The room was clean and the staff were very nice and friendly. However, the activities for kids were limited. The water park was amazing but kids club seemed more suitable for very young children, and my kids didn’t really enjoy them. The GameUp was also quite expensive — $15 for 30 minutes.
The pools were good overall, but the water in one of them was not very clear.
I really liked the breakfast. Lunch was okay, and for dinner I especially enjoyed the steakhouse restaurant.
Overall, it’s a good place for families with children.
As Expedia clients, we had access to a special section in the Gourmet restaurant, but we never used it because it was very dark. We were also given a $300 credit as Expedia guests, but unfortunately we couldn’t use it. Every time I tried to use it, they offered other promotions instead.

Activities felt inconsistent. Room had pee on wall in bathroom. Buffet was a nightmare at times with food not being ready to serve, key items during breakfast like nutella, bacon, and hashbrowns constantly out people waiting around for the next batch in lines. They tell you to make reservations through the app. The app shows all dates booked creating another hassle of finding someone to book for you when they should have just done it at check in when asked about setting up the reservations. The extra perks for booking with expedia also are not legit. The discounts come with a price of having tonhear someone talk you into becoming amember. The late check out was not available.

We got sick like 100 other people due to poor food hygiene.
Staff are dude. They take tips at the pool and wont bring your order. Make sure you dont tip before receiving an order.

Ice-cream staff are extremely rude.

Otherwise good entertainment, clean rooms. Just okay food.

I have been to cancun multiple times but haven't encountered similar attitude from their staff.

Nothing special. Resort was severely overcrowded. Because of that, food was no good unless you were lucky enough to get a reservation at an a la carte restaurant. Good luck with that unless you're a member. Breakfast was especially chaotic and disappointing. Our son picked up whatever virus/food borne illness was going around. Multiple staff walked by our vomiting kid as we tried to help him without a second glance. Finally one kind waiter noticed us, brought cold towels and got the right people's attention. The resort paid for our doctor visit, but never admitted to knowing about an outbreak (which we found out about the next day from coming across many more sick kids). \"$300 Resort Credit\" is a coupon book of $20 here and there that adds up to 300. We didn't use a single one. Staff snickered when we asked if there were any local concerns about cartel violence in relation to our gov't briefly putting Cancun under Shelter in Place orders. Pools were nice and water slides were lots of fun. This place could be really nice if it weren't so crowded and had a more engaging staff.

From the second we arrived, had no pickup which was booked in advance, staff was mostly unpleasant and they try to sell you something everywhere you turn. Hands were out everywhere!!! We upgraded for NO reason!!
BUT, the worst part was…They KNEW there was an airborne virus!!!! We got TERRIBLY SICK!!!!!
Come to find out, they were trying to get people to sign non disclosures.
Also, Expedia gave me no access to my trip and communication was awful. We didn’t get the room we wanted due to this. I called and was told the problem would be fixed and everyone conveniently brushed me off to the hotel who conveniently disconnected.
Biggest waste of a LOT of money!!! Thanks for NOTHING!!!

For a family of 8 with kids, we requested 1 month ahead for room next two each other when still available, and agreed to pay extra, it was t fulfilled when we checked in. Expedia advertised for 300 room credit, but never explained it was coupon book and need to get it from hotel concierge. So hotel dinner read can’t be applied. We had to pay extra. The amenities and food were good. But the travel agency and hotel are not in sync, we felt like just lure you with higher reviews, but worst experience we had compared to other times.

Ok so I want to say first that as a whole we had an amazing time. The pros of the hotel were: beautiful rooms, beautiful views, wonderful staff, they fixed any issues that came up, the food was just okay, so much to do for kids and adults alike, drinks were very good, beds were extremely comfortable, the lazy river was fun, and the pool was clean at all times. Now for the cons: they seemed to run out of things very quickly for example cheese and orange juice, there was an obvious sewer smell at times, they say you dont need reservations but you do for everything but the buffet, they will upcharge you on everything for example a pool bed for the day was 100, and the food was just okay I have definitely had better at other resorts but the drinks made up for it as did the staff. Would I go back yes the trip as a whole was amazing.

Our trip was completely ruined from this, we were all very upset about it after spending an insane amount of money for such a big resort. We will not be back. Beautiful resort with clean rooms, staff was nice, and decent food for an all inclusive. My only complaint is that wait times to do anything (eating, waiting in coffee lines, waiting in breakfast buffet lines, waiting for drinks by the pool) took way longer than expected due to the amount of people that were staying at the resort. Staff handled the traffic as best as they could.

- service (as long as you tip - they are wonderful)! And I 100% believe everyone should be tipped, regardless of all inclusive
- we are on floor 5 and able to walk out to a hot tub and pool. That is HUGE being with our daughters. Love that we can come back to our room mid-day and relax yet have the option for kids to continue to swim
- butlers had been AMAZING! We have Paulo and Milton. I wasn’t sure what a butler would entail but it has been an amazing service!
CONS:
- We travel to the Cancun area every year over presidents break. Have always had a good experience. Usually stay around Hotel Zona but wanted to be away from that area this year. We booked this hotel bc of the water park for our kids. Waterpark is pretty gross and rundown. Also disappointed that the water in almost all pools around the resort is cold.
- my husbands birthday is today and he’s been sleeping and in bed all day bc of an illness….guessing food poisoning based on all of the previous comments.
- room service takes forever and housekeeping is hit or miss… first two days were amazing…today, we could have made our own beds since that was all that was done.
- beach is gross - not the hotels fault regarding seaweed…but MANY better options nearby!!!!
- Food: not impressed. Indian restaurant was the best but was also last place we ate before husband became ill.
Overall:
No; would not stay here again. I feel bad for the handful of amazing staff. The issues need to be fixed from the top!

Overall, this place was good. Not like the other Royalton resorts I’ve visited. Has to call the front desk to resolve a room issue and for three days straight they said they would send someone up and no one came. Food was good, service and some restaurants were horrible. Resort was pretty clean. Some staff were downright rude, would talk about you right infront of your face. Id choose another location in the future.

Overall, our stay was okay. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were very clean. However, the food at the restaurants was not up to par. There were not many healthy options, and most dishes were very oily. The food quality was also disappointing.

The restaurant reservation system also needs improvement. Reservations only open 24 hours in advance, and everyone tries to book at the same time through the app. It would be much better if reservations opened earlier, such as 48 hours before, or before arrival. As it is now, you have to stay up until midnight to book for the next day, or everything fills up quickly.

Pool activities for kids could also be improved. There were some activities at night in the main area, but more daytime options for children would be nice.

The $300 credit per room felt misleading. It is actually a coupon booklet that does not truly add up to $300 in usable value. The coupons are split into small amounts ($20–$35) and cannot be used all at once, which encourages you to spend more money after already paying a high price for the vacation.

The A/C worked inconsistently, and coordinating with the front desk was often a hassle. We had to call multiple times to get simple requests handled. It also took three hours for our bags to be delivered to our room, and when we asked if we could pick them up ourselves, we were told to wait. For the price we paid, the service and experience were not worth it,I don' recommend.

Prior to leaving, i received an email to pick my room ( the cheapest was a 93$ upgrade) or i would be assigned whatever was available. Expedia did not explain that when booking.
Upon arrival, wife and i were taken to 2 levels down to a different check in area. We were given \" special \" Expedia bracelets which we were told cost $150 if we lost them! We also received the regular resort bracelets. We were also told that we had to schedule our breakfast presentation which would only take 90 minutes. We declined and then i got text message from the sales rep at 751am the next morning and then a phone call to our room at 8. The hard sell for Expedia?
The resort did not have enough chairs and they did not have enough security. The \" Diamond \" areas had plenty and there were plenty of cabanas that you could upgrade to. But not nearly enough chairs for the regular folks. People were smoking every where and the loud personal speakers on the beach made it unpleasant to relax and try to listen to the ocean. We are well traveled and we have experienced much. This wasnt the easy get away we hoped for.

Staff was friendly and respectful, and our room was cleaned daily. The swim-out pool was warm, which was great since we had a cold front during our stay.

I strongly recommend renting a car at the airport, as it’s much cheaper than anything offered through the resort.

Be aware of the “free breakfast/excursion” offers — they are actually Vacation Membership sales presentations. The pressure starts at the airport and can last for hours, and they will ask for credit cards before you sign anything, which was very uncomfortable.

Food was average with little variety and no authentic Mexican options like tacos or guacamole. Our bathroom also flooded on the first day.

Overall, while the staff was great, the aggressive sales tactics and food quality took away from the experience, and I would not go back.

Firstly, room we check In had blood on the bed sheet the bellboy who delivered the bag so hair all over and blood on bedsheet. He right away reported to the Guest service who took almost 3 hours to change the room. They literally wasted most of the day.
Next at the time of check in a Guy name Rafael introduced us as Expedia Team Member took us to a separate lobby where he wanted us to not book from expedia going forward and he has better deals. Later on I got information that he works for \" Prime Traveller Group\", was basically lied to at the start. Then he keep forcing us to sign up for a breakfast sit down else you wont get any service because of expedia member. There were lot of group we meet there got FOOD poisoning and some of them were actually hospitalized as well. Overall be very careful for those FRAUD people from Prime Travel Group who waste your time and force you to not buy the package from Expedia next time and buy with them.
I was astonished to understand how can expedia allow this to happen taking lot of client from them. Overall - Food -2 star, Service -1 star Shows - 3 star.
I wont wanna waste my money again on Royalton Splash terrible experience. Last time in 2025 Feb the service was really great, this time it is super duper below par or I would waste of my money and time. Not going back to Royalton for sure. They force me to upgrade to diamond else not access to heated pool since it was really chilly for 2 days. They made there money by forcing us.

The resort is nice and grounds well maintained. They were clearly understaffed in most areas and appeared poorly managed. It took 2 hrs to check in (via Expedia office which was odd) and 1hr to check out due to their billing error. Our 4 rooms were not in the same area despite making the request 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Most of our group (and many other guests) got sick from the flu. There are no sanitizer stations anywhere which would've mitigated the spread.

The Expedia credit is very misleading and only applies to limited amenities and has a limit for each. It's essentially a coupon booklet!

We recently stayed at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun with a group of 9 people (including 3 kids), and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing overall.

The biggest issue was the food quality and illness. The buffet food was very poor and, during our stay, 7 out of 9 people in our group got sick, including all three kids. That alone really impacted our vacation. The à-la-carte restaurants were somewhat better than the buffet, but still not enough to make up for the overall food experience.

The lines everywhere were extremely long. At the pool bars, we often waited a very long time just to get drinks. Getting snacks like burgers by the pool sometimes took close to an hour. The coffee shop also had long lineups every single day, which made grabbing a quick coffee frustrating.

Another major downside was the pools were never heated. The water was freezing cold the entire stay, and because of that we only used the pool once. For a resort that’s supposed to be very family-friendly and water-focused, that was a big letdown.

Be aware that the resort is very isolated. It’s basically in the middle of nowhere with only two other resorts nearby. If you want to leave the resort, your only real option is a taxi, and it costs about $80 USD each way for 2–4 people.

We also had a poor experience with the Expedia representative at the resort. They were not helpful and we didn’t feel like we received any benefit at all from booking through Expedia.

Overall, very bad experience!

The Royalton Splash was just great. The entire place is beautiful, clean, well maintained and has so many options for things to do, places to eat, you will never get bored. There are several very nice restaurants and also a buffet that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has to be the largest buffet I have every been to. And it serves a huge variety of foods including typical American foods, as well as Mexican. The Royalton spa and fitness center are both outstanding, We used both and were not disappointed at all (try a couples massage followed by hydrotherapy). There are so many pools.....one area caters to families and another to those traveling without kids. Heres a tip...you must book reservations at the good restaurants 2 days in advance (that means be ready at 12:01 am to get a reservation). And \"Diamond Club\" members can book earlier than that so they get priority. If you book the stay through Expedia you get a few extra perks. My one complaint is that they only serve Dos Equis and Heineken beer. For a beer drinker that got old pretty fast. There are some good Mexican craft brewery's, you would think they might have a few of them to offer. All in all a nice trip.

Airport transportation was not included, and we had to pay $40 per person for transfer. The resort was also not truly all-inclusive as advertised—access to a large portion of the hotel required an extra fee for the Diamond Club, which made us feel excluded and not valued as guests.
We traveled as three couples and one child, and room allocation was handled very poorly. One couple had paid for an ocean-view room but received a lower-class ocean view, while another couple who paid for no upgrade received a higher-class ocean-view room. The third couple was placed in a very low-level room. Overall, guests were not treated based on what they paid for.
We repeatedly requested (over four times) to be placed closer together, but despite nine buildings, we were assigned extremely far apart (Buildings 2 and 9), requiring a 15-minute walk to see each other. The room in Building 12 (also referred to as Building 2) had a constant bad smell due to a creek behind the building.
Food was often cold and overall not enjoyable. Most activities were focused on children, with very limited options for adults. The sea was full of seaweed and not pleasant for swimming.
Water quality was a major issue—the water had a strong smell and salty taste, affecting all drinks and coffee. No bottled water was available in restaurants, making it difficult to drink anything unless brought from the room. A request for toothpaste was also never fulfilled.

Initially we were very impressed with this resort - blown away in fact by the views and so excited to explore the waterpark and all the things for children. Our service upon arrival was also attentive and friendly. Buffet was over the top - very american, great for picky toddlers, tasty, tons of options, no empty trays. We also loved the use of the app which streamlined restaurant booking in an efficient and fair way. Unfortunately our positive opinion quickly changed after a couple of days. Ultimately this resort has a capacity that is just too large and we didn't feel the staff could keep up. Pools were crowded, you had to search for a chair, bar line ups were long, pool-side wait staff were limited, garbage on the lawn, dirty elevators, etc. This was proven even more come time to check out. We couldn't get through to guest services to help bring our suitcases down to the lobby and at least 100 other people were checking out and leaving the resort at the same time as us. One check out line, an overcrowded and disorganized taxi system and concierge staff that were equally as disorganized and rude. Our exit of this resort was extremely unpleasant, leaving me in tears in the cab with two children under 2, 6 suitcases and 45 mins late for our departure to the airport. We would have loved to love this resort but we will never return. To top it off, both my children developed hand foot and mouth the day after our return home.

Terrible check-in and checkout process. Over 2 hours for both. Perhaps Expedia should move their checkin desk to the entrance; not 15 mins from drop off. If you have food allergies, staff do not care. Housekeeping needs- expect a 2 hour wait. Booking with nexus on your transfer home? Expect them to ask if randos can jump into your private and previously paid shuttle.

The hotel was large and had good facilities overall. It offered several nice swimming pools, a water park, and a lazy river, which were great, especially for families. There were also good bars and a variety of restaurants. Some restaurants were very good, while others were disappointing. The best restaurant by far was Rio, and our favorite bar was the Beach Sand Bar.
One of the biggest downsides of the hotel was that at night, when we opened the balcony door, there was a very bad smell coming from outside on most nights, which was quite unpleasant, Another surprising issue for me was that the rooms did not include basic amenities such as a toothbrush and toothpaste. When I asked the front desk, they told me that I had to buy them from the hotel shop, where both items were priced much higher than normal.

This hotel is very well-maintained, clean and everything is in working order. The staff are friendly and gracious, the amenities are great for kids. Lots of food & drink options between the 24hr cafe, a sports bar, food carts, pool side snack bar, buffet, restaurants, ice cream parlor, and bars.

Unfortunately, the food at the buffet was pretty cold at times. Some foods were clearly overcooked or maybe even cooked twice.

Lounge chairs were hard to come by because there's no reinforcement of the no-reservation policy. This caused us a lot of anxiety and likely ruined more than one family's vacation. Guests rarely police their own entitlement in these situations.

We wanted to rent a bali bed, but were met with so many barriers we gave up--staff were more interested in pushing their Prime exclusive membership on us.

On top of that, we were inundated with suspicious emails and WhatsApp messages from companies trying to sell us real estate, services and excursions, in some cases using scare tactics to keep our hotel reservation. I have suspicions about the resort's data privacy rules and who they are selling our info to.

They had a lovely Mexican-themed evening that had a little marketplace, music, food, and shows. Unfortunately, the luchador fight was cancelled.

All this said, an all-inclusive in Mexico is still an amazing experience. It's a great resort for kids, but I'm not sure we'll be back.

I am very disappointed with my recent stay at Royalton splash all inclusive resort.

I booked through Expedia and was directed to a separate check-in located at the far end of the resort. The agent provided almost no information about the resort, amenities, or benefits. I was told to use the app, given a small brochure, and not even shown where my room was located.

While the food overall was good however I suffered a severe food poisoning after dining at the Japanese restaurant. It ruined an entire day of my vacation and I was concerned that I might need medical attention.

Another major issue was the lack of available sunbeds at both the pool and the beach throughout my stay. The free sunbeds included in an all-inclusive package were extremely limited, while paid cabanas cost $90. If you did not reserve a spot before 7:30 a.m., there was nothing available. On my last day, staff members even moved my towels and gave my spot to another couple. Guest Services did not resolve the issue and left me waiting, which ultimately forced me to pay for a cabana just to have somewhere to sit.

I paid for an all-inclusive beach vacation and expected basic amenities to be available without additional charges. Unfortunately, this was not the all inclusive experience I received and I was not treated as a valued customer!

Our stay at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun was outstanding from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived, the resort impressed us with its beautiful design, modern atmosphere, and excellent upkeep. Our room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, making it the perfect place to relax after full days of activities.

The staff truly made the experience exceptional. Every team member we encountered was warm, professional, and attentive, always going out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Their friendliness and willingness to help really elevated our stay.

One of the biggest highlights was the daily buffet. The variety was impressive, with fresh, flavorful options available every day and something for everyone to enjoy. The quality, presentation, and consistency of the food stood out, and it was clear that care was taken to keep everything clean, organized, and well stocked. It made dining convenient, enjoyable, and something we looked forward to each day.

The resort amenities were also top-notch, from the pools and water park to the overall dining and entertainment options. Everything was well maintained and thoughtfully designed to create a fun yet relaxing atmosphere. Overall, our experience was memorable and exceeded expectations. We would absolutely return and highly recommend Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun to anyone looking for an excellent all-inclusive getaway.

This was my second stay at this resort. I visited in September 2024 and had a great experience, which is why I returned. Unfortunately, this trip was very disappointing.I paid extra for a Luxury Junior Suite Ocean Front Swim Out – Diamond Club, but at check-in I was given the wrong room type in Building 19 with a completely different view. After checking in, I was told my correct room would not be available until the next day.I was traveling with an infant and a 2-year-old, and the situation caused a lot of stress and wasted time. The next day, I was asked to check out at 12 PM and wait several hours without a room, which is not reasonable with small children. After multiple requests and discussions with staff and management, the correct room was finally provided at 1:30 PM.This experience involved too much back-and-forth, poor room management, and lack of consideration for families, especially after paying extra for a specific room type. Very disappointing compared to my first stay.

We paid extra for a luxurious king bed + sofa room ocean facing , but received - A double bed regular ocean facing room . The room shower pit had mold .
There is weird smell in the room 13-401 which was horrible and wnt go away! Did we ask for the room to get changed no! As we were very tired in the check in process with Expedia .
Overall for the room allocation, room smell/mold - I have 1 star

Royalton room service - we had used room service for 3-4 times and the staff were good - 4 star

Expedia - horrible check in process - waited for almost 45 mins, when we were already tired walking to that place ! They do not have a counter at the entrance so ya you walk to them and wait until they are free to get u the room tags. 1 star for Expedia checkin

Expedia checkout - even after checking out the hotel, they need all the people in your group to be there to checkout! This is the first time we had to ever go to a counter to checkout. And so ya we had to make multiple trips walking back n forth with our luggage as we did not know it .the lady did not tell us, we absolutely need a checked out paper tag for checkout. Anyway we checkout- 1 star for Expedia checkout process

We had a very big issue as we had booked the cab with a another family and Expedia / Royalton / Nexus cabs- all do not have a way to communicat

This resort is definitely generated for families. There were kids everywhere!!! That’s our fault though.. we knew it wasn’t an adults only. We stayed at Excellence Coral last time and I think we had high expectations.. The resort is older and did not give Excellence Coral. As soon as we checked into Diamond Club they tried to get us to join a timeshare presentation. That was a huge negative. Staff was great, food was decent for an all inclusive. Would not be back to this resort.

We arrived after travelling 14hours and were taken to try and sell us timeshares etc. No wasn’t an answer, and that was very frustrating. Cash wasn’t accepted anywhere, charges to room mostly, expect for photo place.
Amenities were ok, pool and activities for kids were good.

Specialty restaurants are super hard to book, almost impossible. The buffet can do better with the foods (we saw mussels, shrimps and scallops everyday which covers most of the dishes). My son did enjoy the pool and the virgin piña colada.

If I ordered the same thing twice, they were both different. This was a minor issue for us as we are not heavy drinkers.

Everybody who has the opportunity to make a reservation in the Royalton Riviera Cancún is the best option, the Royalton Splash is a new hotel with TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, they treat people like if we are robots. The first day I came they put me to walk really far to a place to do the check in because customer from Expedia they try to sale all the time their package, when we arrive nobody was on the reception and they stay that they have a big group arriving and put me to walk back again to complete my check in, after that the food for the buffet is TERRIBLE THEY DINT HAVE FOOD FOR KIDS, to calm myself I went to the spa to relax myself and everything for the pool inside the spa is controlled by them. My kids went to club to play and they obligated them to participate in a karaoke saying that if they don’t participate it they will be out ( Just Like That) It was my husband birthday I mentioned thru Expedia, I mentioned when I arrived and guesss what, Nothing happened. We want to go to Xoximilco that is 13 minutes far from the hotel and They Charge us DOLLARS for a 13 minutes Taxi we are a family group of 3 adults and 2 kids.
Most likely recommendation: CONTACT A PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION BEFORE ARRIVAL FOR EVERYTHING AND TRY TO BRING WATER, a bottle of water cost a lot in the hotel
