The staff are exceptional. Polite, knowledgeable, helpful but not intrusive.
I did not try the breakfast as there were many bad reviews on this.
Room was very clean. As others have noted, the room could use an update. The bathroom fixtures have the finish worn off, the wardrobe had many scratches of wear as did the table and side tables. The fridge built up with water and was unusable. I read the reviews about the noise from rooms above and thought there was just bad luck or extra noisy people. This was sadly not the case. The last 2 nights of our stay someone was in the room above and you could hear every loud floor squeak of every step. I'm glad it wasn't for the full week of our stay.

Arrived at The Grand Hotel Trafalgar June 6, 2026. Great location. Overall experience was good. Received a warm welcome from the staff and they were friendly anytime we encountered them. The lobby was the highlight. Can't speak to the breakfast as we did not have anything, but the complementary tea and coffee was a nice touch. The bedroom was clean, but dated and had no aircon. It would have been nice if the couch was facing the TV. Also, the bathroom smelt like mildew.

All I say is, when a customer is checking out on the iPad on their own, don’t just walk across start speaking to them and just start taking over their checking out process when they are coping well enough! It’s also self service!!

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were well appointed. The beds were comfortable with good pillows and duvets. The a/c worked well. Had a mini fridge and microwave as well. I could stream to the television too. The best part was how quiet the room was. We had a room facing the street and only steps from Trafalgar Square and we couldn't hear anything from outside. Slept really well for a change on vacation in a new (to us) hotel. The key system and access to the elevators, etc, made us feel safe too. Would definitely recommend to others.

Location was central to a lot of great places and looks gorgeous from the outside and lobby. The room leaves something to be desired. Bit of a musty smell and awkward lighting. Also if you book from hotels.com without specifically paying more for a window room you will get an inside room with a tiny prison window. Bit overpriced.

We had a good experience with Navel in the front desk. He took great care of us and allowed us to check in early so we could freshen up before we went out exploring. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows, which are very important to me. The bathroom was just OK and a little outdated. Needs a face-lift. No night light in the bathroom and the bathroom door doesn't stay open. We had to have the front office reset the television so it would work. AC took awhile to cool the room. It was an older hotel so that's what we expected but probably won't go back. Front desk staff were very nice.

The location is fantastic, an impressive main entrance reception area. The bar restaurant area is fantastic and so were the staff. The room was disappointing, no safe, no extractor fan for the bathroom and the bathroom door lock was broken. The toilet failed to flush first go which was annoying especially considering the price tag. Breakfast eggs both fried and scrambled were cold both mornings. The bar meal was top drawer - we enjoyed that. Generally it was a nice stay.

This hotel is at an excellent, very central location.
The hotel staff are extremely helpful. The hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable. They have a library to sit and relax with all types of complimentary teas and coffee drinks. Dinner entrees are wonderful.

The room decor could be updated and the rooms are not as large as in the States. Breakfast was also underwhelming in comparison to the price.
Otherwise, highly recommend.

The room was clean and comfortable and we were centrally located to major attractions. The front desk manager Kahlia (spelling) ? was very helpful and customer service friendly. He held our luggage until our room was open and escorted us to a waiting room for coffee or water. We appreciated all the staff and thank everyone for their kindness and hospitality. As an extra we were able to wash/ dry our clothes for free as that was also a benefit of staying at the hotel.

Americans traveling in summer might think the air conditioning is not cool enough. We visited when temps were upper 80’s and our room was muggy and warmer than we would prefer, but it was bearable. Other than that this place is perfect. Great location, water filling stations and free coffees in the lounge saved us a lot of money. Free laundry was nice but had to wait because only one washer and one dryer. Comfortable beds and room was spacious.

Great location! Room was a bit smaller than we expected (to be expected in Europe), but I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in London. AC had a hard time keeping up with the record setting heat, but again, this was unprecedented heat. Would stay here again!

We stayed for 4 nights and absolutely loved the location, it was perfect for exploring the area. The staff was welcoming, and always very helpful throughout our stay. One of our favorite parts of the hotel was the cozy Library/Coffee lounge area, which was such a relaxing place to unwind, along with the excellent pizza restaurant attached to the property. Everything was exactly as expected, which is especially reassuring when traveling internationally. We would definitely stay here again!

The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good with plenty of options. The biggest reason I choose this hotel was its location. It's really close to two Underground stations, and close to a lot of sites of interest. Some of the sites (Parlement, Westminster Abbey, and Trafalgar Square) are a short walk away. If I am in London again, I will definitely stay there.

Fantastic location in central Westminster for seeing London's sites. It is a half-block walk to Trafalgar Sq. Charing Cross Station is just 3 minutes walk, and you'll find nice pubs nearby.
The front desk staff (especially Nalin) was very helpful and arranged luggage storage and earlier than expected check-in since our four person group arrived before noon.
The hotel has a breakfast restaurant but it is overly expensive. Walk several doors down the street and you will find similar for half the cost. The ground floor pub/bar was relaxing with a pleasant staff. Like most hotels in Europe room amenities are limited and the rooms are less spacious. Get used to it. Our group had access to a very nice and spacious guest lounge on the ground floor that offered coffee and tea, plus a nice place for our group to gather and relax. One downside...the two lifts are small, so on mulitiple occasions, the lift arrived at our floor already stuffed with people which required waitihg for the next trip... or the next after that.

The room was clean and well made up when we arrived.However, on some occasions, housekeeping missed washing cups or wiping down surfaces. The location is absolutely fantastic if you wanna walk everywhere, we really enjoyed it. I can say our room was very quiet despite the hotel being on a very busy street. We were very close to Trafalgar.Square. it was great to be able to send out clothes for cleaning, but expensive. It was also great that there was a complimentary washer and dryer that automatically added soap. however, there was only one of each unit and the capacities were small and there was sometimes a wait to use the machines. The food in the restaurant downstairs was good. Although a little expensive and across the street was a great little pub, called the Sherlock, which was great to go for lunch or dinner or just a couple drinks. We didn't spend much time in our hotel room except to sleep, but found that the TV service was lacking options. And even the streaming required streaming from a phone and connection was not always reliable. I would definitely stay there again despite any issues I encountered.

Clean hotel and room, nice private sitting room with free cappuccino/espresso maker, water bottles, noticed on the 2nd there was a guests closet with little extras in case you needed (toothbrush/toothpaste, mouthwash, comb…)

This place is fantastic. Right next to Trafalgar Square, Theatres, pubs, and restaurants. Walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, British Museum, etc. The Hotel is old, but beautiful, and completely updated. It even has a free laundromat. The breakfast is well worth the extra fee. It's not the least expensive hotel in London ($300-$400 p/n), but it is typical for a nice hotel in a good neighborhood, in a large tourist city. Recommended Highly.

We were on room 825 and prior to getting to London were given options to check in early with Club Quarter. This was ideal as when we got to London we were allocated our room with an electronic key downloaded on the phone therefore we didn’t actually need to queue for reception etc. . The room itself was spacious with a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle etc. The bathroom has a large shower with all the necessary toiletries you needed for a short stay. Although we didn’t need to interact with staff for any reason all staff we did engage with were very polite and friendly so no issues there! . We only used the room therefore cannot comment on other facilities but it all looked amazing . The Grand Hotel is the perfect location for so much to do and see plus Charing Cross station is a stones throw away

Upon pulling up in front of hotel no one came out to help get the luggage up the stairs.
Room was not designed for women. No mirror for a woman to do hair or makeup at the desk in the room. Couldn’t dry hair in the bathroom no plug. Room was poorly designed.
Great location if you don’t blow dry or style your hair. We walked everywhere.

We were on the 7th floor and it was exceedingly quiet. Despite being so close to Tralfalgar and all the bars and theaters, we hardly heard any street noise at night.

Very clean room. Location is incredible for access to central London - literally 5 mins walk to the tube station. The room was spacious but I was in the top floor which had very small windows so the room was quite dark. No issues if you’re not planning to spend a lot of time in your room. The bed was quite soft - just be aware if you like a firmer bed. Nice amenities in the room.

the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were old, but clean and functional. The only caveat was the restaurant - the food was good, and the prices were equivalent to the rest of the Central London restaurants, but they were out of a lot of common things - cabernet sauvignon wine, etc. - and the staff was not especially friendly - but again, this seems to be common at the Central London restaurants we visited. By far the best part of our visit was the hotels location - it was a 3 minute walk to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and Parliament, a n 8 minute walk to St. James part and Buckingham Palace - and it is close to the Strand and Charing Cross shopping/restaurant areas - there is even an excellent Waterstone's bookstore directly across the street - where you can get a great, and inexpensive, latte.

The location is perfect for our need and all the sightseeing we wanted to do. The amenities like the lounge with hot beverages were just what we needed in the morning. The refillable plastic bottle for water was very helpful.
Launderette was a plus since we have a long vacation and was able to do laundry with soap provided as well for free.
We did did eat breakfast at the hotel,
The only issue we had was the day we wanted our room clean, it was unfortunately missed but , they did come come the next day and all was fine .
