The check in was easy, the staff was pleasant, professional, welcoming and kind. The walk to Stranger Things was 3 minutes, there were shops near by...the location was PERFECT...Starbucks, Whole Foods and 7'11 all close by.

The civilian was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. My son and I came to watch a show. It is very convenient in the middle of everything. The hotel itself is very clean. The room rooms are very clean. Everything is maintained to the 10’s!!! definitely will be coming back!!

This is a beautiful hotel and staff was very helpful. The only issue we had was that the coffee was very weak and looked like tea. We asked and they said it had just been brewed. We paid 40 for a continental breakfast and were not able to drink the coffee. Otherwise lovely stay and would stay here again.

Everything was great for our stay in NYC. The only complaint is that the breakfast was not worth what they charge. It consisted of fruit, stale croissants and danishes, and the oat milk they had out for the coffee tasted spoiled.

Loved the room. All the staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Our server at the restaurant, Dani, was great. She was kind, friendly, helpful, and very sweet. This hotel is geared towards the theater theme while the decor is vintage yet modern. Will definitely be staying here for every future visit.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, and the staff were friendly. However, I’m giving it a 4-star rating because the mini fridge in my room was not working, which meant I couldn't store my dog's food that made fresh . Additionally, I didn't receive the welcoming bed bowl or wipes that were mentioned on the website. I felt a bit disappointed, especially since I saw my friend stay with her dog and was impressed by how welcoming they were. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that same experience with my dog. Other than that, everything was good.

I stayed here last July with my girlfriend for the 4th & we had a great room. This time with my husband the room was so small I couldn’t fit my luggage & open the bathroom door. With that being said, the staff was very accommodating. They took our luggage to give us room to move around & gave us a late check out, since I woke up late after flying in from Hawaii & being on a different time zone. This hotel is quaint & the staff is always “top notch!”

I cannot say enough about the person at the hotel who we called @4 pm day of arrival to let them know we had an emergency and had to fly home early.
Even though we just wanted them to they told us they were thankful we called and would not charge us for the room!!

If you want to be in proximity to Times Square, but at the same time not deal with the full craziness of the area, you can't beat this location. The rooms are small but smartly laid out, and the hotel in generally has a very calm vibe.

My only issue - and hopefully this was just a real unlucky coincidence - is that the fire alarm went off twice in three days. The first time was just after 3AM, and the second was around 8:30 AM the following day.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were small but perfect for one person, super clean and mine had a spectacular view of the city. Free coffee and tea was a nice touch and rare in NY. Lots of great broadway photos and paraphernalia to enjoy too! This will be my go-to place to stay in Midtown.

This place is a gem and I don’t want to give it away! The whole vibe was so cool. From the lobby to the room, it felt like we were back in the 40’s. The staff is great and very helpful. The 2nd floor restaurant has a lot of charm and I can imagine it’s lovely when the weather is nice and they open the terrace. The location is good if you want to be near the theater district. The one thing I’d knock is the size of the queen bed rooms. NYC hotel rooms are always small. These ones are particularly small, leaving nowhere to unpack, hang clothes, eat anything, put anything on a flat surface. It was still worth it for us as we were traveling with 2 teens and needed one of our rooms to have 2 beds (difficult in NYC and London). Their room was somewhat larger but still small. Be prepared to dig things out of your suitcase each morning. Also, unless you have breakfast included just go grab something from a food cart. It’s a HolidayInn Express level set up and hardly worth the $20 or so they charge. Hang out there later for a coffee or drink instead. There are comments about the elevator being slow and breaking. It’s true, but everyone seemed to manage by using the service elevator and crowding in. So…all in all definitely not perfect but okay if you just need a place to sleep with a nice staff in a good location.
