Beautiful Resort. Staff was so welcoming. Fernando in the LaCatina bar was super. As was out wait staff around the pool. Ralph and Kevin arrange a wonderful whale viewing trip! After the people the facility was great. BIG rooms. Comfortable beds. Views from the front and back of the rooms were amazing. Food and drinks were very good. The ala carte restaurants were very good and it was nice not having to play the reservation game. Pools were heated and warm. First time I have had jacuzzi pools that were really hot. The grounds are amazing with much greenery. The area definitely is away from PV. About a 25 minute drive. But that is part of the charm. Beach does not compare to the ones in Cancun but the water was much calmer. But the focus of this resort is definitely the pools. I have been to Mexico many times in many locations. This place easily moves to number to on my list. I definitely will consider returning. Any issues about safety as well were quickly lost in the feel of the resort and PV!

This hotel is on a small bay about 45 minutes from the airport. The bay is filled with many boats so is not as beautiful of a view as other resorts I have stayed at and doesn’t feel welcoming to swim with so many boats in the bay very close to the shoreline. The buffet for dinner was closed every night so only al carte option with long wait times, and no reso option only FCFS. Very Americanized food options and minimal authentic Mexican food at the property. However the property is very well maintained, very clean and modern for a Mexico resort, good drink options, excellent spacious rooms, great clean large pools with a swim up bar. Overall if you’re not too much of an ocean person it’s a good choice!

We were on lock down due to the cartel lighting cars on fire. The staff was amazing even though they weren’t allowed to leave the property either. Smiles and kindness. The trip was a little stressful but we all enjoyed it. I would go back.

We upgraded to an ocean front view when we arrived. Staff were absolutely amazing and so very accommodating.
Food was delicious. We stayed for one week and the food was great every time.
The resort itself was clean and staff remained on top of clearing out plates as needed.
Towels were always readily available. Because we travelled during commotion the resort was not as busy as it would normally be at this time. We loved the experience and were told that if it had been during normal times then it would be a lot busier which was good to know.
They have shows every night at 9pm. We attended two of them and were blown away. The staff are incredibly talented and you can tell they truly enjoy their work. It was amazing and I cannot stress enough how everyone should attend!!

We spent 6 wonderful days at Barceló and were so sad to leave. We will definitely be back. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. We especially appreciated the waiter Moises for his great service, and the entire entertainment team with Anahi (we loved the guacamole making class) and Fernando, who brought great energy with his dancing and poolside fun. Our biggest standout was Carlos at the Kids Club, with his infinite energy! He and his team made our kids comfortable and excited every day. We did not expect to use the kids club, but our kids loved it so much they kept asking to go back. Our 5 year old enjoyed crafts, painting, musical chairs, and face painting. Both kids loved piñata making, the Mario Kart tournament, and evening activities like the Mexican party with candy.
The beach was beautiful, and one day we even saw a humpback whale breach five times in the bay. We went whale watching with the Jack Sparrow tour company at the hotel and the crew was fantastic. It was also fun recognizing the exterior, hallways, and pool from Apple TV’s Acapulco.
Our favorite day was Mexican Day. The buffet was excellent with fresh fruit, juices, and Mexican food, and the show was great. Weekends felt bigger than weekdays.
A few minor downsides: limited non alcoholic drinks, basic coffee options, language barriers at specialty restaurants, an extremely cold room with no HVAC fix, no do-not-disturb signs, very thick pillows, and slow disappointing food at the Kyoto restaurant.

Hotel property was beautiful, the beach was gorgeous, and the staff were so wonderful, specifically Denise and Moses!

We had booked a king bed room 4 months before arrival and were given 2 doubles. After speaking with the front desk, they had no solutions and just told us that the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t be moved.
I understand if there is limited availability, but we booked so far in advance, which made it disappointing.

There were 4 of us travelling together, all of us got food poisoning the second day. We believe it was from the appetizers at the Spanish themed restaurant. I was sick for the whole 3rd day of our stay, I couldn’t leave the room. After that, I was quite paranoid about anything I consumed.

It was also quite disappointing that we were only given 3 restaurant reservations for our 7-day stay. We had to eat at the buffet the other nights. It seems quite abnormal as I have never experienced this at other all-inclusives.

Overall I’d give it 3-stars. It’s not the best hotel I’ve stayed, there was disappointment, but it was beautiful and the staff were very nice.

Unfortunately 6 of my group of 13 got sick with stomach issues and I know from speaking with other guests that many others got sick during our stay as well. I cant say for sure it was from the food, but I strongly suspect it. The process to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants should be improved as well.

The resort is absolutely stunning and the staff is amazing! We loved the Italian restaurant and the breakfast at the buffet was really good. Our favourite sunning spots was facing the ocean. Loved the adult pool Watch out for the sand bugs as you will get lots of bites from them so use spray. Also try to hydrate during the day often as possible as the sun hits hard around 1-3pm. Also the nightly live music in the Catalina was great. My favorite cocktails was the lime margarita and the caprhina.

Rooms were clean and spacious. Pool areas are also clean and well cared for. They fog areas for the little mosquitos and use a hawk to keep away the crows.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Food was mediocre, something for every one.

Thought it a bit odd there was a letter regarding what to do if you “get sick” but made more sense after 4 of 7 of us had a gastrointestinal issue and down for a day and a half.

Seems that this could be an ongoing issue for the resort? We did not drink the water from the tap, only bottled water. Not sure if this was food related but sure made you not want to eat the resort food.

Overall beautiful weather and enjoyed relaxing at the pool!

Advertised as a great resort, but our room had issues from the first day. Not well maintained, in need of deep cleaning, lighting issues, electrical issues and in general, not prepared to receive guests. We booked for seven nights only to find upon arrival, that we could only reserve a restaurant three nights and the rest of the meals had to be eaten in buffet. My wife and I both got food poisoning on second and third day respectively. Housekeeping was poorly done each day. Nice reception by employees at most areas of resort. Great bed, nice views and nice pools.

Our family had a wonderful time at Barcelo PV. We were upgraded to the family room at no additional cost. It was very spacious and both of our kids slept well. The ocean view was stunning! All of the staff were so kind and courteous. The Barcy kids club was awesome. Our daughter was able to play with other kids and they made the coolest souvenirs to bring home. Carlos and Maria are so great with children. They were like family for the 10 days we were there. Fernando, Anaih and Victor were part of the entertainment crew and made pool days extra fun.

Disappointing that none of the waterfalls on the resort were running. There wasn’t much of a beach. It was washed out from the waves and not easily accessible. Couldn’t safely go in the ocean to swim.
We travel to a lot of all inclusive resorts and felt the food leaves a lot to be desired.

The room was AMAZING!! So spacious, super night, great blackout curtains, ceiling fans, and an awesome view!! The shower was glorious. It was one of my favorite rooms I’ve ever stayed in! The amenities are really good - 4-5 pools, good restaurant choices, the “special” dinner are delicious- the steak place- WOW and right on the water!! Good buffets overall. Only major downside is no real gourmet coffee. Major bummer. Otherwise- clean property. Beautiful. Well kept!

The excursion we chose was not worth it though. We paid $99 per person to do a boat trip to two other private beaches, a “hike” but it did end well! There was a lot of down time and a lack of communication. We’d have chosen something else next time. Still awesome to be on the water though.

The resort is outdated and there are obvious signs of disrepair. For example, the water features at the entrance to the resort and into the pool are no longer working, and cosmetic damage to rooms are not repaired.

While the beach is safer and quieter because its tucked away in a cove, this also means there is limited walking, especially with the construction to the seawall, and the cove is full of tour boats. The resort puts zero effort into beach experience. For example, staff do not service the beach loungers, which are also in the shade for most of the day.

The buffet food is ok most of the time. But you often get sat at a table that has to be cleaned or is partially set. It can take awhile for staff to ask if you'd like a drink. Italian restaurant has decent food and good service. Japanese restaurant has horrible sushi rolls and poor service. The surf & turf restaurant is considered the best. There is no disco at this resort. It has a bar with limited and uncomfortable wrought iron seating that is usually filled with people watching sports.

There is only one swim-up bar and its in the main pool along with the organized recreational activities. This also means there is constant noise from staff speaking into a microphone, which is far from relaxing. The main pool is mostly in shade all day. Adult pool is quieter if you go to the far side. But there is also a smoking area here, which ruins the experience of this side of the pool and the hammocks.

Absolutely one of the best resorts in the PV area. Not overly busy. Food is pretty plain/generic with very little taste.
Oscar was by far the best waiter/server in the entire resort.
The lady that runs the entertainment around the pool is very load when talking into the mic, it comes over the speaker system like she is screaming.
But this resort is amazing. I gave it a 4 star just because of the screaming coming from the speakers when she talked, but the rest of the resort Is a 5 star all day

The staff was amazing! Very friendly! Samuel a server at the buffet totally made our stay! Alfredo and Juan and the swim up bar very friendly, Victor and the other pool side entertainment staff were fantastic! Very entertaining, and great at getting people involved. I want to send a special thank you to Edmund, we encountered him in many places at the resort, his personality and happy energy was contagious. He always had a smile on his face, was very eager to have conversations and worked so very hard!
All in all the resort was pleasant. The room was decent, had a few minor issues but absolutely nothing that all in all affected our experience and therefore not worth mentioning.
We loved that the resort was on the smaller size, the food selections were still lovely and we didn't have to hike 10 miles from our room every day. The pools were perfect. Beach was nice. It was very nice to be able to leave the resort without having to get on a bus to do so. It was like stepping into another world, we found a nice restaurant up the hill in the town, had the best fajitas we have ever had! Found a lovely locally owned store for some souvenirs and everyone we encountered were very friendly.
My honest to goodness only negative about the whole experience was the coffee, very very terrible. I would suggest bringing your own if possible.

Staff were friendly, clean resort, easy to navigate through the resort, easy access to the beach and excursions, always was able to find a lounge chair and get into the buffet for dining without waiting in long lines.

The room size was fine. The property is older as in 1980’s older. Pool area is maintained. The property appears to be short staffed. This is listed as a luxury resort which is false. The food is literally the worst I have ever had in a resort. No flavor, cold, lots of goulash’s, food that tasted like it came out of a middle school cafeteria. Several taxi drivers laughed and said “, no no you don’t eat there”. The beach is extremely limited in size . Since there are many smaller boats in the bay, it’s not a place with a pretty beach. The one area that was populated was on an embankment so it was hard to sit in a lounge as it was pointed downward at an angle.
Two of the most important features bombed at this resort which is quite a distance from anything. So walking is not a possibility. Please do no waste your hard earned money.
