We were given the North Tower and we had a few bugs but nothing that really bothered us. Made sure to keep food in fridge and not out. No sun at pools until late and very hard to get a chair by the pool as there are none on the beach. Quite crowded. Food was good. Kids club was ok - we just sat around their pool with our little ones. had some sun there and lots of chairs so this was nice. Gorgeous view from the room and saw wales. Would not go back but I do love southern Vallarta.

The staff was great and accomedating. We had a junior suite that comfortably fit 5 people and a baby.

The only reason I am giving 4.5 stars is the food wasn't always the best but that is my only complaint with this place. Buffet style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 3 restaurants, but one only opens for lunch and the other 2 only open for dinner. We didnt get to try the Italian one, but the Mexican Kitchen was decent.

Our stay was a bit interrupted by the cartel security issues which shut things down for 2 days and it meant no restaraunts were open other than the buffet. Overall it was a good stay, the property is all inclusive. Sometimes the drinks were inconsistent from the different areas you go to and the sports bar was never open.

The beach is nice but the flag is always red for no swimming in the ocean, we did it anyways and were fine. The pools are ok, looks like some maintenence is needed and throughout the property, but nothing that should bother you.

Our TV broke on the 3rd night and they replaced a 42 inch with a 60 inch, which was a very nice tv and upgrade.

Its a great placr to take kids as my son had no problem finding friends to play with everyday. Not the best couples resort, but very family friendly.

I am pleased with my stay and would take my family again in the future.

We requested for a room change since we had no view to anything as we paid . We called twice and were told that they would let me know and never got back to me . Last year we started at the same hotel and paid for the same room description . We did call Expedia and they mention to speak to Marcos at front desk and the change was never made .

Room Furniture is cloth material and was soiled with human stains of some sort, redish? Had to ask Housekeeping for sheets to cover all Seating and also the comforters on the beds. The decor pillows and decor on bedding was stored on top of one of the seating due to not being clean, the bathroom sink faucet would not turnoff when you would use the bathroom sink faucet to turn off.

Was on the second floor of the newer building and also had a view and pools look very murky and not clean pool water due to the daily usage. Need a BETTER Pool Service at the end of day!!! Pools still look Murky Water (NOT CLEAN) and guests kids still jump in and use when pool servicers finish brushing the pool. Not giving me a good reason to return due to the lack of care to rooms and pools along with beach chairs by pool look very stained and NOT cleaned at the end of the use of day. Sorry for the TRUTHFUL comments, though I think something needs to be said so Management can do something about the Hotel which has GREAT SERVICE of STAFF though LACK OF MAINTENANCE TO FACILITY IN IT'S ENTIRETY.

Staff is the star of the stay at this resort - Brianda, Chew, Adrian, Jamie, Vanessa, Alfonso - outstanding! Equinox bar and pool - well worth the extra, if not for this area and the staff I don't know if we would return. Definitely need at least one other food option for evening meals - fine if your only staying a week, anything over that we were looking for other options!

The room didn't work because on the 3rd and 4th floors no Wfi. I reported a leak in my bathroom Thur still leaking when I check out. When i check in i was not giving any itinerary so i couldn't organize myself, and the bracelet i was given i was told went anywhere untill i tried to go to the roof. I never had a massage.

Staff bent over backwards to please us. Curtious, happy and VERY FRIENDLY.

There are negatives.
Very small property.
No where to walk. Only around the pools.
Sun doesn’t get to the only side you sit at until one or two in the afternoon. By that time it’s really hot.
So that was bad.

Not enough restaurant choices fir food better than the buffet.
We ate in the Italian restaurant lots of times. It was the best good.

A good place for families.
Not sun lovers.

This was truly the best vacation we have ever had. Everything exceeded our expectations.

The food was absolutely unreal — a huge variety, outstanding quality, and every meal felt special. A big thank you to the head chef and to everyone working in the restaurants and bars — your work made this experience unforgettable.

The location is simply perfect. One of the most beautiful bays in Puerto Vallarta, with stunning views and a very peaceful atmosphere.

The rooms were incredible — spacious, modern, extremely comfortable, and spotless. Everything was designed for relaxation and comfort.

This place has it all: amazing food, exceptional service, breathtaking views, and unforgettable vibes. We will absolutely come back here again without a doubt.

Not much seasoning used, so it was pretty bland. Italian resturant was the best place for dinner, but we did end up having some wonderful food at a restaurant in the city center.

Overall the resort is 4-5 star. Very good food and service. I'm rating 3 stars because on out last day, while checking out, one elevator broke down with an overcrowded hotel. I had to carry my suitcase up 2 flights of stairs to the lobby. Checking out was chaotic with the check in/check out desks mixed up with people being rude and cutting in front and most of the staff not speaking english or seeming to care abouy the lack of elevator service and us having to carry our suitcases up the stairs. Also the resort staff attempted multiple times to persuade us to sign up for a tour/presentation which we declined more than once. Also we had to ask daily for more hand towel, face towels and soap to be topped up. Otherwise the stay was pleasant.

I stayed here at the Grand Park Royal for 7 days. 2 adults & 2 children. I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star resort.
-Location: it was along the beautiful mountains on the beach. The waves were a bit rough at times. It was a bit far from town which I wanted. Taxis & Uber pricing varied alot with getting around. Sun takes time to come to the front of hotel but I liked it.
-Pools: 2 of 3 pools were ok. 2 big ones, 1 has a swim up bar, and the other was heated. The swim up bar pool was very cold. I barely seen people in it. It felt like a waste. The heated pool was nice. They did volleyball at times with which was a lot of fun. The kid pool was cold but my kids didn’t mind. All pools could use some touch ups.
Food: I thought the buffet and seafood restaurant were good for adults. Biggest con was lack of options for kids everywhere other than the pool snacks. They have an Italian & Mexican restaurant for supper. We only went to the Mexican one once as food wasn’t very good and nothing for kids. We weren’t allowed to the Italian one as we had kids, highly disappointing. The server was rude about it.
Room: was in 301 at end of hotel, obstructed view but you could see some of ocean. Bed was very hard. We tried to upgrade 3 to 4 times. Kept telling us just to check back but never did it. AC was loud but worked good. Room had a bad smell.
Staff: most were very friendly! They work long hours every day.
Kids club: weird smell masked with bad cleaner.
Different colour band may have helped

The hotel was very nice. All of the staff was very pleasant and polite, including the bell man. Ignacio.
One of the things I had a problem with at the hotel was the fact that they left us a bare minimum of towels each day. We didn’t even have face cloths until the sixth or seventh day of
our nine day stay.
Our major complaint was definitely the quality of the food. Our best experience was the Italian restaurant. The food there was à la carte and top quality Italian food. The lasagna was delicious. The soup was great the salad was always very fresh.
All of the other restaurants, we found the food to be subpar. The best seafood at the seafood restaurant was tilapia, which most of us know is a tasteless fish and they did not season.
As far as the Mexican food goes, I have had better Mexican food at a just OK restaurant in Arizona. Everything was sauces upon sauces upon sauces.
Our favorite food was the club sandwiches that we could order through room service. We did at one point put a complaint in with the front desk, knowing that nothing could be done at that point.
Another issue was that the pool was not heated. Next time we book a trip at a hotel with the pool I will make sure that it is heated. There were days that nobody was in the pool except for a few of the children and when the pool warmed up a little bit, it was mostly children in the pool. The adults were not comfortable with the cold water.
This was most likely our last trip to Mexico.

I am writing this review to document a safety failure my family experienced during our stay and to warn other travelers. Late at night, while my wife, our child, and I were asleep, an unauthorized man entered our room. At that moment, we had no way of knowing that he was intoxicated or had the wrong room. We genuinely believed a break-in was occurring and feared for our safety. His behavior, movements, and loud noises were extremely frightening from the first second. I am physically smaller than the man who entered, which made the situation more intimidating, as my priority was to protect my wife and child. Our child was terrified, and the emotional impact of being woken by a stranger inside the room should not be dismissed, especially for families traveling with children. We recorded a short 13-second video of the incident, and everyone who has seen it said they would be extremely frightened and unsure how they would react in that situation. This should never happen in any hotel. Preventing unauthorized access to guest rooms is a basic responsibility that guests should be able to rely on. What made this experience worse was how it was handled afterward. Despite the seriousness of the incident, neither the hotel nor Expedia took appropriate responsibility, and our refund request was refused. I am not posting this to create drama. I am sharing our experience to warn other guests, particularly families, and to highlight a serious failure in safety and accountability.

During our family stay booked through Expedia, we experienced a serious safety incident. Late at night, while my husband, our young child, and I were asleep, an unauthorized adult entered our hotel room. Police were contacted, and the situation was very frightening and distressing. Hotel staff initially suggested the door had not been locked, which we strongly disagree with, as the door was locked before sleep. Our family was staying in two rooms in different areas of the resort. The incident occurred in an older section, while another family member stayed in a newer area with a different door lock system and had no issues. The following morning, hotel management reviewed surveillance footage and informed us that the issue was related to the door lock, not guest error. We were advised to contact Expedia regarding a refund and were offered alternative accommodations if we chose to stay. However, due to the emotional impact and safety concerns, we no longer felt comfortable remaining and decided to leave early. Before departure, we requested assistance with transportation to the airport but did not receive support. After we left, we were informed that the hotel provided a different explanation and declined responsibility. The inconsistent communication and lack of accountability afterward were disappointing, given the seriousness of the incident. This experience caused distress, and we believe safety concerns of this nature should be handled with greater transparency and care.

- Entertainment was lacking. Volleyball net wasn't available in every day. Schedule wasn't followed. The schedule showed an activity at one time, but sometimes the activity got scheduled. There wasn't much dancing in the evening.
- Although this is something that cannot be changed, it is worth noting that the hotel is positioned in a way that the building blocks the sun off the beach during the majority of the morning in early afternoon, up until around 1 PM, so you can only really enjoy the sunshine and the beach around 1:30 ish.
-The building is quite small, so there isn't really anywhere to walk around to enjoy a beautiful garden or anything like that.
- The food is good in the restaurants. However, the restaurants cannot be reserved. And sometimes we've had to wait up to 2 hours.
- The water next to the beach is clear. But the shore gets deep very quickly, and the waves are very strong, so it's difficult to just relax and enjoy the water unless you go in deeper.The good news is that there was no currents, so you don't get carried away.
- The service, here was excellent. Room was cleaned every day. People are very helpful and friendly.
- Spa has massage but no mani/pedicure services.
- The views out of all the rooms are ocean view and it's absolutely stunning.You can see all of the ocean plus the city and some nature.
- 2 of the elevators were broken they only got fixed after 5 days.

Hotel website claims this as 5-star - completely misleading. Check-in was rushed and unhelpful. The room was spacious but poorly maintained: extremely uncomfortable, sunken mattresses, bad pillows, dirty/possibly moldy curtains; a desk with no chair; missing balcony table despite multiple requests; and inconsistent towel replacement. Replacing a broken ironing board took three days and multiple requests, and the replacement was also broken and dirty. Food was lukewarm, repetitive and mostly disappointing. Staff repeatedly asked about allergies, but offered no guidance, there was no ingredient labeling or gluten-free desserts. The pool area was overcrowded and extremely loud, turning into a party atmosphere by midday. Evening entertainment blasted until 10:30 PM and could be heard on the 8th floor - completely unsuitable for families with young children. The beach is beautiful but poorly managed: limited umbrellas (8 total for 30 chairs), inconsistent cleanliness, and a smoking area placed directly at the narrow beach entrance despite claims of being smoke-free. Kids Club smelled like a pile of dirty diapers masked by an overwhelming air freshener. WiFi was spotty. The overpriced lobby shop attempted to charge our card $1,000 USD instead of pesos, resulting in a fraud alert. We were even questioned about “checking out” when our room key stopped working mid-stay. Aside from the view and weather, this feels like money wasted. Stay elsewhere.

Unfortunately… this stay was a miss.

Food:
•Breakfast/Lunch Buffet: Breakfast has a fresh omelet station, which was the highlight. Lunch? …no comment.
•Dinner: You choose between Mexican or Italian.
•The Mexican dinner was honestly disgusting.
•The Italian was actually great!
•Portion Sizes: Shockingly tiny. Not enough for a small child, let alone a hungry adult.

Staff & Service:
Your experience depends heavily on your bracelet color—aka your VIP status. If you’re not rocking the black VIP band, prepare to be treated like an afterthought.

High-Pressure Sales (“Vultures”):
The time-share/vacation-club team WILL harass you daily. Every day. Every angle. It’s exhausting.

Resort Experience:
•The property looks beautiful, but the pools are absolutely freezing.
•Expect kids running and screaming everywhere.
•Our room smelled musty, and not in a “tropical ocean breeze” way.

Bottom Line:
While the view is stunning, everything else fell flat.
❌ I will never come back.
❌ I will never recommend this resort.

Rooms are great, some staff is very friendly and some are grumphy.
One issue that really stands out for me is the variety of food, although it is delicious, its limited.
They have an italian restaurant with ridiculous policy. My wife and I traveled with two minors 10 and 12 to be exact and were denied the entrance to the restaurant.
Another thing I wasn't happy with is the beach space, which i totally understand is not in their hands to expand.

BAD, BAD, BAD! I only put 5 stars so this review doesn’t get erased and people really get to know how horrible the service at this hotel is.

*Restaurants suck! Wait is always over 1 hour and you can’t make a reservation.

*pools are old and deep, deep. And only one entrance to pool.

*snack bar personnel suck! They ignore people so they don’t have to serve you.

*lobby staff are not organized. They gave our reserved rooms to someone else and kept saying they didn’t have anymore rooms.

*Room service… always wrong, missing items, and they never have what the menu suggest.

Only good things were the view, the beach is nice but strong and deep. (Not kid friendly)
I also liked that they have a lot of activities and shows.

The room was nice but the facilities overall seemed neglected. Food was terrible (I'm picky, but there were times I could find NOTHING to eat.) Food info is hard to find. they don't tell you before you go but most of the restaurants have a dress code. We didn't bring the right clothes so we were limited to one restaurant.

I didn't realize when we booked but it's at least 30 minutes into town.

Seemed like a lot of local people from Mexico stayed there and lots of families.

Please be ware that the room deals’ hotels.com have with them are certain type of rooms, ones with no views. If you want a view you have to upgrade it with a cost. The food was just okay, restaurants on property are decent enough, def not 4 or 5 stars dining. Breakfast was good probably the only meal we enjoyed. It seems that the hotel is always hosting outside parties, at least every night we were there, events were held. BUT if you’re looking for a decent place to stay with a nice private beach and unlimited alcohol this one is for you. Staffs are friendly.

Overall we had a really nice stay at Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta. Our first room had some issues, but the manager was quick to help and moved us right away, which we really appreciated. The staff was very accommodating. The only thing I’d recommend improving is the kids’ pool—some parts were missing and uncovered, which could be unsafe. The place was super nice, very luxurious feel. The nicer restaurants do have extremely long wait times, so we didn't get a chance to try the ones we wanted during our weeklong trip. The place did appear clean but there were a lot of bugs, including a roach infestation in one of the indoor buffets. The day time employees were amazing, they all were super sweet and did their best. Room service is iffy though, there was an issue with our order every single night. There was the language barrier so I understood some of the confusion, but at one point they just didn't bring the food up at all after saying they would. Overall great experience, aside from the hiccups, the in-person service was extremely nice even though the room service at night was mediocre at best. I probably wouldn't go back mainly because of the language barrier but that part was completely understandable.

I love that there’s variety when it comes to food and in the International Buffet, Veranda, they will have a “Children’s Station” for picky eaters and I appreciate how they have that.

Nice property on the beach. Clear blue waters. Dining options were decent. The quality of the food could be a tad better but ok. We got sick and tried to see the Dr on site, 185$!! Gift shop was very expensive. Drinks are ok, they only have Dos Equis beer, everything else is extra. I wish they had a few more beer options. Overall wife was content

I would never stay at this place again. Please stay away.
I got food poisoning so bad! I tried to go see their doctor that they have on the facility and I was first told it would be 800 Mexican pesos and when I got there the doctor himself tried charging be 215.00 USD plus the medication. This is ridiculous after I got sick from your facility! The bath and pool towels stink like no other the smell is bad! The cleaning people do not even take the time to clean the rooms. Not a good place to stay.

We recently stayed at Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta, and overall, it was a very average experience that did not justify the price we paid.

The staff was generally kind and tried to be helpful, but many of them struggled with English. That being said, we were able to communicate one way or another, so it was manageable.

The international buffet was very disappointing — the food lacked flavor and variety. In contrast, the Italian and Mexican à la carte restaurants were actually quite good and offered much better dining experiences. The Equinox bar upstairs was also a nice spot.

Our room was clean, which we appreciated. However, room service through the app was unreliable — on some occasions, our orders were forgotten completely.

The worst part of the stay was definitely the Wi-Fi. It didn’t work in the room at all for the majority of our stay, which was a big problem for me as I needed stable internet for work. I reported this issue several times, but no real solution was offered. The Wi-Fi only started working properly on our last day, possibly due to some maintenance, but by then the damage was already done.

For the price of around 320 CAD per night, this resort is not worth it. If you find a deal for around 200–250 CAD, it might be acceptable, but I personally wouldn’t return. I honestly wish we had chosen a different hotel — I left feeling quite disappointed.

A lot limitations, they do not answer the phone when you need something from your hotel room, they are not very social. In the menu suppously you can order anything from the menu, which is not true. Not a good taste on the foods. They are awkful... Really do not go there. My boyfriend and me went and we decided to go to eat really good food away from hotel. REALLY AWKFUL EXPERIENCE. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The ONLY thing we lovedfrim hotel was the beautiful view from your room and the bed is confortable.
