The rooms were clean and they had a nice balcony. There was no kettle in the room, but there is a free hot drink machine in the lounge. Staff were extremely helpful and the nearby amenities were good. There is two tube stations about a 10 minute walk away and there are loads of bus stops nearby.

Super friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone I encountered throughout my 4 night stay, whether it be maintenance staff, housekeeping, or the people on reception, was lovely!!!!!! Great price. I stayed in a double single room, definitely enough space for you person. Great location, short walk to various tube stations, variety of shops and restaurants. Look forward to returning soon.

The check in process was quick and easy. I was able to check straight into my room, a couple of hours early.
Unfortunately, I was given a room downstairs, under the stair case and right next to the breakfast room. This meant the stairs were load and hallway noisy until 0100 and loud voices were heard from the dining space for breakfast from 0600-1000 which was very frustrating. Without a doubt, the worst room in the hotel I’m sure.
Breakfast was described as included and the main selling point of the hotel, but unfortunately just continental. Limited to 4 items (including drink and additional butter / jam etc). Further cooked food came at a cost. Also, my second day, I was told to return as there were no tables free as I followed the instructions at the door and “waited to be seated”. 3 different groups then came in and sat down by themselves, despite me standing there. When I then did the same thing after waiting 10 minutes, I was told to move. Staff were very slow to respond to requests.
Location is perfect. Great restaurants and shops nearby. Walking distance to lots of tube stops.

Appalling customer service . Took 12 hours for a ‘prompt’ reply in messaging . Had to walk 150 to check in then 150 back to the annex then 150 to go and get water ; couldn’t go in coffee room as kids throwing cushions around . Bloke on reception did nothing. Breakfast was rubbish and staff were miserable in attitude - worst hotel in London

The hotel gave our room away to someone else by mistake (that's what the manager said), then didn't have any other room to offer us, so they booked us in a nearby hotel (not as good), with no breakfast (which we paid for) so we had to come back in the morning to the Lords Hotel to get some breakfast. We've not been offered any compensation as we had to wait around a lot for them to sort it all out when they realised the trainee receptionist made a mistake. It was a stressful start of our stay in London.

Not recommended! Stay away from this hotel! I booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 1 night. But never got a refund for the cancelled 2 nights.
There’s no elevator (lift)! We were given the last room which was the small attic!!!! we had heavy luggages and could not carry them up to the attic, and there’s no luggage storage either. The front desk person told us we can leave our luggages in the “sitting room” where other guests gather together for coffee or just sit down together. It was embarrassing to open our luggages with a group of people sitting there.
Our room was a tiny attic-converted-bedroom:3 small beds, I kept hitting my head on the slopey ceiling when I go to bed. The shower was so tiny, it had a folding door so you can go in & out. It didn’t close well either so the water from the shower leaks through the door. it was a nightmare taking a shower after a long tiring flight!
We had to look for a nicer hotel that same night we checked in! Thank God we found a much nicer hotel with elevator and friendlier staff a couple blocks away.
The front desk person was not friendly either.

Clean room, in a quiet part of town, room functions as expected for a 2 star hotel! Friendly helpful staff. Everything was well thought out in the room, but the pillows could be thicker and the bed was just long enough for me at 5”7. I am picky with cleanliness and it was very good! Breakfast was limited but you were able to get 4 items from the menu for free, speedy service (I was there for 8:30) but it was full by 9 so better to go a little earlier if you can. Overall a pleasant stay that I appreciated, would stay again if in the area.

A clean and tidy hotel in a nice area of London not far from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Friendly staff and good breakfast choices. Modernised bathroom but room otherwise a bit bland. No tea coffee making facilities is a shame, and the TV was ancient! But otherwise it was ok, particularly as it is cheaper than most London hotels.

I didn't have high hopes after reading some reviews. But I was very gladly surprised! Staff are very kind, the rooms are clean (except for the fact that i have animosity against carpets), the beds were comfortable enough, considering its not a 4*hotel. You get what you pay, in this case, in my experience, more! The breakfast was acceptable, small room, but didnt have to wait either morning, and we were 6! Freshly baked croissants, milk, cereals, toasts... i cant say I liked the coffee though. BUT! And I can't believe I didn't see this in any review: there is a lounge in the groundfloor with a coffee/hot chocolate machine you can use for free!
I recommend this small and underrated hotel 100%.
One negative aspect would be the stairs being quite narrow, and no lift, but they are very open about that, after all, its an beautiful old building.

AVOID THIS HOTEL!

Absolutely shocking customer service from this hotel. I unfortunately had a two night stay here while working in London.

I booked a 'Superior Double Room' but when I had walked up five flights of stairs to my room it was anything but 'Superior'. I was actually put in a 'Standard Single Room' with no working television set.

I walked all the way down the stairs to the front desk to explain and the man on reception confirmed I wasn't in the room I paid for. I asked to be moved into another room and he said that wasn't possible (even though Superior Dbl Rooms were available on the Hotels.com app for that night!) I showed him that the type of room I paid for was still available and he just said again “it’s not possible”.

He also said someone would come and fix the TV set - that never happened either!

This was NOT the service I paid for and the hotel are refusing to refund anything towards their own incompetence or lack of help trying to rectify the situation.

The online rep from Hotels.com was initially helpful but they are not claiming any responsibility despite being booked through their website.

How is a business allowed to sell you something, fail to deliver and then charge you full amount - it's disgusting.

As a solo traveller on a weekend break the Lords Hotel was an ideal base for me. Located near Queensway & Bayswater Stations just a matter of Underground stops away from Marble Arch & Oxford Circus it meant that Central London was within easy reach. With Hyde Park, Notting Hill & the local shops, cafés & restaurants of Bayswater nearby too I was very happy with the hotel location.

My single room (No 26) was fairly small & basic but had everything I needed for my brief stay. It was clean, comfortable, airy & had a street view. There is no lift so room access on the 2nd & 3rd floors is by stairs only. Breakfast was ample with an option of a cooked meal for an extra fee. All the staff I encountered were polite & helpful.

Only downside for us really was being on the top floor it was very warm and with no lift and an increasing cramped winding set of stairs to reach the top floor it would not suit less ambulant guests.

My stay at the Lords Hotel was fine. The staff were fantastic, and the location was perfect. My room was clean, but it was basic and a little dated.

The room did have a hairdryer and a modern TV, with wifi access. The shower was not the best and was small for me. However, if you want a place to crash, breakfast, near Hyde Park, then you can't go wrong.

Budget hotel/good value for money

After spending a night at Lords, these are my impressions after reading all the positive and negative comments: those who wish to stay here should read ALL the information provided by the location beforehand so that they have no reason to comment or complain afterwards. It is a budget hotel, not the Ritz, Savoy, or Shangri-La. I find the price/quality ratio reasonable. The room was perfect for one night: clean, with a view of the park, a fan, and a heater in the room, depending on the season. The rooms could be improved with a minimal investment, but probably there is no money, or the management does not want this, such as: a kettle, mugs, tea bags, cups, instant coffee, one or two biscuits.
Do not have any expectations for breakfast, as you will you likely be disappointed. Breakfast consists of 2 slices of toast bread, 2 small tins of jam, a small piece of butter, instant coffee/tea, a glass of juice, a croissant, and that's all. You must pay extra for anything else; it was a maximum of £5/person if I remember right. Breakfast could be improved substantially with minimal investment, as there is potential and space, but I repeat, I don't think the management is willing to do this.

Basic and Bare Minimum – Fine for Work, but Wouldn’t Recommend for a Holiday

I stayed at Lord’s Hotel for work and honestly, it served its purpose — but only just. It’s very basic, offering the bare minimum. The reception is staffed, and the cleaners seem to be the same people switching out the rooms. Some were friendly, others not so much.

Cleanliness was acceptable, nothing to complain about there. The room, however, was tiny, with a single hard bed and not even a kettle provided. For what I paid, even considering it’s London, it felt overpriced.

The shower had poor water pressure and the temperature control was awful — it was either scalding hot or freezing cold, no middle ground. The breakfast was very limited: just a drink, toast, cereal, and a croissant, with a strict limit of four items.

If you’re just looking for a bed while on a work trip and don’t plan to spend any time in your room, it might do the job. But if I’d booked this for a holiday, I’d have been really disappointed.

I booked this hotel as it was less than half the price of chain hotels for the same dates in London so I expected it to be basic. I hadn't appreciated the hotel was split over multiple sites though, so had to walk about 100m between reception and breakfast, and my room. I was then on the fourth floor with no air conditioning and very narrow stairways to access the room. There was a large gap under the door so you could hear any noise outside the room, and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest. There was thankfully a decent freestanding fan in the room, but during a heatwave it just wasn't enough. The staff were all very friendly.

Absolutely the worst hotel ever!

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We booked 2 nights and were tempted to go home after the first night. There was no air conditioning and we had 30degree weather. We asked for a fan and were told they don’t give them. The room was like an oven. We had to go and buy a fan at 7pm at night. Not easy! When we eventually got to bed it got even worse. You could feel the springs through the mattress. We had the most uncomfortable nights sleep ever. (If you can call it sleep) we asked for a mattress topper and were told they don’t have one (of course) so we had to sleep on top of the quilt the next night so that we didn’t feel the springs so much. There was no kettle, the tv remote didn’t work, there was no toilet roll holder. The communal “lounge” was a joke. There was a tea and coffee machine but it was disgusting, there were ants crawling all over the worktop and over the sugar. Drinks spilt everywhere and never cleaned up. This hotel was in a nice area of London but the standard was more suited to the slums. Never again! Avoid!

Could have given this an average rating if it wasn't for the disturbance by the maid after 11am checkout even though I had prepaid for late checkout (2pm). Pretty much get what you pay for but the free breakfast is only for tea/coffee & toast. Bacon, Sausage, Eggs etc has to be paid for additionally. Bathroom was very small & if you are unlucky you have to climb 4 sets of stairs to get to your room. Also, if you want to put your baggage into a secure room on the day of your check out you also have to pay for this which I found a bit odd. The staff were friendly and I cant blame them for the downside of the hotel.

It is the first time staying here and i was surprised at Check in when the guy on reception said your room is in another building 100 metres up the road. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this is a first.
Then another first was breakfast the next morning, we were shown to a table and given a list with the following:
Yogurt or Cornflakes w/ milk
Toast Brown or white bread 2 slices
W/ butter and jam
Croissant w/ butter and jam
Coffee, Tea or Orange juice.
Then told to pick 4 items for breakfast.
There were then extra options which had to be paid for.
Normally when I go to a hotel there is a buffet or a choice of English or Continental breakfast.
The room was very clean and tidy, the shower was very good with strong pressure.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

Our room was in a completely different building a block away from the actual hotel we booked. Had to walk a block every morning to get breakfast. Our room was on 4th floor with no elevator. No help bringing luggage up to our rooms. Room was extremely old and decrepit. The whole floor of the room was slanted. Nasty old carpet in the room which smelled bad. Literally the worst hotel I ever stayed in. The breakfast was only 4 items, the rest was at additional cost. And the bill always came and had to be paid while you are eating your meal. Every single day they would stop us from eating our meal and want us to pay them. Not like everywhere else where the check comes at the end of your meal. Would definitely stay away from this hotel.

Family of 5 from North Yorkshire . Room was very sufficient for our needs basically just to sleep in was out exploring. Breakfast was good purchased 3 full Englishes at £8 each was really good value. The free continental breakfast was also good as me and mrs didn’t want full English. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Felt really safe in the area as we got back late both nights. You have most shops within an 5 min walk tescos McD’s Starbucks etc. tube station is same 5 min walk. All in all very happy with our stay and will be using again when we visit London.

I was really disappointed with the stay here, it is no more than a backpackers hostel, the stairs are very narrow and dangerous, the coffee/tea machine was always out of order with the bin beside consistently overflowing with rubbish. The staff don't know how to smile, perhaps they're not paid well enough. Overall I wouldn't recommend.

Beds are quite uncomfortable and rooms are tight. The building also had a plumbing issue that forced us to switch rooms, though we were upgraded due to the inconvenience. So no real foul there.

Great location. Quiet. Safe. A good home base if you’re looking to spend the bulk of your time exploring.

The breakfast experience was disappointing and ideally should come with a detailed menu outlining the offerings. Additionally, it would be beneficial for the accommodation to be conveniently located near the station, allowing for effortless exploration of the surrounding area. Furthermore, the shower facilities were inadequately small.

The hotel staff were polite but never smiled, except for one person at the reception. The hotel seemed to prioritize making money. There was no safe box in the room, and guests had to pay to use the safe box near the reception. Towels were only changed every 4 days, and there was an additional fee if you wanted them changed earlier. The sheets were not changed during our one week of stay. Breakfast only included 4 complimentary items. The fruits and eggs provided were very small, and the portion of orange juice was hardly 50 ml.

For the money this was fine. Check in was fast room was small and very basic painted wood chip on the walls and utilitarian furniture.
Shower was excellent and bed was comfy.
No ac but the window opened wide.
Included free breakfast was basic but also fine.
Good value for money for location.

Great Stay

It was a great place to stay and very reasonably priced. Customer service was great, the shower broke and i reported it in the morning and it was fixed before we returned in the afternoon. It was clean and the breakfast was great. There was alot of stairs to climb to get to our room but it was ok... not a great place to stay if you ave mobility issues though. All in all its basic but i would definitely stay again price was great for what you got.
