Such an old building , no air conditioning. Doors and windows are difficult to use. Illogical room set up, fridge in a cabinet blocking all circulation thus it couldn't get cold. No screens on windows so bugs flew in all the time, bathroom with no place to hang towels or toilet paper. The only nice thing was the included breakfast.

Not suitable for London Summers as there is no AC

Not a suitable property to stay during summers. NO Air conditioning - rooms are suffocating to stay without AC in London Summer seasons - Nights are terrible. Also no lift means that anyone who stays 2nd floor or above with luggage will have a terrible time taking the luggage up or down.

We rented 2 rooms. We had a bed bug experience in one family room but was moved to another family room that same night. The location is great. Walking distance to the tube. Safe area. The breakfast was nice. Our room was upstairs so it was quiet. The other room was in the basement and they mentioned they could hear the trains but not enough to keep them awake.

Great Notting Hill hotel

This hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood in the Notting Hill area. Front desk was wonderful & let us check in early & was always responsive to any questions. It is easy to get to the Underground which makes traveling in London a breeze. Great experience & I would stay there again.

Tube runs under hotel......

Very nice staff clean room The only thing there is a tube (subway) that runs under the hotel and my husband timed it and it was about every three minutes. During the day it didn't bother us because we were out but the tube ran til 12 at night. Also no elevator. It is a house made into a hotel. Very nice area laundry mat down the road which is handy when traveling.

The location was great! Felt very safe walking around as a female traveler, (the neighborhood is beautiful) and it was quite close to the metro station. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and overall nice. We stayed in the triple room and the pull out bed was actually very comfortable. Would stay here again in a future visit to London for sure!

Convenient for what we needed as we were partaking in the Marathon, was not one bit worth £169 though. Room was dirty, cold and noisy. Breakfast was so basic but it did for what we needed. Wouldn’t stay again though. Shame as the area and building is beautiful. It’s just not kept properly and looks cheap.

It was a very clean and nice hotel. Located in a nice area and Very close to tube station. I also loved the garden as well. The staff was very kind and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom looks renovated and very nice. The only thing is; our room was below the ground floor because we needed a room for 5 people, we could hear the underground trains but it wasn’t so bad because we were already very tired and fell asleep :) Overall it was a very good value for money.

The Hotel is in a very nice quiet location but very close to Tube & Bus routes. Room was clean and reasonably well equipped but getting dated. The one desk chair was very shabby and should be disposed of.
Room was quiet at night and the bed very comfy but only one pillow per person for the two of us.
We will definitely use this hotel again as it was overall good value.

Would stay again- that’s the main thing.
Room could have done with a refurb as there were marks all over the walls and patched holes, but a big plus for me was that it was quiet. Breakfast was minimal but did the job. Really convenient for the central line. Felt safe.

Blue Bells Hotel is in Notting Hill on a quiet neighborhood street. There is a lovely park across the street. While it is not too far up into Notting Hill to be remote, it's a little bit of a walk down to the TUBE station, restaurants, shops and activities. For those wanting to be more in the action, this would not be the property for you! Our first impression upon meeting the reception staff would be considered almost borderline rude - our room would not be ready by 2:00 pm - and we were summarily dismissed. We had to ask where we could go to wait. We were begrudgingly told we could wait in the other room (dining/lounge area) but we didn't get that information until we kept asking.The reception counter had a different individual there every day and no real, genuine connection to the staff. MAJOR DRAWBACK: There is no lift nor handicapped access at the property so a 5th floor room with luggage can be challenging. Also, there was no flexibility with the breakfast time. Other properties we've stayed at would've modified the schedule for the holiday time (make it a little later like 7:30-10 am) but there was no such thing and they closed breakfast even earlier on weekends (when people would've wanted to sleep in and eat later!) We would much rather have stayed at a mediocre hotel with fabulous, friendly staff, than in a hotel with not-friendly staff. We will not stay there again when we return to London!

The hotel is very nice and the room too. The only problem is that they don't give you the main door's key, so FROM MIDNIGHT TO 6 IN THE MORNING YOU CAN'T ENTER IN THE HOTEL. I was shock about this, the first evening the receptionist was very nice and he grant me to stay out until 2, but really I'm felt like Cinderella!

Great quite location in Notting Hill! Short walk to start of famous Portobello Market. Stayed in a nearby apartment for the rest of our stay in London on a main road and that was very noisy! Room was clean and cozy. Would definitely stay again!

Nice hotel only a few minutes walk from Notting Hill Gate underground station which is on the district, circle and central line. Restaurants and Kensington gardens close by.
I was staying with 3 children and had a lovely big room with a fridge which was handy.
We were on the ground floor and were aware of the underground during the night but not enough to bother us. Staff were friendly and breakfast was basic but fine for us.

Excellent location, on a private square and only a couple of blocks to Notting Hill Gate tube station and the building is a grand 19th century mansion. Staff was very helpful. There is no elevator and the building is four stories high, so rooms on upper floors require a bit of stair climbing.

Good location

The hotel is slowing updating their furniture so it’s a lot nicer than the photos. We were in London in the extreme heat so the room was very hot even with a fan. There is no A/C. The breakfast was nice with self serve toast and cereal. Coffee was not good, take the tea. The hotel is an easy walk to the Notting Hill station, and nice area to walk around like the Portebello Market.

The hotel has a great location on a quiet street with many bars and restaurants within walking distance. Very close to Notting Hill and Portobello market.
The room was spacious but the bathroom was tight. The hotel is under construction and there were signs of unfinished projects all over. We reserved a room for 4 adults and got one bed and one tiny sofa bed. After speaking with reception they brought a twin bed into the room the next day which made the room a little tight .The mini fridge did not work and some of the lights did not work either. The first day was very hot and since they did not have AC they brought in a fan which helped a little. The towels were small and old and they only gave us 1 hand towel for 4 people. Was a little weird.
Continental breakfast was OK. and was included in the price. Most of the staff was nice . Overall I would recommend staying in this hotel.

Really good location. Unfortunately my room wasn’t ready (which I had to inform them of after going into room with key) and I’d come on a long flight so I think I ended up with a room that wasn’t as good. Breakfast was okay but a little bit of change would be good as I had the same breakfast 9 times!! The safe wasn’t working. It is a great location and the overall standard was good and the cleaning staff were lovely.

The hotel is perfectly placed for the Notting Hill and Kensington Gardens areas. My bedroom had a comfortable bed and wide screen TV (with good reception). The bathroom was very clean and had a powerful shower.The carpet was in good condition (looked new) but the bedroom furniture (tables and wardrobe) were rather shabby. The stair carpet has definitely seen better days and was frayed in places. The continental breakfast was very good and was served in a lovely room overlooking the Pembridge Gardens. I would be very happy to stay at this hotel again.

Well worth it.

The hotel was in an excellent location with the room clean but forget to top up with conditioner and then no water one morning but resolved quickly. Ask for updated rooms as one of our rooms was very small and not modern. Otherwise staff friendly, breakfast very basic, price good, recommend.

Cute hotel in a 19th century townhouse.

We were looking for a hotel that was walking distance zone 1 tube station, had an ensuite bathroom, two separate beds and wasn't too expensive. The room was small but we loved the aesthetic of the hotel and enjoyed the included breakfast. It was very convenient to walk to Nottinghill Gate Station. If you're a budget traveller looking for a nice place, this is it. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

I had explained on booking that i was disabled and could walk up only few stairs. So they put me on the top floor where we had to go up about 60 steps to get to the room.A very basic room. But lii the night staff was concerened and very kindly got us a room on the first floor. This made life easier. But the bin and the bedding had not been changed and the first night the toilet was blocked. again the staff were very good and polite and did their best to sort it out by the next day. The hotel is a little run down, the staff are wonderful, the breakfast good,the rooms basic. But the hotel is in a great area,and for what we paid I am satisfied. Would I go back.?. Have to think hard about it hoping that the owners do some improvements to the place ,and plumming, and not put me on the 3rd floor again!!!

The location of this charming hotel is perfect; an easy walk from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood. The staff was wonderfully kind, helpful and gracious. The building is undergoing some renovations, so parts of it were a little shabby, but it's clear that improvements are being made and I don't doubt it will be beautiful when it's finished.
The breakfast was delicious, if quite basic and the current serving locations is a little cramped, but again, I expect that renovations will improve this.
The only thing close to a complaint that I have is that the pillows are atrociously thin and floppy, but perhaps some people prefer that.
I would recommend this hotel quite heartily and wish I could see it when the work they're doing is done.

The hostess who greeted us was amazing, super friendly and helpful about all the questions we had.
The breakfast in the morning was alright, croissants, ham, cheese, jam, toast and a couple different cereals and juice.The free coffee all day was great.
The room was small and a bit cramped for me and my boyfriend but it did the job. Overall it was a pretty good stay! No real complaints

Great place for a budget hotel.

This hotel has a wonderful location in a beautiful Notting Hill neighbourhood. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the tube and 10 minutes from Portobello Market.

The staff are really lovely and helpful, the breakfast is basic but what we needed and the bedrooms are relatively small but comfortable.

Given how little we paid, we couldn't have been happier - location, breakfast included, nice room with bathroom and TV and clean.

Highly recommended if you're on a budget.

I was travelling to London alone so didn't require much for my stay. The hotel's location is great; right in posh Nottinghill and on both the Central and Circle lines. The hotel exterior blends in. The room itself was a bit like a dorm room with a bed, TV, table, and chair, but was very clean and all I needed for my stay. The bathroom was a surprise. It looked like it was recently renovated and was very modern and clean with both a tub and shower. For a 3 star, I was pleased to note it had a hair dryer and complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was also a pleasant surprise made up of coffee, tea, juice, cheese and meat slices, croissants, toast, and fruit. Again, more than I expected for a 3 star and it got me well started on my day. The staff were pleasant, but strictly adhered to the 2pm check in time. They were fine with leaving luggage behind until then. My only other request was for an iron which they readily provided. I would suggest anyone with disabilities makes that clear when booking. My room was 4 floors up, and there wasn't an elevator. Even though I was travelling light, the walk up the stairs with my luggage was a bit of an effort. The common areas are definitely tired looking, but my plans were to explore London, not hang out in a hotel. Anyone expecting a more refined accommodation experience should look in that direction and expect to pay for it. Overall, the hotel was an excellent value for its location, private room and bath and breakfast.

Nice Location, hotel is not used to online booking

Unfortunately our check in was very complicated. I emailed the hotel the day before stating we would arrive later in the evening due to the timing of our train. I then received a call on the day of check in at 10 pm stating our room was double booked for 1 night and we were put up in a different hotel with a lower star rating for the night.
When we arrived the next day after spending the night in a different hotel, which appeared to be a converted hostel, our luggage was stored in an un-secure room as our room wasn't ready. I then negotiated lowering the price of our stay which was acceptable and appreciated due to the inconvenience.
The hotel is a converted victorian style home and is actually very nice. Room was secure and bathroom newly renovated. Breakfast was bread, cheese and ham slices, you had to ask if you wanted it toasted. It was free however.
The other unfortunate experience was check out. We were not given any instructions and when we asked for a taxi to be scheduled for us at an early morning pick up it was said to be arranged. The staff was not in the office that early in the morning and so I left the key under the door.
The taxi did not arrive and after 15 minutes we called our own taxi.
Overall if their booking system is updated or better managed and they have more clear instructions upon check in this would be an adequate hotel to stay in.
Locked luggage rooms would also be an easy renovation.

Needs some improvement but good for a cheap hotel!

For the price paid, this hotel wasn't terrible but I did expect a little more. No wardrobe to hang up my suits for my business trip and the tea, coffee and milk was not always replaced. The window wouldn't shut and the door was difficult to open until I learnt the trick to it. Breakfast was nothing special but if like me you are happy with a crossiant in the morning it's not a problem.

Standard room in lovely quiet area inside great looking building. Easy access to variety of transport and great for our short theatre/shopping break.

Hotel needs general TLC throughout however for the location and size of the room it cannot be beaten for equivalent price.

The room and communal areas could do with touching up and updating which would give the interior the same appeal as the exterior and surrounding area (prime example is wardrobe door was missing in room) however cannot complain for the price paid. Ideal for a quick overnight stop in Central London.

Didn't bother with very basic breakfast offered and reception staff were efficient enough but the room was clean and bed was comfy.

If you're looking for convenient stay in a room better than you'd expect for the cost then Blue Bells, Notting Hill cannot be beaten for price.

Somewhat disappointing

Rooms are very tired - furniture scratched, chipped and worn out. Room smelt very musty. Got the central heating turned on and went out - came back and it had been turned off!!! Continental breakfast which was very ordinary. For some reason with a name like a Blue Bells I expected something bright, breezy and maybe a nice lady in a pinny - wrong!

Avoid if possible

Reasonably priced, nice residential neighborhood, close to some shopping and the tube. However, we were in room G3 which shares the hallway with reception and a wall with the public lounge and kitchen. You can hear everything that goes on in the lounge and in reception. The staff all talk LOUD when in the hallway or in reception. The guests in the lounge can't know, but the staff should be courteously cognisant of guests staying in G3 and they should keep their voices down, The desk staff was watching tv LOUD at 12:43 AM! I had to go out and ask him to turn it down, There was NO HEAT during the night and I was freezing. If reception is not staffed, you have to call someone and i did not have a phone. The pillows are flat and hard. There is only one outlet for guest use in the room, only 4 hangars in the closet, an empty light socket in the bathroom, & no bath mat.

Very sad with potential

The Hotel is under renovation, but not described that way on their website. The carpet is horrendous with heavy tape over threadbare places on the stairs, no doubt worn out by having to drag your suitcase up the stairs because there is no lift. Our bathroom was under construction, so to speak, with wiring for a bathroom light over the sink, but without the light fixture. The toilet paper holder was a pipe coming out of the floor. The room was spacious with a beautiful large bay window and very high ceilings. We had plenty of room to spread out. The furniture could use some paint or refinishing to make it charming, but there is potential here. The carpet desperately needs to be replaced. The breakfast offerings could use some pastry or muffins. There is no lobby. The one staff member we encountered, a student, was very helpful and got us a car for our trip to the Eurostar. The young ladies in the breakfast room were nice. Great neighborhood and we felt safe in our hotel and walking around. Once the property is spiffed up, it will be a decent place to stay.

A rare find in London

We had a group of seven and this hotel was one of the few that could fit four people per room. The rooms were large (our room had a double and three singles), clean, and had good bathrooms and showers. Four people easily fit into the room. There is a separate storage room for bags if you need it -- we used it for our large bags. Staff was very friendly, responsive, and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for its room size, cleanliness, good wifi, friendly staff, and great location one block from the action of Notting Hill Gate.

Great location, good price, nice staff

Very well located in beautiful Notting Hill, 3 minutes to the underground station, 20 minutes walking to the train station, close to restaurants, shops and Portobello street fair. Love the place and the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. They serve breakfast, which is OK, it just need some fresh fruit.

Great location, decent price

A bit shabby around the edges, bathroom very basic, room nice size for 2 adults and 2 kids. Biggest negative was the floors creaked a lot and we could hear people walking above us in the night.

Didn't get to see inside of the room

Unfortunately the hotel never reserved our spot though they did receive our expedia reservation 4 months in advance. This was our first leg of a long foreign travel trip, not a great way to start, especially business summer season. The hotel clerk did managed to find us an alternative accommodation for same price for our family of 4 and covered cost of our cab to new hotel. Blue Bells was bright and airy but unfortunately we never had the chance to stay.
