Positives: The hotel is clean and well-maintained, even if the rooms feel dated. The gym is basic and the beach unfortunately out of commission due to seaweed, the drinks and entertainment staff were fantastic. The breakfast buffet was also perfectly fine, and the Asian restaurant was genuinely decent.

Service: Unfortunately the restaurant service elsewhere was exceptionally poor. Servers were incredibly slow and frequently forgot orders, forcing me to grab my own drinks after waiting 15 minutes at an empty table. Due to severe understaffing, we faced 60-90min waits for restaurants that were half-empty inside. To make matters worse, daily weddings routinely closed off dining venues to regular guests.

Food: Aside from an okay Italian and the decent Asian restaurant, the food was dreadful and rarely served warmer than lukewarm.

Steakhouse: Mediocre at best—expect small portions and zero input on how your steak is cooked.
Mexican: Consistently empty with terrible service. The food was completely unseasoned, which is baffling for a Mexican restaurant failing to cook its own local cuisine.
Fish: Unpleasant lunch and dinner with calamari that clearly came straight from a freezer.

I have realistic expectations for all-inclusives, but the food here was so disappointing we regularly took an Uber to nearby Puerto Morelos just to ensure we had at least one decent meal a day.

We really enjoyed the resort - the food was great and the employees were very friendly and helpful.

Everyone was really nice and the staff learned your name the day. They were always welcoming and called you by your name. The rooms were really clean and the housekeeping service was always on top of it. My steamer didn’t work and within 15 mins they brought me an iron.

The hotel overall was maintained and the staff were super friendly! The areas for improvement are for the plunge pools, ours had a bunch of the stuff falling from the trees that it would hurt the bottom of our feet. The food at this hotel was okay, we have had been to all inclusives with better food.

Clean amenities, stocked mini bar, pool activities were great too and something to do daily.
Only thing was a sewer like smell especially in the morning after showers.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel and loved absolutely everything! I traveled with my two daughters, aged 6 and 10, and it was truly a perfect vacation for both adults and children.

From the moment we checked in, everything was organized so well and the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent with a great variety every day, and the restaurants were wonderful. The animation team did a fantastic job — my daughters were excited and entertained all the time!

Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and always spotless. Housekeeping cleaned every day and everything was perfectly maintained. The hotel is incredibly clean and very family-friendly.

This was one of the best vacations we’ve ever had, especially for the kids. We will definitely come back again! Highly recommended!

The resort was mostly quiet and not overly crowded while I was there, which I appreciated. However, they were very pushy about the Hyatt Unlimited Club even after being told no multiple times. It basically felt like being pressured into a prepaid timeshare presentation when most people are just trying to enjoy their vacation — especially while traveling with a toddler and in this economy.

I also felt like some amenities weren’t properly explained or met, such as the free bag and room service timing. Another downside was how badly people hoarded pool chairs. It was hard to find somewhere to sit or even place our belongings, even when many chairs clearly weren’t being actively used.

There were also a few moments where other guests became overly loud in areas that were otherwise calm and relaxing. Overall, the resort was decent, but there were a few things that took away from the experience.

The food is unpalatable, so please pack protein bars. The rooms are clean, but the pools are not. There is no chlorine smell and there is a ton of debris floating. Be careful—some bars switch out the premium liquor for preferred members for cheap stuff. The beach preferred club bar did that to us during our stay.

It was a nice appearance when I arrived. The room was great but the beds were very hard. I had brought my daughter to the kid water park on site which was a great idea but wasn’t well maintained at all. The steps were rusted and the rubber was coming off of the play structure exposing the kids to metal and the pool surface tiles were falling off. I got food poisoning from the seafood restaurant and had to miss my massage appointment. The next day I wanted a salad so I went to the buffet and there I had found a moldy cucumber in my salad so I threw the whole thing away and didn’t eat on the property for the rest of my stay. Upon check in they had offered me a golden ticket (200$) credit that I never received. They also asked if I would like aroma therapy and I agreed and selected lavender but did not receive that for any of the days I was there and I later realized it was definitely needed due to excessive sargassum. When I was checking out they tried to charge me 200$ for the massage I didn’t receive and I missed my flight due to them arguing that I needed to pay just to turn around and retract the statement as more guests came in. Also I had called ahead of time because it was me and my partners 5year anniversary and I requested they do something special nothing major a card would have been nice. They agreed on the phone and I brought it up again at check in and never got anything special I felt played if that wasn’t possible I feel that could have been stated. Go elsewhere!

Room was clean but hallways could be picked up more (Dirty room service trays). No top shelf liquor was a problem, and everyone was trying to sell you something; upgrade your room, your club status, selling oils at the spa, etc. the biggest issue was not being able to swim on the beach due to seaweed. If the staff wasn’t so fabulous, the trip would have been a total loss.

Pool / Beach: Pool chairs were all gone by 8am. There are cabanas that take up all the space and they charge you $200-$250 per day for them depending on who you talk to.
The beach due to all of the seaweed was gross. They try to clean it up but there is so much of it. If you want a nice beach to walk on this is not the place. The smell was also awful.

Food: We’ve visited a number of all-inclusives in Mexico and DR and this is the worst food we’ve ever experienced. Menus were not good, food not even appetizing and our son got food poisoning and missed two days of our trip sick in the room.

Overall: This resort is tired and underwhelming. The staff is very polite but service is not above and beyond at all. It seems that they get their business from destination weddings. We booked preferred and it seems as though they expanded the preferred and have given it to nearly everyone. Our room was definitely nothing special.

We had an incredible stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun and were honestly blown away. My wife and I typically travel to higher-end resorts, so we came in with tempered expectations—but this place exceeded them in every way.

The staff was exceptional—genuinely friendly, attentive, and always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding across the board, which is not always a given at all-inclusives. Every meal felt high quality and thoughtfully prepared.

The resort itself was spotless, well-maintained, and incredibly convenient—everything you could want was right at your fingertips, making it easy to truly relax.

What really stood out is how well the resort is tailored to families. Traveling with kids can sometimes feel stressful, but here it was the opposite. There are so many activities, kid-friendly amenities, and thoughtful touches that make it just as enjoyable for children as it is for adults.

Overall, this was one of the best resort experiences we’ve had. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier, family-friendly getaway.

FYI - get a poolside cabana EVERY DAY. It’s $100 for the day. It was a no-brainer for multiple reasons, especially if you have kids that need to get out of the sun for a little bit. You don’t have to fight chairs, it’s private and you have your own bartender. Ours was Israel. He was absolutely awesome all week.

The property was beautiful, we went during a season where the seaweed was all over the beach but they tired to clean it off in the mornings the best they could. I can’t say I had any food there that was amazing. We had a group of 9 and most of the restaurants (aside from the buffet) had a hard time seating us or flat out told us our group would be separated. The food service was very slow most of the time making the dinners extremely long. There were wedding every night we were there so not sure if they took all the wait staff. The activities / evening shows were not impressive. The resort also went without water for most of the day and there were no announcements or guidance, everyone just started noticing when they tried to go to the bathroom or asked why they were giving out paper cups. The kids explorer area is not something you can go in with your kid and play for a while, it is drop off only and although the teachers seemed very nice and kind I was not going to leave my daughter there which was really disappointing because seeing the pictures of it was one of the reasons why I picked the resort. There was nothing else for her age group aside from the pools and of course the sand so we made it work.

There were 5 of us (2 adults 3 kids) and we went for spring break. Would highly recommend this resort for family’s! The kids club was great and it gave us my wife and I a chance to go on dates. The pools were good, they had lots of activities planned throughout the day as well. Our rooms were kept nice and clean, the food was great, and everyone was really helpful. Would definitely recommend this place! We were all sad when it was time to go

Preferred check in was fast and easy. Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were nice. Food was good. Beach had quite a bit of seaweed but sounds like that was the case at most resorts. You have to get up early to get pool lounge chairs. Only other complaint was at El Patio our first night our main course never arrived. Luckily we ate so many appetizers it was okay but would have liked to have tried our main course meals. Overall a good trip.

If you choose resorts based on the beach experience, I won’t recommend Dreams Rivera Cancún. The resort was very well maintained, unfortunately, the seaweed situation was not well managed. We paid extra for the Preferred Club which put us right on the edge of the property which was next to a vacant property where the seaweed was permitted to build up and build up. They were using tractors and dump trucks to pull the seaweed out the week we were there and the smell was like death. We saw at least three dump truck loads of seaweed loaded up and it barely made a dent in the remaining seaweed. From our balcony, it was rancid smelling. The beach was even worse smelling, but it was near impossible to get a beach chair anyway. People would start saving chairs at 7 am, then not show up until 11 am or noon to actually use the chairs. If Dreams had the seaweed situation under better control, as well as the beach chair situation, this would have been a 5/5 review because the food, bars, staff, resort, rooms, entertainment, etc. were all on par with previous stays at Dreams.

It was very cold on the plane, and I had a hard time because I hadn’t brought a jacket. The resort was clean and spacious, and I enjoyed the delicious cuisine from various countries.
The staff were friendly. However, the air conditioning wasn’t working properly, so it was cold.

We took a chance trying a new resort and this did not disappoint. The resort is beautiful and the food was a pleasant surprise! Many options and all were very good. The staff is so friendly and they go above and beyond to make you feel at home. They always had activities to all ages around the pool. It felt a little crowded at first but we got used to it. I wish the view of the ocean was a little better but I think this is how most resorts are and that's not a deal breaker for us. Very beautiful resort. Some people didn't recommend this for couples without children but my husband and I really enjoyed it(we're 34&40). We would definitely like to come back here for another trip.

Weddings each night so very little entertainment for the hotel guest, just had the DJ music from the wedding receptions.
Overall, good value for the price but for myself, as a 50 year old looking to relax on vacation, this would not be a property we will return to

Overall, this is a good place to rest and relax. The staff was wonderful—every person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and professional. Service throughout the hotel was excellent, especially at the VIP Club, where the team was truly outstanding.

The food was okay, but the buffet could use more variety. I’ve been visiting Cancun for over 10 years and have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts, and one thing that stood out was the limited liquor selection. Some common brands, such as Maestro Dobel, were not available—even in the VIP area but sold at a ridiculous price during night events.

The nighttime entertainment could also be improved. Shows were scheduled during dinner hours, which made it difficult to enjoy them, especially when traveling with a large group. In addition, the lobby bar closing at 11 PM felt early for an all-inclusive resort.

Another inconvenience was that restaurants could not accommodate larger parties (12+ people) unless an extra fee was paid.

Despite these points, the excellent service from the staff made the stay enjoyable.

We booked a king room with tropical view. It was perfect. The rooms and laid out very nicely, and ones with a jetted tub in all of them. Bed was super comfy and staff went above and beyond. Turn down service was a nice surprise and room service included 24 hours a day was super tasty. Definitely recommend this resort. It does have a kids pool with a separate adults only pool. We went beginning of March so not a lot of kids, or was easy to avoid.

We had an ocean front suite, and it was perfect. Very private balcony and a beautiful view. The staff at this property couldn't be better. Everyone from check in, waiters, beach service, hostess, maids, bartenders, concierge. Everyone was so nice and attentive. This was our 2nd visit to this resort, and we do plan to return.

Not a dream, an absolute NIGHTMARE! Calling this is a 5 star resort is an absurd lie. All photos are digitally enhanced. 100% FALSE ADVERTISING. The bathrooms have wall-mounted beer bottle openers. Need I say more?

This place is absolute trash. I CRIED when we checked in. The room smelled of urine (staff didn’t help), walls are paper thin (you can literally hear a person clearing their throat), everything is dirty, old, food is atrocious! Nothing but WonderBread and composite-ham meat, even in the “VIP” lounge. Food is a cruel joke, seemingly designed to be so unappealing that no one dares go for seconds.

They pack people in this compound like cheap sardines and there’s hardly anywhere to even stand in the pool areas. Absurdly loud music blasts day and night. Mosquitos everywhere!! My 5 month old was nearly eaten alive INSIDE THE ROOM! All windows were closed! They do not spray the grounds!

We booked this place last-minute as all other nearby options were adults-only. Never staying at this type of place again. The “all-inclusive” concept draws the worst kind of people… everyone behaved like wild animals and seemed to suffer from an extreme scarcity mentality. Rude, disrespectful, disgusting.

We recently stayed at Dreams Riviera Cancun with the expectation of receiving the level of quality and service that the Dreams brand represents. Unfortunately, our experience fell significantly short of those standards. From the outset, there were issues with our room assignment. We had specifically booked a room with a jacuzzi on the porch, which was an important feature for our stay. Upon arrival, we were informed that due to a wedding on property, that room type was not available. While we understand that events take place at resorts, we do not believe that another guest’s event should impact a confirmed reservation. The alternative room provided did not reflect what we had reserved or paid for. Additionally, our room was located directly next to the housekeeping area. This proved to be both noisy and unpleasant. Being next to a service area created constant disruption, and the proximity to cleaning operations made the location feel inappropriate for a guest room in a resort of this caliber. Despite being next to housekeeping, our room was serviced only once during our stay. Having to repeatedly question basic housekeeping standards while physically adjacent to the housekeeping hub was both frustrating and concerning. We also experienced issues with food quality. While management did attempt to address our concerns after we escalated them and arranged special dining accommodations, even those arrangements fell short.

The rooms were great, very clean and well taken care of. All the staff were incredible, polite, and helpful. I did not give this five stars because the food was not good. The variety of restaurants is good but the steak we had at Seaside grill was gross, half of the clams in my meal at Oceana weren’t open which means they are not edible, the Mexican restaurant was the worst out of all of them with stale tortilla chips and bad entrees. We had our best meal at Boudreaux, however, one of the steaks for our group was rare when ordered medium. We didn’t have a chance to try Portofino because their wait was really long for a table.

Kid friendly, thats great but i must have missed that. Chairs were gone and reserved by 8am everyday. Also, hard pressure sales to come visit their secrets resorts as a part of their vacation club. Big turn off.

A mature, beautiful resort. What stood out was the service. From the time that we arrived, we were ushered through the check in steps effortlessly by Sergio and the check in team. Great restaurants, although the specialty restaurants were a bit chaotic (to be expected). Francisco in particular was exceptional. The Seaside Grill was our morning haven, sunrises with breakfast. Great fitness facilities.

Even though the resort is a bit older than others, it is better because of the maturity and professionalism of the team.

Just right for a 3-generations vacation.

Different levels of pools for all ages. Fairly consistent, good food. Sometimes hit and miss at the buffet. Overall nice and clean. Not too many activities. Which is what we like.

The rooms are great and the resort is beautiful, but the walls are thin and if you’re looking for something a little more quiet, this is probably not your place. If you’re looking for great beaches, good food lots of drinks then this is your place.

The food never disappoints at Dreams. This is our 6th Dreams we’ve been to and they have really shifted to cater to families with small children. I wouldn’t select this resort if you aren’t traveling with children, as there are no areas that are adults only. We had the preferred club and stayed in a king room with a plunge pool. The preferred benefits here only get you access to the preferred club and a small section of beach chairs. You do need to get up early to reserve chairs, as they get completely taken up by 9am across the whole resort. The service was wonderful and the rooms were very clean every day with fully stocked mini fridge. We did come to golf, which appeared to have included greens fees online, but that was not the case. We enjoyed our stay, but next time we’ll be booking at their adults only brand, Secrets.

I’ve stayed at multiple resorts in Cancun and this is by far my least favorite. I’d give this place a 2.5/5 stars. The resort itself was pretty and clean which i saw them cleaning everyday. Our room was nice and clean but like other resorts they would have your room cleaned early, but here they wouldn’t have it done sometimes until 9:00pm or I’d have to ask them. The biggest issues were food, service and beach. The food was most of the time very cold or inedible, the only place that was good was the Mexican restaurant but it would fill up extremely fast. Then their service lacked they seemed understaffed and sometimes very rude, the other resorts I’ve been to would go above and beyond and were extremely friendly. The beach was the biggest issue, I spend all my time at the beach swimming etc. Seaweed is understandable but the amount of trash this beach area it had was ridiculous, other resorts I’ve been too kept there beach areas extremely clean but this resort did not it had so much trash that you could collect a bag worth. An extra thing that I personally didn’t like was a huge tree by the restaurants that had a ton of bats, they would also fly around near the rooms sometimes. I personally don’t mind animals but they got pretty close too me and freaked me out. Overall it was pretty bad not horrible but for the money you pay you can personally find way better elsewhere. Only positive was it’s very family friendly.
