3rd time at Bahia, 1 after the ownership change, still find the staff is amazing, activities on site are available and fun. Variety of food at the buffet/snack bars. We go as an adult couple and still find quiet time/ party areas/ the beach gets cleaned daily, plenty of small wild life to take pictures off. Scuba diving not available on site, but easy to book via the tour desk.

We had traveled to Bahía Príncipe Akumal in 2023. We returned this year, but to Grand Tulum. Our expectations were set extremely high when we went to Akumal, and were slightly let down visiting Grand Tulum. We were in a group of 8 and were told at check in we would not be able to eat together, and dinner reservations could only be set for 3/5 nights there due to restaurants not being open. 2/3 restaurants we went to were not great, honestly the buffet had better food! The AC was set and we didn’t have the ability to change it so the room stayed at 75 degrees. The pool, entertainment, golf, and workers were absolutely fantastic. Not sure I would come back to Bahia after this experience.

This was such a lovely resort. It had amenities for families and singles. The varieties of pools was lovely. The evening entertainment was fun. The buffet was great- changing most evenings but always have a great Mexican part. Our group loved the food truck and all the snacks it offered during the day and late evening. And the drinks were on point. The only sad thing was that lots of the restaurants were closed so it made getting bookings hard- I would suggest trying to book well in advance to get a decent spot. We unfortunately were unable to get any. Tulum is a 20 min drive from the resort and super easy to get to with public transport.

The kids club was great and the staff was very kind. The pools were great, The food options were quite limited throughout the day. Breakfast ends at 10:30 AM, and there is only one location available for breakfast, which makes it feel restricted.

There is a food truck on-site, but the offerings are mostly geared toward kids, lacking variety and not particularly healthy. In other places we’ve stayed, there is usually a fruit buffet available all day, along with a café-style area offering pastries and light bites. Here, there is no easy access to fresh fruit or a selection of pastries during the day.

Around 4 PM, if you want to sit and have something small with a drink, the only option available is cookies, with no real variety. Overall, the lack of food options and variety makes the experience feel less pampering and less enjoyable.

Additionally, there are no waiters providing service around the property, no room service available, and no bar on the beach, which further takes away from the overall experience.

On a positive note, the restaurants at the hotel were good. In summary, it’s a good place for children, and the kids’ club is excellent. For adults, however, it lacks indulgence, especially when it comes to food options.

Great amenities for the whole family, a lot happening all the time and the use of other resorts is a great bonus. The only downside is rooms could’ve been a little more updated (hotel needs to update the rooms (bathroom shower would leak onto the floor and there were some cracks in the floor). Otherwise very pretty and right by the beach if staying at Tulum.

Bahia principe explore tulum was a great experience for me and my family. Best part of booking through Expedia was that we got an upgrade to pink belt which will allow us to use Akulum and sian-kaan for food, pool and drinks.

Overall buffet and other area of Tulum are good but Akulum feels luxury. Staff was already ready to help and kids were having fun at kids club.

If you are going to Bahia Principe resorts, book it through expedia for the VIP treatment.

This was my 7th trip toBahia resorts in the area…… Sadly the last few years since covid resort has went downhill….. Buffet food is subpar and reservation restaurants have lowered the quality and quantity of food and options….. Maintenance isnt keeping up with small fixes towel racks falling off walls broken tiles toilet seat falling off…… Resort is still beatiful and entertainment team is amazing. Sadly this will be my last visit because i loved this place.

The rooms were clean. Some staff was friendly and others were rude. The resort has plenty of room and lots of things to do. A couple of things that need improvement were being able to make reservations at the restaurants. We could not get into one the whole time we were here. We ate at the buffet. And the pools need to be open later than 6 pm. I would definitely return as for the most part it was a great trip

This was our first all inclusive. Buffet was impressive, lots of variety & kids loved endless Pina Coladas & ice cream. Shows in the evenings were a nice surprise and kids club events every day! We had trouble finding some of the posted events like Pilates class. Kids pools and areas have lots to do and everything is very clean and well taken care of. It was hard to find a quiet relaxing vibe. Wasn’t impressed with the beach area, got kicked out of some chairs in the only swimming part of the ocean, “Akumal guests only”. We had no idea! Just felt confused a lot, had trouble finding the buffet the first night after flying all day, they wouldnt let my kid in having swimsuit on. (I understand, but we literally had just shown up & didn’t know.) All the pools close at 6pm and there is no hot tub.

Hotel definitely needs to be updated. The hotel staff were great however, the hotel was very understaffed. It got pretty boring fast because the buffet was only one available for us at the Tulum location. The beach was definitely not good at all a lot of seaweed I love to spend my time on the beach and in the water in the ocean and that was not the case with this hotel. The upgraded rooms were actually pretty rundown still air conditioning was not great when I first got there I could really see myself net picking everything and overall I’ve stayed at other places like grand Palladium, Barcelo, and riu and this place was definitely at the bottom of the list. another huge problem was restaurants were very difficult to get a reservation for supposedly you’re supposed to reserve restaurants of the 10 days before you get there but we were unaware of this so we got there almost every restaurant was booked and there’s no wiggle room to get it later. Luckily, we got the Brazilian steakhouse for the last day of our trip and that was very good. like I mentioned the staff were actually great. It was just very understaffed. Lots of wait time for drinks if you’re looking for an all-inclusive hotel I would only stay there if the financial differences were a lot lower than comparable resorts

Towels in the room are old and scratchy. Place shows lots of wear and tear. Dining room is kind of dark and noisy at Tulum. Much prefer the dining room at Coba and Akumal. Shows were not very good. The sound was loud and muffled.
Liquor was low grade and drinks were terrible tasting. Tried several mixed drinks but same awful taste. The only thing that was fine was the beer.
Beach at Tulum is very narrow, so no seating on the beach and no playing in the sand for the kids. Next time I would stay at Akumal: better liquor, nice beach with seating, small quiet cove for kids to play in the water, shallow snorkeling and playing in the sand.

We were very surprised and disappointed in the dinning and food options. We had never been to an all-inclusive that you didn't actually have access to the restaurants. They were all booked out during our stay. I was not able to find the information anywhere online that indicated that you had to book ahead of time or that we also only got one other meal during our stay. Drinks and very cheap and weak and not enough stuff to serve the guests, always lines everyone, one big buffet to serve this amount of guests it’s really bad.

because the whole resort smelled like poop and we had turn of our AC , the smells was coming through the vents and it smelled like something died, I would not be coming for sure
We where allowed 3 dinner s but no reservation are available to some good restaurants on the resort
We couldn’t swim at the beach because it’s all covered with seaweed
No one was allowed to swim plus you would not want to because the beach area is small, water is dirty and full of black seaweed

Do not go here! Other than our room being clean it was terrible. For an all inclusive resort this place was far below my expectations. Food and drinks are not available at times, and if you need to eat you are left paying an arm and leg for chips. Also a scam - while I was in the all inclusive buffet for lunch, a hostess came to me and said she was charging my room for my plate of food. I put my plate down and said no you aren’t I don’t want it anymore and my son and I skipped the meal. That said, the check in staff were wonderful. But I did not receive any type of compensation for the terrible experiences and services. Waste of money.

The 2 bedroom suite was perfect for a family of 5. Wish the property had hot tubs, room service and accessibility to all the restaurants. The beach, well... the only beach to go into the water due to the seaweed was 15 minute walk to the other resort. It was ok. The resort itself was beautiful with friendly staff.

Not the worst resort or the best resort. Felt like everything was an upgrade charge, especially for premium alcoholic beverages. Beverage promotions that we asked for over multiple days were not actually avaliable., For an All-Inclusive it felt it was only 80% All-Inclusive. Extra costs throughout for everything, food, booze, activities. No communication for any entertainment in nightlife, were forced to use an location specific travel cellphone App. The App was used for everything including asking for more toilet paper.

Unless we have children traveling with us. We will always choose somewhere else.

1. Other than the front desk, the bar tenders, servers , waiters , kitchen staff will not speak in English.
2. Buffet food is not worth the money. Verfy few varieties, no vegetarian options,

9. Airport transfer should be included in the pricing, it was a surprise for us to know that we had to pay for the airport transfer
10. The cheffs in the live counter in the buffet area won't speak in English purposely making it easy for avoid for them to take our food request
11. Expedia should stop recommending such resorts and should not really be in this business.

My 2nd time at particular resort. I have a feeling that resort is little bit in ‘saving mode’.

Felt like food was better previous time, and booze was higher end, less alacarte options included (only 3 vs 6)😎

No birthday gifts of recognition from hotel this time.

Overall still great pace to go.

Staff was awesome, very clean resort, spotless comparing to other places I have seen.

I walked in several neighborhood hotels as well, and should say that Bahía Príncipe Tulum was still the right choice.

The staff was amazing - cleaning, restocking the mini bar, wait staff, activities people, transport drivers - courteous, eager to please. We took a tour and a mini Spanish lesson with Ximena. She was knowledgeable, charming and went at our pace. AND the food! Wow. Tons of choice, all excellent. I liked how they had the pools divided according to who was using them - kids, party people, quieter people. Smart. Many loungers available everywhere, esp the beach. Loved having the market on site, bicycle tours on site. Loved the transport system. The only drawback was the ocean. The sargassum is piled up on the beach and stinks. We found an article that said it absorbs heavy metals. We felt congested when we were near it. It's in the water, too. We were there in March and the water was rough (red flags the whole week) and knocked you around and off your feet. The waves and the sargassum made it difficult to navigate the coral bottom which was hazardous even with water shoes. Guest services staff should continue to learn English and the computer systems eg booking meals at each of associate resorts

This is a hard one to review. The property was overall clean, pool was very nice, kids enjoyed the rec room (shout out to Carlos). I feel the staff was fantastic. All worked extremely hard. I've honestly never felt worse for the beach cleaners as i did there. A losing battle with the sea weed. There must be rules against a bobcat with some sort of forks to make their job easier.

I got a little off track. If you go on vacation and sit around the pool, then this is a very nice resort. Sitting along the ocean wasn't relaxing with the workers and loaders working on the seaweed.

We have a 12 and 9 year old that love to snorkel and this just wasn't the location. There was a spot at the akumal resort but it wasn't great. Maybe it's ok but when comparing to other resorts the kids were bored.

The only other complaint was the buffet. It just seemed like it was the same thing every night.

All 4 of us really enjoyed the truck though (quick bite food)!

The Brazilian restaurant was very good. The indian was ok but nothing to brag about.

A great stay in a beautiful location. I would call it a 4 star not 5 star but good for us -we are no frills folks so it felt luxurious. Some people might complain about minor issues. Running put of wine at the bar, minibar not restocked completely, but once you ask for something- they are responsive. When we arrived late in evening, our room smelled like a sewer and the tv didn’t work! Not a great start. When I spoke to the front desk the next say- immediately responded- fixed within the hour.
Buffet very good- a few new options every day. Reasonably fresh. Some favorites run out; to be expected. Loved the pizza and shrimp ceviche.
Make sure to book your a la carte dinners before you arrive. They are worth it, but fill up
fast.
Overall, I enjoyed this resort and would recommend, as long as you aren’t an entitled jerk.
Warning! There has been a lot of seaweed washing up. They try to clean it up, but there was too much this week! The water still warm and fun to swim in.

Our room could have used a little bit more tidying but the staff are what made our stay so great. The entertainment staff and bartenders really made an effort to make our time enjoyable, fun, and feel like home. Librado, Julio, and Rodrigo were incredibly friendly and always put a smile on our faces. They are so so sweet.

The entertainment staff, including Carlos, Giampaolo, Alejandro, Claudia, Job, and Xim were all so amazing. Besides having a great time at the resort, we made so many friends. Each and every staff member made our stay amazing - Bahía Príncipe Tulum truly wouldn’t be the same without all of the staff.

Room was ok. Pull out bed wasn’t great. Was hoping for two beds but got a king and pull out couch which really wasn’t comfortable at all.

Issues upon check in. Delay of 60 minutes cause the room wasn’t ready (this was after the 3pm check in time). Initial room we had smelled like nail polish remover. Had to be moved.

They extended our check our as good will.

Couldn’t get any a la Carte’s we wanted.

Overall the resort is good. My biggest issue was the room - very old, loose outlets, no drawers, zero bathroom counter space. I paid to upgrade and was upset i paid extra for that room, although by upgrading i got a better location close to buffet/pool/lobby etc. I personally really enjoyed the food, as a vegetarian i always had something. I never had to use salt /pepper, everything had good flavor. However it IS repetitive, but for me it wasn’t an issue. If you are a food snob you might not be happy but i liked it. Biggest complaint is half the food isn’t labeled or labeled incorrectly, which is difficult for someone with dietary restrictions. Also for some reason they don’t give you spoons for the soup, you always have to ask your server for one. I liked the entertainment - the magic show was great. I liked the hacienda area with the shops and the stage. I also really enjoyed the wildlife on property! The beach was nice /relaxing but there was lot of seaweed so i never went in the water. Also no waiter service on the beach. Didn’t do the Mexican fiesta cuz it was extra cost. A few nights it was lively on property and in the dinner buffet, other nights felt very quiet and dead. I booked tours through the amstar desk on property. The 3 cenotes tour and xplor were great, don’t do the ATV to Cenote tour (2 hrs) that leaves from the property, you only get 25 min at the Cenote. We did don pablo at tulum and japanese/peruvian fusion at tequila for restaurants, both were great

Staff was great, and the grounds were beautiful, however we were upcharged 100 usd to stay in a “newly renovated room”, but the definition of what newly renovated is didn’t match the expectation. Room was nice, however the furniture and the fixtures (ceiling fan) were rusty and dated and the water temperatures during the shower would swing between hot and cold constantly. Food overall was ok. Beaches while we were there had a lot of seaweed, but workers are actively cleaning it. Suggest bringing water shoes as some parts of the beach are more rocky in nature. Also lots of wildlife on property if you enjoy the sort of thing.

Hotel is really pretty with with a lot of natural wildlife but it was overall very disappointing. Drinks were all so watered down they could have just been mocktails. Food was mediocre. It’s hard to get reservations at the à la carte restaurants but when you get there, they are half empty. They are obviously blocking reservations and pushing you to the buffet to save money. We checked in on New Year’s Day, and there was only one place open for food with a two hour wait. Not exactly the all inclusive experience I was expecting. The beds were unbelievably hard. There are so many better hotels in Mexico.

The resort was nice overall but could use some upgrades to the rooms. The shower was small, the room was pretty warm, and the food was just okay. I’ve had better food at other resorts. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here but I’m not sure that I would return.

Negatives: wifi is really bad, water in rooms does not get very hot, hard to get reservations for restaurants

Positives: Food for all inclusive is excellent at buffet and restaurants, awesome beach and pools, good bar selection, friendly staff

The hotel rooms are outdated and the buffet is ok, but the guest service and entertainment is amazing!

Cons: although the hotel is all inclusive, you’re not allowed to book dinner reservations every night. We stayed for 5 nights and were limited to two reservations for à la carte restaurant. You must book on the app 10 days in advance or your choices will be limited. The remaining days we had to do the buffet and having buffet breakfast lunch and dinner can get pretty tiring. The buffet is also just ok. We book for dinner Tequila restaurant and were super disappointed upon getting to the restaurant to realize it was buffet! If we only get 2 reservations last thing we wanted to do was end up at another buffet!

The rooms are definitely run down. They also didn’t have queen beds so our kids had to stay in the pull out sofa which for comfort is just ok.

Pros: entertainment was amazing! They really know how to keep the people engaged and having a good time. They do games at the pool and have a show every night! Everyone that works there is super friendly and will go above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing stay.

Our flight was delayed and they let us keep a room until 6:00 PM for an additional $30.

We had a great time until the last day when I had a hamburger from the Truck restaurant there. Food poisoning kept me up all night in serious discomfort.
They need to up their food quality.

We had great tours of cenotes in the area and of the tulum ruins. Amstar is the way to go.

The rooms were very well kept and serviced daily. The beach is nice with a bouyed area to keep currents from sending you out. Multiple pools with lots of access and plenty to do. My experience was great besides the food.

Great amenities (multiple pools, multiple restaurants, multiple bars, multiple separated areas for families, kids, and adults only, etc.) , very friendly and helpful staff, great variety of foods and beverages, good entertainment, and beautiful beaches. Convenient mini bank in the lobby, as well as a travel agency, pharmacy and gift shops. The suite was very nice and comfortable, although it had a musty smell that lasted throughout our entire stay. That was the only negative. Overall, fantastic experience e definitely recommend!

Room was in good condition, the staff was friendly.
But they did not have basic items like tooth paste, toothbrushes available.
Also, the food options were super repititive. Felt like we ate the same food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
