I stayed here because I was attending a concert at the Philharmonie, and it couldn’t have been more convenient — it’s just steps away! The hotel is clean, modern, and within walking distance of many of Hamburg’s most iconic sights. A perfect choice for anyone visiting the city.

1. The reception desk blocked the payment twice on my two cards and the accountant department didn’t do anything to correct the mistake through I was asking for help because I needed the frozen funds.
2. Again, at the reception the staff didn’t give me the bill with the net payment, considering the frozen funds and the intermediate payments the hotel took from me during my stay.
3. The cleaning personnel didn’t do the job correctly until I tipped them. Nothing was changed even after my complaint.
4. The spa receptionist made not one, not two but three mistakes in making my appointments. Thus I had had to rearrange my schedule just because their mistake I was blamed for by them. I was not “clear enough” when I was making my appointments in person standing in front of the receptionist.
5. The breakfast was merely enough for 4 star hotel. In Zurich I had breakfast better in three star hotels.

Location, location location if you are a regular at the Elbphilharmonie then this is heaven for you, you just need few steps to be inside the concert hall, the views from the room are stunning , the Spa is really good, breakfast is amazing and all the staff there are fabulous, the only drawback in the hotel is the express service or speed service button on the phone sadly no one answers the line in a hotel which is a Marriott I never experienced this before and the reason is always we are busy, it happened so many times wether you want to order in for room dining or if you need help with your luggage, every time I have to go down to ask for assistance and that was not convenient at all, I mean there should be a designated person for this line just to reply and if they are busy just to assure you that we will get back to you instead of keep on trying for more than half an hour or 45 minutes.

The Westin Hamburg Hotel is one of our most favorite hotels in Europe. The hotel is especially convenient for us going to Elbphiharmonie almost every evening. The view from our suite is spectacular! We shall definitely return to Hamburg just for the Westin and Elbphilharmonie!

First off, I am from Hamburg and I used to work across the street for a huge media company for years. I left when the Hafen City was being planned.
Oliver the concierge is a true gem.
The hotel is very clean and well located (not talking about the whole controversy about the Elbe-Philarmonie).
Friendly and very professional staff all around.
Cleaning crew could benefit from being less intrusive (they REALLY wanted to clean the room regardless of the Do Not Disturb sign), but this almost neat picking...

My New Hamburg Favorite Hotel.

The Westin Hamburg might be the nicest hotel that I have ever stayed in.

The rooms were outstanding with modern fixtures and very comfortable beds.

The Westin is located the same building as Hamburg’s amazing Elbephilharmonie concert hall.

A recommendation for guests: make a reservation in the bar on concert nights. Otherwise you will not be able to get a table and see the view of shipping traffic and lights along the Elbe River.

Everything was just perfect from the assistant that helped us with our bags, the concierge , the restaurant staff . The concierge went out of their way to accompany me to the concert hall to get tickets for mum in a wheelchair . The place was so accessible for someone in a wheelchair, my mum felt safe and staff ever willing to help . They were so pleasant and helpful at everystage. I intend to go back in early June and without hesitation will be right back at the Westin again . Many thanks for the excellent service .

Fantastic hotel, great location at the concert hall and wonderful views of Hamburg. Just a couple of ‘even better if’ items:
- It’s too easy to select the Wi-Fi option you have to pay for, so much so nearly everyone does it. They don’t quibble but it’s an unnecessary conversation with reception.
- Like a lot of other places I have stayed recently, they assume you have used the mini-bar, even if you haven’t. Maybe because they provide complementary water.
- Basically, don’t do express check-out, go to reception and check your folio.
- One evening we went to the hotel bar and wanted to order some cakes, but apparently the chef had packed them away. We ordered cheese and biscuits instead but the portion was tiny!

This is our second stay at the Elfi. It is a fantastic hotel. Our room on the 18th floor with water view was incredible, very spacious and modern. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
It is centrally located and easily accessible to public transportation. We can highly recommend staying here.

Bathroom suggestions for more practicability

We very much appreciated the champagne welcome, and the very friendly and welcoming overall atmosphere! Everyone was extremely nice to us!

A small table by the sofa would have been very helpful to place a cup or class.

I wonder if anyone ever used the shower controls with wet and soaping hands? It is impossible to turn the sleek knobs, and they are not marked for hot or cold, nor for the rain shower or the handheld piece. It is very inconvenient, especially being a women, who does not want to be surprised by an uncontrollable rain from above! I found the towels hard and dated.

Check in was a breeze! Room was plush. Pool was well managed. Lounge bar has one of the best panorama possible and delicious cocktails. Helpful staff and sign of a healthy management, overall.
The only, obvious but less-favorite part was to realize the room missed a view (for our booking category room). The windows are completely blocked for the architecture of the (masterpiece) building. This was an unique experience, so to say. Felt like this should come as warning. Almost, a little claustophobic.

Couldn’t be more disappointed with what was supposed to be a romantic get away. I booked a room For 2 nights at The Westin in Hamburg for my wife and I 10 year anniversary. Was meant to be a special weekend for us as it was our 1st weekend away without you kids in over 2 years. I booked a room with a “view” as of course I wanted to pop a bottle of champagne, whilst sitting with a view over the city after arriving to celebrate. On arrival to the room, I opened the curtains only to find out that we were staring directly into a wall. There was no “view” at all. On check out I spoke to the lady behind the desk to voice my disappointment, only to be told that this was a view, as my room had a window and that, if I wanted a room with a view, then I should have in fact ordered the room with harbour view. Both my wife and I left the hotel feeling absolutely deceived and mislead, as we genuinely thought that it was a mistake after rechecking my booking. Furthermore, being woken up at 09.05 on Saturday morning with a knock on the door from a man wanting in for cleaning, is just not ok! Furthermore again, in the afternoon we decided to try the spa facilities, only to come down a child in the pool doing countless “bombs” in the pool. A spa is meant to be relaxing and for adults in my eyes. All in all an extremely disappointing weekend on the accommodation front. Wish we chose another hotel but we expected so much from what was meant to be the best of the best in Hamburg.

Dream location and property. The design of the rooms are fabulous with the large windows looking into this gorgeous city. The only part that confused me and was a disappointment was the entrance to the hotel. It feels very low key and massively uninspiring. Also, the hotel reception staff need to work on their genuine happiness and welcoming approach. It all felt alittle bit fake and awkward when checking in. Professionalism was lacking in that department on my stay.

Classic Westin property with luxurious touches. Our room was on the top floor, but faced into the wavy roofline, which meant people on the other side could see into our room. Might as well gotten a room without windows because this meant our windows were closed all the time.

The property is at the end of one of the harbors. The views are terrific as the hotel sits on top of the philharmonic building, and there is a outer walkway for a 360-degree view Hamburg. There is not much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. But just walking a mile into the city center will get you up close to some historic sights.

The room is modern, comfy, and quiet. The bathroom has a neat door that doubles as the toilet door too.

Very long wait at the check in. Staff took way too long of time and were not helpful what so ever. Worst of all, my room was facing and inner opening in this building that looked at a glass wall and my room therefore felt like a prison. It is much better to book another hotel near by and see the Philharmonie building as a day tourist.

Das Beste an dem Hotel war der Ausblick und die Architektur. Das Hotel war als solches nicht überragend. Bei Fragen von Unterwegs, landeten wir bei einem schlecht Deutsch sprechenden Franzosen(?), der von irgendwoher kaum Auskunft geben konnte, viel zu schnell sprach und offensichtlich gar nicht vor Ort war. Irgendeine Telefonzentrale der Kette. Das ganze Hotel war sehr unpersönlich und viele der Angestellten wohl Aushilfen, die sich nicht auskannten. Eine Bestellung beim Zimmerservice kam auch nicht an. Über die Restaurants und das Frühstücksbuffet können wir nichts sagen, da wir uns lieber was außerhalb gesucht haben.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier leider überhaupt nicht. Bereits bei der Ankunft war die Atmosphäre unangenehm. An der Rezeption herrschte großer Andrang, die Wartezeit war sehr lang und man fühlte sich kaum willkommen. Das Bad war stark abgenutzt und die Sauberkeit ließ deutlich zu wünschen übrig. Das Hotelzimmer war in Ordnung und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, der Blick auf die Stadt war wirklich schön. Im Spa begegnete uns unfreundliches und sehr unprofessionelles Personal. Kurz gesagt: Man zahlt hier hauptsächlich für den Ausblick - alles andere wird dem hohen Preis leider nicht gerecht.

Virkelig lækre værelser med en fantastisk udsigt. Dog ikke retvisende, at der i beskrivelsen af family suite står at der er en sovesofa som er en dobbeltseng, hvilket ikke er tilfældet, da sengen kun kan blive Max 150 cm lang, dermed er det kun mindre børn som kan sove der.
Man skal ligeledes være opmærksom på at poolen kun må benyttes af børn under 16 år specifikke tidspunkter, hvilket heller ikke står skrevet i nogen former for beskrivelse af hotellet.

Vi kom lidt tidligt ca 2 timer før. Vi tjekkede ind og fik at vide at de ville skrive hvis værelset blev klar lidt før. De skrev aldrig og da vi kom tilbage 10 min før rigtig check ind tid, var ham vi snakkede med først taget hjem. Vi måtte tjekke ind igen og den nye receptionist virkede irriteret på os. Plus yderst mangelfuld service på informationer, så som hvor morgenmaden var, hvordan adgang til spa fungerede osv. Har boet på mange hoteller og dette var ikke en 5 stjernet service. Selv dårligere hoteller har langt bedre service og venligere personale.

Statt eine schöne Aussicht auf Hamburg gab es nur den Blick auf eine Glasfront. Davon hat man aber auf den Bildern des Zimmers nichts gesehen. Da war die Aussicht auf Hamburg zu sehen.
