A Perfect, Serene Escape: A Review of Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya

If you are looking for a true sanctuary to disconnect, unwind, and completely reset, the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya is an absolute dream. From the moment we arrived, the entire resort exuded an incredible sense of calm and privacy. Even though it's a world-class property, it beautifully avoids that crowded, chaotic mega-resort feel. In fact, it often felt like we had the entire place to ourselves—a rare and luxurious experience that made our stay feel entirely exclusive.

The Highlights of Our Stay
World-Class Hospitality: The staff here are truly amazing. Every single team member we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and deeply committed to making our time excellent. Their warmth and hospitality elevated the entire trip.
The Spa (A Absolute Must!): Do not skip the spa services! The spa is an architectural and wellness masterpiece. Booking a treatment here is a non-negotiable part of the experience if you want to lean into full relaxation.
Delicious, Intentional Dining: The culinary experience was fantastic. Every meal felt thoughtful and high-quality, with food that genuinely tasted like it was prepared with love.
The Verdict: If your goal is to trade the noise of daily life for peaceful, private luxury, top-tier service, and incredible food, this resort delivers flawlessly. We left feeling entirely restored and cannot recommend it enough.

I’m going to start by saying that the staff serving us at the restaurants were always kind and the resort was gorgeous.

However, I was extremely frustrated with the availability of amenities. There was no notification of this beforehand, nor did we receive any discount. But every night, there were only 1 or 2 restaurants open. There was only one breakfast option and only lunch option was the one pool snack bar at the main pool. We paid extra money for the all inclusive package that claimed to have 10 restaurant options and that was NEVER the case. Overall, the resort was pretty aesthetic wise but I would never go there again nor would I recommend it to any friends or family.it was incredibly frustrating especially because I surprised my husband with this anniversary trip which turned out to be a flop.

Always easy to point out the negatives, but they are limited. Often out of pool towels, the ultra all inclusive has some odd exclusions. Just charge a bit more and include everything. Could use pool or beach attendants to avoid people reserving chairs. Cheapens the experience. Invest in big ice cubes for evening cocktails

That said, the staff are great. Resort is beautiful. Great location. Food and drink are great. A mix of fun and high end cocktails. Cater very well to allergies. Peaceful, elegant, clean and quiet. Definitely go to this resort as one of the best (if not the best) in Tulum or Mayan Riviera.

I was really excited about going to the Conard Tulum based on the wonderful reviews I read and the beautiful pictures. Unfortunately, the experience fell way below expectations.
1) In seeking a place off the beaten path in Tulum, I was hoping for a nice and serene place to relax, enjoy the water and the sun. What I got instead was loud EDM music playing all-day long, we could even hear the bass thumping from our hotel room well into the middle of the night. We just could NOT get any peace and quiet no matter where we went. It felt like we were at a music festival...

2) Food: pretty awful for the price you are paying. Kengai was the equivalent of asian food from a fast food place at the mall. Maritea, which they pride themselves on being the best place on the resort, was underwhelming. Ultramar was barely edible, and we tried a bunch of other bars by the pool and the food was sub-par. We couldn't wait to get to the airport and have a subway sandwich just to have something substantial and not completely disgusting.
3) Exploitative - I travel extensively and stay at various places all over the world and I have to say that I've never felt as exploited. We were told that we could not get any restaurant reservations to ANY hotel restaurant on the property for NYE. Imagine our surprise when we are dining that evening at Kengai and we are told that the staff can get us a dinner reservation at any restaurant on NYE if we agree to buy a bottle of champagne.... Wonderful resort with great staff and not overcrowded. The morning Buffett is delicious with varied choices of Mexican and American foods, if not so adventurous.
The staff is friendly and have that warm welcoming Mexican ‘bienvenido a nuestra casa’ attitude.
The beach is quiet and very private. The Conrad has great beautifully landscaped walking paths. If you’re lucky you might see the local wildlife.
Never a problem with the AC or WiFi. If you need tv viewing there’s plenty of options. I recommend the outdoor beach eating palapas, especially ‘El Chiringuito’.
I recommend hiring a tour guide/driver like Juan Santos to take you to the local archeological sights. You need nerves of steel if you want to drive against the local drivers. They have their own road rules.
My family and I went to celebrate our birthdays in late Jan-Feb.
I don’t want to stay in hot uncomfortable rooms or have mosquitos bothering me.
The rooms are spacious and lovely.
Don’t overpay for cabs. The concierge will help you arrange rides into Tulúm.
The property is sublime with nothing lacking.
Only minus for us is dinner portions are small and pricey.
I can’t wait till my next visit.

We had an amazing stay at the Conrad. Well designed modern hotel. White sands and crystal clear waters. Good selection of pools. Varied dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Both the Japanese and Mexican restaurants were superb. A 15% service charge is included on all food and drink although generally this is included in the stated price. Service was outstanding. We also did a bike tour round the resort, the spa and neighbouring Hilton resort which is worth doing to get a feel for the property. We had a fantastic time and would definitely consider coming back in future.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Conrad Tulum and was thoroughly impressed by the beauty of this hotel, despite a brief water shortage on January 7th. The quality of service stood out from the moment I arrived, with every staff member going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Mr. Francisco Corvin, the General Manager was amazing his hands-on approach was evident, as the entire team demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and professionalism, making sure that I felt well taken care of during the minor inconvenience.

The culinary offerings were a highlight of the stay. The quality of the food was outstanding, with a diverse menu that satisfied every palate. Each meal was a delightful experience, The Ukai-Japanese restaurant was amazing, showcasing fresh ingredients and creative presentation. The bar service was equally impressive, offering expertly crafted cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere that added to the overall charm of the hotel.

The design and decor at Hotel Conrad Tulum are simply stunning. The architecture and interior design reflect a perfect blend of modern luxury and natural beauty.

I want to take the opportunity to mention some employees that made my stay memorable: Chef Omar from the Japanese restaurant, Sergio and David from the bar, Hector and Jasiel from Valet and the entire team from the Spa. Thank you Conrad Tulum

Having its own little bay was really cool. That being said its a fairly large property and I believe it was sold out while we there. So as a result, the service times were really long at times. In addition, we tried to book a couple of the restaurants and were told they were full but when we walked by they were half empty. All in all this hotel is great for families but I would not recommend it for couples who are looking for 5-star service and impeccable facilities.

I'm in the construction business so maybe this last part of my review is not fair but they have a cool touch of having outdoor shutters that can be closed if you do not want to view the outside from your shower. Problem is the contractor who installed those things used the wrong fasteners as they are not anti-corrosion and as a result it is almost not possible to use those shutters since there is so much salt corrosion. Sad as this is such a new property. There were little things like that throughout the property. Not sure how the laws work in Mexico but in the US that is called a latent defect.

This resort is a boutique kind of, very walkable and very much suitable for couple with young and very young kids. The beach is amazing , sand, water and everything around it though it is a private and on a smaller side beach. The personal is attentive and helpful. The downside of this resort is the food. Now, the food options… the breakfast is a very good and plenty of options there, though the personal seems overwhelmed at times. Given this is not an all inclusive resorts, lunch options are bar kind of food, burgers, guacamole etc. Dinner is served in a few restaurants, a la carte, but the prices.. be prepared to pay 9$ for a bottle of water, 20$ and above for a glass of Prosecco or any wine. I would really prefer for them to have a buffet kind of option for dinner, either Italian or Mexican or both. Overall it was a pleasant vacation, we will definitely return to Tulum, might be this resort.

Great service and beautiful property!

Overall the Conrad was a great stay for our family. Pros: they have a great private beach and plenty of pool space. The service was generally fantastic and would probably influence our decision to return. Cons: One of the people in our party arrived with a broken foot and yet the room we were put in was very far despite the hotel being pretty empty. That was a bit frustrating. Beach- There were no rental options to snorkel or paddle (you have to purchase your own equipment at a store). Rental was advertised as an option so this was disappointing. Food: The cuisine options were pretty good for adults but the menus tended to be overly complex (adding as many ingredients as possible). Our kids are very adventurous eaters but even they often chose from the kids menu. Asian restaurant was our favorite.

Unfortunately, our experience at Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya was deeply disappointing on multiple fronts. The inconsistency in charges quoted by different staff members left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. Moreover, the general unhappiness of the staff was palpable throughout my stay. The discomfort extended to the accommodations themselves, with uncomfortably subpar beds that made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Despite claiming to be family-friendly, the lack of life vests for children added unnecessary stress and safety concerns to our stay.

To add to the frustration, dinner reservations were missed every single night, to the point where it became comical. Additionally, the sensors at every single bathroom didn't work, forcing us to use bottled water to wash our hands, which was both inconvenient and unsanitary.

Furthermore, the room was very noisy, with wind blowers in the morning and older children in nearby rooms causing disturbances at night. Had we not brought our toddlers’ white noise machine, it would have been impossible to sleep past these disruptions.

Overall, this experience was a complete letdown and a missed opportunity for Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya to provide quality service. I certainly will not be repeating this experience, nor would I wish it upon anyone else.

The property was pristine. But my first night there I had an allergic reaction. My face was swollen due to my room not being deep cleaned. It was to the point where the hotel manager had to call the doctor on call and I was given a perscription for an antihistamine to contain my face swelling. To make things worse. We ate at one of the outdoor resturants and at the bottom of my ketchup there was a piece of hair. The resturant manager had to be called to assist.
Other, than that the staff was friendly and the hotel was beautiful. We were unable to use the pool outside our room as it had a small frog in it, my kids had a pet the whole time there.
