Great location, fab rooms and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay. I think this hotel offers great value. The breakfast was expensive and to be honest wasn’t very good for the £28 plus service charged. It arrived to our room cold which was disappointing but it didn’t take away from the overall experience which we thought was great. We will be back.

The room was miniscule and not very well laid out. So if you are going to do anything at all other than literally shower and sleep (e.g., read, have a cup of tea or coffee, meet anyone in the room), it was impossible. For example, there was literally no place to put your suitcase. And this hotel was not cheap, so I expected more.

The bathroom was quite nice even though it was small. The shower was great. And there is a lovely whiskey bar/speakeasy just off the lobby. So there were some compensations. That is why they got 2 stars instead of one.

This is a fantastic hotel. We stayed in connecting family rooms and were very comfortable throughout our stay over Christmas. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The beds and bathrooms were great. Breakfast was absolutely worth it… would recommend this to anyone visiting London. The location also cannot be beat.

I don't want to sound like a tight scotsman (although I am :), this is not a cheap hotel so to get £12.80 per day for what they called servicing the room (discretionary) was a bit much . If a hotel of this class don't pay their staff enough that they rely on tipping then get a new job

Good but could’ve been great.

Great location. Blissfully quiet even though only a few metres away from Whitehall. Marvellous staff. Good room although the sink was chipped and the plug didn’t work properly. Lovely bar with cocktails. Breakfast was nice but overpriced. One issue my wife always complains about is the lack of a plug socket close to a mirror to plug in a hair dryer.

enjoyed our two nights in the sherlock suite (has 5 sherlock suites) with a very comfy bed, nice living room (small furniture) and great roomy marbled bathroom with tub and separate shower. room 118 has no view and feels like you're in a basement suite, but have to remember it was a police station...not a purpose built hotel at the beginning. great staff and great people at the bar, especially the portuguese bartender that was very friendly and had a good chat. the lobby has great art and artifacts from the police dating back decades on display as well

Noisy aircon disturbs sleep.

The Great Scotland Yard is a wonderful building in a great location. The decor is good, the staff polite and our room was large, clean and comfortable.

However, if you are a light sleeper then I would recommend that you avoid this hotel. The ventilation system in our room hummed and rattled whilst switched on and, even when switched off, there was an almost continuous background hum. We raised this with reception after the first night and, after they discussed with engineering, we were told that it was normal and like that in all of the rooms. The recording I took of the noise is most definitely not normal nor is being kept awake by background noise.

Add to this a distinctly average breakfast experience (our booking included breakfast but that piece of information was not communicated between hotels.com and the property) and we would not choose to stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff were truly wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. They took our luggage and stored it securely until our room was ready, which made our arrival stress-free. The bar area in the hotel was a great spot to relax, with a comfortable atmosphere. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the city center. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the city!

Room was clean and just ok- underwhelming for the price. Thought breakfast was included but wasn’t and this was surprising considering the very expensive rate. Dinner (room service) food was very basic which again surprising considering the high cost and it being a 5 star hotel. Cost of breakfast again very high and slow service despite advising we had to be at an event. The hotel were unable to facilitate twin room despite requesting when booking and a couple of times after which was unfortunate. Disappointed that there was not even a glass in the room in order to drink water. Have stayed in much higher standard hotels. The staff were however friendly and welcoming, particularly the lady who checked us in and the lady who delivered room service. good location but given the cost I didn’t find the hotel worth this.

Open clothing rack ruins the luxury

Interesting hotel with history. The most comfortable bed with luxurious bedding. Smart toilet with heated seat and all the bells and whistles. There are 5-star elements in the decor but the upscale feeling is totally ruined by the open clothing rack. It is the focal feature in the room. And no matter how good are your outfits, they don't enhance the room hanging in full view.

Came here for the London Winter run and also to celebrate my birthday.
On check we were told we had been upgraded as a birthday treat. To be honest I 5ink the room we had was of style we had booked so not an upgrade but an amazing room none the less.
As we were only here for 24 hours and had booked in convenience to an event we didn’t get to completely enjoy what the hotel had to offer so will definitely be booking again.
For anyone looking for someone close to central London at a reasonable rate I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room not ready at 3pm, poor communication, had to keep getting up and checking. Offered free breakfast in the end which helped make up for it. Room should be ready for 3 pm at latest as that what I pay for. I leave the room when I’m told to if I didn’t I would be charged, so works both ways. If I had been contacted and apologised to and compensated in some way it wouldn’t have been as bad.

Lovely hotel in a busy area but as on a side street nice and quiet.
Nice size room. Comfortable bed. Great facilities. Pillow menu always fun.
Courtyard view was the view of a roof so not quite as expected..
The Elephant bar was a nice space for cocktails and great bar food. The other bar was closed during our visit but no notice given.

Dined at Erksted in the evening where the food was fab. As expected.
Although there was no MD on arrival, and the Somelier was pre occupied unloading wine glasses from boxes through out the evening.
Considering there were only 4 tables being used the front of house seemed a little dis jointed and it let the experience down a little.

This is an exceptional Hotel. Clean, curteour, well located.
Its HVAC is superquiet and responsive ... Slept like babies The hotel kept the original stables from which at 10am Police ride out on beautifull horses for their patrol.

I've never stayed at a hotel where I felt so much like a valued guest. Service is above and beyond. At the end of an 8-night stay, staff made me feel like I was leaving friends behind on our departure day.

The hotel itself is in a perfect location between Westminster and Soho in the West End right near Trafalgar Square with both the Embankment and Charing Cross tube stations within easy walking distance. The decor is charming and oozes with history in line with the Scotland Yard theming. Their hidden speakeasy is a gem offering cocktails and jazz music a couple nights a week, as well as the 40 Elephants bar which we frequented a couple times for a nightcap and upscale snacks.

We also loved our courtyard-facing room which was small but still felt luxurious, efficient, and filled with perfect touches. We loved having bedside outlets, a Nespresso machine with pods replenished daily, a cooling drawer kept stocked with both spring and sparkling water, a towel-warming rack, a bidet, and super-thick robes and slippers. The bed was supportive but cloud-like with a very warm (sometimes too warm) fluffy duvet. The water pressure in the shower with both rain head and hand-held wand was amazing. We returned to the room most nights to find chocolates waiting on our nightstands with a fresh fruit bowl also delivered to our breakfast table several times.

I can say without exaggeration that the Great Scotland Yard hotel exceeded my expectations in multiple ways.

The location was close to Trafalgar Square which is a fairly central location to many siteseeing areas The hotel is a short way down a side street which makes it a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle. The location also allowed us to get to several places we wanted to see and was convenient to the tube and bus stops.

My favorite hotel stay to date. It was luxurious and the bed, pillows and room was SO comfortable, we slept the best we have ever slept in any hotel. It was clean, superbly decorated and located in the heart of old town London easy walking distance to everything. Just off Whitehall, so close to everything, Thames, West Minister, shops, Underground. Absolutely stunning looking building front, quirky, well designed interior. Amazing/friendly /helpful staff. A nice, relaxed beautiful bar(Forty Elephants). Rooms-spotless, well equipped. With access straight into the Ekstedt restaurant on an evening, with service from the lovely, friendly chef, who cooked the most delicious 6 course taster meal we've ever tasted!! to the sommelier, who brought us the most delectable wines and explained the backstory to each one with such passion, and the hostess, waiters, and waitresses, nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
I wouldn't hesitate to return here!!! We absolutely loved it!!!

The room is bit small but have lovely interior. The hotel location is great for the access to the stations and Covent Garden area. The only thing we disappointed was check-in experience (they didn’t offer anything about VIP access and when the room was ready, they didn’t call and text to us unless they promised). However the staff apologized for that by the letter and also at the check out. Overall I recommend this lovely hotel:)

The room was more than I expected in just about every category that I could think of. Excellent hotel that is in the heart of central London yet seemingly tucked away on a quiet side street. Perfect location where you can walk to so many places whether it be the theatre or the various parts of London The tube stations are on either side of the hotel as well, just a short walk. I must point out the awesome bathroom with the rain shower head or for those who like to take a bath there is a separate giant tub. Everyting in the room was clean and there is a switch near the door that allows you to choose how often you would like the room cleaned. Definitely a place that I highly recommend.

I found this property to be well located with access to many attractions. This is a beautiful hotel located in a special part of London. If you like life with a bit of luxury then this hotel offers a very high end finish with plenty of style.
We had one of the top floors with a balcony which was beautiful, however I read beforehand that the rooms were small & this was the case with ours.
The cost of food & drink was very high. Which I don’t mind but i didn’t find it good value for money. For example, A cocktail I ordered was £19 & it wasn’t much bigger than a shot.
Staff were friendly & helpful. Overall a lovely hotel.

We had a lot of issues with our room:

What looked like a sick stain on the carpet.
Hot water ran out half way though shower in the morning (so my advice would be to avoid showering at 8.40 at that is obviously peak time).
Bathroom flooded from shower so got wet feet every time we went in there afterwards. We planned on asking reception to send someone to mop while we went out but queue for reception was soo long we gave up.
No soap in the soap dispenser
Hook on back of bathroom door had obviously broke off and had not been fixed/replaced so we had no-where to hang towels.
Dead spider in shower
No plug in sink - we called reception to ask for one and was told someone would bring us one, we chased after half an hour, waited another twenty minutes then gave up waiting. Someone did eventually come but by then my husband was in the shower so I couldn't give them the access they requested to the bathroom.

There wasn't much full length hanging space in our room (I managed to hang 3 dresses) this was fine as it was a short stay but if we were staying for longer this would have been an issue.

A discretionary service charge is added to bill at check out, needless to say we didn't pay this given the above.

Hands down, a MUST stay!

The history of this building alone makes it worth the stay, but then you add the incredible staff, the cleanliness, the cozy beds and linens, the central location and delicious food and drinks, and they have knocked it out of the park! I will absolutely stay here again. Ten out of ten! Location, location, location - I walked everywhere! You will be thrilled you booked at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel!

Such a comfortable hotel with great character. Staff were so friendly. Our room on the 5th floor was very peaceful. Great location for walking around the sights of London. My only complaint would be is that the tea/coffee/milk needs to be refilled each day without having to ask.

Stayed one night while eating at their signature restaurant ‘Ekstedt at the Yard’. Checkin very efficient. Nicely decorated room with plenty of fluffy towels. Staff throughout very helpful. Enjoyed the jazz band in the bar late evening.

The property was beautiful from the lobby to the restaurants to the rooms. The rooms are a bit small but clean and new . The bathrooms are big with a special bidet toilet that cleans and warms. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that we had to ask for things more then once .
