Nightly entertainment would be better if we could understand all of what was being said. But still had a wonderful time. LOVED IT!!

Had a nice family vacation with the kids. Highly recommend Premium level when booking. We also did a couples massage and the kids enjoyed the game room, shows, and activities on the beach with the Barcy kids club. We also did snorkeling and cliff diving, and enjoyed time on a private beach thanks to the locals on the boat.

Pros: The resort (room) werr really clean and well maintained. The view of the beach (sunset) was beautiful and the view of the green mountains. The daily night live shows are a very nice touch. The daily pool side activities for adults and kids were fun, the staff were nice and helpful. The kid pool plus the slide was fun for my 6 year old. She definitely enjoyed it.

Cons: very far out from airport (45-50 ish mins) and malecon (20-25ish mins), Pool bar/ music/ pool waterfall and kid slide water turns off at 6 (technically 10 minutes before), if you want to keep enjoying the pool after the pool bar closes down you have to be pat dry (not dripping water) or the inside bar will tell you to go out and get dry, my husband got food poisoning on the last night there (ceviche).

Overall not a bad stay but i will definitely seek closer resort.

We loved the kids club! Carlos was amazing and kind. The view was wonderful and the beach access was great. Staff was helpful when it came to transportation. The front desk seemed to be confused multiple times. Maybe it was a mix up between Expedia and their booking system, but I did not find the front desk to be very helpful. The food was ok. For an all inclusive resort, it could have been much better. My kids were slightly upset that they were not allowed in the hot tub AT ALL even with an adult in there with them. Having a giant pool with hot tub for adults only and then a separate pool with a hot tub that kids still aren't allowed to use was slightly ridiculous. It wasn't even that warm. Staff did try to accommodate my broken Spanish, so I was happy with that. Would still recommend, but expect mediocre food and small amenities.

This review is hard to write. This hotel had some amazing things about it and some not so amazing things. Let’s start off with the good- I love the resort is small. We went with a big group of people, and we could always find each other. The beach is amazing. The jungle view is stunning. Having a two bedroom and two bathroom unit with children is hard to beat. There were so many activities and programming for the kids. The swim up bar was a blast and the shows in the evening were fabulous. Buttttt the food was not so great. They only allowed six people per reservation and we had a group of over 20. I will say that they did a great job accommodating us, but it seems silly when the restaurant is half empty that they couldn’t just take us all at the same time. The food wasn’t the best although it wasn’t the worst. There were some things that were good especially the ice cream and ice cream cones. Two big complaints- they started to play loud music at the outside bar at 10:30pm at night until after 11 PM and it woke us up multiple nights. Also quite a bit of our group got sick. I don’t think it was food poisoning. I have a feeling it was something to do with the water. Overall, we had an amazing time and have a memorable trip!

We have been to Barceló twice and each time is phenomenal. The staff is so attentive and goes above and beyond. The bartenders are amazing and this place is a lot of fun for an adults only or family trip. This resort is about 20 minutes south of the romantic zone. This resort does not have tons of in-house entertainment BUT it is so budget friendly that you’ll can and SHOULD go into town and explore, and book with Vallarta Adventures, or other local excursions. Despite what others say, the food is pretty good for an all inclusive and the dinner buffet menu changes each night to different themed food. Book a trip here!

I am being generous giving them 2 stars. Truthfully the second star is for the few smiling faces we were met with on our 1 week stay. The rooms are clean and the overall hotel is nice but for it being a “all inclusive resort” they truly lack on alot of things. After 11:30 there is no where to grab a quick snack everything shuts down. The food selection is very limited to mostly popular vallarta dishes. There at 3 additional restaurants that you must make a reservation for but they are first come for serve and they are closed on certain days. Secondly most of the staff is rude aren’t very helpful. You can relax by the adults only pool but you’ll have to wait for someone to walk by before you can get a drink or go to the other pool where the swim up bar is. They have an arcade room that you have to pay to use. 1 hour play on pool table will cost you $100 pesos. We had several waiters at the buffet that were great, as well as the waiter at the steak house.The late night shows are great!But most pleasant experience was getting off the resort into an uber and into the city. If you are looking to relax and enjoy yourself this wouldn’t never be my first choice.We wanted a change away from Cancun for our honey moon and unfortunately wasn’t great but we made the most of it!

A Complete Disaster: The Worst Resort in Six Trips to Puerto Vallarta
I have traveled to Puerto Vallarta six times, and my recent stay at the Barceló was without a doubt the worst all-inclusive experience I have ever had. The entire trip was a disaster, driven by severe facility issues and an incredibly unfriendly management team.

Let's face it; the pictures online are 20 years old at least!
The state of the hotel was shocking, plagued by multiple water leaks throughout the property. The most egregious leak was right next to the food in the buffet area; rather than properly fixing the issue, the staff simply laid out towels on the floor to soak up the mess. The hazards continued beyond the dining hall, with other active leaks causing standing water in the corridors on the way to my room.
Furthermore, the beach—advertised as a private, swimmable area—was entirely unusable. There were at least 25 boats parked directly in the water where guests are supposed to swim. Having an obstacle course of boats in a designated swimming zone is completely unacceptable.
When I brought these issues to management, they were entirely dismissive. The situation was so unbearable that I cut my losses and paid an additional $1,000 out of pocket to switch to the Hilton Vallarta—a far superior property with a staff that cares.
Save your money and your peace of mind. Avoid the Barceló at all costs.

If you are looking for a nice resort with beach front access i recommend the Barcelo. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. They treat you like royalty. Only down side is it’s about 20 mins from town, so you need to get a lot of taxi’s to go back and forth, but if you are looking to just stay there and relax it is amazing. They have everything you will need.

Great staff and a very nice place to stay! It feels cut off from the city which is a big plus if you want some peace but it does make me coloring a little different.
The staff are super helpful and great in both English and Spanish.
One night we felt a little under the weather and the staff went out of their way to make sure we got our food fast and without a fuss.

The resort was updated; the restaurants were great; the activities staff, Denise and Maria, were great; very enthusiastic and friendly; the shows were entertaining. There was only one bar where many people gathered after the shows; not enough seating.
My only complaint is on the day we left the resort, we hired a private driver to take us to the airport. Upon exiting the resort gate, but while still on the property, our driver was stopped by a taxi driver. He asked our driver for the 'permit,' and then said it wasn't valid because it didn't have a stamp. He wanted our driver to pay him money; apparently this is common practice as the taxi drivers lose money when outside companies are used and they expect the private companies to pay them the money lost. The taxi driver told our driver, he would be followed and then summoned another driver that was nearby to follow us. We were followed for an extended time. At one point, our driver pulled to the side of the road to talk to the person that was following us, offered him money, which he refused, as it wasn't the amount he wanted. We continued to be followed until our driver took a different route to lose the taxi driver. We felt very unsafe during this ordeal. This is something the hotel staff must be aware of and my question is, why do they allow it? Why don't they have security outside to prevent this from happening. As a result, I will not be returning to this resort.

We were very disappointed with our visit. We choose a suite which allowed us to have premium service. No one explained to us what that entailed. We were directed to a separate area to eat upgraded drinks and we could eat there. The people serving in that area were rude and did not help in anyway when we asked about premium service.We were not allowed to take any drinks with us unless in a paper cup that leaked within 10 minutes. No one told us we could book the restaurants in that lounge even though we booked through the lobby desks and the person there could have let us know when she saw our bracelet. Our room closet was so moldy we had to throw away clothes that were in there for the 10 days we stayed. We called room service to ask if they could sell us or bring us some dish soap so we could wash my grandson’s bottles, we went through 4 different departments and received hot water and tea. We do know limited Spanish but it was not uncommon to try to talk staff at the hotel, including front desk staff and they did not have a clue what we were saying. We have stayed at other Barcelo properties but never had premium service and we were very disappointed when we returned home and talked to our friends that had the service before and they told us all the perks it included. I don’t know if we will book another Barcelo after this experience. We have been to Mexico many times and never had such poor service.

Fun pools. My kids loved the little pool with the slide. The rooms are big but a little outdated. Staff was overall good. The main issue is the food. It is terrible and we ate out sometimes to avoid the food. No poolside snacks which is hard with little kids/ it’s nice to sit on your lounge chair and be able to order food. The pool drinks were good and the bartenders were really nice. We had a nice time but the food is a major issue.

State it’s all inclusive but they only allow you to visit one specialty restaurant do every 2 days you stayed. Also had an issues with Expedia. We had originally booked a direct flight. That was supposed to be 3 hours. They switch our flights double our travel time and had lay overs there and back. To make things worse when we arrived at the airport delta rep said expidea had forgot to rebook our flights. So the had to rebook us later flights. Thank god they had those flights available. We might have not made it if it wasn’t for the delta rep.

The pools were amazing. Pool, restaurant, and upper level staff were amazing. Experience was 4 of 5 at best due to water leak in room that truly was patched twice and not really given the attention it needed. It was coming from inside the access panel (Room 1417) above the sink in the bathroom with a bunch of electrical wiring inside of it and mold. Maintenance staff attempted to fix it twice with electrical tape and towels to absorb but the leak got worse and worse. Obviously not a repair just a bandaid that got worse. Maintenance left mold and torn off tape on floor and left saying it was fixed…twice. Once Monica became involved we were relocated for the remainder of our vacation. First two night = 1 star. Remainder of our stay = 5 . Moises, Octavio, Alejandra, Oscar and VIP representative were the greatest of staff. Thank you to all of them! Definitely would go back again given there were no issues. Beautiful resort. Great food and staff other than a few front desk employees.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and attentive. The view was beautiful. Our snorkel trip departed right from the hotel which was a wonderful perk. We were a ten minute uber drive from zona romántica. Which was great for days where we felt like venturing off. I wasn’t a huge fan of the buffet meals. They were okay, we enjoyed breakfast the most. Depending on how long you stayed you were given a voucher to eat at one of their restaurants located on the premises. Those dinner were delicious. Those dinners were booked by reservation only. We ended up going into town for lunch and dinner when we didn’t have a reservation booked. The location of Bercelo’s was the biggest bonus for us. It was about 45min from the airport, close enough to the tourist area but far enough to feel like your a bit secluded. This resort is family friendly but they have separate pools for adults and families. So you can enjoy a quieter pool or join the fun at the family pool. I used the gym once, it was a bit out dated but worked well for what I needed to do. There was a kids room and a kids arcade. I noticed every day they had an activity set up for the kids in the plaza. The hotel is right on the beach so you can enjoy the pool or the beach beds. Overall it was a wonderful experience. There are so many activities at the resort and nearby that you can book for a reasonable price. We will be returning with our children next time.

To be honest I was super excited to stay at this place,for the price we paid I was expecting better quality in everything, but the his was my worst experience of all, but for others to know if you are looking for a place with fun activities this is not the place, the place is nice but has almost nothing to do, you can’t get in the beach, the waves are to strong and deep, you can’t even go for a walk there is no place to walk, the pictures lied it’s not what it looks like, the entertainment is very limited, all the staff at this resort looks so stressed out 😰 they barely smile at the tourists, at the buffet they will brake glasses or plates every day, we were a group of 4 and we had been to so many other places and this environment was the worse, we felt like the whole management of the property is wrong, we couldn’t wait to get out of this place, I don’t recommend this place, unless you just want to eat very bad food and sleep two of us got sick because in several occasions we felt we had a bad bite of food.

Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this resort.

The food was good, with the seafood being a standout. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, though the music felt a bit too calm—almost like being in a spa.

The room was clean and well-maintained, and housekeeping did an excellent job keeping it fresh every day.

Amenities were excellent, especially the pool area, which we really enjoyed. Service throughout the resort was great, and a special mention to Moses, the poolside server—he was very attentive and made our experience even better.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely come back.

Our room was in between two rooms that were being renovated. Unfortunately we heard pounding, sawing etc at all times of the day. We also had a strong paint odor coming into our room. We alerted to the front desk but it continued anyway. No naps for us.
There was also hair on the soap dispensers in the shower when we first arrived and it remained there the entire time so the cleanings in between weren’t very thorough. The food was the same variety every day and it lacked flavor.
Aside from that, the grounds were beautiful and all of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Eve with the issues we had it was still a nice vacation. We stayed for 7 days

Although we like it we will probably not be back. The bug bites on the back of my legs can make for a few miserable days. I know the resort sprays and try’s to control this but it is just part of being near the jungle.

But not what expedia says.
does not have valet parking ? you have self park. Buffet sucked so bad i wanted to move hotels? and apparently for every 2 days you stay you can only have dinner in 1 of 3 restaurants.
terrible terrible buffet food. only 1 bar open nightly. Nothing matched what expedia explained.

The Barcelo resort is beautiful and well maintained. The pools are in good condition and offer various water features such as waterfalls and a slide for kids. The rooms, grounds and entertainment are very good. Clean and everything in working order. The only area that needs improvement I would say is the food. I would rate most of the dishes as average which falls somewhat short since the property, staff and rooms are well above average.

The staff was amazing, the resort was always super clean, and I relaxed the whole time. The worst part of this resort was that the family pool had a swim up bar full of drunk adults, meanwhile the \"adult only\" pool looked a lot more Family friendly. The food was disappointing, aside from there diner by reservation at the Japanese themed restaurant.

Barcelo is such an amazing place to stay. Everything from rooms to food and service is 100 percent on point and more. This is the best place I've stayed at so far. They have everything to deliver a wonderful vacation time to customers. The beach is beautiful in this area. I'll definitely be back as much as I can. Barcelo is such a paradise. I recommend 1000 percent.

All the restraints that you needed to make reservations for, the food was excellent. The buffet was good. The rooms were spacious and clean, comfortable, fridge was restocked every day with soda and beer. The pools are massive and there’s lots of seating. Once you have your chair at the pool it’s yours, 8am-8pm. No removing your towel if you want to leave for any reason, just be respectful and don’t put your stuff down and be gone for 6 hours. Added bonus that we didn’t even know about. They have an adults only pool.👍Lots of shad or sun beautiful waterfalls. It’s just beautiful. Entertainment every night. Restraints open till 10:30 and bars till 1am with snacks. It’s just everything you want from an all inclusive. A room with premium, definitely has its perks.

The property is pretty small and outdated. Specialty restaurants are very small. In order to book a reservation for a specialty restaurant you have to go to the lobby and line up before the booking staff arrive in order to be able to get a spot. We traveled as a big group and we were never able to get a reservation for the whole group in any of the specialty restaurants at any time despite being one of the first people booking. Food quality is very poor. I will not be going back.

The pool facilities were top notch. Never felt too crowded anywhere we went on the property. Food was good and restaurant options were great. Would come again for sure.
