Patio Azul is a unique and captivating Puerto Vallarta experience. Astounding views, quiet surroundings, and attentive staff make for a fulfilling, special PV experience that you will remember. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable retreats, and amenities abound. Our cherished memory is of the late afternoon sunset over the bay, sipping fabulous margaritas prepared and served by Hugo. We spent two weeks at Patio Azul, above the bustle of PV, yet within sight and close to all of the attractions and adventures of the Puerto Vallarta region. Highly recommended!

The entire hotel was spotless. Great and friendly staff. Provided excellent advice about best places to visit. Food was deliciously prepared with fresh fruit and vegetables from the local farmers. The views from the hotel are amazing. The only problem for us were the excessive amount of stairs since they don’t have an elevator. Other than that, this is one of the best hotels I have ever been.

Fantastic couples stay! Amazing ocean views from this hotel up in the hills. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful. The room is huge with a kind size bed and several chairs for sitting. The location is quiet and peaceful.
Breakfast lunch and dinner can be conveniently obtained on site, or a short cab ride away. You can walk down to the beach in about 20 minutes but it may be strenuous (pretty steep inclines and uneven surfaces). If you go to town, be prepared to take a taxi back uphill to the hotel. We saw evening fireworks down at the beach two of the nights we stayed.

The partial ocean view at this hotel was breathtaking and surpassed the views of other hotels. The spacious, clean, and relaxing rooms were a delight. I particularly enjoyed the rainfall shower and deep soaker tub. It was an unforgettable experience to have breakfast while watching humpback whales. We definitely plan to stay here again.

I found someone else's hair in my bed in the first night. Also, there was some construction in another hotel. Though out of their control, I did hear the noise every 9am, forcing me to leave the hotel earlier than I would love to everyday.

We have stayed here in the past and had a good experience but this stay was different. One thing to note: there is no elevator in the building and a lot of stairs. When we checked in we were taken down 3 flights of stairs and ended up in a room on the lowest floor in the corner although the hotel seemed to be quite empty. Once we checked in we were essentially ignored. We went up to the pool area and there was no one working-bar was empty. No one approached us to ask us if we wanted or needed anything the entire time we sat up there. Now-the hotel is in a gorgeous location with absolutely amazing views-but there was no staff to be seen. When we checked out the next morning we had to carry our luggage up to the lobby which was 3 staircases-the last one is long and steep-not for everybody. The room itself was ok-bed was comfortable and the decor was nice but I was puzzled as to why we were put a room in the basement corner down 3 flights of stairs when the hotel clearly was not busy and they had no staff. There are better options in Conchas Chinas.

I loved this place. Great views, great food, great room. Staff always helpful and cheerful. It is kinda far (by foot) from things so expect a lot of Ubers but they're not expensive to get to Zona Romantica etc. Taxis also are waiting outside the hotel if you prefer to use those.

The room view of the ocean was stunning, they kept everything very clean, the only slight complaint that I have is the bed could be a bit more comfortable, but that is my opinion because I know many people like a more stiff bed, but this of course did not ruin my experience. Patio Azul was a nice surprise. During our last visit to Puerto Vallarta, we stayed at a hotel about a half-mile up the road, but this hotel was a much better choice for what we were seeking. It only has a handful of rooms so the experience is a bit more personal. The rooms were well appointed and all but one have excellent ocean views. Our room had a private patio and the hot tub was just a few feet from our door. The staff was extremely welcoming and engaging. The views are beautiful with a very personal bar and dining space within a few steps.

We were also presently surprised by the dining experience. Both my wife and I are lactose intolerant, so it was exhilarating for her to know the French Toast was made with lactose free milk. It was so delicious she ordered the meal on back to back days. I enjoyed a vegetable filled omelet with chorizo on the side. Top the meal off with fresh squeezed OJ and a tasty margarita and we could not have asked for more.
The outdoor cushions were a little worn and on our last night the guests above us made a lot of noise in the middle of the night. This was not the fault of the hotel staff and would have been addressed had I decided to go to the front desk to notify them. There are no phones in the rooms, so any requests must be made in person. There are quite a few steps and all rooms require using the steps for access, so if you have limited mobility this hotel would not be a good choice.

I’ve been coming to Vallarta since 1989 and always wondered about this property. So, I booked it. I was so happy after 8 days, I stayed for 6 more. It’s like staying at a million dollar villa in Conchas Chinas. Staff was tremendous and I felt like I was their only guest. The restaurant let me have special orders off the menu. There was always staff to serve you with anything. Best view in Vallarta included. Three dipping pools with different temperatures. 6 stars from me. Thanks Carlos, Arturo, Joelle and the whole staff. The property was quiet and peaceful. It had beautiful vistas of the ocean, the rooms were lovely and clean, as were the amenities for the most part. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the food at the restaurant was tasty. The only negatives were some of the lounge chairs looked a tad dirty and the location was less accessible, so required transportation to and from the main attractions. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and I would return again.

The view is the star of this property. I wasn’t too pleased with my room, and there were issues with the key when I arrived and when I requested my room cleaned. I received exceptional assistance from the cleaning staff anytime I had a request. Only one bar was open during my stay and there was no actual room service. A beautiful hotel with attention paid to all of the decor details, perfect for a couples getaway. Amazing views, we were able to watch whales while having breakfast at the hotel restaurant. It's a bit of a walk from The Zona romantica and downtown PV, about a half an hour with some good hills. But honestly if you're on vacation and you have nothing else to do, why not walk through the beautiful neighborhoods and see all the flowers and lovely homes? Also a quick and cheap cab ride if you prefer.

Honestly, I have been travelling for many decades, and I have stayed at countless Hotels, Motels, from Boutique Luxury Spas to Holiday Inns and Motel 6 & 8's.
The Patio Azul is by far the best property I have ever stayed in Mexico. The staff is fantastic, friendly, warm, and caring. I am already dreaming of my next stay there!!! (Caveat Emptor: If you have mobility problems navigating lots of stairs, it is not the right place for you. No elevator or lift. Also, the wrong place for those looking to party, get high, or cruise for men or women; definitely not for you. Also, it is far from the town, not walkable to restaurants, cafes etc. And nowhere near the beach). But the restaurant has very good food, although it closes early -- 9 PM is the last call. For those looking for peace & quiet, lovely views of the ocean, even for the rooms without the view -since there are terraces on each floor -- and to be treated with respect and kindness, this place is WONDERFUL!

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The view was amazing and we could watch whales out in the bay for hours. The staff was very friendly and prompt to deal with anything we had a problem with. That said, one of only two outlets to plug our phones in or anything else, did not work. The one in the bathroom. They fixed it the next day. Our TV went out on the 5th night and was replaced and working by the next night.(we were gone most of the daytime hours) We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and Edgar the bartender and server was fabulous!
Food was great. The oatmeal for breakfast was the best!
Large serving with nuts and fresh fruit on the bottom!
I really wish we would have been able to see some of the other available rooms as they all are different and I'm so curious. The area is very quiet and if you rent a car, there are spots to park right in front. You will not want to walk down the winding very steep hill (to catch a bus) or especially if you have to walk back up! We rented a car and came and went everyday and night with ease. Very friendly local neighbors come over to the bar and restaurant too, so you know its good. It's less than a mile down the road to the downtown area and the Malecon walk but far enough away to relax at night. We will definitely be back again next year or maybe even in the fall.

This hotel was just perfect! The area is in beautiful Concha’s Chinas. The Views are magnificent from all outdoor areas. I could hear the ocean waves from my room. I was also able to enjoy the Beautiful Sunsets from my room. I was fortunate enough to stay in Villa (Diego) .The room was very clean and comfortable with breathtaking views. The Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating from the moment I walked into the reception area. The waiters/bartenders were excellent. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The pool areas were clean and nice and quiet. Overall my stay was memorable. I will definitely book at this hotel again when visiting PV.

The only disappointment is there seems to be non existant management. We asked to speak with them when we had issue with our airconditoner. Overall the property was fine. Great views. Cool restaurant/bar area (although small). Room looked nice and was spacious.

Biggest issue was that the air conditioner in our room made a clicking/knocking noise that made it very hard to sleep. The fan also made an odd noise. The fan would also turn itself on even after turning itself off so I had to sleep with the remote next to the bed so that I could turn it back off when it would turn itself on and wake me up. Those two issues made for a very poor night's sleep. To be fair to the hotel, I did not say anything to them so they didn't have an opportunity to fix it. We were only staying one night so I didn't feel it was worth it. Had we been staying multiple nights, I would have said something and it's possible they would have fixed it or moved us to another room.

The other issue was lack of staffing. There was one guy running the entire restaurant and bar the night we were there. He was super friendly and very nice, but the service was absurdly slow as he had to take all orders for the whole restaurant and bar, make all the drinks, run all the food, etc. all on his own. All we ordered were a couple of margaritas and pina coladas and it took about an hour to get them.

Hotel has lots of stairs for any guests with mobility concerns. Staff kind and attentive and any concerns addressed immediately. We were whale watching from our room/ the restaurant every breakfast. The flip side to being up on the hill is it’s nearly impossible to go up to the hotel on foot. Super steep cobblestone streets, but the Ubers were cheap so it was no problem. Overall, 10/10 experience.

It was exactly what I needed for 1 week.
The staff we're amazing although at times I think they could use more help.
I cannot believe how hard everybody was working. That did not go unnoticed. The location for me was amazing away from all the noise and people down below.
I will definitely come back with my partner for a much needed, quiet vacation one day.
I have nothing but good things to say about this property. Will one day return

What a wonderful experience. The views the service . Everything was perfect . It was as about a 15 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes into the town with tons of restaurants

Not luxury but boutique, yes.

What’s spectacular - the views. What’s lacking - the service. Technology not working at check-in, water shut off twice in three days, housekeeping forgot towels and asked us to come and retrieve at the front desk, maintenance left their shirt and tools in the closet?, restaurant was meh (food and service). Bed was hard, pillows lumpy, and towels course - not luxury. Front desk could not be bothered.

If you are looking for value, views, remoteness - this is the hotel for you.

Such a lovely place to start off our honeymoon! The patio and pool are excellent and there is a spectacular view as it’s located almost at the top of the hill. The entire staff is also so helpful and friendly.

Added bonus of a cute and sweet patio cat named Molly!

This was my second time staying here. I love the location, the property is beautiful, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the restaurant has an incredible view of the entire bay. I highly recommend to stay here. The only thing is, there is not an elevator, so I would not recommend for someone who has mobility issues, but otherwise it’s a great place and I would come again.

The hotel is beautifully decorated with an abundance of colors. The views are extraordinary. We were promptly checked in and were upgraded to a lovely ocean view room. Our room was gorgeous, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom had a soaking tub, a magnifying mirror, and a rainfall shower. I had to keep the door open though, there wasn't much circulation of air in there. The AC was nice, but the fan wasn't working. Also, this place is not accessible at all. I dreaded the stairs daily. The restaurant was yummy and the staff was nice. I highly recommend this hotel.

Tenemos una experiencia buenísima a esta hotelito.

My friend and I found this place last minute after getting scammed on Vrbo, and we could not have been happier to stay at Patio Azul. It was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and nice, and it had absolutely everything we needed and more! Can’t wait to go back!

Room was really nice and the staff was great. The property is set on a hill so I needed an Uber but it was only 3.00 roughly to go into town and about 25.00 to the airport. The ocean view from the room was beautiful and the food was really good
