A quality, friendly, inexpensive hotel option

Clean room with a great view, very friendly and informative staff, good coffee. About a 20 minute walk from the Seine/Notre Dame and 20 minutes from the Opera House. There are tons of shops and restaurants nearby.

Too many stairs to climb and hard to get to room. Too much room noise from other rooms. Location is poor. Too much traffic. It took 40 minutes for cabs to go just 3-4 km. Making a cab ride expensive. But that was cabs. Uber rides were much quicker. Stay away from cab rides. Way too many people in Paris.

Okay but cleanliness could be improved

The hotel is okay however the cleanliness could be improved. There were hairs in the bathroom still which was off putting. In addition the room was pretty worn with cracks in some times and also some gaps in the ceiling and flooring. There are definitely worse hotels in Paris but considering the price there are definitely better options too. However the staff were super friendly and helpful for everything as well

The staff was very helpful and reception was open 24/7, the room was clean, air conditioning worked properly, and the hotel is very well located. As a female travelling alone I felt safe. The only downside for me (but also not a big deal) were the areas where you have to walk up the stairs. Some parts are accesible through the elevator, but not all of them.

A Hike to the Top!

I'm a youthful 58 year old with the body of a 25 year old so the sporadic stair situation was easily incorporated into my daily workout. However, those with bad knees should avoid this hotel. This is not my first rodeo in Paris so I understand the sacrifice of convenience for charm. But even my most able bodied, fit visitor complained about the hike to my room, even with the tiny elevator that only reached the 4th fl, and only broke down once, requiring a trek to the 6th floor. Other than that, and the archaic, inconvenient key situation, the staff was attentive, and the room was comfortable. Proximity to the Marais and Strasbourg St Denis Metro station was a plus.

Everyone was kind, helpful, and amazing. From the initial welcome to the final goodbye (where I debated hugging the manager). Even though I was a stranger, they treated me like family.

My room had a comfortable bed and pillows, a safe and a mini-fridge. The bathroom had everything one needed (plenty of hot water) and I made good use of the iron and the table-top ironing board. The room was small, but it was so well organized that it did not feel small. I also loved having a window (with the Juliette balcony) that I could open to let in some fresh air. My room overlooked… I’m going to call it an inner courtyard, so it was very quiet. There was also a central heating/cooling system with adjustable controls.

The only thing the visitors should be prepared for are the stairs — they will have to drag their suitcases up (in my case) two flights of stairs. However, M. F. was there to help.

I don’t know if I would have felt safe being in the area alone at night. I usually returned before dark. Early mornings in the area are quiet.

The hotel has easy access to the metro, but I walked everywhere, so did not use it during this trip. I loved discovering the streets of Paris.

I did not partake of the reasonably-priced breakfast, because I preferred to eat alone in my room. There are many restaurants, grocery stores, and even a Fruit Palace near the area. Cutlery was provided.

I honestly cannot recommend this hotel enough and would be happy to return again on a future visit.

The hotel was excellent. It was conveniently located from the Strasbourg St Denis Station which is an interchange for line 4, 8 and 9, giving you direct access to Les Halles, Opera and Champs Elysee and Trocadero without having to change trains. The station and area were lively even at midnight so you wouldn’t have to worry about walking late in the night from the station to the hotel. It is definitely worth it for time is money when you travel.

In terms of the rooms and amenities, the triple room we stayed in is spacious by Paris standard with two beds and is located on an annexed building facing the quieter inner court, although at the price of some walking up the stairs. Equipped with a TV, a closet with coat hangers, a desk, a safe and refrigerator, you wouldn’t have to worry about storing the food you buy during your trip, which is great as not all hotels in Paris come with a refrigerator. The bathroom was pristine and adequately-sized with a large mirror, heating, hairdryer and good lighting.

As for the service, we were always supplied with clean towels and sufficient toilet papers, and it always feels refreshing to come back to a well-polished room after a tiresome day of sightseeing.

What most impressed us, however, was the personnel there, all of them was exceptionally helpful, assisting us with carrying the luggage up the stairs and calling a taxi to airport. We are so tempted to book this place again if we ever return!

The friendly reception staff were amazing and made a huge difference to our 3 day Paris trip - great advice for getting to tourist spots (routes & travel) and places to eat. The hotel is basic, very clean and positioned very close to the Metro (2 mins walk away). If you need a room just to sleep in the evenings, this is the place to stay.

From the moment I arrived, I was so welcomed by the staff! There are a lot of stairs and the elevator only goes to some of ithe floors because the hotel is actually two old buildings joined together. But the front desk helped me, arthritic knees and all, to get my bags up to my room on the fifth floor. I was late to breakfast on the second day, but they let me eat and drink, anyway! It's a good thing, too, because I never got lunch. My wallet was stolen so I spent all day making police reports, shutting off my credit cards, and going to the embassy for an emergency passport. When I got back to the hotel, where I'd left my bags, the guys at the front desk listened to my story and insisted on getting me tea and encouraging me to take some food from the fridge in the breakfast dining room. So kind, and above and beyond!

Simply a wonderful throwback hotel! The staff were absolutely fantastic - I mean just wonderful. The room we had was excellent, great size for an older style European hotel (it was actually larger than expected), it had a great view of the city AND a balcony (so needless to say my wife was ecstatic). It also had A/C and a 1/3 size fridge to store leftovers and cold drinks.

That being said, there are a number of steps from the main floor hall (street access) to the hotel's main desk ...... not a deal breaker but something you be aware of if you require a lift or have trouble with stairs.

Second thing, this is managed like a old time hotel - so they still use ACTUAL room keys, that you must turn into the front desk every time you leave the hotel (not a big deal but something to be aware of).

To sum it up - we stayed for 13 days and loved every minute of it. I would stay here again in heartbeat (and very likely will next summer).

An excellent inexpensive hotel for a family holiday in Paris. Clean, quiet, 50 meters to the metro. There are many supermarkets nearby. Refrigerator in the room. The downside is that the sweet breakfast is not tasty, but thanks to the large number of cafes nearby this is not a problem. Entrance to the hotel is only by calling the receptionist - it would be more convenient to open the door yourself using the key.

My wife, two children and I just got back to the U.S. from a trip to Paris for 6 days and stayed at the Hotel Cosmotel. The rooms are small as you would expect in Paris, but extremely clean and comfortable. We had a room with two queen beds and they were just the right level of softness. You can open the window to let in a cool night breeze. There is good maid service each day, although she kept forgetting the toilet paper for some reason. When you walk out the door of the hotel, turn right. The area to the left is not so good and there isn't really much in that direction anyway. There is a Lidl supermarket and numerous pharmacies right across the street so we could fill our small fridge with water bottles and fruit. There is a great place to grab a gyro or kabob platter 1/2 block away called \"Chou Chou\" and the food is good. McDonalds and KFC a block away but come on, you are in Paris! Great bakeries within two blocks of course. 25 minute walk to Louvre, Notre Dame, etc. just like it says, but we took metro everywhere, which is only a block away. But the best part of the hotel, by far, is the owner and his assistant. One of them is always at the front desk every morning all day long, and if you let them know what you plan on doing, they will pull out a map and highlighter and tell you how to get there, what not to miss, and other valuable tips to make each day's exploring that much more pleasurable. These two men are fantastic! I'd say more but out of room*****

This was Fantastic choice to stay it, the area doesn’t look like much but in reality it is a fantastic location and safe! Clean rooms, great staff and a little cat runs around the hallways. The area around the hotel is in a sketchy neighborhood, we couldn't find an elevator to get to the reception and to lug our luggage up a flight of steps. The staff ask you return the key if you go outside of the hotel, not sure why.

Its not a place you stay if you wish enjoy your vacation, its an overnight place to sleep, that's about it.

We only slept in the hotel and were out and about in Paris all day and night. The hotel was fine and most important was the aircondition! The hotel manger was very helpful and we are very thankful for all of his good advice. He drew us a map and told us all the things we had so see, good restaurants etc.

Amazing people work in this hotel, they are friendly, helpful, always smiling and very attentive. I want to really emphasize how great the team of staff in this hotel is. The location is really bad, it is at a very risky area of Paris and scared me a lot as a young female.

The hotel is in a great location if travelling by Eurostar from London to explore Paris, with so many of the sites, dining options all within a walking distance. For other trips, the Metro station is within a 5minute walk and made is really easy for our family to get around the city.

The rooms were comfortable and clean and had all we needed as a family.

The biggest positive of the hotel was the staff. They were all so welcoming, friendly and helpful and really added to our experience.

Our room had a small fridge. 100 m to the nearest Metro station, 10 minutes walking distance to Gare de l'est. Grocery store (LIDL) across the street. Many good bistros, restaurants, brasseries etc. within walking distance.

Brilliant staff. Room had what you needed. Not the most comfortable but good enough for city break. Not far from Gare du Nord train station where you can get a train too from airport.
Nothing special nothing fancy but when youre exploring paris dont need it. Metro close by to get to eiffel tower and louvre as a little far to walk too. Good restaurants near. Informative staff to tell you where to avoid and nice areas of the city.

Warning in general about paris is to watch for pick pockets. Staff remind you of this during check in.

Supermarket across the road. Safe in room no deposit or charge.

This is our second stay here at the Hotel Cosmotel and we have enjoyed both stays. The hotel is close to the Gare de L’est and one block from the Paris metro. Very friendly staff, easy to get around and one block from some of the best Indian food we have ever had. Prices are quite reasonable and breakfast is 9 euro. Good value in an area where you can feel more like a Parisian and less like a tourist.

For the price in Paris, it’s difficult to do much better than Cosmotel. The hotel is close to the metro and the air conditioning in the heat wave was a complete savior. Really nice hotel for the money. Staff all really nice and very helpful.Showed me where i needed to go, directions, maps, what metro stations etc.
Room was really nice, bed comfortable, very clean and bathroom clean and nice aswell. Very good value for money i thought.
Hotel is very central to everything with a few metro stations very nearby aswell. The street it is on isnt the most desirable street in the world but i came back late a few times and did not get any hassle or feel threatened. Found some places to eat and drink close to the hotel and was very nice. All in all i had a great stay and thought the hotel was ideal for what i wanted it for. Clean, good staff, good WIFI and good value for money, i would definately stay again next time in Paris.

Great service!

The staff at Cosmotel were incredible. They went so far as to let us know what areas to avoid at what times the protesters would be there as to not ruin our experience. I had trouble getting an Uber and the gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to order a taxi for me. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Clean room + perfect location + perfect staff

Perfect location. Less than one min walk to the metro station. Within 30 mins walking distance to a number of attractions. Surrounded by many restaurants and bars, with various types of food and price ranges.
Room cleaning everyday. Towels and 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner & body wash were provided. Room with air-conditioner.
Super friendly and helpful staff. They taught us how to go to the attractions clearly and recommended the areas for food.

A little warm at night, but still enjoyable

Room is kept too warm at night. The area is fine, but not touristy enough. However, it was very close to a major subway station. When you came in or left they greeted you in a friendly manner.
One weird thing: You have to drop your key off when you leave, but when you come back they don't ask for ID to get your key back (all you need is your room number).

The hotel is conveniently located near a Metro stop. The staff is very friendly and spoke English. Very helpful in helping us plan our day and showing us how to get to places. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Hidden gem

The hotel is a great value for the cost. It is close to several metro and bus stops and the service is amazing. The rooms are clean and relatively comfortable. The walls are pretty thin, but generally, things quiet down by bedtime except on the weekend. There are restaurants, etc. nearby. The front desk folks are very helpful and friendly, they made the stay worthwhile. The wifi was ok, a little weak in the evening when the use was heavier. Didn't try breakfast. This isn't a flashy or fancy hotel. It is clean, comfortable, affordable, and filled with friendly people. If you are looking for a safe and clean place to rest your head, this is a good spot.

This hotel is not welcoming to children, at least certain staff (possibly owner) isn't. I would normally be fine with that and simply book elsewhere, as some hotels prefer adults, but had no way of knowing because this was not stated anywhere in their policies. The cleanliness of the hotel is mixed. Housekeeping certainly puts forth an effort to try and keep tidy, but the towels were very dingy, stained and were in poor repair. They need to be replaced as the thread is unraveling. The bathroom sink, when filled and plugged, leaked onto the towels the staff had placed underneath the sink. The walls all had scuffs and large portions of peeling paint, and the door was not finished after it had been replaced. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired (cold cereal, and prepackaged biscuits, some croissants), especially when one calculates the additional cost required to access it. The highlights of the hotel are that the overnight desk managers were super kind, and the breakfast staff was nothing but sweet.

Cosmotel is your place to stay

Location was the key for me traveling by myself. You have everything you need around and close to the hotel. Hotel is clean and safe. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Room rates excellent and Farouk at the front desk would make your stay unforgettable a total gem. Thank you all!

The people at the front desk were so nice and spoke great English. They recommended awesome restaurants and locations to visit. This was an excellent location. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We like to walk and had no problem getting around- also Uber was quick and easy.

Cosmotel is keen!

I’ve read a few reviews on Cosmotel before I booked and some critics said they felt the area was questionable. If you don’t like a variation in skin tones or a mob of gay people pouring out of the musical theatre that’s next door to the Cosmotel then yes the Cosmotel is not the hotel for you.
My experience with the area and the hotel was fantastic. The hotel could use a little work but the showers were hot and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the host at the front desk is bar none the best friend you never knew you had until you check in. He had maps and a highlighter and was quick to offer up quick routes to things we wanted to see and offered up great suggestions for food. The hotel is one block from the Metro which made travel a cinch. Tons of bakeries with great pastries and sandwiches are near by and if you don’t like good food, there is a KFC and a McDonalds on the same block to sort you out.
The street is a little busy and you can hear scooters, cars, and some people having a good time outside sometimes but dammit, you’re in Paris, so let the nightlife outside your window remind you there’s a lot of great things going on. If you don’t like it bring some ear plugs or run across the street to the grocery store and get a cheap bottle of wine for like 4£ and join the party downstairs.

Location and cleanliness are very strong points of this hotel.
As with many European hotel rooms, they're quite small, but manageable once you figure out how to organise yourself.
The elevator starts from one floor up and this is a pain on arrival and departure.
Otherwise, a very good spot to stay.

Cosmotel review

The quality of service was not great, it was unprofessional and was not helpful. Although he can speak good english, he was rude and failed to assist us properly. The hotel had spiral stairs from the ground floor to the reception; it is very inconvienent for tourists who have luggages. The elevator is located on the second floor, which only fits TWO people.
The room was clean. The hotel was close to restaurants, the Metro, and a few supermarkets. But, the environment did not feel safe.

The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. When we checked in the owner pulled out a map and explained in detail the surrounding neighborhoods and the best way to get to each. The room was very clean and comfortable.
