We stayed here in 2023 and the hotel was wonderful. I’m not sure what happened in the last 3 years but the hotel hallways and rooms are falling apart. The lobby, pool, and beach are wonderful but the guest rooms are in DESPERATE need of a makeover. They’re dirty, worn out, and the worst part of all is the AWFUL musty mold smell in the rooms. You can literally see black mold in the air conditioning vents (see photos) and the smell is so overwhelming that I couldn’t sleep. I had to switch rooms 3 times until I finally found a room that didn’t smell or have moldy vents. My son with asthma was coughing terribly from the mold in the rooms. Also, the beach needs new lounge chairs…they’re tattered and ripped. Not even close to a 5 star experience. Felt like something you would expect to find at a drive up motel. Very disappointing. For the amount they’re charging, they need to invest into renovating and cleaning the rooms/air conditioning ducts!

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and nice. The cleaning lady on floor 8 for us was fantastic and had amazing recommendations. So did the staff at the front door. We had issues checking in. We were told our room was ready but then ended up waiting over an hour for a room inspection. It was quite frustrating after traveling. They offered us the pool and bar while we waited but we wanted to get to our room to change and decompress before doing so. That was pretty frustrating. They did give us a credit but It doesnt make up for the time lost that we could have used during the day. Overall the stay was very nice and we enjoyed It. We plan to come back again.

The hotel is beautiful, unique and I had a great stay. What I didn't like is that at the moment of my arrival they didn't have available valet parking service, and didn't have available parking in the hotel. I had to park my car at a very expensive parking across the avenue.

I love the beauty of this place. Wonderful restaurants, pool, beach. Great for photos. Pool closes at 9. That isn’t listed anywhere.

Not terrible just an FYI: 100 per night resort fee is not included in the price.

We went to the rain forest which is really cool but I don’t recommend it if you are not in awesome shape or over 50. Watched a lady carried out on a stretcher with an IV. I hike often. This water slide hike has higher difficulty: roots, mud, slippery rock climbing. Very rustic and zero safety measures.

Old San Juan is great. Recommend a hat, water and sunscreen. You’ll be tired after a full day.

Helpful staff. Entertainment almost every night! Great beach & pools!
Main building can get very noisy there was proms every night, with partying in the hall ways. Water didn’t get very hot or very cold in shower & sink must be just Puerto Rico.
But most everything else was wonderful!!

I have stayed at lots of Hotel/Resorts all over the world, I get resort fees everywhere you go, but I have never seen resort for to the amount of 100.00 per day, plus taxes and fees to make it a total of just over $124.00 per day., that was very disappointing. The location is perfect for a nice beach, nice pool area, plenty of restaurants close by, also nice entertainment in the lobby, such as a band, and plenty of bars (I counted 5) … Would I stay there again? … Absolutely Not! … There are plenty of awesome hotels all over the Island that do not hit your wallet do hard.

A las 3 am el ruido era insoportable. Llamè a recepcion y nadie contestò. Bajè a recepciòn y me indicaron que como hay una discoteca yo debia saber que era asì. Le indiquè que me he quedado en multiple ocasiones en ese hotel y que nunca me habia pasado. Fue un desastre de ruido hasta la 4:30 am

From check in to check out everything was perfect. Our room was ready early and they were conjoined as requested. Room staff were great with providing extra towels. Room was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. Pool music was great and swim up bar bartenders were great especially Efron. The lobby entertainment was on point. Overall an amazing experience!! Thank you, we will be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont celebrating our 30th anniversary and the hotel did not disappoint! Absolutely AMAZING! We were upgraded to a Villa Terrace room which was beautiful ❤️ and the hotel send us chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary 🥰. The room was modern and smelled divine ! Housekeeping impressive keeping our room immaculate daily. Yoel and Mike were outstanding with excellent communication with all our needs. The grounds are clean and beautiful! Martin at the Banyan bar was so nice, funny and sweet!
I give the Fairmont 10 out of 10!! Can’t wait to come back !!!

Beautiful hotel. The staff was great, but honestly, Gabriel at the front desk was exceptional — so helpful, professional, and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back!

The only thing I didn’t understand was the upcharge on the martini we purchased. We paid for the drink itself and then were charged an additional fee specifically for the martini, which was confusing.

The staff was exceptional, night life was great, pools are beautiful and service around the pool is a plus. We love the Banyon Tree so that is an attraction. Only drawbacks were the room does not have a lot of lighting but that is really the vibe of the whole hotel. The halls were noisy after 10 pm at night, certainly not the hotel’s fault. Overall, truly a very special place and I can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful and nostalgic location. Very Frank Sinatra like. Established in 1958 and parts of the room were in need of repair and showed it.

No water in San Juan impacted the pool. Pool staff was great; however, towels and chair covers were stained.Not what I expected from this hotel.

Staff was notvthe friendliest in many cases, especially when checking in, felt like we were bothering when asking for service.

This seemed to be the case throughput the libby and bars.

Ckeaning crew and the tewm was the total opposite. Very attentive and welcoming.

Very hit and miss.

On the positive sid3, I strongly recommend the Meat Market restaurant, felt like all the good servers were in this location.

The pizzeria was also great.

Make your own decision, but felt the hotel has lots of potential for growth and needs to work together to provide a better experience for traveler's. Tourism is critical for this economy, surprised to see the poor customer servuce at times.

Expected better for the premium paid.

Will consider other locations to compare next time.

Our overall experience at this hotel was great. The amenities that this hotel offers in addition to multiple restaurants on site, multiple pools, easy access to beach (including beach chairs and umbrellas with room), etc. Our double queen patio room was always cleaned and provided us with new towels without ask. We also rented a seaside cabana on Saturday and our service provided by the women at the towel counter and Michael and Jose our food & drink servers for the day were extremely kind and helpful with any questions/concerns we had. A couple of things that I believe should be improved are the lighting in the room. It’s VERY dim and for a group of women trying to get ready with minimal lighting, it was rather challenging. In addition, we did feel as though a lot of the staff members at the front desk upon check in felt very bothered and very passive when we were looking to be acknowledged for assistance during our initial
Check in process. One woman told us to “wait because she was clocking out for the day.” If you are the face of the start of someone’s hotel experience, you should have a more upbeat positive attitude. We felt slightly dismissed at times.

Also the nightclub downstairs goes until 5am and we could hear the booming of the music from our 3rd floor room. Just FYI.

The room was nice. Unfortunately we can hear everything going on outside.There were doors slamming all night and we can hear the staff have conversations right outside the door for a long period. We are charged $100 for a buffet breakfast and we’re not given the choice to look through a menu when other guests were given that option. Experience over all was ok.

This is branded as a luxury hotel but it is definitely not. The building is old, the rooms are dated, the hallways have a musty smell, the service is average at best, and the food is lacking. Check-in “begins” at 4 but you’re not guaranteed to have your room ready by then. My room wasn’t ready until 4:30.

No one to greet us on arrival, not that big of a deal but was a red herring of what was to come. Staff made an error in placing a hold on our card on arrival and so we kept having daily unexplained charges on our cc including bar and restaurant charges that were not ours. Additionally they put an extra 500$ hold on our card again even after speaking with management. Needless to say it wasn’t a relaxing stay wondering if we were going to end up paying a huge bill that wasn’t ours.
Staff was rude while dealing with this situation.
Also, for the price the beds and pillows were not comfortable. Power went out one night and then internet as well which is a bummer when we were watching a movie. Staff in general seemed uninterested in helping guests. They must pay terribly which is sad for what they are charging guests.

The first room assigned to us looked out on the rooftop mechanical equipment and ducts for the casino. We had to insist on a room change.
The bedding was great. Very good quality.
The rest of the facilities were 4 stars. The en

I will say that the hall carpeting on the guest floors needs updating. It was clean but it had a aged smell to it.

I really appreciated the complimentary meditation session with Ruth and we also really appreciated the helpfulness and service and overall niceness of our waiter, Louis or Lewis, at the Grill by the Pool. The pizza at your Italian restaurant was fantastic. Some of the best we have ever had, including in Naples.

The hotel was built in 1958 and that’s how it felt, old dated, and beat up. The grounds were just okay. The pool area ok - nothing spectacular or special about the property really. The breakfast food at Caña was nice the lunch at the pool area below average. We paid $1,000 / night for ocean view room which was large but just sooo dated. The best part of the property was the gym which felt nice with good equipment but crowded most of the day.

Overall, the feeling was that we totally overpaid for what we’ve received. Definitely not coming back.
