It was a beautiful resort. I loved the beach area and all the neat animals that are on the property. The staff was really nice and helpful. The food at the buffet was so fresh and plentiful. The restaurants had great food and the drinks were very good. I wish I could've stayed longer!

We really enjoyed our six-night stay at Catalonia Resort. We went with the \"Privileged\" option which gave us access to certain amenities and extra discounts on-site.

Staff was extremely friendly and very attentive to all our needs and requests.

The property was very clean, and well maintained. It was great to see all the animals and the great pool area.

The massive downfall is the food and drinks. The food options were very limited and while there are many resturants on site, after trying all of them multiple times, we had no meals that were even decent. We ended up actually eating off property the last 2 nights just to get a decent meal.

The drinks were \"okay\" at best. Most were very watered down and not very strong at all. All frozen drinks were never blended well and had huge pieces of ice and sometimes full ice cubes left un-blended. I am not a big drinker, at all, and even i was not impressed with the drinks.

Last was the amenities. They really offer no extra activities such as kayaks, or longboards, and the gym was very small and did not have much equipment compared to other resorts in the area. The spa was great, but overpriced.

With all that said, we did enjoy our stay, but was not impressed with the entangibles that the resort had to offer.

Everythignnwas great! Be aware that the beach thugh is swimable and water was warm on the last couple of days there was quite of bot of seaweed. Though the staff was trying really hard to keep cleaning it up. Food was good. One thing I was diappointed was pizza and coffee. I am not sure how pizza;s were never done. They were baked on top and pretty raw at the bottom. Thank God for the capucinno and expresso at the bar that made up for the coffee. Overall very happy with this respor definitely will go back.

Don’t Let the Name or ‘All-Inclusive’ Label Fool You
The room was nice and the setting is beautiful. That’s where my praise ends. This resort is NOT in Tulum. Tulum is nearly an hour south by taxi. The name is misleading from the jump. You are isolated.

The food was genuinely bad. Shockingly bad. We’re in Mexico — one of the world’s great food cultures — and the Mexican food here was the worst of the trip. Bland and uninspired. The one restaurant worth eating at required an extra fee on top of all-inclusive pricing. That’s not a perk, that’s a bait and switch. Service was friendly only if you tipped continuously — exhausting for an all-inclusive.
Most critically: an Apple Watch Ultra 2 was stolen from our room during my birthday celebration, which the resort was aware of. When I reported it, they sent four staff members in white gloves to search my room — treating me like a suspect rather than a victim. I complied fully. Once they had all the information they needed, they laughed in my face.
They filed an internal report to management. Not the police. When I asked why, I was told calling police was my choice. The watch had already been wiped before we noticed it was gone. Someone knew exactly when we’d be occupied and used that window.
To be searched, humiliated, and then laughed at while celebrating a birthday is something no guest should ever experience.
Book elsewhere. And if you stay, bring your own locks because they have a master code to access the safe.

We had a wonderful stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum. The hotel itself was very clean, and one of our absolute favorite parts was the walk from the main area to the pool and beach—it’s a beautiful jungle path that really makes the experience feel unique and peaceful. Along the way, we saw lots of coatis, which were so fun and added to the whole nature vibe.

The restaurants were very good overall, and we upgraded to the Privilege package, which was definitely worth it—especially for access to the Bloved restaurant, which we loved.

The beach was absolutely beautiful. We spent so much time just sitting, relaxing, and enjoying the view. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight—very expansive with tons of options, so there was always something for everyone.

The only downside for us was the amount of smoking throughout the resort. Unfortunately, we often couldn’t leave our balcony door open because of the cigarette smell, and it was noticeable in many areas. It’s a bit of a drawback, especially in such a stunning natural setting.

Overall, a great stay with beautiful surroundings, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere—with just that one area for improvement.

We had such a great time visiting Catalonia Royal Tulum. The beach was beautiful, even with the sargassum in the mornings that the resort crew worked hard to clean up day in and day out. The service stood out, with everyone being happy to help and very welcoming — Quetzabel at the buffet and Jonny at the pool bar were always brightening our day.

The food was good as well. We found ourselves getting the best meals at the buffet more often than not, but we were able to try every restaurant and were satisfied with all of our meals. None in particular blew us away, aside from maybe Steakville. We recommend the Rauxa show, as it was definitely a sight to see.

The rooms were in very good condition, no complaints here at all!! Best part about them perhaps is they are stowed away deep in the jungle and about a 10 minute walk from the beach, including 2-3 coati sightings each time we walked to and from the beach to our rooms. Quite a unique experience.

The shows at night by the pool were entertaining as well. I’d say this is far from a party resort, as often times the entertainment would die down past 11 PM, but it fit the bill for what we were looking for.

Overall, we had a great stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum and recommend it for whoever may be reading this.

This was our 5th consecutive year visiting this resort. The staff here is amazing and really makes the difference for us when choosing our annual vacation destination. We have so many to thank. Juana and team for maintaining our room perfectly, Daniel and team for their gracious assistance in the pool and beach areas, Yolasef and Esperenza for the amazing spa experiences, Daniela and Joseph from Guest Services for their excellent support and daily kind wishes, the fabulous restaurant chefs and front end staff Quetzabel, Angeles, Sandy, Ana, Juan, Carmen, Carlos and their teams for their usual above and beyond service, Ezequiel and the Front Desk team for their amazing support and professional care, the Porters, Servers and incredible Bartenders who blessed us with perfect Margaritas every time, Gracias to all. This was our 7th stay at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. We love this property. We even saw the monkey on our way to breakfast! Staff was excellent as always. Some special shout outs go to Angeles at the Palapa who greeted us by NAME every morning and lunch --so sweet! And Miguel at lunch and the Steakville--- so nice and friendly and always bringing us more cervasa! David was a riot at the Adelita with recommendations on the menu and excellent service! And last but not least we loved Betzabe at the BeLoved by the beach---so sweet and attentive. We felt so special all week. The only thing we were surprised by was the fact that this was our 7th time there was not recognized. Expedia gave us a room upgrade which was great but the staff didnt acknowledge our 7th stay. No big deal but it would have been nice. Great weather and staff and property! we will be back!

Our room was a swamp. The AC blew but it never removed the moisture from the air. Our clothes were damp, the bed sheets were damp. Everything was damp. Water dripped off the face of the drinks refrigerator. The sliding door was fogged in the morning. My phone wouldn't charge because of the humidity in the room. (Charge port detected moisture) We had to buy a wireless charger. So no rest in the room, but the garden view was quite pleasant!

We had amazing weather the full time we were there, the amenities kept us cool. The AC in our room wasn’t cold, but there was a fan, so that helped circulate the air. We burned pretty bad so had some uncomfortable nights but was able to purchase additional sunscreen and after sun care at decent price.
The buffet was the best — great options and variety, dinner less so, unfortunately. The steakhouse was a complete miss. Other dinner options (Italian, Asian and international) were just okay. We avoided the Mexican restaurant, as we saw reviews that it was very bad. Wish they leaned into authentic Mexican more. Would have preferred the buffet for dinner, but understand food waste/need for more structured service.
All of the staff were amazing; welcoming, quick and efficient. Mixed drinks were delicious, although all very high in sugar. Felt very safe on premises. Would return!

This was my 3rd visit to this resort. We were met with the same amazing customer service as always and it continued throughout our stay.
We noticed a few differences from previous years, and some aspects were pleasantly the same.
Food: almost all really good food, as usual. The Steakville restaurant is one to avoid. A good cut of beef has proven to be hard to find at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. The other restaurants were really good and had lots of variety. It is definitely best to make your reservations as quickly as you can upon arrival for the best dinner choices.
Room: The room was quite dated but comfortable. We were told upon arrival that we were being given an upgrade (both rooms that we booked), but they were clearly the rooms we paid for so I'm not sure why that was even mentioned.
Grounds: The building and grounds are kept so so clean; this property is really an amazing little gem in the jungle surrounded by lush greenery and lots of different wildlife.
Overall we loved it. Still hate fighting for a beach/pool chair but that is a problem everywhere it seems. Resorts need to develop a fair system for that. We saw several towels on chairs all day and no people on them.
Shoutout to the two wonderful ladies that were working in the buffet restaurant by the pool. Made us feel so special every time we arrived!

The resort was very nice. Food was actually quite good for an all inclusive resort AND they were accommodating with my food allergies, I had no issues, which is a big deal to me.

Pros: Clean rooms, good food, allergy friendly, friendly staff, nice pool, beautiful beach, good shows, good air conditioning in the room, awesome shower, not a bad bed/pillow.

I say con very lightly as I don't feel it's necessarily a negative just some thing to be aware of if it's your first time. This is a much more \"relaxing\" resort so if you are looking for something a bit more up beat you may want to look somewhere else. What I mean by that is it was a bit of an older crowd (primarily) with not much happening mid day. Mid day at the pool there is not even background music playing for something to listen to which is a little bit of a vibe kill in my opinion. I would have liked to have something in the background to listen to while relaxing. It was almost awkward being so silent.

We also had the first room at the entrance of our building which was right next to the staff entrance, which got a bit noisy early in the morning when they were beginning their day. It happens, it just wasn't the most ideal.

2 suggestions I would make to the resort itself are
1. Some fans in the gym would go a long way
2. Some hooks in the room/bathroom. There are no drawers for clothes and only 1 hook in the bathroom so there's nowhere to hang towels etc.

We had such a wonderful stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum. What truly makes this resort special is the staff — every single person we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it made all the difference in our experience.

One of our favorite parts was the jungle pathway that winds through the property. Walking to breakfast or the beach each day felt like a little adventure — spotting coatis, iguanas, and other wildlife along the way was such a unique and magical touch. It really sets this resort apart from others.

The beach is absolutely gorgeous — soft white sand, beautiful turquoise water, and plenty of space to relax. It’s exactly what you picture when you think of a Caribbean escape.

The facilities were consistently clean and very comfortable. Our room was well-maintained, the common areas were spotless, and everything felt well cared for.

If you’re looking for a relaxed adults-only getaway with incredible staff, a stunning beach, and a beautiful natural setting, this is a fantastic choice. We would absolutely return.

The staff was amazing. The rooms are good. I wish they had a dinner buffet. The hot tub by the pool was warm at best. We asked to have it turned up but temperature only increased slightly. The pool has no means of heating and the outside temperature was lower than average, so the pool was cool. Almost no one used the pool due to the temperature of the water.

We just wrapped up a 12-day stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum, and once again it reminded us why we keep coming back. This was our 17th visit, and we're anxiously looking forward to the 18th. What truly sets this resort apart, though, is the people. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel special, loved, and genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The beach is the BEST in Mexico, the food was so good we both gained 5 pounds! A big shoutout to some of the amazing people that are the heart and soul of this resort:

This resort was beautiful. We got the Priviledged upgrade which was definitely worth it just for the BLoved restaurant. The upselling pressure by the white shirt concierge group was relentless and very frustrating. We already paid a ton of money. Leave it alone already. Food overall was good to excellent. Beach and pool were great. Very clean. It would be great if at an all inclusive if adding a tip option to the overall bill was available. Carrying tip money in your bathing suit is annoying. Most staff were lovely and service was great.

So this is not an all inclusive property as they advertise when we got there there was nothing to eat as they required reservations for their restaurants that were already booked. so we had to settle for room service and when we got our food, it was pork quality and cold. They only serve buffet style on Saturdays and breakfast is up to two Ish and then after that, you’re pretty much on your own beauty and reserve and they already pre-booked restaurant. So my question to them was what am I supposed to eat? Front desk clerk was rude at the end. We ended up checking out on our second day of our vacation because we did not want to waste our time in a such poor Quality hotel that claimed to be an all-inclusive and it’s not. The only thing that was beautiful was the beach.

The property was very well-maintained and the staff was very friendly and attentive. There were plenty of dining options and I felt the food was above average. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment as well. Lastly, the beach was probably the nicest of all the Caribbean properties I’ve visited.
