The ocean view room with the wraparound balcony had several big windows that provided beautiful ocean views. Unfortunately sitting on the balcony was not possible due to the wind off the ocean. Guests staying in the other rooms had walls on either side of their balconies that provided a wind break and they were able to enjoy their balconies.

Staff were excellent and the food exceeded my expectations. Only wish they had a shuttle from the airport. Getting a taxi was chaotic and expensive, US$120.
As for my provider Expedia, this package was advertised as 50% off. We spent $1250 Cdn / night expecting 5 stars and were disappointed to realize that others here were charged $750 Cdn / night and that it was a 4 star. Great place if you get it for $2000Cdn / person for the week. I feel like a chump

We stayed on property all eight days and were never bored — there was always something going on, and the evening entertainment was consistently enjoyable. The resort itself is beautiful and very well maintained, and the standard rooms were spacious with jetted tubs and private balconies that made relaxing easy. Dining was a major highlight. Every restaurant offered great variety and quality, and our entire group was always satisfied. The breakfast buffet in particular had one of the best selections we’ve seen at an all-inclusive. Service across the resort was friendly and attentive, and knowing a little Spanglish definitely enhances the experience.
The pool quickly became our favorite spot. Kids loved the waterslide and kids club, while the adults spent most of our time at the swim-up bar. IRVING, our bartender each day, truly made the trip special with outstanding service and energy. We were also impressed by the number of top-shelf liquor options throughout the resort.
Our only real frustration was the lobby bar, where long drink lines and limited seating wasted a surprising amount of time even during a slower travel period. We were also approached frequently about the Iberostar Club but were disappointed they would not allow us to review the contract in writing before signing. In all honesty, we likely would have joined if the process had been more transparent.
Overall, Iberostar delivered great food, strong amenities, and a perfect vacation. We would absolutely return!

Unfortunately, our experience at this resort was extremely disappointing.

The pool water was so cold that we couldn’t even enjoy swimming, and this was in the Mexican heat. The beach was another major letdown. The water was brown, full of seaweed, and the ground was rocky and unpleasant. It was honestly awful and very upsetting, especially considering we were looking forward to a relaxing beach vacation.

The food situation made things worse. Most of the food we received was cold, and the line at the grill was consistently long. At the Italian restaurant, we waited two full hours just to receive our food. The following day, we had to wait another two hours just to get a table at the Mexican restaurant. That’s an unreasonable amount of time to spend waiting while on vacation.

The entertainment was decent, but not offered everyday. Also seating was very limited. If you didn’t arrive very early, you had to stand to watch the show.

We were told the pool beds were $25 to rent, but no one mentioned the additional $30 in taxes and fees. We ended up paying close to $50, which felt misleading. On top of that, from the moment we stepped onto the property, we were repeatedly pressured by staff to attend a timeshare presentation, even after clearly stating we were not interested.

Overall, this was not the relaxing, enjoyable getaway we expected. For the price paid, the experience did not meet expectations. Very disappointed.

We stayed 10 nights as a couple and had a great overall experience. The resort had recently reopened under Iberostar, and while still working through some growing pains, it shows strong potential. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with good housekeeping, though we did have to switch rooms due to an AC issue. Food was outstanding—the best we’ve had at an all‑inclusive—with great variety, strong gluten‑free effort, and multiple dining options, though labeling and consistency could improve. Staff were friendly and attentive, with special thanks to Marlen, Alex, Irving, and Javier.
Entertainment included nightly shows and solid fitness programming, though the show rotation is short for longer stays. The beach is heavily eroded but well maintained; pool cabanas cost extra and pools are unheated. Excursions booked onsite were reliable and enjoyable, especially the catamaran and Isla Mujeres trip. The spa was relaxing but overpriced for the value. Other notes: road access includes an 800 m rough stretch, club membership sales are persistent, the gym is decent but limited, and some maintenance was ongoing but not disruptive.
Overall, excellent food, welcoming staff, and fun programming make this a strong resort with room to improve as it continues to settle under new ownership.

Room was okay and the food was average. The resorts needs some basic updates, lots of cracks and they were repairing the concrete ceiling outside of our room. The pools were nice, the beach was thin but still very nice.
What made the experience subpar was the staff pushing for the time share presentation. We were harassed when we got there and with many phone calls after. Other couples were approached at breakfast unexpectedly. They claimed it was 90 mins, one couple we chatted with went and it was 2.5 hours. The staff was pushy, rude and pressured each couple to attend even after saying no multiple times. Left a base taste

Check in time was way too long. They just look to get you in timeshare type of presentation and make you VIP member.
The beach is terrible and could not be even call the beach, water is brown with see grass all over. Not possible to swim in such ocean.
The only good thing is personal who clean hotel well and food at buffet restaurant. Getting into specialty restaurants is just wasting of time, at Italian restaurant took us 2.5 hours to get the food we did not order, because they didn't have the fish we ordered, just brought us something without telling us prior to it.

While the property itself is beautiful, the overall dining and service experience fell far below expectations, especially for an all-inclusive resort.

At the Italian restaurant, we arrived at approximately 7:30 PM and did not receive our food until around 8:30 PM. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely disappointing in quality and frankly inedible. Because of this delay, we missed the nightly entertainment, which was one of the highlights we were looking forward to during our stay. We didn’t leave the restaurant till 9:30pm. And during the first half of the dinner the fire alarm kept going off.

The Caribbean restaurant was also very misleading. The menu was primarily seafood and did not reflect authentic Caribbean cuisine. My boyfriend is a vegetarian, and one of the options provided was grilled carrots, which were poorly prepared and unacceptable as a main dish at a resort of this caliber. They were boiled briefly and drizzled with yogurt.

Additionally, our group of 11 was split across two table tables they refused to seat us together and food was served 10–15 minutes apart, making it impossible to dine together. To make matters worse, the hostess was rude and dismissive when we asked to clarify the reasoning.

The buffet was the only consistently reliable dining option.Outside of dining, the beach was disgusting due to excessive seaweed, and the beverages were also overly sweet even the natural juices were artificial.

We had a fantastic family vacation at Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancún and would absolutely return.

The resort is on the smaller side, which turned out to be a huge plus; everything felt calm, easy to navigate, and never overwhelming. It’s perfect if you want relaxation instead of chaos.

The rooms were beautifully renovated, clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The standout feature? The large jacuzzi soaking tub was a dream after long days in the sun. It honestly felt like a mini spa in the room.

A huge highlight was the fitness program. The classes were excellent—well-run, energizing, and led by a knowledgeable, motivating trainer who clearly cared about proper form and about making the workouts accessible yet effective. It was refreshing to have fitness options that felt genuinely high quality rather than an afterthought.

For families, the kids' club was outstanding. The staff were kind, engaged, and clearly experienced with children. Activities were well organized, fun, and age-appropriate, which gave us peace of mind—and some much-appreciated downtime knowing the kids were happy and well cared for.

And across the entire resort, the staff were consistently warm and attentive without ever being intrusive. Service felt personal and sincere.

The hotel itself is lovely. The food and service is also very good. However there is no beach. There is no sand. There is no way to walk along the beach in front of the hotel or any of the other hotels in the area. The sand has been washed away. There is no place to run. The road into the property is all holes and dirt. While I understand that this is caused by nature, it should not be advertised and charged for as a beachfront holiday. The description of the beach is misleading and we left the property before our check out. We received an apology and management’s assurance that we will get refund for the used days. So far we have not received anything. They handled it all very professionally and I trust it is coming. I hope they fix their situation. And until then we will not return nor recommend it.

Staff was great, everyone friendly, the food was impeccable - honestly the best from the all inclusive I’ve been to. Facilities also great, my kid loved the children club and child minding.

The only thing that could be better was the second bed in our room - was supposed to be two queen beds, but we got one queen and one sofa bed. The sofa bed the mattress was really uncomfortable, my mom has fibromyalgia and was in pain during our stay. Otherwise everything went really well. We’d come back if in a two queen beds room.

The beach is also not great - is a small beach space and it has sea weed.

I ASKED FOR A RECEIPT BUT THEY GAVE ME A RECEIPT FOR A SEAT I asked where it says about environment they could not proveded me any info. Thats why I gave a 3 star because of that scam fee

No hot water in our room the first day. It was only baby bottle hot. They came several times to check it out and said it’s fine. Hot water tap only open supplying slightly warm water. NO It’s not good.
We insisted they give us another room, they reluctantly did.
They say they have 5 fine dining restaurants, in reality only one is open on any night. Good luck getting a table….first come first served…
All of their maintenance carts, gardener carts, food service carts, food and drink supply carts have hard wheels in them. Hard wheels on cobble stone paths make a huge noise ALL day long. Not very peaceful and relaxing…..
The beach available to walk on is only 200 metres long, very disappointing….
The food in the fine dining restaurants, very small portions and weird, for instance the shrimp entree can with 8 medium shrimp, that’s it, no rice or bean or vegetables….just shrimp?
My steak came with a small steak and a 1/3 of a cup of mashed potatoes, no vegetables….i could go on but I think you get the idea.

Took us 3 hours to get to the hotel when it was 20 mins away, no one can find the resort. Once we got there it was under construction and had two restaurants which closed most of the days, booked and ocean view room, wasn’t given an ocean view room. For someone who goes to Mexico a lot this was a rather disappointing since I took someone for their birthday. The resort itself was beautiful not little to no amenities or perks, service was slow, limited food options, if we knew out of the 6 restaurants only two would be barely available, I would have never booked it. Very inconvenient.

The staff was superb, the food was the best I’v ever had at an all inclusive including room service. The resort was clean & rooms were nice. They were currently doing some construction but it didn’t seem to interfere with our trip. There wasn’t much of a beach front to enjoy however they’re currently working on expanding it, which would be nice in the future. This resort is great for people or families wanting to relax and enjoy the paradise as there were only about 75 people there. If you’re looking for the night life this probably isn’t the resort of choice. They do have nightly entertainment but would be nice to have a little more variety especially with kiddos. Could also use more day time entertainment as well, but we still had a great time. The roads getting to the resort were horrible and could use some work ASAP. Also with the multiple changes in ownership & resort name our driver had a little difficulty finding it upon arrival. Overall it was a good choice and great family vacation.

Not the most ideal hotel, they advertise 6 restaurants and 11 bars I believe but only 2 restaurants were open and only 1 - 2 bars at a time were open. The bars are only open from 10-11 which is not ideal for a bunch of young people who would like to party.

The swim up bar kinda lacked, they didn’t have ice half the time, the rooms were very well taken care of, but this hotel lacks entertainment and excitement.

BE CAREFUL OF THE EXCUSION GUY LOIDY- he is a SCAMMER!!!!! I paid a lot of money to go out on excursions and my friend ended up getting drugged on one of them and later we found out that Loidy purposely sent us on the wrong excursions in order to make a profit. DO NOT TRUST HIM.

So I think our issue is primarily with expedia but also with iberostar. The property should have been shut down during renovations instead of having most of the facilities closed. ESPECIALLY - we should have been informed of these minimalist facilities when booking as I would have never finalized if I had of been informed. Food quality was exceptional but no buffet and repetitive food choices and confusing alternating venues. Beach front is non existent basically and in the middle of nowhere with only expensive taxis and Ubers to get anywhere. Alcohol unavailable anywhere after 11 PM!!!! Ridiculous. Zero evening entertainment nearly all the nights we were there ( DJ does NOT COUNT as a ‘show’). No hot water for the fist half of our stay. Gym was unavailable two of the days I was there and I SPECIFICALLY look for that and is very important to me. Especially when nothing is walkable for alternatives. The spa is extremely pricey but the service is above and beyond if you want to treat yourself. The staff was our only saving Grace here. Janet and Freddy went out of their way with the rest of the staff to try and appease our disappointments. Some of the exceptional Staff members- ALEXA, JAICO, CRUZ, ALFREDO AND OUR LOVE CEIDI!! Thank you everyone.
Coffee bar closed ( another one of my reasons for returning) , carribean restaurant closed ( my favourite venue). Just super disappointing.

-Take every recent bad review with a grain of salt. Yes, they are renovating & some bars are closed BUT, we LOVED our stay & most notably, the staff.
-We were greeted at the door with champagne by friendly & professional staff. Check in was quick, informative & easy.
-The lobby smelled amazing btw.
Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable.
They provided robes, towels, water, tooth paste, tooth brushes, shower gel, conditioner, shampoo, soap.. sodas, beer, coffee, tea etc.
-We will definitely return & can’t wait to see what is new after all the renovations are completed.
-1.The food was incredible.. every meal was delicious. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and room service.. there wasn’t a single item I didn’t enjoy. I am pescatarian & they catered to my diet at every meal (the staff made sure to ask every time if I had any food allergies/diet restrictions).
2. Room service & daily room maintenance..the menu for room service is easy to order from & lots of options to choose from. The house keeping was great - room was always replenished with a freshly made bed, towels, water & other refreshments.
3. The entire resort was very clean. Beautiful landscaping & the grounds were being maintained 24/7.
4. They had daily games at the pool & evening activities (shout out Luis - crazy games!)
5. The service & hospitality are the best I’ve ever experienced. The staff alone made our trip amazing - everyone was incredible & went above & beyond any chance they had.

Mexican not so much. Night timw you could see alot of mosquitoes there. Also they should bave more than just 2 restaurants open all the time. Other suggestion would be food options bh bar area.. They did hamburgers one day and Paella one day. People should be bale to orded to the pool if they want to since there is only ome swim up bar.

Staff was extremely friendly. Activities guy for fun. Marcelo at the front door is very njce. Bar staff kept refilling our drinks.

Even if it was the low season, the hotel did not have enough entertainment for the guest. The bar closed at 11pm every night, which is way too early!...we went to a local bar twice during our stay to find some entertainment. I will say that the food was great, the rooms were nice and clean, and the staff very friendly.

The food was AMAZING, I have never had resort food so good. The room was beautiful as well as the views. But the name was confusing. My driver was confused as well as me. The resort is under new owners so it is very confusing the old name is Palmar beach resort. The resort has so much potential but at this time there is not much to do. If you are looking for any form of a party scene this is not it. If you are looking for a super relaxing non eventful time this is the place for you. The activities guy was so nice and attempted to get people to play games and always made sure we knew if there was any events. I really enjoyed all of the staff.

The road leading to the hotel has way too many big bumps making the drive uncomfortable. 2 main dining out of the 4 restaurants on site were closed but we were not informed prior to booking which impacted our experience. Very disappointed with our stay. The site advertised 6 restaurants and only 2 were available. 24 hour room service was 11am to 11pm. At 11 they stopped serving alcohol and actually kicked us out of the bar. Staff was rude. Our room took forever to get considering there was maybe 50 people on the whole resort. Our first room had a bunch of lizards which i was ok with since it is Mexico but there was a huge cockroach living in the sofa. The A/C also broke down. The whole resort is under construction which had very early morning banging. The beach was non existent. The only positive was the food. Although it was extremely limited it was delicious. Do not stay here. Not worth the money.

We booked an ocean view suite and we didn't get that. We were told that we couldn't get that because it was limited. They wanted passports and not an id.
Staff was amazing.
The facility was under construction.
Only 2 restaurants are open.
No valet at nights. Hours for drinking are different than stated. Pool bar closes at 5pm. No more swimming after 8pm.
You have to go to a bar that closes at 9:45pm to get beer. Sunday night a flight got cancelled & there was more ppl in the facility so this Monday morning you seen ppl walking around offering beverages. We never got that

They called it a soft opening, we did not realize that meant there would be construction. 4 of the 6 resteraunts were closed. Half of the pools as well,i give them slack since it was off season. The alcohol was name brand and the food was excellent. Staff was super,it was nice overall.

First, the transportation from the airport was a mess because no one knew this resort from the name listed (Selection Riveria Cancun), even with the address. Everyone knew this location to be called the PALMAR RESORT. So if you say that, you won't have troubles like we did. Secondly, our shower and our in-room hot tub NEVER got hot, not even warm! The in-room hot tub looks beautiful on the pictures, but we never got to enjoy that amenity. We unfortunately took cold showers our entire trip, even after speaking to the front desk and maintenance people. There is alot of construction going on within the property, so a lot of things are not available, including some restaurants. The staff was very pleasant and gave really good service from beginning to end. If you like to vacation with no crowds, this is the place for you. There were probably 5 other couples there in total, so we never had to wait long for anything at all, and it was very peaceful. Beautiful resort overall, but I would not stay here again.

Our stay at Selection Riviera Riviera Cancún was during renovations so the resort was fairly limited. The stay started off very inconveniently as the location reported on Expedia and Google was about a 20 minute drive from the resort which was irritating after a long journey. The property was overall good despite the renovations and the rooms were nice and spacious. The main problem is their beach is very small and was filled with smelly seaweed which essentially meant there was no beach access and the whole resort had an unfortunate smell. This combination made it very hard to spend a day at the resort and resulted in more expenses in order to try and enjoy a day at the beach or pool. The food and drinks are well prepared with enough options to satisfy you. The staff are also always ready to help you with anything you need although room service wasn’t exactly 24 hours in my experience.

Though there were very few guests, we had an amazing time. My husband and I were there for my birthday and the staff were amazing. By the end of our trip everyone knew us by name and addressed us very warmly. Food was amazing. Grounds and room was updated and clean. We look forward to coming back to see what it all looks like after renovation. Happy we got to have the place nearly to ourselves. I know it will be a hotspot soon.

Overall, Selection Riviera Cancún - All Inclusive is a great resort. The staff was excellent and the food was great. The road leading to the resort needs major work. At the time of our visit 09/29/2025 - 10/02/2025, the resort was undergoing renovations. We did not have beach access and at times there were issues with the hot water. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would visit this resort again when the renovations are complete.

The resort was under renovation. The website said they had five swimming pools, but there were only three pools that were open and also there was only one swim bar that was open but on Friday when I was there, they did have the other swim bar available. The only reason was because they had more guest that was coming to the resort. Also, they did not have many options available for dining on certain days. They were only maybe two places available to dine some days. There were no buffet restaurants to choose from, the food was very bland. The drinks were very watered down the waiters and the waitresses were very nice. I did not have a chance to explore the beach because the beach had a lot of seaweed and Sargassum on it. The water was very dirty and it had a smell to it, I also saw the workers dumping sand into the ocean. My room was really nice and comfortable, housekeeping cleaned and replenished my room with towels.

First of all, it wasn’t in their website that they are doing renovations, also 1 or 2 restaurants opened instead of 7 that is in their website. Pools are all no open either. Cannot swim in the beach, workers all over the place. The Resort name is so confusing too, I originally found Selection Riviera Cancun but when I was booking for airport transfer, they couldn’t find the so called Resort name. Shuttle agency tried everything to search this place but we go with picture and address. Me and my husband took the chance hoping not to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere. But MTS driver is so knowledgeable and resourceful. We found the Resort. After speaking to a staff that is the new Resort name by Nov. 2025. Figures not in the web site. We’ll, we are already booked so we tried whatever limited amenities they have due to big renovations all over.

We learned that the resort was in transition from one owner to another. When we arrived the lobby was half open but we easily checked in and got to our newly renovated room. Only one pool is open but it was lovely. We enjoyed the restaurants and the staff was super accommodating. Where we were very disappointed was with the fact that for two days we had no hot water and one day we were without electricity for several hours in our room. My major disappointment was the last night at 3am I woke up to water dripping from the ceiling into my bed!!! Staff was apologetic but would not do anything to help as we were checking out at 8:30 that next morning.

Fuimos a Celebrar los 15 de Nuestra Niña y la verdad Nos encanto. Todo el staff se encargo de que ella tuviera un exelente cumpleaños. El hotel muy bueno Al Igual todo lo que incluye. A pesar de estar en Remodelacion para el mejoramiento Y Comodidad para nosotros los Huespedes esta muy bueno todo. Todo el equipo De trabajadores saben manejar bien la Situacion para que Eso no Sea Inconveniente Ninguno. La verdad lo recomiendo muchisimo. Saludos a Nuestro amigo Marcelo que es una Excelente Persona.

Food options, Bed comfort, Staff service level and the state of Facilities were all excellent points. The staff were especially wonderful, often going above and beyond.
The surrounding beach area was unfortunately very dirty and not suitable for walking or simply lounging in the sun.

The people and the service were amazing! Our drinks were constantly replenished whether we were by the pool or at dinner and the food was great too. However, the dinning was limited to only one restaurant per night, it smelled really bad around the pool outside, and they didn’t have that many activities or shows. I really would have wished we were notified of the smell and inability to use the beach prior to our visit, but we still made the best of it and had a pretty good time.

The other issue is the road to access the hotel, it's like a rural way, shared by several resorts, it's painful to get in and out of the property

I will start off by saying the staff here goes above and beyond to make your experience 5+stars. Bettina, Mauricio, and Sergio are fabulous. The room we stayed in was great and well maintained by housekeeping daily. The food is very good at all the restaurants as well. This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this resort this year, and once the beach is fixed, we will absolutely return.

This property was a disappointment. The resort has potential, but it was basically empty. There were only 2 restaurants open each night. There were very limited activities for kids/families. There was no nightly entertainment, like advertised. The seaweed was out of control…the beach was inaccessible and the smell was nauseating. Resorts nearby had barricades to prevent the seaweed from ruining the beaches. There were limited food/drink/snack options throughout the day. The only positives were the amazing staff and cleanliness. We had to go off the resort and spend extra money on excursions.

Staff was extremely friendly, made you feel at home. The resort was gorgeous! Beach as closed, but Ivan and Julian did amazing at helping us plan excursions. Angel greeted us with a big smile and was so sweet! The check in/out was easy. The entire staff was 5/5 stars. Food was also delicious, staff made sure to keep everything super clean everywhere!
