Very convenient location if you plan to spend your time in the City - close to Central Park, Times Square and broadway theaters. Staff is friendly. Old building and facility but nice and clean. There is ongoing construction/scaffolding in front of the hotel during our visit.

The hotel location and staff were amazing, but it needs a refresh. Very dated and worn furniture in the lobby and rooms. The bed was soft and lumpy, very difficult to sleep. Most of the rugs were worn in hallways and the room. The wallpaper is stained and peeling.

The parking deal was great, free wine at happy hour was a nice touch.

Hate to say it but, Not sure I would return.

Room was tiny and air conditioning did not work. Went to desk at 3am asking for a new room. Was told they didn't have one. They sent up an engineer to fix the a/c but it did nothing to help. Could not sleep at all it was so hot. In March.
Hotel lobby is small. No food services. just a small bar. No meeting spaces. Gym is tiny also. The best thing about this hotel was the location. It was close to what we wanted to get to.

The room had damage and shower did not function correctly. There was no way to prevent the bathroom floor from being completely covered in water. The location is great but for the price it could have been better. Mattress was soft. Outlets were limited. No microwave or fridge. The free wine hour and bottles of water were great though.

We have stayed here twice. It really meets all of our needs. It is in a great location. The staff are always very nice and helpful! If you want to stay at a chic hotel close to Time Square, the Theater District, 5th Ave, and Central Park, this is a great hotel that still leaves you with a little money to spend in NYC!

Very conveniently located to Time Square and the subway. The staff was very friendly. However, the rooms are tiny so be prepared and we noticed some stains on our sheets as well as the rooms just not being in the best condition. It’s a fine stay if you’re on a budget and don’t plan on being in there longer than sleeping but with two people maneuvering around the room was difficult.

The room was clean and comfortable and in a good location. One of the elevators was not working which made the wait for an elevator long. Fortunately, I was on the 3rd floor and could use the stairs. The stairwell looked as if it hadn't seen a cleaning in a while. The staff was very friendly. I would choose this hotel again.

While the staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel itself was slightly run down and the furnishings showed signs of wear and tear. The rooms were very clean. There is a construction site across the street that is loud and brightly lit 24 hours a day, making sleeping in a little difficult. Overall, it was satisfactory but definitely not 5 stars.

I booked this trip for a weekend in NYC and was very disappointed when I arrived. When we got to our room we were able to just push the door open it was not locked at all, then once we got in, the doors lock did not work at all and was able to be easily pushed open from the outside. We then went back to the front desk where the men working seemed as though this is a common occurrence and not a problem. We requested to change rooms and he said they have limited availability and he’d see if he can send someone to fix it. We then proceeded to wait in the lobby at 11 pm after flying and traveling all day for the next 30 minutes as they got someone to fix the lock. We asked what the process was if we wanted to cancel the rest of our stay with them and stay somewhere else and they told us the only way to cancel and refund our stay is if Expedia contacts them since we booked through them. We then called Expedia and they were very helpful and proceeded to contact the Ameritania. Once they got back to us, they told us that they were not able to complete our request because they could not cancel a stay from Expedia and they needed to talk to upper management. So basically we couldn’t do it because they needed to talk to Expedia but when we got Expedia to do it they still weren’t able to… hmm. They said that management would get back to us in 48-72 hours, by then our trip would be over. The room was not nice, no mini fridge, chair or desk. Its been a week since and we have heard nothing

location, which is very close to Times Square, and one staff member who helped us move rooms in the middle of the night during a maintenance emergency. He was professional and helpful.

Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was very disappointing. Our key cards stopped working four times in 7 days. On the day they were changing door locks, we left at 8am returned at 4pm to find our room door wide open with our belongings inside and the lock still not changed. After that, we couldn’t even rest because maintenance began drilling and changing the lock while we were in the room.

The worst issue happened at 2:30am when the AC unit started leaking heavily, soaking the carpet and some of our belongings and causing a strong smell. We had to move rooms in the middle of the night. The first replacement room didn’t have working AC, so we had to move again and weren’t settled until around 4am.

Management never followed up, and the only compensation was waiving the resort fee. The rooms are outdated, and even the bathroom doors don’t lock.

You expect your hotel to be a place to rest when visiting NYC, but this stay added unnecessary stress. I would not stay here again.

I booked a queen room with city views, but upon check-in I was given a king room without a city view. While the larger bed was not a major issue, I would have preferred to receive the room type I originally selected and paid for. The city view was an important factor in my booking decision.

Additionally, I was charged a “non-resident” or “resident” fee at check-in. I was told that everyone staying in New York needs to pay this fee. However, the next day I spoke with a friend who stayed at a different hotel in NYC and they were not charged any such fee. This left me confused about the legitimacy and transparency of this additional charge.

As a visitor to New York, I understand taxes and standard hotel fees, but the explanation provided was unclear and inconsistent. Greater transparency regarding extra charges would be appreciated.

I have visited NYC 3 times and have stayed here every time. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, a good size and comfortable. The location is great with a subway across the street and is walkable to a lot of attractions.

Bellman Jeff and other staff are well mannered to include the housekeeping. Clean rooms and has a good location.

Generally a good stay. But, the shower was just barely with warm water each day. And room heating units are enclosed by the black-out window shades, which when closed then minimizes the heat in the room, especially on a cold day. Elevator key card system does not work well. Staff were efficient and professional, but not that personable.

We went back into room and we set a shopping bag down on bed and left it by accident. Called less than two hours later when we realized and it cant be found. :( :( Housekeeping just did not see it. Room was decent. Lots of outside road noise. Construction going on in the area. They did accommodate me and put me in the back of the hotel so that the noise would be less. One day there was no hot water. The beds are uncomfortable as is the shower. The ac/heat unit would be hot one minute and cold the next. I would not stay here again. Staff was very pleasant and they tried to make it right. Location is excellent.

Heat was not adjustable, full blast no matter what at 74 degrees.
The hotel then had no water on day 2, with 30min being the expected time without water.
The rooms are in desperate need of renovation. The bathrooms don’t have any tub or shower cover and are cold. There were dead bugs in the window sill. The phone did not ring up to the front desk (dead line). I would never stay here again and would strongly recommend you book elsewhere.
