the restaurants and the buffet. We especially enjoyed the sushi bar that was located at the rooftop pool. All of the staff were exceptional but we had the most fun with Sebastian at the beach bar! I loved the architecture of the buildings and everything was kept spotless. All bathrooms were in extremely clean conditions at all times. There were bathrooms in convenient locations around the pools also. The beach is small but there were plenty of chairs and we were able to get into the water and enjoy it. It is a little rocky in places. Seaweed wasn't an issue. I think that the pier keeps it from floating up onto this beach. This is the first resort I have been to that I definitely plan on returning to.

The resort is very clean and walking distance to nice shops and restaurants. The pool was lovely with plenty of lounge chairs. The food was decent. The Grill had the best food but you must make reservations. This is not a beach front resort. There is absolutely no sand and the seaweed give off a sulfur smell . So keep that in mind when visiting. Overall I still really enjoyed my stay and my room was beautiful and comfortable.

THE FOOD WAS AMAZING.I thought my stay was amazing. I stayed there for over 4 days and realized what it means to be at an all inclusive resort. However, they had signs in the room that they do laundry service and you realize how important laundry service is when your sweating alot but they said they cancelled that service. Another thing was when I switched tables during the buffet service in the hotel, the hostess at the time questioned why I had done that like it was a big deal. Also, the person serving drinks seemed shocked I was there. I feel like people meeting new people and wanting to sit with others is normal at an adults only resort. Hands down the best worker I ran into the was the activities person. He led the water volleyball and water aquatics. Amazing personality. Also, the maid service was amazing. She organized everything.

The property was spotless and well-maintained throughout our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean, and while the shower pressure was just okay, we had no complaints about the accommodations. The evening shows were entertaining and a nice way to wind down. The drinks were fine, nothing special. The Italian restaurant was by far our favourite.

The location is a major plus. You're just a short walk from 5th Avenue, which is vibrant and perfect for an evening stroll.

❌ THE NOT-SO-GOOD
The food at the main buffet and most restaurants left something to be desired. The menu caters heavily to an American palate, which may or may not suit you. The Italian restaurant was the clear exception.

The biggest thing to know before booking: THERE IS NO BEACH. The waterfront is rocky, and if a sandy beach is on your must-have list, look elsewhere.

Pool chairs are another frustration. Guests stake their claim before 8am, and the staff does nothing to enforce a fair-use policy. Good luck getting a lounger if you sleep in.

The resort's vibe feels more like a retirement community. If you're looking for a lively, energetic resort vibe, this likely isn't your spot.

Bottom line: Great if you want a clean, relaxed base near 5th Avenue. Not great if you want a beach, a variety of delicious food, or a more dynamic atmosphere.

The smell is horrible.Pool was filthy.My friends white beard turned brown.It stained our metal cups and floats.We had to beg for toilet paper.You could not take your left overs.I got sick from something and after 2 days of not eating or leaving the room my husband we to the buffet to get me a roll or something easy on my stomach and they would not let him bring me food.We had to order food from room service for a extra cost and never got the food for well over a hour .The food although was good except the buffet was the same everyday and more veggies left over o. The breakfast bar.NO BEACH that was disappointing because they said there was .The Sushi was awesome.Spa was expensive and was not at all good!

The pool and overall resort experience were great. The beach area itself isn’t the best, but that personally didn’t bother me because I’m not someone who cares much about spending time on the beach. If having a great beach is a major part of your vacation, this may not be the ideal place for you.

One thing I would recommend before visiting Playa del Carmen is checking the sargassum conditions for the time of year you plan to travel. The amount of seaweed can vary quite a bit depending on the season.

The staff at the resort were exceptional — honestly some of the friendliest and most polite people we’ve encountered while traveling. Based on our experience, I would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone who is more interested in the overall resort atmosphere than the beach itself. I would definitely consider coming back.

One thing to be aware of if you walk around outside the resort: some locals may approach you and pretend to recognize you as a guest they previously served. They usually notice your resort bracelet and try to create a personal connection to sell something. It wasn’t a major issue, just something to keep in mind.

Ironically, the only negative experience we had during the trip came from a fellow American guest at one of the resort restaurants. His behavior and volume level completely disrupted the atmosphere for everyone around him.

Another tip to keep in mind is the restaurants, other than the buffet, requires a reservation.

The check in was easy. However there was a nasty smell. The smell lasted the whole trip and was very nasty. The room was nice and we were upgraded for free. You could not drink until 11am. They didnt even offer mimosa at breakfast. That was horrible. Then they stopped serving alcohol at 11pm. That was even worse. It forces you to go off the property if you wanted to drink. The food selections were not varried. The swim up bar has wrist bands in it and was not cleaned. The swim up bar was at the little pool and not the big one.

Third floor pool was the only swim up bar. It had a film in the back right corner that we had to constantly stay away from or move to the filter. There was a dead lizard at the bottom of the pool at one point. Not sure how often they clean it. Bali beds are an up charge even afternoon when they haven’t been used and it’s with items (lobster dinner and tequila) that we wouldn’t have wanted. No info given regarding restaurants days open, times or that majority needed reservations at check in. AC broke in room 2x after being moved. Food was delicious. Don’t get a room by the pool- if you want to nap or go to bed early, The stairs hinder housekeeping and in the AM you hear them pulling or pushing carts up or down stairs in the hall. It wasn’t the most relaxing, but we enjoyed it and maneuvered around issues that didn’t work for us to make the best. Overall it was close to 5th Ave- something we’d never done and it was a new experience! Some staff weren’t the friendliest or helpful. Daily entertainment lacked but again gor the mo ey it was a good resort.

The property is beautiful, though it was unfortunate that the seaweed was at its worst during our stay (5/1–5/11), creating a strong odor in the mornings when sitting by the pool. Speaking of the pool, I’m not sure how frequently it’s cleaned, as it didn’t appear to be serviced during our visit. By the end of our stay, the water had become quite murky, with a noticeable film of sunscreen on the surface in the mornings.
The entertainment staff were fantastic and kept each day lively and enjoyable with plenty of fun activities. Shout out to David and Carlos, keep doing what you're doing.
The Italian restaurant was by far the highlight, while the other dining options on the property were just average.
Overall, the property was spotlessly clean, and the staff were exceptionally pleasant to interact with.

The pools were nice, but they close at 7 p.m. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful but it's showing its age The reason I probably won't go back is because the smell from the seaweed made me nauseous. It's too bad they aren't doing anything to clean up the coastline.

The rooms were clean and updated. The hotel itself needs some work done. When we stayed there the ocean was covered in Seaweed there was no where to swim by the resort so we always walked to another side by a different resort to swim in the ocean. The activity team by the pool were the best. Chocolate David , Carlos and the ladies. They made it fun and enjoyable. It was the best part of the trip. The restaurant food was pretty good and good service.

My first time to this hotel/location and I can definitely say I will be back ! I loved the closeness of 5th Avenue and all it has to offer. The north beach was my favorite in the morning, and then the pool in the afternoon. The tireless efforts to remove the sargassum was amazing. The event staff was wonderful to interact with.. as was all the other staff members. So helpful and very kind. The specialty restaurants offered delicious foods, and I could always find something at the buffet I enjoyed. I was offered an upgrade to my room at arrival as it was off season, and I can honestly say it was the best decision to have that beautiful room and view! With all good fortune , I will be back next year! And bring more friends!

The staff was friendly and the place was always clean. Food was superb buffet was fresh and the dinners at night were great. They had some evening shows by the pool and some live music at night to listen to. The ocean was only a short walk around the corner (approx 2 min.) and shopping downtown was right down the street.

The staff was fantastic. Lots of entertainment by the pool and lobby. Quick service at the bars and restaurants. Room was perfect for the getaway my wife and I needed. Wish we could have used the beach but it was seaweed season. Felt bad for the workers that had to remove all of it. But all and all was a fantastic property and loved every minute of it

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham Alltra in Playa Del Carmen. I loved being able to stay in an all inclusive that was still in a central/ downtown location so it was easy to go offsite and explore the local scene. The pool was warm, and comfortable, hotel wasn’t too busy, and the food (especially the Mexican restaurant) was great. Service overall was very good.

This was a smaller resort than I have stayed before. That made the service so much better! The staff were all pleasant and attentive. Everything was always clean. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool and water. It was really easy to get reservations to any of the restaurants. We tried them all and kept going back to The Mexican restaurant. We had our favorite waiter, Rafael! We tried the spa services too! One of the best massages we had. And excellent body scrub. They also have a circuit of sauna, cold plunge, steam & hot tub. I loved the cold plunge. We did a day excursion and we were easily picked up from our resort. There are also two ferry terminals within walking distance. If you like night life and shopping they are both steps away from the resort. This resort was excellent!
