This rustic, colonial-style hotel is situated just 2 minutes from the white sandy beaches of the Riviera Maya and one block from the renowned Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Visitors may wish to see the eco-archaeological park Xcaret at just a 15-minute drive away, and the celebrated Maya site of Tulum can be reached in under an hour.

Rooms are spacious and colourful with décor inspired by the famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera, and each includes an en suite bathroom, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Guests will have free access to the hotel's chic beach club, and can spend warm evenings lounging by the sparkling outdoor pool and relaxing in the hot tub.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. AC worked great and they were able to keep our bags for us ahead of check in.
The location is right in the center of everything you need right off of Quinta Avenida. Not too noisy but remember you are downtown close to the nightlife. We took a white noise machine and slept fine.

Got to hotel after 12 hour flight and the reservation wasn't there. It had been \"upgraded\" and moved to a different hotel. This was never communicated and it would have not been accepted as the hotel was chosen specifically for the location. The new hotel was 4 blocks away; we had suitcases and no offer to pay a taxi. No compensation offered.
The upgraded solution was horrible. Room located next to the hotel laundry, so noisy. Then loud music from nearby pubs, that's why we didn't want to stay in that area. Thin windows and door let through all chi chat from people staying in the pool area until late.
Hotel was old, need of a lot of maintenance. Coffee maker in the room is for filtered coffee. Filters not provided and no coffee.so are you expected to buy a pack of filters for one night? Don't stay at either hotels. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Room was large and very clean. Staff were always as helpful as they could be with the language barriers from Spanish to English. Any requests were dealt with quickly.
My only complaint was the noise from the restaurant across from my room. In the late evening, lots of banging during cleanup. Also the freezer door banging shut every few minutes.
As well, inconsiderate guests that come back late at night yelling and slamming doors. Not hotel's fault, but maybe post a note near front desk or in rooms to remind guests to be quieter after 11.
Hotel is super close to beach and 5th ave and if you go in the opposite direction, lots of cheaper local restaurants and Walmart within 15 minute walk.

The shower head was moldy and the drain was slow. Some of the staff seemed irritated by us being there. There isn't a bar on premises like the pictures show. Coffee maker but no coffee and none of the markets we went to had coffee grounds. Air conditioner worked well and cleaning staff were nice. Front desk people were quite friendly.

Nice, clean hacienda style place. Good air conditioning; beds were comfortable; room size was good; location was excellent. Only complaint was water in shower never got above tepid and on Thursday and Friday night I could hear/feel base of music from a bar down the street. It wasn’t bad and didn’t keep me awake, but noticed it in the background when I was awake. I figure it is a small trade off for the great location and being able to walk everywhere I wanted.

The hotel is in a great location—just a short walk to the beach, souvenir shops, the ferry, and the ADO bus station, making it easy to get around. The area felt safe, and there are plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby.

Room service did an excellent job making the bed and respecting our belongings, which we appreciated. However, the room itself was quite stuffy and had a noticeable moldy smell, likely due to the humidity and the age of the building. The door didn’t close properly, causing it to make noises throughout our stay. Also, there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. The biggest downside was the WiFi—it simply didn’t work.

Overall, if you’re looking for a convenient location and don’t mind some maintenance issues, this could be an option, but improvements are needed.

The hotel was okay for my one night stay. Having to carry my 2- 50 pound suitcases up 3 floors was not so good. There was no one to help. The staff is very friendly. The one strange thing was that you are not allowed to drink your beer in the lobby or lower level but you can drink it on the street. All in all it was good.

Great hotel! Incredibly accessible location - the hotel is close to everything. It's right on quinta, next to ADO and ferry, not to mention all the dining options. We loved the hacienda style - the room was spacious, beautiful and unique, and the hotel had a cozy feeling to it. The best was the big balcony with a nice view. Really worth it for the price!

I loved the feel of this hotel. It reminded me of Encanto. I think that's probably the only positive I can say. Check-in wasn't bad. We were told we could get towels for the beach-no towels. Room service wasn't done cleaning our room when we checked in so I finished helping. No wash clothes... we had ONE to share with 3 people for 5 days. They did not give us more bottled water so we went to Walmart to get some. Showers were FREEZING. Pool was FREEZING. Another guest got beaten up and bled all over the steps and floor... never cleaned up. Nobody spoke English.

The facility had faded glory. Room was very good with good beds. The hot water was not working on and off.
Weird to have a coffee maker but no coffee to make, even when inquired for. Pool is small and in the middle of all the lobby activity.
Hotel is right in the Avenida 5 shopping market area but was still quiet.

When we arrived the room had strong smell of urine. We weren't sure if it was from the bathroom or the space outside the bathroom window. It eventually dissipated.

A well located Mexican gem

This is a lovely, quaint, Mexican-style hotel. The staff was great and very attentive. The hotel is very clean and located centrally in Playa del Carmen - close to the beach, the bus station and 5th Ave. If you are looking for a modern, American-style hotel, this is not for you. You may need to ask for hand towels and supply your own water but the location, the staff and the genuine atmosphere are wonderful.

I used it just for a night but the hotel doesn't have elevators , so first I ask for 1st floor room but they didnt have any available, so I have to take a bike suitcase, and all the other suitcases to the 3rd floor alone in a narrow stairs. Nobody offers any help. Definitively I am not going to recommend this hotel .

I would highly recommend staying here it is so central to everything. Fifth Avenue and central where all the entertainment is and you're a very short walk to the beach. Also a very short walk away from some delicious very cheap food, where the locals eat.

Franco was absolutely amazing. Helping me to catch a collectivo for the first time even writing down instructions for the driver to let him know that I wanted to go to Cenote Azul.

Excellent service. Very quiet at night but very close to absolutely everything that you need.

El hotel a máximo 10 min caminando de lo que puedas necesitar… farmacias, tiendas, souvenirs, la playa, restaurantes etc. El único punto en contra es que no cuenta con estacionamiento pero todo lo demás muy bien. El hotel es bonito, con lo esencial. Los chicos de recepción educados aunque no muy amigables, de ahí en fuera el demás staff muy bien.

Location was perfect. Was able to walk to many restaurants and transportation was easy to find. Very clean. Cute hotel. Hot water and cold AC. Only thing lacking was a mini fridge to keep drinks cold. Otherwise, great place to stay.

The A/C was not working, it was reported and then it worked for a while and then it stopped. The TV was not working either. But overall the Hotel was clean and well kept.

A little run down but everything else makes up far it. The floors and furniture are old. The bed was very comfortable. Shower pressure was great. Margarita was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with upon my arrival and stay!

Perfectly Adequate for a Short Stay.

The hotel was perfectly adequate for a short stay. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed, no issues with hot water or the heat pump. And the location is great. Surprisingly quiet, given the proximity to 5th Ave.
Only a couple of negatives. It would be great to have a bar fridge to keep a few drinks or breakfast items. And the Internet is very wonky. Get booted frequently.
