The room was clean, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The pool area was enjoyable, and the location was convenient. However, the hotel did not look like the photos advertised on Expedia. The images online made the property seem much more upscale than it appeared in person. I also wish there were more activities available for guests during the day and evening. While the stay was decent overall, I felt the hotel was somewhat misleading compared to the online photos and lacked enough entertainment options to justify the price

My wife and I had a great experience. The hotel is very nice and our room was clean. One thing we appreciated was that our bed was made and towels/washcloths were replaced daily without asking. We prepaid for the breakfast buffet which was worth it and the food was good, no complaints. The pool and beach is right on the backside of the hotel, very convenient. The oceanview from our room was great.

Most of the staff were great except some at front desk and a hostess at Ocean Breeze. Hostess was awful, wouldn’t make eye contact, didn’t respond to anything we asked her, just flat out ignored us. But the servers were stellar.
Air conditioning in gym was broken, when my boyfriend asked the front desk if it was getting fixed, they said, “we heard about that.”
When we had issues with disrespectful neighbors, we personally asked them to be quiet (this was around 11pm), then the next day it happened again so we called the front desk and when they came and spoke to them, the person next door told them it was their “right,” they were “told they could have the tv at 75” (14 was loud) and “they knew who it was that called.” We could hear all of this right outside our door. Hotel security basically said, “okay,” and left without doing anything. We were uncomfortable with this and wanted some sleep (and a nice vacation) so we requested a room change.
Someone came and helped us move which was very nice and unexpected. But when we asked the front desk to have our wristbands updated to the new room and another key card (they only gave us one), they looked at us like we were insane. But they did it.
Staff at the coffee bar/cafe were amazing, and the housekeeping staff were so sweet and helpful.
Beach is stunning and beach staff is awesome!
Lastly: site says resort fee covers daily water but you only get 2 on your 1st day when you arrive in your room. Be prepared to spend $ on water.

This hotel was everything I wanted. Rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Only complaint is that the pillows were flat. The shower was the best part!!! The food was decent. Mostly walked to the different restaurants. Walgreens is down the street. Because we were there during the week there was no entertainment. Ended up at the hotel next door El San Juan for music and gambling. Do want to give a shout out to Valerie from the front desk. There was a little miscommunication but she upgraded my room and sent a bottle of wine to our room for our 37th anniversary. Pool area was clean and the beach is right there. If you want authentic Puerto Rican food walk to the Lechonera Diego. Good pork and rice. If you want fast food Churches and Wendy’s across the street. Even Cold Stone Creamry is across the street. Hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport. Do highly recommend this hotel if you want to just relax by the pool or the beach. If management reads this please acknowledge Valerie for her customer service skills!!!! I will definitely return.

I had one of the worst experience here, starting with customer service at the front. We have to pay resource fees and they came off a deposit when I got up to my room my door was not working and they had to replace the door lock in the middle of the night. If you’re gonna charge over $1000 we expect to have the most exciting experience and I was the opposite of that. The pool was the only thing that was good.

Nice stay, staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice as well, spacious. My only comment is about the cleanliness around the pool. Besides the leaves, and plants you may find (normal for having plants around) there were plastics, cups, straws, pool floor has dirt. They need to do better. Also, the cabanas… it started to rain and no way you could stay there. They need to fix that. Other than that, was good and we had a great time.

Great Stay! Went on memorial day weekend and it was perfect! Liked the complementary waters everyday in our room. The shampoo and conditioner left my hair so soft, Great quality. Like the swim up bar it was quite nice. The crowd was not old not to young not to many kids. The fact that I could walk to the beach was a plus and it wasn't even a long walk from my room to the shore it was max 5 min. Definitely will come back!

This was my second stay here this year, and I have another stay here in a month!!
The location is CLOSE to the airport- a 5 minute ride. The hotel itself is EXCELLENT, the rooms /grounds everything is a 5-star. Staff are beyond friendly. The only 2 items and these are trivial, I wish they had balcony chairs to sit out on, but the balcony is more of a Juliet style, and the drinks are NOT good (go across the street to the store and buy a bottle of DON Q )and make your own!!!!
William who checks your bags is the sweetest man ever! Beyond friendly!! Love this location as well it is RIGHT ON the beach, theres no crossing the road etc and 2 blocks down is Foxwoods Casino!

I would not recommend this hotel. For the price you are paying, you would expect a 5 stars service and comfortable beddings and clean rooms. This is not what we got. The beds were uncomfortable and There were cockroaches in our bedroom on the last day, we were extremely disappointed. The food in the hotel restaurants is poor and not as expected. I would not recommend this hotel

Beautiful however the only 1 outlets in my room worked, so charging my phone, headphones and computerwas difficult. The shower head holder was broken, it kept falling off the wall. The television does not connect any apps and the Internet keeps going out.
So I only gave it a four star because my room was difficult, but the rest of the property was beautiful.

Overall had a great stay. Loved how close to the airport it’s located, very walkable area with many food options in the area. Pools were clean and never too crowded. Loved it was beach front and could walk right out to the beach. One thing we disliked was the beach chairs were picked up before sunset. If staying above the 4th floor you must scan your room key or bracelet, bracelet was tricky to scan. We used valet for our rental car and staff was quick and attentive bringing our car every-time. Our room was spacious and got fresh towels everyday. Shower door did not fully close and would spray out. We would definitely stay here again despite those few dislikes.

The Royal Sonesta San Juan was fantastic. Great location, beautiful grounds, clean, welcoming atmosphere, and staff were very attentive and friendly. The rooms were very nice and spacious, and the added patio was a nice addition. Upgrading to the club level was a great experience and worth it. Our only suggestion for the resort would be to upgrade the beach towels and beach/pool chairs as they were a bit worn. Special shout out to Eunice at the front desk who was very accommodating, and to the gentleman each morning in the club level area who greeted us with a friendly vibe each day. We definitely recommend this resort if you are staying in Isla Verde!

We discovered this place using a day pass and fell in love with it. There is a beautiful pool with swim-up bar as well as access to a gorgeous beach (with security and attendants). We were given a free upgrade to an ocean view room but the garden view would have been lovely as well. The restaurants are top notch and the staff is uniformly friendly and helpful. This is our new go-to resort in PR.

Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. I arrived hours before check in they were able to get me into a room very quickly. When checking out we had hours before our evening flight hotel staff offered to store our luggage until it was time to head to the airport. This was our 2nd time @ The Royal Sonesta in PR we do love it and will likely return. The pool could have been a little cleaner this time around.

It was a beautiful property, however the room was not as well maintained as the rest of the hotel and did not match up to the price. Also found the cost of food and drinks unreasonably high for what you were getting. I have stayed at other places in the area that were nicer and much more affordable which is why I personally wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to a friend

I'll start with positives: room was cleaned every day. Food at the restaurants was good.
The cleanliness of the pool and surrounding area was definitely a big issue. We got to the hotel and Thursday night and Friday pool was very clean but after that it wasn't touched. By Monday you had plastic cups sunk at the bottom of the pool, lots of sand, napkins floating etc. I brought it up on Saturday to the staff with the hopes that they would clean it but we left the property without anyone touching it.

Housekeepers made a lot of noise when cleaning the rooms slamming doors laughing and vacuuming the rooms with the doors open the room did not have a sound proof barrier which allowed noises to be heard. None of the soap dispensers were ever refilled so I had to buy my own toiletries.

The Royal Sonesta is on a beautiful beach with a nice pool area. The rooms were comfortable and well taken care of by staff. My one issue I was disappointed with was the meal options. The buffet for breakfast was average at best and the lunch options were nothing to boast about. Fortunately, the Fairmont next store had several quality dinning options which I enjoyed as an alternative during my stay.

No rules were implemented. No children in hot tub should mean that! relaxing i was hot in head with football while kids were unattended in hot tub. i’ve been there before and same thing happened. Our fault we went during spring break so pool was over run with unruley kids with no parents to be seen. Couldn’t really relax, not enough poolside chairs, people would come out at 5 am pick there chairs put all there stuff in it and stay for whole day until evening, leaving no space for others. only a few cabanas to rent with too many guests. Children at the pool side bar.

The Royal Sonesta San Juan was absolutely beautiful and easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure guests have a great stay.

The location is honestly hard to beat. You have direct beach access, so within minutes you can go from your room to having your feet in the sand. The beach is gorgeous, and the pool area is also really nice, especially with the swim-up bar for drinks and snacks while relaxing.

The breakfast buffet is definitely worth adding on, especially if you’re traveling with kids or a big family. It stays open until 12 PM, which was a huge plus for us since we weren’t rushing to wake up early every day. There was a great variety of food with plenty of options for everyone.

We booked through Expedia and got an amazing deal, which made the stay feel like an even better value. Valet parking was also worth it for the convenience.

One thing I loved about this hotel is how close it is to everything. It’s only about 15 minutes from SJU airport, so getting there was quick and easy. Old San Juan is a short Uber ride away, and La Placita is nearby if you want nightlife or food. I also highly recommend taking a quick Uber (about 15 minutes, around $10) to Loíza for more authentic Puerto Rican food and culture instead of paying resort or tourist prices.
