Loved the setup and constant attentive service that was always present but not intrusive. Many thanks to Antony and Alon Their knowledge of Akumal and great instruction made kayaking fun! Stretching (yoga) in the morning with Malina was awesome! The shows were good. The lady who played the violin outside Rendezvous was amazing!!! The massage by Ms. Valerie was amazing! She was very gentle always asking if I was alright, taking all the tension out of my body. Props to her! Also enjoyed the activities at the beach and the main pool. The rooms were wonderful. All of the restaurants were great but we really enjoyed Oceana and Portofino The chef is superb

Had an amazing experience! Especially the staff were so helpful! Jorge- the manager- made our experience top notch! He was such a great man! Food was delicious! Could not use the beach due to algae season but pools were great! Spa was incredible- great service. The only thing we did not like is the their sales manager’s attitude! I think his name was Scott. He was the responsible person of the membership experience. Our concierge Monica was amazing! Always smiling and very helpful! Dont forget to bring your emergency medications (first aid stuff) or toiletries- because pharmacy is very very expensive!
I would probably try another Secret hotel and compare. Overall it was a great memory!

We travel often to Mexico and I will say this was one of our favorite resorts. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is top notch and the location is perfect. We snorkeled everyday right out front of the hotel and saw so much wildlife. We watched a mother sea turtle lay her eggs on the beach at night and we snorkeled with so many sea turtles. José Mejía the Concierge in Building 4 went above and beyond for us. My bathing suit top blew away from laying out on our patio drying and he went and talked to everyone to find it. The only hiccup was the sargassum sea weed that is floating in during this time on the beach but the staff worked around the clock to get it cleaned up. We will absolutely be back!

An excellent experience. This resort goes above and beyond expectations of service, location, and amenities with excellent dining options including, Ala cart, amazing buffets, alfresco and room service. The entertainment was top notch. The pools, water sports and all inclusive activities were varied and plentiful. The grounds were beautifully landscaped gardens with lots of jungle walking paths and secluded hideouts. We loved it.

My wife and I were celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary. The resort is perfectly situated for a romantic getaway. At checkin, we were upgraded to the preferred club without asking.

The property was clean and well maintained.

Service and food were outstanding!! All of the staff were friendly and engaging.

The beach was full of sargassum seaweed; however, this is beyond the control any resort.

Was an excellent trip and we’ve already talked about returning.

Everything from check-in to check-out was excellent. We could not have asked for a better experience. Francisco at check-in was great, as was Juan at check-out. Efrain with VIP services was helpful and made our stay better. Alexandria was our concierge and she made sure we had everything we needed, from room maintenance to making reservations for dinner at the Japanese hibachi experience. Luisa from the Spa made reservations for us for some relaxing massages, and Carmen and Luz were excellent at those massages. Food was 10/10. Everything we got to eat, and the restaurants we got to try were delicious. The entire staff was so pleasant and made sure our stay was going well. I could not speak more highly of the entire staff and time we were there.

Property has lush green grounds, lots of trees and could be difficult to find your way around. The beach was not good, lots a of saggaman so it made it dificult to go in water.
Staff was very friendly. Restaurants choices we good as well. Not the best ocean view from the room balcony. Septic/Sewer smell was very strong on the property grounds.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Service, Amazing Food, and a Beautiful Resort

Our stay at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya was absolutely wonderful. The resort is beautiful, well maintained, and offers a relaxing atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

What truly made our vacation special was the incredible staff. A special thank you to Belem from housekeeping for keeping our room immaculate and making us feel at home throughout our stay. Mario at the bar provided outstanding service and always greeted us with a smile. Marcos, Sebastian, and all of the employees we encountered were friendly, professional, and genuinely focused on making our vacation memorable.

The food and beverage experience exceeded our expectations. Seaside Grill was one of our favorite restaurants, offering delicious meals in a beautiful setting. Market Café provided a great variety of fresh options every day, and the in-room breakfast service was always prompt, convenient, and delicious.

We also enjoyed the spa, which was relaxing, peaceful, and professionally operated. Every detail of our stay reflected the resort's commitment to excellent service and guest satisfaction.

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with outstanding hospitality, great food, and beautiful surroundings, Secrets Akumal is an excellent choice. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning.

I went for 6 days and had an amazing experience! The staff is wonderful!!! I really enjoyed the activities at the activities pool. I stayed in a first level room with the swim up pool, which was wonderful. I was in a preferred room which included room service and had a concierge on site. The resort itself is beautiful, about 1.5 hours away from Cancun airport. I personally did not love the food for dinner at the restaurants, which I kind of expected from an all-inclusive. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many options. They do have daily events at the resort which included food options, such as burgers, quesadillas, etc. made fresh on the grill outside, those options were great. Overall, I would recommend this resort, very beautiful with wonderful staff.

Love Secrets Akumal, have been three years in a row and the resort is incredible - from the rooms, to the employees, to the beach and water. Restaurant options are numerous and food is comparable to other high-end resorts. The people there are wonderful, and the option of having the quiet pool is what helped sell us the first time we picked Akumal and one of the things that keep us coming back.

There’s a reason why my husband and I have travelled to this resort three times! Secrets Akumal checks off all of our boxes in terms of service, location, food, and amenities.

The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive, and our room was always spotless with turn down service at night!

Snorkelling is also big on our list and we have seen everything from sting rays, turtles, barracudas and many different kinds of reef fish.

The resort grounds are lush and beautiful with many lovely flowers and palms. Each path has something different to look forward to!

We’d like to give a huge shout- out to Baltazar at the Oceana restaurant for his attentiveness, and for making our last dinner on the resort a memorable one! He truly went above and beyond.

If you travel to Secrets Akumal, you will dream about going back!

The entire experience at the resort was absolutely incredible. The property itself is breathtakingly beautiful, meticulously maintained, and truly feels like paradise from the moment you arrive.

One of the highlights of our stay was the snorkeling. It was exceptional—we were able to see sea turtles, tropical fish, and so much beautiful marine life right off the beach, which made the experience unforgettable.

What truly makes this resort stand out, though, is the staff. Every single team member went above and beyond to make our stay special. From housekeeping and turndown service to the concierge team and Preferred Club servers, everyone was warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. You can truly feel how much pride they take in creating an amazing guest experience.

The entertainment, atmosphere, service, and natural beauty of the resort all came together to create one of the most memorable vacations we’ve ever had, and we cannot wait to return.

The entire staff at the resort are amazing. Our concierge Gina was very helpful with recommendations for tours off the property, and things to do on the property. Carlos and Dieder from the entertainment team were full of energy and so genuine in their desire to make sure we were engaged and having fun. We enjoyed volleyball, live music, bike ride into Akumal and other shows put on by the entertainment team. There was always something to do if you wanted to be interactive. Jose was our pool concierge and always made sure we had clean towels and sun or shade when we wanted it. The beach was well maintained and clean. We were a little disappointed with the dinners- the dining experience and staff were great but the food wasn't super flavorful. On the other hand, we enjoyed our breakfast and lunches tremendously. The property is very well maintained and clean. They are making more efforts to be environmentally friendly, which we appreciate.

What we liked:
*The pool and beach areas had great, attentive service.
*Each day, there is a different grill option on the beach which is some of the best food we had the resort.
*The bike tour was surprisingly good. It's a 90 minute tour on flat ground with a few different stops in the surrounding area.
*The kayak tour and paddle board tours were okay. If you like water sports, this is likely not the resort for you. There are restrictions on when you can use those amenities & booking is competitive.

What we disliked:
*The check-in process was frustrating. We arrived 30 minutes before 3:00 pm. Waiting would have been no problem, but we were bombarded by staff trying to sell us invitations to timeshare events, spa services, etc. Not one staff member asked, \"What would you like to do this week?\" If they had, we likely would have gotten answers to questions we had later on.
*We were locked out of our room twice during the stay. The first time was a night because the room door did not want to communicate with the app they provide for access. It took several technicians and security to resolve the issue. The second time was at check out. Check out is at 12:00 pm, but they don't tell you that your app will deactivate at 11:30 am. We planned to stop in our room once more right before check out to freshen up and could not get into our room. We had to find someone to let us in and almost missed our airport pickup.
*Food ranged from okay to very good. Nothing was amazing.

The resort was great, room was fantastic. Caution about the $200 resort credit. The Expedia listing is deceiving. There are limitations such as $10 off a full price wine bottle, $40 off regular priced spa service. Great buffet at the Market Cafe. Nice sit down places near the pool with ocean views (Seaside Grill and Oceana). Fine dining choices in the evening include Himitsu (Japanese), Bordeaux (French)(long wait at times), Portofino (Italian) and El Patio (Mexican). All of the restaurants were fantastic & no resy needed. (Hibachi at Himitsu needs a resy due to limited seating). There are plenty of events during the day that are free. We decided to just hang out at the pool most of the time. The concierges are at every building, and communicate through WhatsApp if you need anything. The staff does go out of their way to make sure that you are taken care of. The reason I did not rate it 5 is because I did not sleep well at night due 2 the bed & pillows. It was just not comfortable for me. I still prefer the beds and pillows at a JW Marriott. The resort grounds are immaculate! Pools are sparkling clean. Beaches are pristine, smooth white sand that feels like flour on your feet. They have exercise classes, free paddle boarding & kayaking outings and bike ride through the local town. If U take the Wyndham \"timeshare\" pres, it's about 2hours for $200 credit towards your hotel bill. The survey lady was rude. Just keep saying No until they give you all the bells/whistles.

Property is excellent. Snorkeling directly from the beach in both paid access (turtle viewing) and free areas. Service was fantastic at all times. Food was very good overall, with Italian and the Steakhouse as standout options. Jungle areas in center of the resort make navigation around the resort a memorable experience, easy to get lost and explore new places! It’s sort of a running joke amongst guests that everyone seems to be lost while navigating the resort.

Main lobby bar is the only letdown at this property. Seating at the bar top was limited to four stools, however several other seating options were available in the area. Due to bar being open to outside and lack of fans or A/C in the bar it was very hot most nights. Bar staff had resorted to using floor drying fans to cool themselves and one of the fans being used was extremely noisy taking away from the high end feel of the rest of this resort. We instead chose to spend or evenings at the outdoor sports bar were ceiling fans and a cross breeze kept everyone cool while enjoying their after hours cocktails.

Special call out to Brandom from the entertainment group and Alan from the bar team both were fantastic and made the trip memorable

Some of the cons are not a fault of theirs:

Mosquitos were very bad- I mean the worst i’ve ever experienced. They were trying to mitigate them, and had bug spray at the restaurants, but we still bought and went through a whole bottle.
Because of the mosquitos it was hard to enjoy the swim up room. Only used it once since the mosquitos were biting my face, scalp, etc.

Air conditioning did not work well at night in our first room, we thought it could be from the brief power outages, but it got to 75 degrees at times yet stayed cold during the day. A day or so after mentioning it to the concerige they moved us and we did not have the problem in the new room.

Food was great and fresh everywhere we went. If I was scoring food and friendliness of staff alone it would be 5 stars. I have food allergies and Santiago at the buffet went above and beyond to get me a pastry I had been wanting. They called us by name and always checked on us. The buffet food was the best I have had, and the restaurants were top notch.

Upselling was draining. People were telling us they tried to sell them on packages, which is understandable. But it was a 1-3 hour sales pitch for a discounted spa massage. I also felt swarmed as we left when a sales woman tried to convince us to book our next stay. I’ve stayed at other resorts where they were not as bothersome about it.

Parking worked out. We had a rental car but the trees dripped sap or something. So it was dirty.

Pefect one week stay. The best Secrets we have been to. Will return. I was a little worried about bugs, but we didn't see hardly any. There was seaweed a few days, but they cleaned it well out the water, so we could still enjoy the beach.

The property is very lush and well maintained. Room was spotless, fridge stocked with your preference. Nightly turn down service with fresh towels. Lots of umbrellas available for when it rained. Building concierge was great, always checking on you. Lots of entertainment during the day and evenings.
Great selection of restaurants and all were excellent. The main buffet was open for breakfast and lunch and the selection was overwhelming.
Waiters and staff are very attentive and always checking that you are satisfied and have what you need. They go above and beyond. Every area was serviced well. Always wanting to know how they could help you.
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay.

All the amenities were great! Spa, pool.. our room was an ocean view however the tall trees covered most of the view. However, it was still beautiful!

The spa was absolutely incredible.
The grounds of this hotel is gorgeous!
However, the staff at the pool needs to be more clear into how many people are allowed to rent the day beds beforehand. There is evidently a difference in how they treat certain guests, versus others. There is no distinction between the regular guests and the preferred ones.

We loved everything. We only had one meal that wasn't fabulous, but we'll definitely return and recommend this resort. Staff goes above and beyond to create the best experiences.

My wife and I visited Secret Akumal Resort for the first time, and we are incredibly happy that we chose this beautiful place for our vacation.

We were absolutely delighted with everything! The service was exceptional – the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always went the extra mile to make our stay memorable.

In particular, we would like to highlight our waiter, Isus. His service was impeccable; he is a very knowledgeable professional, attentive to detail, and genuinely caring. His kindness and attention greatly contributed to making our dinners special and most enjoyable.

The beach was simply paradise: pristine, with soft white sand and unbelievably clear turquoise water. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The food exceeded all our expectations. The variety and quality at all the restaurants were outstanding, and every meal was a delightful experience.

All in all, our vacation was a tremendous success, and we created wonderful memories that we will cherish for a long time. We truly fell in love with Secret Akumal and sincerely hope to return one day.

We celebrated our anniversary and my 40th birthday at Secrets Akumal in June, and it was absolutely amazing. The resort itself is stunning, but what truly set it apart was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Especially our concierge! From the little details to the overall service, we felt so well taken care of. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, celebration, and luxury. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!
