Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun exceeded all of my expectations. The resort is beautiful, the amenities are outstanding, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming.

As a teacher, I don't get the opportunity to vacation very often, so I decided to treat myself by upgrading to the Diamond Club with a private swim-out pool and hot tub. It was worth every penny. The accommodations, service, and overall experience were exceptional.

One of the highlights of our trip was the outstanding care we received from our butlers, Ricardo during the day and Alex in the evenings. Ricardo did an excellent job arranging all of our restaurant reservations, making everything effortless. Both Ricardo and Alex went above and beyond to ensure we knew about all the Diamond Club benefits and were always checking to make sure we had everything we needed.

For one week, we truly felt like royalty. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made our vacation unforgettable. They made us feel valued, relaxed, and incredibly well cared for.

Thank you, Ricardo and Alex, for making this such an amazing experience. We will truly miss not only this beautiful resort but especially the two of you. I would gladly return to Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun and highly recommend it to my family, friends, and anyone looking for an exceptional vacation experience.

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price

We were a family of 4 and chose this resort for the all-inclusive package, water park, and variety of restaurants, but it did not meet our expectations.

Our room situation was handled well by Jayco, who accommodated us with twin beds while keeping our ocean view. However, the concierge experience through Expedia was disappointing, as the focus was mainly on Diamond Membership/timeshare rather than guest support.

The food was the biggest disappointment. The Cave and Hunter’s Steak House had slow service and poor quality, while the buffet was repetitive. The best options were the food trucks, Bites, and brick oven pizza.

The pools and staff were the highlights. The employees were hardworking and provided great service. However, the water park was underwhelming, some activities had extra fees, and there was no shuttle service. Taxi transportation was also extremely expensive ($90+).

For the price, we expected a better all-inclusive experience with improved food, amenities, and transportation. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this resort.

This was my families first time visiting this resort and we had a great time! The amenities were great, the resort was beautiful and the staff were always so helpful and attentive. The options of restaurants were great and the water park was a big hit with the kids. The food was really good and as mentioned the options were abundant.

The hotel was very good, and we had a great experience overall. The staff was amazing—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which really made our stay enjoyable.

The hotel has a great selection of restaurants, but since the property is so large, I think it would benefit from having another buffet to better accommodate guests.

The pools were nice, but they could use a bit more atmosphere. It was very quiet, and while I wasn’t looking for a party, having some background music would have made the experience more enjoyable.

The nightly shows were a bit disappointing. The entertainment team has a fantastic venue with great amenities, but the performances themselves were not very engaging.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and with a few improvements to the entertainment, pool atmosphere, and dining capacity, the experience could be even better.

This was the worst Marriott-affiliated property I’ve ever stayed at. Our room was hot, humid, and had a strong moldy odor throughout our stay.

The most upsetting part of our trip was discovering that several pieces of my jewelry were stolen from my suitcase after housekeeping serviced our room. I reported it immediately, but Guest Services (Juan and Megan) told me there was nothing they could do. Security and the manager, Vividiana, searched my luggage instead of investigating the housekeeper assigned to our room. I was told I had “probably left the jewelry at home” because “housekeeping doesn’t steal,” which was both insulting and dismissive.

While speaking with management, I witnessed several other guests complaining about poor treatment and missing belongings from their rooms, making it clear my experience was not isolated.

Service throughout the resort was consistently disappointing. At multiple restaurants, our party was routinely among the last to be served without explanation. We also discovered that the resort credits included with our reservation were later claimed to have been added by mistake and were not honored.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I expect professionalism and accountability. Instead, I experienced poor accommodations, stolen property, dismissive staff, and a complete lack of concern from management. I cannot recommend this resort and would strongly encourage Marriott to investigate the handling of guest complaints at this property.

Beautiful resort! Kind and attentive staff, our butlers Ricardo and Alex were amazing and did their best to make our stay more memorable. Drinks were good and rooms were clean. Our only dislike was the swim up diamond club oceanfront pools. They need to be cleaned for sure. Debris at the bottom, bird droppings on the sides; and people are leaving their floaties behind. There was a deflated floaty in the bushes. While the room spotless, the swim out left much to be desired.

I recently returned from a family trip to Royalton Splash. This was my second time staying here in two years, and unfortunately, I was not impressed. I saw zero improvement from last year. While the staff is incredibly friendly and polite, the resort is seriously lacking and needs management's immediate attention.
Where the resort falls short:
Entertainment & Vibe: There was no announced schedule for activities, so we never knew what was happening. The resort was dead during the day with no music playing unless there was a live performance. To top it off, the club closed early despite being advertised until 1 AM.
Food: The dining options were incredibly basic, bland, and highly repetitive.
Maintenance & Service: Some water slides were closed for painting during our stay. While rooms were clean, housekeeping barely restocked essentials like drinks and toilet paper. Worst of all, we were locked out of our room for a full hour because the door battery died and our wristbands wouldn’t work.
Final Verdict:
This resort has so much potential, but it feels like things have slipped since last year. The wonderful staff does their best, but management desperately needs to upgrade the food quality, organize the entertainment, and keep up with basic maintenance. I won't be returning until real changes are made.

Stayed here with my family with two teens. Enjoyed the multiple pools including the hammock pools . So nice !! The lazy river was very nice . Teens enjoyed the bigger water slides as well. The food at the buffet was ok . Could be a lot better . I have stayed at other all inclusive hotels in the area and those were way better in my opinion. The food at the restaurants that you had to make a reservation for were much better. So be sure to make reservations for them. We had dinner at the Italian , Indian, and steak restaurants and they were delicious. Also , make sure you go early to the breakfast buffet because on busy days the food runs out and takes them a while to replenish. Hotel Staff were nice and welcoming. Events in the evening were entertaining.

There are a lot of hidden fees at this resort—far more than I’ve ever experienced at an “all-inclusive” property. Because of this experience, I would not stay at another Royalton resort.

From the moment we arrived, the pressure to attend a sales presentation for their “not-a-timeshare” program was relentless and immediately put a damper on the start of our vacation. Another major frustration was the dinner reservation system. Requiring reservations to be made three days in advance is unreasonable for an all-inclusive resort. Thankfully, we stayed for a full week; otherwise, we would not have had the opportunity to try many of the restaurants.

The wait staff, housekeeping team, and entertainment staff were all wonderful and deserve recognition for their hard work and excellent service. Unfortunately, our experience with management and sales staff was the complete opposite. Getting help with even simple issues was difficult, and no one seemed willing to take ownership or provide solutions.

The beach was also very disappointing. The smell was unpleasant, the water was extremely murky, and there was a significant amount of seaweed throughout our stay.

Overall, while the frontline staff were excellent, the hidden fees, aggressive sales tactics, poor management support, and beach conditions ensured that we would not return.

The resort was clean, had great service, shows, food options and amenities but the last day we tried the slides and we all ended up injured. Although my family consists of larger people, on the quad tub slide we were not warned that going ion this slide could result in neck injury. Both my husband and I ended up having whiplash and were out of commission for the remainder of the day. My adult boys tried one more slide and they ended up with huge bruises on their lower back. I mostly want to point this out because the slide attendants should warn people how aggressive it is. We are flying home today in pain but the rest of the trip was great.

Property was beautiful and there were lots of activities through the day. Easy to navigate with a toddler.
Don’t expect to spend time on the beach. It was full of seaweed. Thankfully the pools were great. One of the slides was not working and there was only one other option for solo riders. The other slides need at least 2 people or more.
Zen, Grazie, and the Cave were wonderful. Taj nice inside but the food was not great. Veggie food was good but the butter chicken and tandoori chicken were bland. The best part was the dessert. The buffet had lots of options - something for everyone.
Bookings through Expedia have their own check in process/area. You are taken to a different office down near the splash pool.

From the minute you enter the lobby the view steals your breath. Once you check in and explore the resort it leaves you in awe. The restaurants were amazing food experiences we tried (Zen, Rio, The Cave, Hunters and of course the Buffets for breakfast. Service throughout the resort is top 10 everyone we encounter was going above and beyond. The Spa service was amazing in every aspect the hydrotherapy was amazing definitely recommend it. We also had a butler service with our diamond level and it made our trip so easy to enjoy he handled everything and checked on us every day and almost every hour. The rooms were amazing and had an excellent view.

Only a couple things I’d say need work, one was the alcohol is watered down, and the vip resort credits were misleading. The credits were actually a book of coupons to use for different services that added up to $300. I would change how this is phrased.

Visited in May 2026 with my husband and two children (11 & 14). Had a fantastic stay. Large property with lots of things to do, from the arcade, waterpark, lazy river, splash pad, or main pool. I enjoyed the food trucks and ice-cream shop, my husband enjoyed the sports bar and the coffee shop. My kids enjoyed the main pool and the water park. Staff is really polite and welcoming, the property is beautiful and sembles a 5 star property. My family agreed that we would visit again.

Cleanliness of the hotel, including rooms and public restrooms were excellent. Restrooms had a great smell and well very well kept. Staff was great, very accommodating and always helpful. They came to see if everything was okay in a timely manner every time we were at the pool. Definitely a good placed to come with your family and kids. Only thing I dislike as a whole was the fact that the pools and amenities closed a bit too early for me. Maybe this is something normal in all of the resorts in Cancun but was surprised to learn that pools closed at 5 or 6.

Beautiful resort! Clean and staff were very friendly. Hotel is facing the ocean so most rooms have a wonderful view. The beach is not really useable due to the seagrass. They’d rake constantly but can’t keep up with it. Could be the time of year (June) but there are plenty of pools to swim, relax or play in. There were shows or activities every evening that were entertaining. The buffet restaurant had plenty of variety to choose from. Our only complaint was getting reservations for dinner in the other restaurants. We were only able to get one dinner reservation the whole week.
Very family friendly. There are activities and things to do but it is not party central like some other resorts. I’d recommend if you are looking for more of a laid back place.

However, the staff was hit or miss with either really great service or people who acted like it was a nuisance to help. We had to request extra towels several times, and at one point they came the next day after confirmation “in 30 minutes.” Food was mediocre, with some questionable safety with the poolside stands.

What i was super disappointed in is:
0 snacks in room, my first resort which didn’t have snacks.
not many lunch options, nibbles by pool was beyond awful, the 2 food trucks were NEVER open, even during their “open times” they said they “ran out”
ice cream place closed when they should be opened.
at bar i heard “sorry out of milk” “out of chocolate”
so those things alone put me off.
i had an amazing time, but wouldn’t return.

They don’t warn you to not open the balcony door for more than 30 seconds at a time. Before we even got our luggage unpacked, the entire room was soaked from condensation (couldn’t walk on the floor, sheets were wet, everything). They gave us a hard time about it, and said it wasn’t their fault. I thought “great, this is going to be a lovely trip”. The staff just seemed like they were there to do the bare minimum for their job and nothing more. But, it did get better from there. The pool was nice, the kids loved ordering their own non-alcoholic drinks at the swim-up bar, the ice cream shop was a hit even though they opened way late one day and ran out of ice cream another day. The waterpark was just OK. We didn’t like the age limits (5-12). One of our kids could get on and the other couldn’t. The food was hit or miss depending on where you went. The Japanese restaurant was probably the best in our opinion. My kids also enjoyed the activities like make a shirt and the shows at night. It was a great time but I don’t think we’d stay here again. We just expected a lot more.

You gave a $300 room credit. We were used to the $300 room credit.And when we registered , they didn't tell us it was a coupon book and then give us the coupon book. The bar staff was great, we had problems with our room, the ceiling was following in the shower and leaking sewer water , regular water, call for repair 3 times that came in and mudded. But they didn't fix the water leak or sewage leaked and I kept leaking in the mud kept dropping out of the ceiling again and again. They finally moved us to another room and upgraded us to a ocean front, which was nice. But when we got into the room, the TV was on couldn't control it. If only had to come in and replace the TV controller. There was no trash cans in the room. And only one chair on the deck. Of course , it took almost the whole evening to move from one room to the other so I lost a whole evening of entertainment with my family. When we tried to schedule reservations at restaurants 9 people , there unable to accommodate.

They have bowling, trampoline and game that were advertised and there was a charge for all of these. Had a nice room but the ceiling in the shower was leaking water or drain water from the room above and it took three day to have them come look st it and finally they movef us into another room with a ocean view, the tv didn't work in the unit. They fixed it. No trash can and they brought one. The deck only had one chair and they brought one. I lost a night of entertainment because of the room change. The staff was great.

We stayed at Royalton Splash Cancun from May 28–June 4, 2026. Overall, we had a great vacation and would consider returning, but there were some notable drawbacks.

The resort's biggest strengths are its facilities and food variety. The gym was outstanding—one of the best resort fitness centers we've used. We also enjoyed the pools, water park, and common areas. Among the restaurants, Rio (Brazilian steakhouse) and Zen (Japanese teppanyaki) were excellent and were highlights of our trip. However, Grazie and Hunter Steakhouse were disappointing, and we would have preferred the buffet instead.

As Diamond Club guests, we appreciated the upgraded amenities and accommodations. However, the Royalton membership sales pitch was extremely pushy. Check-in was unnecessarily prolonged, and even after clearly declining, we were repeatedly approached in the lobby and at breakfast about attending presentations in exchange for discounts.

The advertised $600 Expedia resort credit felt like a scam. It is not a usable $600 balance but a booklet of small coupons with many restrictions. We tried using them for spa treatments but were told they could not be combined with the Diamond Club discount. In the end, we were unable to use any of the credits.

Housekeeping and minibar service were inconsistent. Some days everything was replenished perfectly; other days towels or minibar items were missing. We also found the butler service largely unnecessary, as the concierge and app were more effective.

We chose the Royalton Splash Cancún for our first family trip. It was my husband, on (7) and myself. The resort is beautiful and tons of fun things to do for the kids such as waterslide, a splash pad for the younger kids, lazy rivers and pools. The food was ok, nothing fancy, after a few days you get tired of the same thing for breakfast, snacks and lunch. The restaurants were very good! Our favorites were the steakhouse and Teppanyaki show. Our room smelled like mildew/mold upon entry each time, we ended up having a purifier put inside our room and it helped with the smell, however the housekeeping staff didn’t think to empty the water from the bottom of the machine so we came back to a flooded floor in our room two days in a row, I ended up having to empty it myself.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The entertainment was fun for the kids & adults.

This has been the worst trip I have ever booked with Expedia. The Royalton Splash messed up our check in. A few weeks before the trip, we used the link they sent to us to logged into their site and reserved an upgraded room that specifically said had 2 queens. When we arrived they wanted us to still pay for the room up charge even though all they could give us was a room with a king bed for our party of 4. They said they can never guarantee a king or 2 queen beds. They why did they send us a link to do just that? Who wants to stay at a hotel where there is a chance there aren’t enough beds to accommodate the people on your trip? The Food was horrible at all the restaurants except the steak house. We realized they never gave us our room credits, so asked them about it today. They said they were sorry they didn’t give it to us at check in but it was now too late to get them because we check out today. I recommended this place to friends and now regret it.

Check in process was a bit of a disaster as even though we told them we had 4 people, they said the room we had booked was really only for 3 people. King bed and twin pull out. Room ended up being just fine has the pull out was more like a double and they gave us a rollaway bed. Buffet wasn't great and there was a lack of authentic food on it. Cave restaurant was awful. Service not great and food was not good. Mexican restaurant had good food and mediocre service. Hunter steakhouse had best food and incredible service by Benjamin. Teppanyaki was ok. Service all around was not what we would expect. We had two people the entire time that truly stood out for Service, benjamin from the steakhouse and Miguel by the pool. We did book a catamaran from cancun to isla mujeres which was easy to book, but cheaper to do on the website rather than through hotel. It is definitely family friendly with lots of kids and a good amount of activities for them through the hotel. My kids are a bit older and didnt enjoy as much as the smaller kids would have.

The rooms had some stains on the walls and the faucet and shower handles had residue. Wasn’t very clean. Restaurant reservations were handled horribly we couldn’t not make a reservation because they were all at capacity by the time we got our room number to be able to reserve. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful vacation!
There are a few aspects that were quit upsetting. After check in I was approached by a very nice lady who was simply doing her job. She was selling a promo for different adventures they offer. In exchange for a breakfast presentation for 1.5 hours. We were ready to get to our room and relax after a long travel day. Did not want to arrive to a sales pitch. Also the water park and lazy river both close too early for kids on vacation. I made dinner reservation upon arrival only available times were 8 & 8:30 for all 3 nights. I double checked my reservation before we left the resort that morning and it said 20:30 when we arrived at the restaurant we were told the reservation was for 6:30 and they could not seat us. Wish I would have had a screenshot. We were able to go to the buffet but we were really looking forward to the steakhouse. The employees were very nice!

Our room is very clean and plenty of pool to enjoy. The only comment is se food in Marche is not really good but majority are awesome.

The property is well maitained and clean. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. I found the buffet ok, not great , but it did have variety. There are many bars and the bartenders are great, whether you want a coxtail or a moxtail, lol. Overall the experience was very good and I would recommend staying there. The excursion I went on was good and the 3rd party people were also very good.

The depth in pools was very low,not even just one pool for adults and higher depth,jacuzzi is for extra charge and all inclusive hotels including that ,French restaurant was terrible food ,agave restaurant has rude employees and waiters

We chose this resort for a special family milestone and loved the beautiful location right on the beach in Rivera Maya. The size of the property was impressive, and the grounds were well-maintained.
However, there is room for improvement in several areas:
• Rooms: Our room felt strongly damp/humid, which made it uncomfortable. The towels provided in the room, pool, and beach were often discolored and damaged.
• Minibar/Restocking: Coffee, soda, water, box of tissue and other items in the room were never restocked during our eight-night stay.
• Staff: Service was very mixed. Many staff members, especially in the restaurants, were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, several employees in the buffet area and café appeared annoyed when guests asked questions. Language was also a challenge — many staff had very basic English, which made communication difficult at times.

The property itself was clean, the check-in staff could've been more helpful in providing more information regarding property. At check in they did not provide any map/brochure of property. The food trucks consistently ran out of food 2-3hrs before there service ended. Food was a 4/10, reservations for dinner at most restaurants were booked, we arrived on Monday morning and there was only availability for the steakhouse. The only reason I gave food 4/10 was because of the sports bar (Score) and the burgers/chicken tenders, breakfast was also ok. All the service staff was friendly and very attentive. Property is beautiful but definitely would not stay here again. With us not enjoying most of our meals I decided to make dinner reservations outside of the property and was told Ubers are not allowed inside, you are only able to take hotel taxis that cost around $150 USD (round transportation).

We had a great experience! Expedia staff was very attentive, and Expedia members receive nice perks and benefits. I would definitely recommend booking through Expedia. Ivonne from the Vibe Team was especially friendly, helpful, and brought a fun energy to our stay. The hotel was clean, room service was fast, and the bartenders were always attentive and welcoming. There are too many staff members whether it was at the bars or the buffet that were not happy and it shows. It was also nearly impossible to make dinner reservations for the entire party that I had down there overall, we all had a good time. I’ve been to many all-inclusive resorts in Cancun for many years and I’ll be honest to say this is probably one of the worst ones that I’ve been at. The AC in the room was not working properly. I had no remote. I had to hang my sign out in front of the door for room to be cleaned and I had felt as though after being a property that’s only four years old things should’ve been working a lot better

Worst food of any resort I've ever been to. Buffett was sup-par compared to 10 other all inclusive I've stayed at. Sadly the buffet was still better than 5 of the restaurants that needed reservations for. The Italian and French were the only good restaurants. I've had a better steak at a gas station then the "steak house." Only got 3 of the meats brought to our table in over an hour at the Brazilian Grill. The Mexican restaurants were awful. Service at every restaurant besides the 2 good ones was abysmal. You might see your waiter once after your order food. Impossible to get drink refills.
Tried several bars and had to ask for a double in every drink to have it even taste like there was something in it. I never felt buzzed a single day even after drinking 10-12 cocktails a day.
We had a party of 13. I got sick on day 3 with Norovirus and 7 of us had it by day 5 and headed home.
Room was very nice, clean, and taken care of each day by staff. Lazy river was great. Half the slides were shut off each time we tried but what we did experience was very fun. Wifi worked really well.
So many resorts in the area I try to go to new ones each visit but I can confidently say this is one that won't ever be on our list again.
