Worth paying for a room upgrade if you can. We had a good sized room, with huge bed on Floor 6 with a balcony. Hotel left a small bottle of fizz for my husband's birthday which was nice. Very clean and comfortable.
Hotel in good location, very quiet. 10 minute walk to the Metro which was so easy (and cheap!) to use to get to the Old Town. Convenient shop next door to hotel and atm machine in lobby was very handy. Didnt use the bar but it didnt look staffed a lot of the time.
Only two negatives. Breakfast was quite basic, no croissants or pastries, lack of fruit choices to go with yogurt, limited hot food choices, poor coffee, not 4 star selection in my opinion.
Nice modern bathroom but bath/shower quite high to climb into, could do with a grab rail nearby for safety measure.
Overall, a good hotel in a great location and I would stay again.

Lovely hotel close to amenities and attractions

Lovely hotel, nicely positioned in a quiet area but close enough to the tram and metro stations and more importantly all tourist attractions. The hotel was nicely furnished throughout, rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection was very good although the layout of the food in the breakfast areas was a little disjointed. The overall hotel experience was very good and we would not hesitate to stay there again. The hotel was also close to lots of restaurants and food places, so easy to spend the day sightseeing and then call into a restaurant on the way back to the hotel. We walked to most of the tourist attractions, all of which were within a 15-30 minute walk from the hotel. So for us the hotel was absolutely perfect!

Hotel is located in a convenient location in Prague with close metro and tram links. Rooms are clean and quiet. Despite being 4 star hotel, they don’t provide water bottles (except first night) nor have iron or ironing board.

Would not classify this as a 4 star hotel. 3 star seems more fitting and in keeping with current facilities.

Generally a good stay, and a good spot for the price.

I did have to wear earplugs at night as you can hear the doors slamming and people above if you're in a small single room, as the bed is right by the hallway wall. Breakfast is minimal (small variety of fruit, scrambled egg, sausage, breads and cheeses) but enough for the morning. 10 minute walk to the metro and tram stop, very easy to access the main sights. I was worried about the AC after seeing other reviews (very warm in July!) but it was working great and quickly in my room. The room itself felt very modern, recently renovated and clean, which was a pleasant surprise compared to other hotels in this price range. I also felt safe in the area on my own at night, however some streets are not very well lit when walking back from the metro & tram stop.

Could benefit from a coffee machine at breakfast, and if you provided earplugs for guests. Breakfast pastries would also be great.

Prague is beautiful and I'll certainly be back!

Lovely hotel. Car parking is extra and a little pricey (€21) a day. I think €10 a stay would be enough and fair! The location is great, although it’s 1.5 miles/ 30 min brisk walk from the square, we enjoyed the walk but it was a little inconvenient if you just wanted to pop back in the day. The second evening was spent local to the hotel and there were plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy. Overall a nice place but slightly overpriced for the location.

This was our second stay at the Ametyst Hotel. We were delighted with all aspects of our stay. the hotel organised transfer to and from the airport. The hotel was clean, comfortable and warm given that it was snowing when we arrived. The staff are professional and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for all tastes. The hotel is slightly out of the tourist centre but close to good public transport links - the tram and metro and therefore represents good value for money is a quieter district of the city. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Pretty good location if you don’t mind taking the metro (train) into town.

But some basics missing, for example:
No black out curtains
No door security in lifts (you can call a lift from the lobby without an access card, or any type of security, meaning anyone can come up or down any time of day or night)
No iron / board in room as standard
5 hangers in a double room wardrobe- not enough!
No aircon and it’s all analog very very dated
Mini bar not stocked on arrival
No additional pillows / feather
Sauna £18 / 400 per hour, not free!
Noisy rooms. So I was in room 102 which was a short walk away from the lifts and it was extremely noisy on level one of a five story hotel yeah the walls were paper thin, I could hear everything
The beds were extremely short I’m only 5‘11“ and my feet were fully hanging off the ends of the bed . Super short beds! I guess the other strange part which is quite common in a lot of European destinations, but even with a double bed, they give you two individual duvets which are barely enough each to cover a bum cheek

Lovely week in Prague and Ametyst

Excellent hotel in a lovely, quiet and premium neighbourhood. Big room, all that is necessary.
Beds comfortable, everything sparkling clean, breakfast great. Staff discreet and helplfull. Enabled me an early check in since I arrived at 10am. The city is a couple of tram stations away. All recommendations even for a longer stay.

We came to Prague as a couple and were looking for a clean, comfortable hotel.
Hotel Ametyst was a very good value. It was clean, staff were very nice. Rooms were in a good condition, but the shower could be better (in our room it was small).
In addition, breakfast could be better - there is a good selection of food but not very tasty or high quality.
Overall - would stay here again.

The hotel is NOT 4 * as advertised its about 3* basic room, small and the shower room had leaks in the roof. Tab flow in the sink was very low so to shave it took ages. Staff are nice and they did everything to satisfy us as their guests. Breakfast is quite basic, no fresh fruits just off the tins and cakes from local supermarket. Tea and coffee are ok. Location is amazing and check in/out was fast. The room furniture is old and needs improvements. Good wifi and its quiet area so all good in that sense. Metro and trams are close and loads of pubs and restaurants to eat.

The hotel is so comfortable, quiet, quaint and peaceful.

I always enjoy my stay at this hotel. Th breakfast is always good. As I was leaving before breakfast, they organised a breakfast pack for me. The only criticism I had, was the room was a bit small and was on a floor where the majority of rooms were being repaired for the coming season. I was offered an upgrade to a deluxe room, however, felt that a family would be better off in the upgraded room. The staff was friendly and helpful as always

Arrived Prague from 24hrs of flight. This hotel made my first impression of Prague. Excellent service. Excellent breakfast buffet. Comfy bed and clean bathroom. Lovely hotel with great position to City. Lots of good priced restaurants around area instead of paying top price in Prague city centre. The staff at hotel are very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately decor has not changed much since last time we were at Ametyst 10 years ago. Couple of issues TV not much interest to English customers. No drawers or hanging space for clothes. I understand they are updating. The building work going on next to hotel is slighting annoying as the builders even work on sat/sun. If you're out from dawn to dusk no problem. Being older customers it was annoying as we came back to hotel about 4pm to go out about 7pm. The builders were still working at 4pm. It isn't fault of hotel. We had lovely time as always in Prague just a small amount of issues.

A fabulous hotel

The hotel is in Prague 2, it’s about a 30 minute walk to the Old Town which we were fine with, there’s lots of restaurants, bars and shops along the way.

When we arrived, the hotel mentioned they were having construction works on 2 of the floors, well we got there on Friday morning and didn’t hear any of the building work until we left on the Monday morning.

Our room was brilliant, clean, warm and a very comfy bed. The bathroom was immaculate and the room was cleaned every day with fresh towels.

Breakfast was included, we actually only had breakfast in the hotel once but that’s not a reflection on the quality of breakfast. There was a wide variety of breakfast foods available - we just wanted to explore some of the little cafes in the city.

Would definitely stay here again!

Nice to stay just outside of the city centre so no stag dos etc. Good choice of breakfast and very reasonable drink prices at the bar. Can also book all trips at hotel reception. Very modern hotel would recommend. Only thing missing in the rooms was a bath (which you need after a lot of city walking!)

I booked a superior room and the pictures that went with this were for another room.
My room was very very old fashioned like it came from the 70s. It was nothing like the website rooms. The walls had black marks on and it was just shabby. It was clean but just very old. One of the cupboards had smashed glass on it. It wasn't 4*.
Staff were mostly friendly and the breakfast buffet was fine.
It does look very different to the website photos.

There s a few restaurants close to the hotel which actually serve good food amd cheaper than those in the center of the city. Breakfast is excellent in the hotel, good variety including hot food. The hotel is located in a quiet suburban area within 10 minutes walk of Wenceslas Square, and 15 minutes walk to Charles Bridge.
There are several bars and restaurants in the immediate area all serving great food and very relaxing.

There is a mini market right next to the hotel, which ia ideal for any little extra you may need.

Prague is a beautiful city with friendly people. I would recommend you do some of the tours and definitely one of the evening boat cruises, but purchase these before you go and you will save yourself about £30 per couple.

The hotel itself was very nice. It was extremely clean. The breakfast was amazing!! So many delicious options. The front desk woman that checked is in, with the glasses, was not the friendliest. She kept speaking to us like we were stupid. The other front desk girls weren't any better. They could definitely use a lesson or two. The bartender with the short hair, the young one, was absolutely please AND very helpful. She didn't speak much english, but she still managed to help give directions. The older bellhop was also extremely.helpful. overall I would give this place 3 stars.

Stayed in adjoining rooms with partner and 3 children, quiet hotel with very spacious rooms which were cleaned and made up every day, more than enough room for my toddler to run about. Hotel staff were very friendly and happy to help with whatever they could. Beds were very comfortable and big, and the rooms were not too hot or cold. Breakfast was lovely with a wide variety of foods to choose from. Definitely recommend if looking for a hotel within 30 mins walk of city centre.

My family enjoyed our stay at the hotel as the staff were very helpful & polite. Also it was not far from the trams or metro to get you easily into the old town & square, and not to far to walk there if you felt like it.

Room a little tired but very clean. Bed comfy and towels nice and clean. Bathroom had a bit of a drain smell, slightly unpleasant but overall good. Staff nice and helpful.

Quiet and Tranquil

I was not upset about the following, everyone was pleasant. Reporting more for quality control:

Had to bump down on airport pickup, hotel arranged for 0100 am pick-up instead of 0100 pm pick up. Front desk did rebound quickly when I called as a driver arrived within 10 minutes of my call from the airport. He promptly delivered me to a hotel, wrong hotel. After delivery to the proper lobby, all was well.

Neat neighborhood filled w/restaurants & bars.

The hotel was off of the beaten path but was a short walk to metro station, trams & busses. The staff were great. Very good breakfast.

A quiet and clean hotel

Hotel is situated in a quiet street close to Tram stop and 10 min walk from Metro/Wenceslas Square.Rooms are clean and tidy,if a little on the small side. Good value and no issues.

Wonderful stay at Ametyst!

Five minutes walking distance to Tram 22 and Metro B station Namesti Miru, this hotel is in a quiet spot at Prague 2. There are some local pubs and restaurants nearby if you want to grab a quick bite of local food and beer.

Staff at the hotel are great, particularly Mr Lukas, the receptionist. He went out of his way to get directions to some of the best pubs and breweries in Prague, however due to time and weather constraint, I only managed to visit three.

Hotel room is very clean and always made up nicely when you're back. Hot water is adjustable and there was even a bathtub in the room which I used to relax after a long day out. The amenities in the hotel are sufficient and the Wi-Fi is fast and very consistent. The shower and toilets are separate! This is a great idea especially if you're staying with a partner and you need to use one or the other. The bed is comfortable and the air-con is great and you get good sleep.

Coming from a tropical country like Singapore, I found the weather in Prague about 17-19 degrees in the morning to be cold but it quickly warms up during the later part of the day. The hotel's breakfast is continental and is pretty good to eat everyday.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. Initially I thought it was \"a bit far\" from Prague's main tourist attractions but taking the tram, metro and buses quickly made me realise they're all less than 15 mins away. Most places are two-five stations away by the metro.
