We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and attentive. The view was beautiful. Our snorkel trip departed right from the hotel which was a wonderful perk. We were a ten minute uber drive from zona romántica. Which was great for days where we felt like venturing off. I wasn’t a huge fan of the buffet meals. They were okay, we enjoyed breakfast the most. Depending on how long you stayed you were given a voucher to eat at one of their restaurants located on the premises. Those dinner were delicious. Those dinners were booked by reservation only. We ended up going into town for lunch and dinner when we didn’t have a reservation booked. The location of Bercelo’s was the biggest bonus for us. It was about 45min from the airport, close enough to the tourist area but far enough to feel like your a bit secluded. This resort is family friendly but they have separate pools for adults and families. So you can enjoy a quieter pool or join the fun at the family pool. I used the gym once, it was a bit out dated but worked well for what I needed to do. There was a kids room and a kids arcade. I noticed every day they had an activity set up for the kids in the plaza. The hotel is right on the beach so you can enjoy the pool or the beach beds. Overall it was a wonderful experience. There are so many activities at the resort and nearby that you can book for a reasonable price. We will be returning with our children next time.

To be honest I was super excited to stay at this place,for the price we paid I was expecting better quality in everything, but the his was my worst experience of all, but for others to know if you are looking for a place with fun activities this is not the place, the place is nice but has almost nothing to do, you can’t get in the beach, the waves are to strong and deep, you can’t even go for a walk there is no place to walk, the pictures lied it’s not what it looks like, the entertainment is very limited, all the staff at this resort looks so stressed out 😰 they barely smile at the tourists, at the buffet they will brake glasses or plates every day, we were a group of 4 and we had been to so many other places and this environment was the worse, we felt like the whole management of the property is wrong, we couldn’t wait to get out of this place, I don’t recommend this place, unless you just want to eat very bad food and sleep two of us got sick because in several occasions we felt we had a bad bite of food.

Beautiful location, pools and rooms. Staff are top tier, very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing resort. Far enough away from PV to be away but close enough to get into town.

Amenities lack a bit, game room is tucked away and costs extra money. The food is average and not the best. Even at the restaurants. Always could find something to eat while at resort but ended up leaving for a nice meal.

we had an amazing time at barcelo for a week. it was a great location if you want a bit of quiet, and good for sunsets!! i recommend bringing shampoo and conditioner though, as the shampoo isn’t the best and there is not conditioner in the suites. the room size was huge which we were pleasantly surprised by! lots of pool area, beach access and nice walks along the beach in both directions. i would stay there again!

Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this resort.

The food was good, with the seafood being a standout. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, though the music felt a bit too calm—almost like being in a spa.

The room was clean and well-maintained, and housekeeping did an excellent job keeping it fresh every day.

Amenities were excellent, especially the pool area, which we really enjoyed. Service throughout the resort was great, and a special mention to Moses, the poolside server—he was very attentive and made our experience even better.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely come back.

Our room was in between two rooms that were being renovated. Unfortunately we heard pounding, sawing etc at all times of the day. We also had a strong paint odor coming into our room. We alerted to the front desk but it continued anyway. No naps for us.
There was also hair on the soap dispensers in the shower when we first arrived and it remained there the entire time so the cleanings in between weren’t very thorough. The food was the same variety every day and it lacked flavor.
Aside from that, the grounds were beautiful and all of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Eve with the issues we had it was still a nice vacation. We stayed for 7 days

We love the large rooms. Adult pool was very relaxing. Staff was vermin snd helpful. Food was ok, not exceptional but typical all inclusive. This was our third time staying here. Although we like it we will probably not be back. The bug bites on the back of my legs can make for a few miserable days. I know the resort sprays and try’s to control this but it is just part of being near the jungle.

The Barcelo resort is beautiful and well maintained. The pools are in good condition and offer various water features such as waterfalls and a slide for kids. The rooms, grounds and entertainment are very good. Clean and everything in working order. The only area that needs improvement I would say is the food. I would rate most of the dishes as average which falls somewhat short since the property, staff and rooms are well above average.

The staff was amazing, the resort was always super clean, and I relaxed the whole time. The worst part of this resort was that the family pool had a swim up bar full of drunk adults, meanwhile the \"adult only\" pool looked a lot more Family friendly. The food was disappointing, aside from there diner by reservation at the Japanese themed restaurant.

Barcelo is such an amazing place to stay. Everything from rooms to food and service is 100 percent on point and more. This is the best place I've stayed at so far. All the restraints that you needed to make reservations for, the food was excellent. The buffet was good. The rooms were spacious and clean, comfortable, fridge was restocked every day with soda and beer. The pools are massive and there’s lots of seating. Once you have your chair at the pool it’s yours, 8am-8pm. No removing your towel if you want to leave for any reason, just be respectful and don’t put your stuff down and be gone for 6 hours. Added bonus that we didn’t even know about. They have an adults only pool.👍Lots of shad or sun beautiful waterfalls. It’s just beautiful. Entertainment every night. Restraints open till 10:30 and bars till 1am with snacks. It’s just everything you want from an all inclusive. A room with premium, definitely has its perks.

The property is pretty small and outdated. Specialty restaurants are very small. In order to book a reservation for a specialty restaurant you have to go to the lobby and line up before the booking staff arrive in order to be able to get a spot. We traveled as a big group and we were never able to get a reservation for the whole group in any of the specialty restaurants at any time despite being one of the first people booking. Food quality is very poor. I will not be going back.

Beautiful resort on an even better beach! Loved being able to walk steps to the beach and feel comfortable swimming in the nice clean and cool ocean. Take a little walk on the beach, head to the left and the very last massage spot (by the arch walkway) is a must! Puerto Vallarta is a lovely place with wonderful people. Nothing to fear at all!!

Loved the area around resort. Missoula is beautiful. Palm trees and jungle all the way up to beach and rocky shore. Beach area plenty of sand, very clean water does get deep quickly wading out. Very secluded, not many other bars, venues around you. Love the property.

Lush, mature landscaping all around the pools. Adult, sports, family and kid pools. Pools were great, service pool side at adult pool were great. You can order whatever you want as long as your are specific about brand names.

Beer and wine lists are limited as well as mini bar choices, but they are stocked daily. We chose premium level and for not much extra we were beach front with very large 1 bedroom suite with dining room, family room, wrap around balcony. Well worth the money. Premium level lounge was disappointing. Should be on a rooftop looking out over the water. It’s tucked away in a corner, no view, never anyone in there.

Overall food was disappointing in premium lounge, mini bar fridge, Los Marcos. Buffet was great daily, you learn to pick what you like, there are many choices. Don Quixote was best restaurant.

We will definitely go back but going into downtown for goods and bars is a must. Great 30 minute drive.

Wish I would have done a little more research. The view was great. We were offered to upgrade to premium and did. Very glad we did.

It's true about little mosquitoes (jejenes) bring bug spray or take use the spray they offer.

The one bathroom next to event center always had a bad odor. As I seen others had mentioned.

Food was unique as it usually seems to be. Which is fine and to be expected in my opinion.

To far away from marina for us to take advantage of excursions that leave from there.

All and all, I don't regret it, but probably won't go back.

Yes I believe we had one of the nicest rooms we were on the fourth floor our deck was beautiful because it had glass across the front where you could see the pool if you could see the restaurant and you can see out into the ocean and one night we could see the whales off the point and it's so beautiful to listen to the waves crash in the evening when you tried to go to sleep and have the door cracked I couldn't have asked for a better room they were also roomy the beds were very comfortable and the linens were very soft

Building and grounds were well taken care of and the rooms were clean and modern. We got updated to a lovely two bedroom suite and loved the view and outdoor pools! Staff were friendly and felt safe the entire week. Beaches and excursions were great and food was as expected. Could have stepped it up for specialty dinner reservations such as Italian night but overall great experience overall. Will definitely be visiting again!

I am just going to give this hotel an across the board score of terrible because they were unwilling to refund our money or give us a credit. The dates of our stay was just days after the unrest due to the killing of the drug cartel leader. The area was a level 3 travel advisory. Cruise ships made the decision not to stop in that port. Airlines were still flying and hotels were open but of course they were, they just want to make money. They don't care about the safety of their travelers. United airlines was willing to give us an airline credit but we lost a lot of money on the hotel. I think this was a very bad PR move on behalf of the hotel. Because now no longer will we never give them our business but we will tell our friends and family about our bad experience. When we learned we were not going to get a refund we tried to gift our stay to someone else. No one was willing to take a free stay in Puerto Vallarta. So we went somewhere else but kept our reservation at the hotel. Since we were not going to get our money back anyway, we at least wanted to prevent the hotel from booking it to someone else and earning double money on it.

The hotel is a little older but well maintained. Every room has a partial ocean view and it is a beautiful view! Its about an hour drive from the airport but well worth it. The area is private and quiet. Its right by the jungle and all the excursions are a short walk, bus, or boat ride away.

Beautiful Resort. Staff was so welcoming. Fernando in the LaCatina bar was super. As was out wait staff around the pool. Ralph and Kevin arrange a wonderful whale viewing trip! After the people the facility was great. BIG rooms. Comfortable beds. Views from the front and back of the rooms were amazing. Food and drinks were very good. The ala carte restaurants were very good and it was nice not having to play the reservation game. Pools were heated and warm. First time I have had jacuzzi pools that were really hot. The grounds are amazing with much greenery. The area definitely is away from PV. About a 25 minute drive. But that is part of the charm. Beach does not compare to the ones in Cancun but the water was much calmer. But the focus of this resort is definitely the pools. I have been to Mexico many times in many locations. This place easily moves to number to on my list. I definitely will consider returning. Any issues about safety as well were quickly lost in the feel of the resort and PV!

This hotel is on a small bay about 45 minutes from the airport. The bay is filled with many boats so is not as beautiful of a view as other resorts I have stayed at and doesn’t feel welcoming to swim with so many boats in the bay very close to the shoreline. The buffet for dinner was closed every night so only al carte option with long wait times, and no reso option only FCFS. Very Americanized food options and minimal authentic Mexican food at the property. However the property is very well maintained, very clean and modern for a Mexico resort, good drink options, excellent spacious rooms, great clean large pools with a swim up bar. Overall if you’re not too much of an ocean person it’s a good choice!

We upgraded to an ocean front view when we arrived. Staff were absolutely amazing and so very accommodating.
Food was delicious. We stayed for one week and the food was great every time.
The resort itself was clean and staff remained on top of clearing out plates as needed.
Towels were always readily available. Because we travelled during commotion the resort was not as busy as it would normally be at this time. We loved the experience and were told that if it had been during normal times then it would be a lot busier which was good to know.
They have shows every night at 9pm. We attended two of them and were blown away. The staff are incredibly talented and you can tell they truly enjoy their work. It was amazing and I cannot stress enough how everyone should attend!!

We spent 6 wonderful days at Barceló and were so sad to leave. We will definitely be back. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. We especially appreciated the waiter Moises for his great service, and the entire entertainment team with Anahi (we loved the guacamole making class) and Fernando, who brought great energy with his dancing and poolside fun. Our biggest standout was Carlos at the Kids Club, with his infinite energy! He and his team made our kids comfortable and excited every day. We did not expect to use the kids club, but our kids loved it so much they kept asking to go back. Our 5 year old enjoyed crafts, painting, musical chairs, and face painting. Both kids loved piñata making, the Mario Kart tournament, and evening activities like the Mexican party with candy.
The beach was beautiful, and one day we even saw a humpback whale breach five times in the bay. We went whale watching with the Jack Sparrow tour company at the hotel and the crew was fantastic. It was also fun recognizing the exterior, hallways, and pool from Apple TV’s Acapulco.
Our favorite day was Mexican Day. The buffet was excellent with fresh fruit, juices, and Mexican food, and the show was great. Weekends felt bigger than weekdays.
A few minor downsides: limited non alcoholic drinks, basic coffee options, language barriers at specialty restaurants, an extremely cold room with no HVAC fix, no do-not-disturb signs, very thick pillows, and slow disappointing food at the Kyoto restaurant.

Hotel property was beautiful, the beach was gorgeous, and the staff were so wonderful, specifically Denise and Moses!

We had booked a king bed room 4 months before arrival and were given 2 doubles. After speaking with the front desk, they had no solutions and just told us that the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t be moved.
I understand if there is limited availability, but we booked so far in advance, which made it disappointing.

There were 4 of us travelling together, all of us got food poisoning the second day. We believe it was from the appetizers at the Spanish themed restaurant. I was sick for the whole 3rd day of our stay, I couldn’t leave the room. After that, I was quite paranoid about anything I consumed.

It was also quite disappointing that we were only given 3 restaurant reservations for our 7-day stay. We had to eat at the buffet the other nights. It seems quite abnormal as I have never experienced this at other all-inclusives.

Overall I’d give it 3-stars. It’s not the best hotel I’ve stayed, there was disappointment, but it was beautiful and the staff were very nice.

The food was terrible & there was a stomach bug affecting many people at the resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our previous time at Barcelo Cancun, but will not be back to Barcelo PV. Also, no issues with the staff, they were all very pleasant.

Hotel is very nice, rooms are excellent, staff is amazing. Unfortunately 6 of my group of 13 got sick with stomach issues and I know from speaking with other guests that many others got sick during our stay as well. I cant say for sure it was from the food, but I strongly suspect it. The process to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants should be improved as well.
