The location close to 5th Ave was perfect. The quaint hotel itself was clean and well maintained, the staff was friendly, helpful and English speaking. We had rooms that had roof access to lay in the sun or sit at a table to have our coffee and breakfast. There is an elevator. The beach access is not the best but the staff arranged passes to the Fragata Beach club that was a good walk away.

The room was nice clean so was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable for us, we enjoy a harder bed so we had a for us, we enjoy an harder bed. I like the upper terrace. And you could lounge there and spend some time in the sun. The staff was really really helpful and actually we were very pampered as Jose took it upon himself to arrange everything for us. Laura was also very nice. The pool was nice though could use a little more cleaning of the leaves, but we understand that leaves are gonna fall since it’s rounded by trees. The breakfast was… It had nothing Mexican. Let’s say it is nutritious and it will do but not anything to be excited about. Minus the fresh papaya which was really good. Another thing that I have to mention is that the hotel‘s location is right near Avenida 5th, which is the heart of the city with lots of entertainment. since it was the New Year’s Eve and winter celebration, the noise was noticeable. We didn’t care much about as we had earplugs. But some other people may object. Just be warrant. Overall I had a fantastic time and I would return any day. You don’t need a car you can walk everywhere. Be prepared. There will be some hiccups with arranged things like transportation and not arriving in time or little missed connections, but overall things work out. Again many greetings to the staff and we will come again.

We arrived in a raining day. The hotel is located next to the busy 5th Ave. We had difficulties to find the parking site. There is no sign and the gate is locked. I wish the hotel let us know how to access in advance. The two bedrooms suite is really big, clean and welled equipped. We could not run hot water when we took shower. The manage team let us to use another empty unit next to ours which is really helpful. The breakfast is included. Comparing to other hotels we stayed during the trip it is way to simple, as a brand of Wyndham, this section shall improve.

Lovely large rooms, great space middle of town 50 ft away from 5th Ave, close to beach. Hotel managers very informative, friendly and welcoming. Helped us with finding great dining places, and even a laundry mat. Hotel is clean charming and has private balconies on the roof top. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Staff and service were excellent. They tried very hard to accommodate us. Property is outdated. Room smelled moldy and noisy. They changed us to another room but the AC didn’t work so we changed back to the room facing the street. We were told by 11pm noise should be reduced but it wasn’t the case. The noise from the night club went on until around 5pm. It wasn’t worth the price we paid. We could’ve gotten better hotel for less.

We expected a single room but got a full, spacious unit with a proper kitchen—super comfortable and quiet. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the beach. The staff were outstanding: professional, friendly, and proactive before and during our stay. Special thanks to Miguel (night shift) for going above and beyond several times. We’d happily stay again. Tout était très bien! À l’exception qu’un gérant nous a volé $200USD dans le coffre-fort! Seul un gérant pouvais voler avec le module de programmation. Il a accusé les femmes de chambres mais elles n’ont aucune possibilité de voler dans le coffre.

J’aurais aimé obtenir une compensation mais rien n’a été offert car ceci aurait confirmé la responsabilité du gérant!

The initial room we were given when we checked in late in the day, wasn't great. It was rather small, felt unkept and the bathroom had water pressure issues. When we brought up the issues to the management, they were happy to make the switch the next day and gave us the free upgrade to a suite. Which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Laura- one of the manager was very accomodating and all the hotel staffs were helpful and friendly. Acanto felt like home during our stay!

The property is cute, but if you’re like me, you probably won’t like the noisy bed sheets.

The breakfast consists of boiled eggs and coffee, some individual cereal boxes and toast.

This was the perfect stay! We came for my daughter’s 18th birthday. The condo was perfect for the six of us. The option for the 3 bedroom 3 bathroom was exactly what we needed. The hotel staff was beyond professional and accommodating, they were incredible!! A wonderful change from the all inclusive scene, we enjoyed walking 5th Ave, exploring the town and even some time at a beach club. We will definitely return❤️

This unique property is beautiful with typical Mexican flavor. It is also located in the heart of the shopping \"La Quinta\" street. Staff is friendly and specially the night staff, Miguel. He is pleasant and can provide any information you need.
There is a secure bank ATM that you can get Mexican pesos around the corner from the Hotel. Our room suit was awesome and clean with new refrigerator and freezer. Microwave and stove. Air conditioner was perfect and crispy cold. Loved the ambiance and the terrace that oversees the ocean. I love this place and will return again. As for beaches need to go to El Canto Private Beach. Super clean, food service and beaches are absolutely clean. However, there is a cost $1000 Mpesos and return back to you $350 Mpesos credit for food or drinks. We will be back.

We can see why people return to this hotel year after year. It’s a true gem. Quiet, charming, comfortable, and clean. It is very close to everything. Lili at the front desk is so very helpful if you need to plan a special event or excursion. She also arranged our transportation to and from the airport. Miguel is the evening concierge and security. He is also very helpful and so kind. He was always waiting to let us in if we got back to the hotel after the door was locked. Always greeting us with a big smile. The continental breakfast has a nice selection and is prepared daily by a very nice lady who’s name I did not get. This hotel is as it looks in the pictures. Spacious rooms, very clean, and so welcoming.

We were so impressed with our stay at Acanto!! This boutique hotel is beautiful, prestine, unique and peaceful considering it is in the heart of 5th Avenue and a few minute walk to the beach. The rooftop patio has an amazing ocean view and bbq - eating and lounging area. The pool is situated in the middle of the open sky courtyard and very clean. The staff were very friendly, the included breakfast was perfect, the suite had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We felt very safe - the doors are locked at night but staff there to let you in at any time of night. The shopping, bars, restaurants, beach clubs, beach - everything you come to Mexico for was right there at our fingertips. We will definitely return! Highly recommend!!

Truly enchanting, this smaller and more intimate hotel proved to be an excellent choice. The suites are beautifully furnished with comfortable beds and tasteful decor. A reasonably stocked kitchen with a full size fridge and stovetop. Staff are wonderful and quick to please. Just steps from 5th avenue it was remarkably quiet and calm. Walk to the beach or enjoy the pool in the courtyard. The rooftop patio has a bar-b-que, tables and chairs, loungers and a fantastic view of the ocean. And there is always a cool breeze. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Loved the location - close to ocean, 5th ave, restaurants, shops and grocery/supplies. Free parking in underground lot.

Very nice staff- especially the gentleman who works overnight. Aircon had a hard time keeping up with heat. Not terrible but not great. Room well appointed.

Indoor pool is very small. Our penthouse room did not have great view of ocean from room but we did have a roof top patio with great view via a spiral stairs next to room. Continental breakfast was ok. Not the fault of hotel but electric power went out twice in 2 days (8 hours then 5 hours) which of course means no aircon, elevator, lights, etc. hotel does NOT have a back-up generator or flashlights, lanterns, etc. . Some of the beach areas had an unpleasant odor (rotting seaweed/ fish/ sewer).

We were advised by friend's who live in area to NOT trust local water- always use bottled water for drinking, ice, teeth brushing, etc.

Would return to this property if we came back to PDC … but we’d bring a flashlight.

We had a one bedroom apartment which was clean and spacious. We had a few problems with the shower and toilet which the maintenance staff addressed, but it still was a bit of a problem. The staff were only too happy to help out with information on where to shop for supplies, restaurants and transportation. Unfortunately, the beach was a bit of a disappointment. There is a constant seaweed problem that they are trying desperately to keep clean. Watch out for the service charges for the beach clubs. They charge 500 Mx or $30 USD per person fee plus charges for your drinks and food. We had 2 drinks each plus 2 appetizers and it cost us $90USD. There is NO notice telling you this until the present the bill.

I got a suite that was spacious,,comfortable and had two balconies. One Juliet balcony and one larger one with seating. The rooptop was pretty nice. The pool was pretty but on the small side. Friendly staff. Complimentary continental breakfast. The few cons — shower head needs replacing/upgrading — a rainfall style one would be amazing. More kids on the property than I would have liked. A little noisy some of the nights we were there — from the street outside the hotel.
Overall, though, I’d stay again. Reasonably priced, too.

I am really surprised that Wyndham would put their name on this hotel. The rooms are tiny. The faucet in the bathroom does not align properly with the sink making it almost impossible to use without getting the counter all wet. I could hear loud music until 4am, and what sounded like a pump cycling every 3-5 minutes all night long. It was so loud it would wake me up even after I managed to get to sleep. The shower was impossible to turn on without getting blasted with cold water. The front doors are windows that look right in to the bed. The only reason why I am not giving it one star is because the night security guard is super nice and helpful.

Carla and Miguel were so helpful and accomodating. The property itself was very clean and well kept, and amazingly, for being a half block off of 5th Ave, very quiet. We had the superior one bedroom suite, which had a private roof top deck. Amazing views from both the rooftop deck and from our living room window. The hot water and water pressure were a little spotty, but we've learned to accept that when traveling out of the US. Who wants a hot shower after a hot day on the beach anyway!

1. Staff was 5/5. Very accommodating and helpful. They don’t automatically clean the room or change towels but have no issues doing so upon request. Beach towels are provided upon request. Front desk ladies linked us up with an affiliated tour operator for discounted Chichen Itza tour (which was excellent). We were allowed early check in and late check out free of charge, which helped us manage our time so much better.

2. Location was 4.5/5. It was just off 5th Ave and about a block away from the beach, but that said, it’s relatively far (12mins walk which feels more like 25mins under a 37C sun) from the ADO station which is where the hub of activity seems to be (buses, ferry to Cozumel, Parque de los Fundadores) and the nearest beach isn’t the prettiest section. Mamita’s is just a short walk away though.

3. Property was 4/5. The look of the whole building is charming (just like in photos). The room is spacious and well-appointed, but the age of the property does show. The light fixtures are a bit dim now, the shower head has uneven water pressyre and there’s a bit of an “old” smell. All in all, not bad but could use an update.

We had a few minor issues that were promptly addressed. We had the penthouse with the ocean view ...it was very private and peaceful.

Highly recommend if you prefer a place like home where you can cook your own meals or grill on the terrace

Location is fantastic...just steps away from the always bustling 5th Avenve and just a few streets away from the beaches, stores etc.

The property was centrally located and was indeed a very quiet and hotel. In addition, we felt very safe during our stay. We were about 5 minutes walking distance to the nearby grocery store which was the Mega Soriana. Our housekeeper Letty was always checking in on us to ensure that we had towels and our room kept. Miguel was so amazing throughout our stay. We did have 1 hiccup as we were on the 4th floor as the elevators were not operable. However, they were fixing them during our stay. We asked to be moved to the 1st floor and were moved immediately. I also high recommend the hotels transportation recommendations of Riviera Quest private transportation with Luis. Luis was very responsive and prompt from picking us from arrival and departure to airport. The price is extremely reasonable as we did shop around. I highly recommend Luis' services!!
Overall, great experience and the hotel is so cute and homey.

Great location in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Convenient to beaches, shopping, and restaurants. The two bedroom suite was spacious and comfortable, and the courtyard/pool area was lovely. The property manager Luis went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a pleasant one, and the receptionist Liliana was very helpful in making beach club and dining reservations. We very much enjoyed our stay!

The property has a very good location for shops, restaurants and its the center on 5th avenue. Has a lot of options for transportation and has a lot of walkable areas as well as the beach. Miguel was very helpful!

Location was great. Property is old, room was super small, lady in front desk was rude.
No hair dryer, no iron, no coffee machine, you have to ask.
Small pool in the middle so it’s noisy when people swim and hang around.
The only thing is the location was good.

Quiet but walkable to restaurants and shopping and beach and ferry. Parking was secure. Facility is a little worn down but the rooms are good. Wish breakfast was expanded to 7-9/10 instead of 8-10 and had more options

Cute boutique hotel in perfect location for shopping/dining and beach. Not fancy but reasonable price and off street enough to avoid noise from 5th. Bed was good. Shower was nice with lots of hot water.
