2 stars because staff was Great but the room itself was disgusting!!! The room looked like it has never been cleaned. The walls, the baseboards, the floors, the showers were filthy, dirty and dust everywhere. The first was so bad we asked to leave and be refunded. They did move us to another room which was slightly better, but still terrible, the bed was sunken in in the middle. They also tried to compensate with offering breakfast but from the looks of the room I was not willing to eat from they’re kitchen Just a horrible experience.

Room doesn’t match the picture, also many rooms do not have elevator access, we had to walk up 5 levels to get to our room everyday we stayed there. The rooms are so tiny, the pictures are very misleading. The front desk is very nice but sadly do not accommodate for room changes if you require.

Good location, poor upkeep

Check in was quick and the guy was very friendly and welcoming. The room was a great size and I appreciated the air con!

Decor was a bit worn down, little things really but things like a lightbulb in the bathroom weren't working. Room wasn't that clean in places (hairs in shower and bedding).

Overall it was what I needed for the night, comfortable bed not far from Gare du Nord.

This hotel is in a great location and I think they’re trying to do some minor upgrades. The lobby is very nice, the room was ok, it would have been nice to control the heat/ coolness in our room though. The temp was down as low as it could go and it was still too warm. However it was clean and comfortable, some more upgrades are needed besides paint to really spruce it up but it was decent for a couple nights

Sitting sideways on the toilet

We got a room on the third floor with no elevator, so it was a long walk up. There are two buildings, one with an elevator and one without, so better to request the building with the elevator if you have problems walking. The main complaint is that the toilet was so close to the wall, that it was impossible to sit straight on the toilet - we had to sit on a 45-degree angle. If you're used to sitting sideways on the toilet, then it's no problem, otherwise it was very uncomfortable. There wasn't enough space even for a child to sit properly. Otherwise, the location was good, near both Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est.

An easy walk from Gare du Nord or Gare de L’Est, with the metro and also bus routes.
I chose the hotel for the proximity to Marché couvert Saint-Quentin and the branch of Bouillon Chartier, both minutes away on foot.
Other foodie adventures included the traditional French food at P'tite Bougnate, only metres from the front door of the hotel.
The staff were friendly, the WiFi was strong and the room comfy. I didn’t have breakfast as I ate out but it looked like typical fare.
Luckily I didn’t have any issues with my lungs or my heart as I was on the 4th floor, up very steep steps. I was also glad I didn’t have more than a small bag to carry as there isn’t a lift.
I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this hotel again next time I’m in Paris. For the money, it’s very good value.

Perfect hotel for short break in Paris

We stayed for 2 nights and was ideal. Great location - a short walk from the Gare du Nord and not too far from the Seine. Rooms are basic but good and bathroom was very clean.

Only hiccup we had was being told checkout was at 12 at the desk but someone came to our room at 10 asking us to leave. Other than that a great stay. Would recommend.

We stayed during the 1st week of the Olympics so it was expensive and therefore not good value for money but it was the cheapest we could find.

This is good three star hotel and served its purpose for our trip. Breakfast was included and it was adequate if not spectacular. We had a twin room which was a decent size. Beds were comfortable and we had options for pillows. It was very hot during our stay but the air conditioning works well and isn’t too noisy. The bathroom had been refurbished and was in good condition although there was a bit of a smell. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel only has one small lift which we thought would be a problem but we never had a problem accessing it. I guess it could be an issue at busy times.

Perfect location, nice staff, nice room. The bed and pillows were comfortable, there is a hairdryer and kettle. Breakfast was a little basic and very busy (Paris olympics) so often had to wait for refills of food/to get to the items. The room was nice and spacious but no fridge and light in the corridor shone underneath the door all night with no way to turn it off. Would stay here again, it’s lovely for central Paris 3* hotel and perfect for a city break- you know what you’re getting.

Room: Room amenities were sufficient. The AC however needs deep cleaning. The Tub was too high for elder folks to hop into and is also slippery that we had to wet our towels to step on.

Accessibility of the place to all transportation is excellent. There are a lot of nearby restaurants as well.

Our stay in Hotel Kabanel was decent overall but unfortunately the ceiling / walls are incredibly thin, and during our stay there appeared to be a party 2 floors up, which made sleep impossible.

The night reception staff were very apologetic and did speak with them to keep it down, but we'd already been disturbed at 3am and they didn't quieten down quickly.

There are both pros and cons for the hotel, but unfortunately for us the main con (not being able to sleep for 2 nights) outweighed the pros.

Pros:
- Really friendly staff
- Clean and safe room
- The main hotel door had to be unlocked by the receptionist so it felt incredibly safe
- Comfy bed
- Free coffee in reception (nice relaxing reception area)

Cons:
- Very thin walls / ceiling (even when the party had quietened down, we could still hear footsteps moving around the room. It genuinely sounded like they were rearranging the furniture the whole time)
- The coffee in the room wasn't refilled upon maid service
- Plug points closest to our bed were right above our head (the wire would get caught on the pillows)
- Plug points above our head would also turn off when the lights would turn off, so we had to use other plug points in the room

Overall it was good value for money and really friendly staff, but just be aware you may not sleep very well.

I hope this review and picture are helpful. If you are going to paris with accessibility needs, you are in the wrong place so pause, re-think if you are still on time or try to make the most of it with this reservation. The hotel (the area where we stayed you can see is newly refurbished) but that didn't stop from not being able to bring a stroller to the room with the lift. The lift is so small that even if we are not \"big size people\" me and my wife and the stroller don't fit all together in the lift. You ask for a room step free and the hotel answer is that every room needs steps no matter where. We decided to give it a go and unfortunately never again. We were welcomed with one key room saying \"they ran out of electronic keys\", it seemed a bit odd but it happens. We then arrived to the room with few steps and stroller and the radiator in the room was not working, heating just at the bottom. We didn't really need it but was very handy to dry baby clothes. We let reception know and their answer was \"I need to ask the manager\" who will be there in 2 days, guess what? we stayed only 3 days and no one ever looked at it. We then looked at the safety deposit in the room and was clearly locked. When asked to open once again the answer was we need the famous manager, once again no one ever showed up in 3 days. They did offer an alternative solution (I don't call that but here the details) they offered a security box on the ground floor. Thanks but no thanks

This hotel is very bad. potentially unsafe.

Some rooms are at a separate building across a court yard at the back. That building was covered in scaffolding that blocked view from the room windows. The stairs are very old, slanting with rough filling patch work done at corners where steps are clearly coming apart. It felt a bit dizzy walking up the stairs as they were so slanted. This hotel looks like an old rough hostel. The rooms have some pink paint on one of the walls to make the room look nice on booking sites like Expedia. But it Is not what they call it ’Happy Culture’ hotel. There was no lift if you hame heavy baggage. And some rooms are on 2nd and 3rd floor with long stairs to climb. The walls in the room were thin so you could hear everything - I heard a couple talking and playing music whole night till 4am. Train taking off at the near station makes the room vibrate. The door to the room had gap around big enough to see corridor security light shining through whole night by the bed. And you could hear people far too well walking down the corridor banging doors in the middle of the night. Breakfast was basic, coffee and tea from an automatic machine. No extra options to order. This Is not just a bad hotel. But potentially unsafe.

Not happy about this booking.

There was a renovation going on during our stay which may have caused the AC not to work. It was very hot and the staff tried their best to accommodate, but unfortunately this seemed to be beyond their control.
There is only 1 power socket in the room.
There is no bar/lounge as hotels.com has advertised.
I have been mostly disappointed that after specifically choosing the option to pay at the property on arrival, during booking, that hotels.com decided to share one of my cards on file with Kabanel and they decided to 'authorize' that card for payment. When I called the hotel before arrival, the lady on the phone seemed irritated that I couldn't understand that this was ONLY an authorization and just kept saying 'ok, ok'
This 'authorization' is money that you cannot access and I have checked out 11days ago and this authorization is still pending and I haven't been able to have access to this money.

My family and I arrived to the hotel after midnight.

We arrived to the hotel & the night staff was wonderful. We were notified that our room was in the back & there are no elevators. The staff member was wonderful and carried all 3 50lbs (23kg) luggage up the stairs. However, it would’ve been difficult for my family to go up & down the stairs.

Due to the stairs, we asked staff if we can switch rooms but there was no more space & we would’ve had to wait for the manager at 9am.

We did not feel comfortable staying in the hotel. It was being remodeled with scaffolding & stair repairs. We opened around window and saw the scaffolding. We couldn’t even keep the window open bc of the remodeling being done outside the window. There was no lock for the entrance to the 2nd building, it looked broken. A bed in the room was broken & the AC was not working. There was mold in the shower & dust around the room.

We immediately rebooked another hotel & left the following hours. Expedia was no help & the hotel did not grant us a refund for the experience we had.

I’ve noticed the manager respond to people & I would like to say, coming from a midnight flight, I would hope to arrive to a room that’s ready to go with no broken amenities. That was not the case. We were only in Paris for 3 days & had excursions scheduled. We did not have time to meet nor should these issues have been present when we arrived.

The staff at the hotel was friendly and welcoming. They all spoke English, which was helpful. The hotel was simple but clean. If you are American, think Motel 6 or La Quinta Inn level. The hotel and surrounding area seemed safe. There is no refrigerator or microwave but they had an elevator and the air conditioner worked well. The WiFi was terrible!

We stayed for three nights and we suspected the bedding was not clean properly, we have skin irritations (itching). It was not bed bug but maybe more like dust mites. Decor and furniture was ok for 3 stars hotel, but the main issue was the bathroom tub was so slippery, and set so high with no handle to hold to climb up or down. The glass division between shower/tub and sink was not secured and keep swinging into tub while we showering, so it was double safety issue. Bathroom tile was cracking on the bathroom and door way paint was peeling off. Hallway carpet was really dingy. The only thing good was the AC. It runs very cold but you have to ask reception to turn it on since the control didn’t work. The complimentary water and coffee machine on ground floor with lounge next to reception were nice. The neighborhood was ok, very close to Gare d’Est station which is why we picked this hotel. Nearby patisserie Artisan Boulanger was top notch for butter croissant and baguette.

I would not stay here again. For the price I was disappointed. The hotel is in bad need of a complete renovation. The bathroom tile needs to be re-groutted as there were places where it was molded. Also the bottom of the shower door had mold, and the bathroom door was so warped that it wouldn’t close well. The toilet had a strong sewer stench coming from it. All the furnishings were very dated. Even though it was somewhat clean. The hot water went out from the night until the morning of our checkout and I had to take a cold shower as I had to get up early to wash clothes. I asked for a later checkout so my family wouldn’t have to take cold showers as well, but was only given until 1pm and told we could have free breakfast. The breakfast offering was less than desirable.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and that may be the only saving grace. Except for not giving us a later checkout and telling us we needed to “leave the room now” when 1pm came and we still were not ready, I would say they were very kind. There was a nice note welcoming me when I checked in along with macarons. They did allow us to check in early, even though I didn’t ask to check in early and did not expect to check in early. They were also kind enough to hold our luggage for free while we waited to check in and while we waited to leave.

But overall this was not a pleasant stay and I will definitely look elsewhere next time. I could have gotten more for my money from hotels in the area.

I got on the elevator with two suitcases and then had to drag it up 10 stairs because the elevator lets you off between the floors instead of the floor where the rooms are. Very inconvenient for people traveling with big bags. The stairs were uneven.

An utterly disastrous faulty towers experience.
We arrived at 1am and they couldn’t find our booking - a crew of 8 people travelling we had booked 4 twin rooms
We ended up having to share three people per room and one double howveee one of the rooms was full! Do we opened to the door to other terrified guests. The manager in the morning instead of appologizing proceeded to shout about why it wasn’t their fault.
No apology and so rude. We will never go back.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kabanel very much. (Family of 3) The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable and the staff was very nice and very helpful. The location was great - easy to find, close to major metro/train station, and we felt safe in the area. There is a fresh food market across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby. Not super fancy, but definitely checks off all the boxes for me! I would stay again.

Nice hotel

Hotel is very easy to get to, very warm welcome on arrival and room had your basic needs. Hair dryer needs updating as it does little to no drying. One improvement would be to offer English tea. Only tea on offer was fruit tea. Buffet breakfast was perfect for what we needed

Very noisy rooms, you can hear other guests conversations which makes sleep very difficult. You can hear alarms for flights at early hours which makes your sleep disrupted and it will affect your holiday. Surrounding area seems a little dangerous at night. Wi-Fi not good. Room had a strange smell in bathroom. Some wear and tear needs some attention

conveniently located near Gare de L'est, easy to reach with public transport. The hotel has been renovated recently, however the renovation is shallow so you can feel it's a very old building that needs proper reconstruction. I had an attic room and everything was wobbly.

We are staying in the second building with lift and my old mother needs to walk everyday upstairs was disaster.

The room is aged and the tile in the shower is lossen with a big hotel behind it. This quality is so expensive comparing to the price

Wifi is almost zero and I need to use my own data

I saw a rat passing in ground floor of the hotel which is unacceptable.

Insulation of noise is terrible. You can hear other doors closing.

Not really recommended. The only good thing is location

I’m genuinely grateful for the handsome young man (receptionist) who helped me to carry my luggage all the way to level 3. Really thanks a lot for his help. I cant imagine to carry the luggage myself to level 3. Merci beaucoup! ❤️

Cozy and location....Montmatre

When we got there, the outside structure was covered in scaffolding but didn't affect our stay. Kind receptionists, free coffee and water, clean modern room, confy bed, wifi and plenty of hot water. Breakfast buffet was included and could be better (raw eggs you have to boil). Overall, we been in Paris before and wanted to stay in this area because Montmatre, restaurants and the vibe.

It was good hotel, warm and cosy. Breakfast is pretty good, so definitely worth of money. Only issue was the walls, we could hear what was happening on the other side. Good hear toilet flushing and somebody using sink.

Trying to stay with family in a to tiny apartment in Paris we turned to Hotels.com for an alternative. Came through big time with our fast reservation at Hôtel Kabanel. The room was exactly as described. Very comfortable with extra helpful and friendly staff. Great location too.
The only drawback was the absence of a lift, normal for Paris. The 3 flights of stairs were still better than the 8 flights of stairs to my granddaughter's apartment.
I would definitely stay here again when returning to Paris.

Room did not look like photos. Property looks more like a motel. Star was rude, cleaning lady went and banged on the door with front desk staff asking us to leave and held the door open and wouldn’t close it. AC wouldn’t work, current construction on site so there is noise during the day
