It was clean but there wasn't much room for us to walk inside the room, the bed took up almost all the space (maybe 8 inches from the side of the bed to the wall, on the window side of the bed). Thankfully the huge headboard held our one piece of carry-on luggage and backpack. The room was pretty small, we had to walk into the bathroom sideways to get to the toilet. The hotel is VERY close and convenient to St. Mark's square and many restaurants. All that said -- a hotel is so much more than a room with a bed — it's also the service from the staff. Which was lacking. I have to say this was a very disappointing part. First, they do not seem to keep someone at the front desk. This caused me great trouble -- as a package had been sent to me the day I arrived -- but because no one was at the front desk to receive it the postal service returned it to sender in Rome! (It was my computer power source.) Very frustrating and costly for me. My power brick, cord and adapter never made it back - now I'm out $87! The breakfast in the morning was good but a bit confusing. No silverware is available for self service and there was very minimal staff (eg., only one person working in the front restaurant around the corner). To top it all off-- we had to open the windows at night (with no screens!) because they turned our A/C off! Apparently once they turn on the heat to the building, EVERYone gets heat. I woke up covered in sweat then threw up from being overheated.

Great Location, clean rooms and friendly staff.

Excellent location on the grand canal, there is a vaperetto station a few hundred feet away. Very walkable location. The rooms were comfortable the bathrooms are. a bit tight and the showers are quite small so if you are a larger person you might not find it to be comfortable. We loved our stay here and would certainly come back again.

Quiet simple hotel / room within walking distance to so much of what Venice has to offer. While the front desk were usually at the larger (and probably more expensive) sister property, they were quick to respond to calls and requests.
If you are ok with simple (small) accommodations this is a real value opportunity.

Our experience at Hotel Campiello was wonderful!! The location is right around the corner from the Grand Canal and within easy walking distance to St. Mark’s Square. The concierge, David, was warm and welcoming, and extremely helpful. Highly recommend!! David made the experience wonderful!!

We stayed in this hotel for a single night before heading home. We had their apartment which was huge and totally unexpected. The sofabed isn’t the most comfortable but then are they ever comfortable. The apatosaurus a great base for anyone staying and want to also self cater.

We stayed in one of the apartments. It is the nicest room we stayed at in Italy so far. We didn’t need the kitchen or living room but it was nice having all the space!
Some negatives for those who read the comments- the shower is small, but it also had a bath tub which is wonderful after a long day of walking: the pillows are hard flat pancakes, but I used my blanket in a bag that I always travel with: breakfast was two doors down the lobby, but it was the best breakfast that included boiled or scrambled eggs, meats, cereals, yogurts, breads, sweets…: the noise of people rolling their luggage through the courtyard, but just deal with it, better yet wear ear plugs. The location is super!
Elvis was so helpful, never got the other guys name because he looked so much lik Elvis.

From the time of checking in to checking out, this hotel was awful. When we arrived, we were standing outside waiting to be allowed access to enter. You hit the call bell outside the doors, no one answers. No one at the desk and no answer by calling them on the phone. Got to our room and it’s tiny. Definitely not like the pictures online. The room was 200 sq feet and bathroom about 40. A cruise ship room was bigger than this. The shower was missing one of the two doors needed to not let water out. The remote was missing the backing and had tape all over it and was heavily covered in dust. If you want anything like a receipt or to check out, you’ll have to walk to the sister hotel Paganelli. Breakfast hours served later than normal (7:30) so we couldn’t eat breakfast due to our 12 o’clock flight. It takes 80+ minutes to get to the airport by water bus and you have to be there early for your flight. Checking out was a nightmare as we were told when we checked in that someone would be there early to help us checkout. Nope! No answer at the door bell, no answer by calling, walked to Paganelli and door is open but no one at the front desk. Picked up the phone to call someone and no answer. 20 minutes of walking between both hotels to find a person and finally someone showed up at Paganelli to turn our keys in for Campiello. For the price we paid, we were overcharged. Go somewhere else.

No place to put any toiletries near the sink, no space to put your luggage except on the bed, not even anywhere on the floor

The place is totally unattended and they referred you to another hotel front desk if you need something. The person who checked us in was not very clear about that. We decided to move to another hotel not without paying a night and a half for one night.

Couple in Venice for 3 nights

Hotel is very nicely positioned, in a very small side street, just 2 blocks from St Mark's square and close to the main water front.
Checkin was in the sister hotel around the corner which was actually right next to the Vaporetta stop (water bus) which was helpful.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Restaurant was good enough and breakfast was very good which made a good start to the day.
Would consider staying there again.

In December 2019 I paid in advance for reservations to stay at Hotel Campiello, Venice for three nights , September 19, 20 and 21, 2020 precruise on a Holland Ameica cruise out of Venice, The cost for these three nights was $855.90. On May 6, 2020 we received an email from Orlando Ashford, President of Holland America Cruise Line stating because of the pandemic(Covid-19), \"we have decided to cancel all Alaska, Europe and Canada/New England cruises for 2020. Regretfully, this means we must cancel your upcoming voyage.\" I then notified Hotel Campiello, Venice requesting a refund of my prepaid hotel reservations, but I never received any refund.

Hotel ideal situation only 5 minute walk to St Marks Square, 2 minute from Ferry stop . Although bedroom was small it had everything needed for a short stay. even had small fridge . Bed was comfortable,

Couldn't choose a better location!

The location of this hotel could not be better! 2 blocks from St. Mark's Square and the vaparetto from the airport stops basically right in front of the hotel. The breakfast was very good. The bathroom was typical tiny European. We traveled with friends whose bathroom was much bigger. Only minor complaint was the hairdryer was pretty much a joke. I'd stay here again for sure.

Located 1/2 block from Zacarria water bus stop, the Compiello hotel was easy to find and get to with our luggage. It's an easy walk to St Marks, the basilica, the waterfront and loads of restaurants and shops. The staff was very friendly and our ground floor apt. was quite large and had two bathrooms. Besides the light sewer gas smell (no sink traps, I think) that we had in all Italian hotels, our 3-day stay was great. Breakfast was very good with an assortment of fruits, breads, meats & cheeses, coffee/juice, and scrambled/hard boiled eggs. We'd surely stay here again.

Hotel Campiello is right in the heart of Venice within a quick walk from the waterfront, St. Mark's Square and the canals filled with shops and dining. The front desk guys were very weird and rude, as was the woman who cleaned the rooms. They charged for a \"tourist tax\" when you are checking out but that was never mentioned at the time of making the reservation or when we checked in. They don't give you directions or explain about the breakfast at check in. The room was old and moldy. The bathroom and shower were really tiny. We asked for an iron at 9am in the morning and they said they just can give you one after 3 pm, so we had to be without our clothes ironed the whole day. Being honest, breakfast is the only thing this hotel does well.

The hotel staff is very accommodating once you arrive. Prior to arrival I e-mailed the property twice to determine how to get to the hotel and never received a response. After staying there, this property is in an amazing location, a block straight off the San Zaccaria water taxi line. The rooms are very, very, small but you really don't spend much time in them so it doesn't matter. The breakfast is very good and the facility is clean.

In order to sit down on the toilet in the bathroom, you needed to put your knees under the bathroom sink. I am a small person. I am not sure what a large person would do!

We stayed two nights post cruise. The location was perfect -just minutes from Saint Mark’s. It was very easy to find from San zaccaria taxi stop. We arrived around 9:30am and they accommodated us with our room within an hour. The room was comfortable but the bathroom was a bit small. Breakfast was included with many options of eggs, cold cuts, yogurt and pastries. The concierge was very helpful with transportation and dining information. They also accommodated our early departure and let us eat early.

We loved having a free breakfast and it was a wonderful selection of food. It was also nice having free WiFi. The location was good too. It is very close to where the water taxi dropped us off. Dragging suitcases around to your hotel is not fun but it was close enough to be ok. After we did that we did notice a porter by the water we could have hired. It was also very close to San Marcos Square, gondola rides, restaurants, stores, and souvenir kiosks. The bathroom was very small and not much room to put your toiletries but looked brand new and beautiful. Our room had beautiful, unique furniture, and was small but we were t in the room much so that was ok. There was a big closet and I loved having a full length mirror. The price was very reasonable and we would definitely go back.

A Hidden Gem

My daughter and I extended a cruise vacation with the nights in Venice before heading home. This was the perfect hotel for us -- a great location that could accommodate us with two single beds for a reasonable price!

The location is fabulous, about two blocks a main vaporeto stop, a gondola base, and the Alilaguna water bus which offers faster transport to and from farther places such as the cruise ship pier, the airport, Murano, Boitano, etc. Also only a short walk of only three or four blocks to St. Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace.

The breakfast, which was included, offered a nice variety of coffee, tea, fruit juices, pastries, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, cold cereal and milk, fresh fruit, etc. Very pleasant!

And the staff were welcoming and friendly, and with the front desk staffed 24 hours for secure entry we felt quite safe. We were able to get simple directions and answers to our many questions. I would stay here again, and highly recommend this small, quirky, pretty hotel to fellow travelers.

The hotel rooms are very small, but clean and comfortable.
Beds although narrow were comfortable. We thought the room was quite hot at night (outside temperature was about 18 degrees during the day - end March/start April) but the location can't be beaten. 2 mins walk to the start of the grand canal, San Zacharia vaparetto stop for airport 2 mins walk even with bags. Turn right out of the hotel for a quick walk to st marks square and some lovely bars and restaurants. turn left to walk along the canal. breakfast was very nice, with fresh sweet croissants brought to your table. we had coffee but tea was available. Tables are small and breakfast area is cosy but the staff are lovely and all speak English. Rooms were tidied every day with fresh towels even though we didn't really need them, the safe was free to use, fancy glass chandelier in the room and there was a fridge. All in all, a pleasant, good value for money, hotel. all doors were digital with keycard entry, but not sure if the fridge stayed cold when the room wasn't in use as the card operated the lights. two plug sockets only in the room and the room could have benefited from a mirror near one of the sockets. the bathroom was small, but had a toilet, shower, handbasin and bidet. it also had a decent hairdryer which worked fine and the shower was a power shower with body jets - which was fun! i stayed with my adult daughter. no tea/coffee making facilities, but we kept water in the fridge.

Close to all the main visitor attractions. 3 min away from the vaporetto stop which was very convenient. We could even get to our 6:25 am train with 45 mins to spare. Had a nice breakfast at the hotel too. The rooms are small but clean and well maintained. Would stay here again

Wonderful property. Great location. The apartment was very clean and just the right size for our family. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was very good. Highly recommend this property and we will stay here again on our next trip to Venice.

The location is very nice as everything where one needs to go is at a walking distance. Check in time starts at 3 which is frustrating but luckily they had our room ready before 1 which was nice. The breakfast was good too. Room size is decent too.

WONDERFUL location...just steps from S.Zacarria vaporetto stop. Very adequate breakfast buffet. Room included big fluffy towels, very comfy bed. Negative: despite having a “superior triple room” for just two people, room was small, cramped, and no drawers, shelves, hooks, or towel racks. The closet was big with plenty of hangers, but mostly we had to live out of suitcase for 5 days, using the fold out bed for placing open suitcases.
