Super Comfort stay at the Hotel

Room is super clean. Staff is humble. Walking distance to Frankfurt HBF. Rewe and Restaurants are nearby. We enjoyed our stay and we recommend this hotel. We will definitely going to book it again when i frankfurt.

Reception was good apart from they did not know i had already paid so tried to charge me for the full stay rather ttan just city tax. Air con not woking in room and currently building works close an noisy at 7am on a Sat. Breakfast was ok room a bit cold and very quite. Area around is not good, red light district with lots of sex clubs, lots of undesirables smoking around the area.

Downtown hotel close to the Messe, so it's an easy walk if you're staying here for an expo or conference. My room felt dated and could have been in better condition. The hotel is in a rougher part of the city...didn't feel safe going out in the evenings.

Hottest room i have ever slept in. Window to the street was too noisy to keep it open. Shower over the bath is no good if you are over 6ft 1 in. Staff nice enough and location oposite station is brilliant. Very cheap for the city center. Would only stay again in winter

While it's not IN the red light district, it does seem on the border and there were an awful lot of homeless and druggies hanging around or passed out in the area, which is also quite trashed. We had a room with 2 split unit ACs, neither of which did anything other than turn on and show a green light. They definitely weren't cooling anything off. Avoid.

Stay for a tradeshow in Messe

Location is good, 5 min walk from train main station HB and 15-20 min walk to Messe. At night you see people doing drugs in that street, but there is police always around. Its is confortable stay, and breakfast delicious

Very nice hotel, clean, friendly staff and extremely good value. However it is near the red light area that seemed very rough to me. (People injecting on the street etc)
But easy to avoid as long as you don't turn left when coming out of the hotel.

That is an incredibly unsafe area, and the hotel was not great. There is an enormous amount of drug addicts right outside the door, I couldn't walk outside without them running straight up to me. The rooms are not nearly as nice as they look in the pictures and there is no air conditioning.

Would NOT stay again.

We were supposed to stay here two nights. The room we were given was next to the elevator and a cable in the elevator shaft knocked against the wall anywhere from 4 to 10 times every 10 seconds. We requested a change of rooms and were told there was nothing they could do. We asked for a manager, they were on vacation. Who is in charge when they are gone - noone. This was a non-refundable reservation. We called Hotels.com and told them of the situation. They attempted to correct the situation with the staff and received the same response. We stayed one night and checked out. Hotels.com refunded our second night.

The room size was ok, the building is older, but the bathroom smelled of mold. The area of town is not great. There were drug addicts outside the building, garbage all over the street. Not sure how it rates a 7.6.

Welcoming was great! A very kind and smiling lady welcomed me and told me that check-in was from 3.00pm, but, she would have safeguarded my belongings until that time and on if necessary.

My room was very quite and comfortable, tidy and clean, bathroom was perfect, with all the amenities needed.

The spot is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk to both the Main Train Station, the Alte Oper and several Underground station are very close!

People from the Staff were very responsive, kind and polite.

A Jewel in the Bahnhofsviertel

I go to Frankfurt at least twice a year for research at one of the museums, and have stayed at the Domicil on each trip since 2009. The Domicil has gone through several ownership changes during this time but incredibly has kept its unique and charming sensibility, including maintaining much of its historic interior and exterior architecture while updating the very comfortable rooms. The staff is friendly and accommodating without being \"corporate.\" Since I am working when in Frankfurt, I especially appreciate that Frühstück begins at 06:30.

The Bahnhofsviertel is like many business-oriented cities in Germany, with excellent and questionable blocks, so just use normal urban alertness and you'll have a true experience of Frankfurt. In addition to all types of cuisine nearby (the vegan burgers at Der Fette Bulle around the corner are my favorite), a new Tegut grocery store with many fresh and healthy foods has opened around the corner.

The hotel is very convenient to the museum district just across the pedestrian bridge to the Schaumainkai (where you can sometimes catch a street festival or the Flohmarkt) and makes a nice walking loop back across the Eiserner Steg through the old city and the shopping district. You can also catch all the public transportation (trams, buses and the U- and S-Bahn) and of course it is just steps back to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof.

I truly appreciate the personality and convenience of the Domicil and look forward to my next visit.

Cute hotel w/ Extremely friendly staff. Minimalistic rooms- and some with NO AIRCONDITIONING! Five minute walk from north side of train station. Easy to get to. Exit the hotel one way, and all is well. Exit the other way, to the left, and you find yourself close to a street with homeless people. Great looking breakfast buffet for 23 Euros. Tiny elevator to top floors.

To start, the staff were all incredibly helpful and really went the extra mile to accommodate everything we wanted. Faultless. The hotel itself was fairly basic, but perfectly suitable - great value for money. The area was on the fringe of of the casino / red light district, but this can easily be avoided if you wanted so it shouldn't be a deterrent. Would definitely use this facility again.

The room is good size, staff are friendly. The location is very convenient, it is very close to the main train station and easy walk to the shopping and eating area. However, there are some drunkies and druggies in the area. The breakfast area is nice but not too many items to choose. The room rate is reasonable. The room doesn't have air conditioning, we stayed in the 3rd week of September, it was not too hot at night but we had to turn on the fan in the room and open the windows.

A good hotel despite the iffy area.

Well, the area is pretty bad, but that is not the fault of the hotel. The things that are in their control are very well handled. Clean, spacious rooms, friendly helpful staff, and a plentiful breakfast with good quality food. A short stay, but I was very pleased. If I need to stay in downtown Frankfurt near the train station again, I would certainly stay at this hotel happily.

The staff was very stand-offish. The hotel is in a very bad area. I walked here from the DB train/bus station because it was so close. That's why I got it. If you're a woman take a taxi here, there's drunks, crackheads and vandals on every side of the street starting from the train station to the street up to the hotel. The night I was there, I left my room to go get some food and drinks and there was a prostitute trying to get water from staff and trying to steal the candies on the desk and the staff was practically wrestling with her to get out. This is definitely not a family hotel. That's the only reason I'm writing this review, to steer families away from here. If you're a tall, big single male like I am then do whatever. The pictures are misleading, the rooms are super small. The elevator was something out of a horror story, there's room for literally 1-2 people inside the elevator and not a single person more. What really bugged me was the \"tourist fee\" which was 2 Euros which they get you with when you check out. I felt it was cheap, tacky, rude and unfriendly. Why charge someone a hidden fee when they check out? Needless to say, the next time I am in Frankfurt, I will definitely not be going to this hotel.

Convenient hotel at central location

I stayed in economy single room. The room was small but convenient and clean. It overlooked busy street, but window soundproofing was very good. Shower was great, bed was comfortable and Wifi was excellent. There is no air conditioning, and although the weather was hot, you can open the window and use provided fan to pump colder air inside in the evening. Window shades were proper and you can make the room dark if that's important to you.
There were no junkies around the hotel entrance.

A comfortable room in an unpleasant neighborhood

My room at the Hotel Domicil was small but good, clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was good too (typical German breakfast buffet) but you had to pay a extra. There were, however, two negative aspects to my stay. First, while it's very close to the train station, the neighborhood is quite shady, especially for Germany (the sidewalks smell of urine, the denizens make you guard your wallet, and sex shops abound). Second, the wifi was not working when I arrived, and when I asked about it at the front desk, the lady was completely unhelpful, saying that on rare occasions, people had devices that didn't work with the hotel wifi. She persisted in blaming my device and saying there was nothing to be done, even though I told her that I'd tried two completely different, very common devices (an Apple laptop and a Samsung smartphone) and neither worked. While the lack of wifi was inconvenient (I'd planned to use it to check in for my flight early to get a good seat, and to Skype with my family since I didn't have a phone plan that worked in Europe), what really got me was the senseless attitude of the lady, which gave me the impression that the wifi was just a scam. It turns out she was just clueless: when I got back to the hotel after dinner, the wifi was working fine on both devices. If she'd just agreed to my request that she check into it (maybe with her own device) and found that the ISP was temporarily down or something, that would have been fine.

Great Hotel close to main rail station

Needed a Hotel close to main rail station. This was a perfect 4 minute walk, but the Hotel proved to be charming in all respects. Rooms not large, but very comfortable and clean. All staff very helpful and enjoyable breakfast open from 6.30, but had ours earlier due to a train to catch. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Change in chains very noticeable

I have been staying at this hotel for years, during which time it was operated under the Best Western brand. Unfortunately Favored Hotels is not delivering the same level of competency. Essentially this is a very nice hotel; a great deal for people who are familiar with Frankfurt and need to easily get from point A to point B and back to the Hauptbahnhof. The hotel had the bonus of serving a fantastic breakfast, had a wonderful staff, and the building was well-cared for. Unfortunately only the nice staff remains, which cannot be blamed upon them. During this visit there was no hot water for hours at a time – and not this was not a Durchheizenwasser operator error – , access problems with the electronic entry system, and the breakfast bar was beyond sparse – serving day-old breads, etc. with virtually empty jam and honey jars, no nut butters or Nutella, lox replaced with a dab of salmon spread, and so on. It's still convenient but comparably for 12€ you can walk a block to Moselstr. and get a full meal with coffee and juice for 8-10€. I go to Frankfurt often and I would really hate not to be able to stay at the Domicil. I will give it one more try for old time's sake and see what happens.

Everything was in order. The room was a bit warm, but other than that, I have no negative impressions. The walk to the train station with luggage is a bit longer than some hotels in the area, but I've stayed at several others, and the improvements in the room itself were probably worth it. Very convenient way to get a good night's sleep and have EASY access to the trains headed for the Flughaven.

Nice location, great for business travellers

The hotel has a good location being close to central train station and the comfort of connections that it provides. The staff is nice and courteous. The linen is clean and was changed in the bathroom everyday during my stay. The rooms are small and a little tight. Free wifi is great for biz travellers like me. Zeil market i about 15 minutes by walk and most people wont mind that, I feel. I didnt visit the restaurant, so wont comment on that. Rewe store nearby helps you buy nitty gritties.

Terrible hotel in probably the worst part of Frankfurt. Drunks, beggars and filth everywhere. The room was too small. We had to ask for milk and tea and kettle and yet this should be standard! On our second day we asked for milk and the milk was out of date. Left the tea- with curdled milk in the room hoping room service will see this and report, but no, came back to the room in the evening and the tea still there! They had not even bothered to throw it away. Its noisy and doors banging in the morning. Room service constantly knocking on the door when we have said no to them as we wanted to rest at least and at one point just opened the door! Staff were nice, there was only one rude staff who was on duty Saturday morning when we asked for the milk! No wonder she gave us stale milk. Other staff were extremely nice, shame about the hotel they are working at.
On checking out, they charged us items we had not even used! and the bottle of water which is the only thing we had from the complimentary bar was 2 euro 80 cents!
Would not recommend and thank God I have no plans to go back there again!

I was in Frankfurt on business and in Germany for the first time. Checking into the hotel was simple and breakfast each day, although expensive, was good. The free wifi isn't the best, but it works for the most part. My complaints are really limited to the overall noise in the hotel and the occasional smell of cigarettes. You can hear everything in the hallways: voices, doors slamming, housekeeping at strange hours, etc. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to consider staying elsewhere. The location is good - as it is very close to the train station. The overall feel of the surrounding neighborhood is not overly safe -- lots of homeless people, but the hotel appears quite secure.

Good Hotel, Bad Location

I had a one-night stay in this comfy hotel in good condition, close to the station and a short walk to the Old Town. The room was pleasantly quiet (except during work hours due to building work behind the hotel). The area is dodgy though... I don't mind walking through the 'red light district' to and from the hotel - the problem is the congregating of groups of people showing signs of substance abuse, and the smell of urine. However, I wasn't approached by anyone so didn't feel threatened - just uncomfortable. This is a quality hotel with good value for money. However, perhaps not great for those of a nervous disposition due to the area.

The hotel is in a very accesible location in the city center. 5 minutes fro the central station, and very close to the other business district.

Rooms were clean but just very small.

The neighboehood around the corner wasn't very clean due to many clubs and bars.

Good hotel for the price for someone going for business purposes whi needs accesibility.

It is very well located,just a few block from the main train station what makes easy arriving from the airport, Bus top to go to downtown , the mall and old city is just a few block far away, rooms are comfortable. Staff is very polite and helpful. We did not use the restaurant so can not comment about food. Small refrigerator a good provision.

Internet wifi is provided use your own equipment, the computer available in the reception is old and does not work fine.
The street behind is a little busy at night, but that is not an inconvenient. another good thing is that the supermarket is just a block away convenient to buy refreshments and chips.

This hotel looks like its either very new or very well keep. The room , entrance etc was spotless. Very Clean
As with most rooms in Frankfurt the room is the size of a closet in the US, but if you want to stay near the train station or the fair they all the same size. Be very careful where you walk as its on the edge of the red light district and had a lot of drug user around the corner from the hotel. Its also very ez to get to from the airport. I would stay there again, as I have been to Frankfurt many times before For the price it was an excellent room

The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful but vague. They did not tell us there was a charge for breakfast in the morning. It was implied that it was included, but in actuality breakfast cost $14.00 per person/per day. It was definitely NOT worth the cost. Additionally, there was no air conditioning and it was sweltering hot outside. The hotel was relatively clean and was very close to the train station and many restaurants.

Nice Hotel in a Central Location

Hotel staff was extremely friendly. I came here with my girlfriend to see a concert over the weekend. The staff were very accommodating; they made us two cups of tea right from the desk upon request (free of charge), and allowed us to sleep in the last day and check-out an hour early. The room was clean, a little small, but overall great.

Good Location

Was looking for an affordable place close to the train station to spend lay-over time in Frankfurt city. Nothing special around the area but convinient. The hotel room was very small (nothing for a week stay with 2 people), but clean and had everything one needed. Staff was super friendly. Small elevator - don't bring a giant suitcase :-)

The hotel is bit old but everything is in a good condition. The anti noise measure is not so good, you can hear the conversation in the floor corridor clearly while in the room.

Nice Close to the AlteOPE

Its a good hotel comfortable The breakfast is high recommended in a very nice restaurant. They give you a good coffee in the morning. You can have internet in the room
Is very near to the main train station and is very near to a street with very good accessibility to buses
There is a \"red\" neighborhood near to the hotel by they advice you for not to walk in this area.

its a nice hotel
across from main train station which is always good
in the middle of red light district
but staff was amazing
they don't have smoking rooms but they made me one lol
price was dirt cheap but hotel was amazing

Decent for what you pay

Cheap prices so you shouldn't expect much. No air condition in the room. Rooms are small. I stayed there to rest during my layover and it was relatively close to Frankfurt's main tourist attraction (the roemer, about a 20 mins walk).

Good hotel

While other reviewers expressed concerns about the location, it is safe and close to the train station and financial district. If you walk on the big streets, you won't even feel like you are in the \"red light district\". The room is clean and the hotel itself if well kept. The only thing concern was the small elevator, but I guess that is the norm for Europe.

This hotel is in a great location. 3 minutes to the Central train station Hauptbahanoff which got us to the Tram 11 or all trains to every Frankfurt destination. Just down the street 2 minutes away is a convenient grocery store. Hotel reception clerks were quite friendly, even when we came back late at night 4 in the morning and had to be buzzed in because the doors are locked. They always greeted us with a smile. Breakfast is too expensive there for 14 euros for what you get. But the dining room was nice. Rooms are small and dorm sized but pretty decent to be paying $65 cdn a night for it's location. No wasted space, very functional rooms and comes with a fridge. Recent renovations so the rooms are clean and modern. Got much more from this room than one we paid for $88 when we changed hotels. Had too because Messe was happening and our hotel price jumped to $160 with some nights not available. Hotel is around the corner from the RLD which is open until late at night. So if you wanted to get something to eat, it's easy to find pizza and donair kebabs. Overall I'd stay here again.

Handy location

Well located just a short walk from the main train station, the hotel was handy. It's about a 10 minute walk into the city centre and a 30 minute walk from the night life of Saxenhousen. It's fairly basic but clean, warm and comfortable.
Be warned, you are fairly close to the red light area, which is handy if that's why you're there but not great if you've gone for a romantic weekend with the wife!!

Good Hotel with AC! Surrounding Area-BAD!

I love Germany! And when I travel there I am always going to have a good time, however-this hotel was good, very good..but if you don't know Frankfurt, you will be disappointed. This hotel is on the outskirts of the Red Light District and you have to deal with suspicious people as you walk to the hotel. I am a woman who travels a lot, sometimes alone and this is something you may not want to deal with if you are traveling alone and are a woman. The great part about this hotel is that it is just minutes..less than a 5 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof Frankfurt Am Main.

Great!

We stayed overnight here for an early morning flight out of Frankfurt Airport. The staff was incredibly friendly and polite, even mailing letters for us. Well within walking distance to the train station and only a 3-4 euro train ticket back to the Airport. I will definitely recommend this to anyone traveling and will probably be back!

Will not return.

Hotel is a bit pricey. It is in a mixed neighborhood near the train station. It borders high-rise glass buildings on one side and smut shops on the other. At 9pm, jackhammers started below our windows and continued for hours. Breakfast is not included, is expensive, and is nothing special. There are no coffee shop alternatives close by.
