We loved everything about this place from the moment we walked in. Everyone was friendly, polite, and courteous, making us feel welcome right away. The food was amazing, with plenty of delicious options to choose from. Nothing ever felt rushed or forced, which made the experience even more relaxing. It’s the perfect getaway for couples looking to unwind and enjoy quality time together. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We've been to four different all inclusive resorts (Riu, Secrets, and now two through Excellence) and the Excellence Brand is by far our favorite. We stayed at the Beloved in March of this year and just got back from Excellence Riviera Cancun. Beloved was great for a short couples retreat while a five day stay with friends @ Riviera was perfect. We love that there is no sales pitch at the beginning of the stay at any Excellence.

Riviera Cancun has amazing food. The breakfast buffet was the best buffet we've had, the lunch & dinner options were all also all so good. My husband loves Indian food and went back to Basmati twice for Indian food. The naan and butter chicken were his favorites but nothing was bad. The martini bar in the main lobby building had amazing drinks. We booked the Teppanyaki experience for dinner and even with a pickier eater with us, all 6 of us enjoyed it.

The hotel offers many planned events and one we are so glad we did was the bike tour. A staff member leads the way about 2.5 miles off resort on a well paved service road to a downtown shopping area where you can get out and shop/take pictures for about 30 minutes and then head back. It was a nice 1.5 hour activity!

The beach is very important to us. While we enjoyed the beach at Beloved (Playa Mujeres) more, this beach is still nice. Here you'll still get a few vendors popping in to ask if you want a massage or cigar but they didn't annoy us.

Overall 10/10 and we plan to be back!

Excellent service from start to finish! Although the resort is a bit outdated, it is extremely well-maintained, clean, and has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, helpful, and attentive, which truly made my stay special. The entertainment was also fantastic.

The food exceeded my expectations. The Japanese restaurant was delicious, and the sushi was surprisingly good for an all-inclusive resort. I loved the food truck for quick bites, and being able to order food, including enchiladas, right at the Lazy River was such a nice touch. The french fries were excellent, and the room service was also impressive. The buffalo and barbecue chicken wings from room service were so good that I ordered them more than once!

The drinks deserve their own shout-out. This is not your typical all-inclusive with bottom-shelf liquor. The resort has a martini bar, excellent espresso martinis, great dirty martinis, and cocktails that tasted like they were made with quality, medium- to top-shelf liquor. As someone who enjoys Baileys and appreciates a good drink, I was genuinely impressed.

My only critiques are that the desserts were a bit underwhelming and the resort could use more maps or signage to help guests navigate the property. There are also quite a few local animals roaming around, including adorable coati-like creatures, but that’s simply part of the natural environment. Every single staff that we encounter and spoke with weather it was porters, cooks, bartender exc. everyone was amazing, respectful, welcoming and always greeting people. If we asked questions and they didn't know they would go and find someone who knew or find out and informed us. Great, time, also experience and we’ll definitely return and highly recommend this experience with everyone that wants a piece of mind for adults only.

The resort was just okay, a little run down and in need of some updating. There was a noticeable shortage of staff and when by the pool it was very rare someone came by to offer service. The food was lacking in flavor and was often cold. The chips were stale and chewy. Steakhouse was probably the best and that isn't saying much. What little staff we did interact with was pleasant. Check-in was slow and they didn't offer much information. I defiantly didn't get the royal treatment as with the other resorts I've been too. If you're looking for a quality resort, this isn't it.

The staff were amazing! Unlike some resorts we have stayed at in the past, they were friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely glad to be there. We loved the resort property, and amenities, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I have mobility challenges, but the resort was wheelchair friendly, and we were able to participate in every thing we wanted to do. Our only \"obstacle\" was we did not get to eat at Basmati due to there being stairs to get in, but we didn't worry about it. I have no doubt that the staff would have made a way to accommodate us if we had asked. We had a great week!

The Staff is what makes this place excellent. Fernando, a waiter was a stand out. He turned good dinners into great ones. The pool service was excellent as was the bartender. The resort grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. Rooms are definitely dated and can use updating. Our door had gaps around it and you could see daylight. Not the end of the world but if bugs were present it would be an issue. We did not go to the beach due to sargassum, the beach did look beautiful with plenty of chairs. Food was good across the board. Better than most all inclusive resorts. The only real negative was the cleanliness of the pools. First thing in the morning we would see napkins and leaves in the bottom of the pools the next day they were still there. We stayed in a club room. I do think it’s worth the upgrade because of the room view and the club pool with the bar, I wouldn’t upgrade just because of the alcohol selection and the club restaurant. Magna the club restaurant was good in my opinion but not great! I enjoyed the other restaurants just as much. All in all it is a beautiful resort, the staff are amazing! I would recommend it. I don’t know if I’d go back to the same hotel but would definitely try the Excellence brand again.

The property was beautiful and the lazy river was amazing. It was nice they had the quiet side and the louder/party side separated if you needed one or the other. The staff did an amazing job with my lactose intolerance and food was tasty. The beach was well kept and they did a great job of moving the seaweed. The room and shower were spacious. We had a great trip and met a lot of wonderful staff.

I just returned home and I’m still furious. My adult daughters and I wanted to go to the mall and Uber was a certain amount each way. Because I wanted to be safe I had the concierge call the bellhop to schedule a taxi. They obviously knew each other since he used the hotel’s visa machine. He charged me triple the cost of an Uber and the hotel simply said they use an outside service. Not realizing I saw him give the taxi driver the visa machine. I was totally taken advantage of and completely ruined the trip for us. It’s a matter of principle- Excellence Resorts do better. It’s scamy of you for a 5 star. I could see a bit of a up charge but this is ridiculous. There were not enough amenities. The bike tour was for a small number of people once a day and it was booked. That was pretty much the extent. The other items you needed to pay more to be a club member. The gym was very nice. Food was average.

Overall the stay was great, staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was a good number of restaurants to choose from, but the food was not as good as some other resorts I’ve been to. Nothing I tasted was really bad, but very few dishes I had were really good and memorable except for the Asian restaurant Spice, which by far was the best (and the only restaurant that required reservations on the resort at the time we were there).
The beaches were overrun by stinky seaweed, you couldn’t even walk on the beach and wanting to go in the water was out of the question. So if you want to snorkel or swim off the beach DO NOT go in June because I think it is a seasonal thing. You can still scuba dive if you go out far enough from the beach. The Lazy River at the resort made up for the lack of beach as best it could!
Also be careful about leaving valuables lying around while you go for a dip at the pools, my Kindle was stolen the first day I was there. Have no idea if it was a guest or staff.

They jump right on any reported issues immediately. Extremely friendly and engaging staff. Beautiful resort. 12 restaurants to choose from representing all different types of foods. Three large odd-shaped swimming pools with plenty of chairs and umbrellas around the pools and Beach areas.. sometimes during the year the seaweed also called sargasm, can pile up on the beach by the water and they do their best to try and keep a clear. But there's not a lot you can do about this. They set up many activities throughout the day and they have a Las Vegas style show every night in the theater area which accommodates a lot of people with many chairs and tables. Room prices will vary from $300 to $500 a night on average so it's actually relatively inexpensive also.

The group of 8, in our 50’s, had a wonderful time. So many pools, bars, restaurants to choose from that it felt like hardly anyone was there. Great restaurant choices at night, our group favorite was Chez. The wine cellar experience was worth the $. We started every day off in the lazy river, such a relaxing special treat.

We had a great stay at this resort in Cancun. The property is beautiful, with a charming colonial-style design and a very relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of activities throughout the day, so there's always something to do.
The food quality is good for an all-inclusive resort, with a nice variety of options. There are also plenty of bars throughout the property, and drinks are readily available.
I highly recommend upgrading to the Excellence Club, as it gives you access to better premium drinks, additional amenities, and two exclusive restaurants that are definitely worth it.
The only downside was the beach, which had a significant amount of seaweed during our stay. However, this appears to be seasonal and is not something the resort can fully control.
Overall, we enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing all-inclusive experience in Cancun.

Exceptional Stay at Excellence Riviera!! Our stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun was truly outstanding. The resort is beautifully maintained, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was exceptional throughout the resort, but a few venues stood out in particular. “Chez Isabelle” offered an outstanding fine-dining experience for dinner, while “The Lobster House” was fantastic for both lunch and dinner, serving fresh and delicious seafood in a beautiful setting. “Las Olas” became one of our favourite spots for casual snacks and light meals by the beach. We also loved “Aroma”- our favourite coffee & pastry & best ice cream place to go.
The pools were fantastic, providing plenty of space to relax, and the grounds were lush, peaceful, and impeccably cared for. The overall atmosphere was elegant, relaxing, and perfect for a couples’ getaway.
One important note for future travellers: if swimming in the ocean is a priority, void March-October seaweed season.
Excellence Riviera Cancun exceeded our expectations in every other way with its exceptional dining, beautiful pools, well-maintained grounds, and outstanding service. We would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing all-inclusive vacation in Cancun. 🌴☀️🍹✨

Food was sub-par with a few exceptions. The coffee shop was great. All the staff were great. The resort felt very safe. Pools and the beautiful grounds were clean and well kept. Very disappointed in the room. The phone and door safety lock did not work. The toilet and shower drains were slow. The room was so humid that the sheets felt damp. All my belongings smelled so musty that even after washing, deoderizing and airing everything out, some items from my suitcase will need to be disposed of.

Our stay was okay, but expected way better for the cost. Our AC and power went out multiple times and everything feels outdated. The service wasn’t very good, took forever to get drinks by the pool. The food was…. Eh. Very hit or miss just like any other all inclusive. When we complained about the air conditioning keep breaking the staff told us multiple times that they would treat us to a free stay, but then gave us a contract that said it’s only for a free upgraded room. It felt a little scheme-y because I confirmed several times that this was a for a free stay. The lazy river was also pretty dirty. One night they held a quiz night for people to scan a QR code to all play together and it was a kids quiz? Like literally about kids movies so that was odd since this is an adult only resort. Room service food was the best out of everything there.

Prior to booking I had issues with getting conflicting payments for ocean front room as I had been recovering from cancer and cannot walk too far to the beach. I talk to the manager once I got there and I was sad because they would not answer their phone prior to the trip and I would always go to voicemai the manager fixed everything for me and checked on me every day and make sure my trip was flawless. I feel so rested and recovered thanks to the empathy of the manager Magali. She made sure she contacted me every day to make sure everything was OK and even saw me when I left to go back to Dallas. The hotel is so clean and beautiful and lots to do the ocean was great the cabana was my best part and the food was amazing at every restaurant that we tried. The staff was amazing as well. Best Trip I've ever taken

Our stay at this resort was absolutely exceptional. Every aspect exceeded our expectations, from the beautiful accommodations and outstanding service to the delicious food and beautiful surroundings. The staff made us feel truly welcome, and every detail was handled with care. We had a perfect vacation and would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Mexico.

We spent five nights at the Excellence Riviera Cancun over Memorial Day weekend. We had a slight mix up with our room but Samuel rectified it for us. We stayed in a swim up room in Building 6. The beach wasn’t ideal with seaweed but we enjoyed the view and sound of the ocean regardless. They did a great job of trying to keep it clean. We loved the food, the entertainment and especially the lazy river. The dinner on the beach was amazing as well. We have stayed at many Excellence properties and really enjoyed this one. First off, it’s a nice resort and pretty much everything is included in the price. So if that’s your bag, don’t let the following put you off.

My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon and were disappointed.

Firstly, the food was generally quite basic/poor (with very few decent options for vegetarians/vegans) and there was a weird tendency towards either steak or shrimp, which seemed to dominate.

Secondly, there was an off-putting culture of basically trying to upsell the whole time e.g. I ordered a glass of wine in the French restaurant, to which the waiter ‘recommended’ that I have the bottle (I said no thanks, and the vintner did it again later on). This behaviour was similar for services such as transfers, etc.

Thirdly, there was an obnoxiousness from some guests that spoiled things. On one night we were awoken at 4am by a bunch of people speaking loudly on an adjacent balcony, and the general culture seemed to be to drink a lot of cocktails and get rowdy.

Appreciate that’s not everybody but it was enough to impact us.

As a resort that bills itself as ‘luxury’, it felt a bit showy, with more emphasis on volume and alcohol than genuine quality.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, although as I’ve said this was called into question when I refused to be upsold.

The property was absolutely gorgeous, and the staff was fantastic—especially Mark, who brought so much energy to the poolside activities. The theater show La Fiesta Mexico was amazing, and both the buffet and show‑night food were excellent.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the ceviche.
As for the beach, the ocean had quite a bit of algae, but the sand was beautiful and the chair setup and accommodations were great.

Overall, an exceptional place to stay.

Our stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun was amazing from beginning to end. The hotel is exceptionally clean, and the staff truly goes above and beyond to keep the rooms spotless and comfortable at all times. All of the restaurants are à la carte, which makes the dining experience feel much more upscale and personalized, and the pool is absolutely beautiful, stretching throughout much of the resort and creating a very relaxing atmosphere. Although the beach itself is not the best in the area, the hotel staff works very hard every day to keep the seaweed under control and maintain the beach as clean as possible. Overall, it was a very relaxing and high-quality experience with outstanding service.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay. My wife has SEVERE latex and banana allergies as well as others we haven’t pinpointed yet and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR HER. She was able to request what she wanted from The Kitchen Table for breakfast and they would personally make it each morning to avoid all contamination. We also let them know where we would have lunch and dinner and the chefs would come out and reassure us that everything was made separate for her to avoid any contamination. Everyone checked on us everywhere we went and it was soooo important to us that they took it so seriously. Of course she couldn’t help but end up having allergic reaction right as we were waiting to leave. We aren’t sure to what as it was completely random. The doctor was able to give her medicine and an injection and monitor her. Because of this we missed our transportation but the hotel provided us a taxi and we made it to our flight! We cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the staff. And to add to it, the food was 1000/10. It was SOOOO good everywhere we ate. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much to Fernando and Chef Benjamin and the manager of the Kitchen Table. You made this trip absolutely perfect.

Went on a solo trip. Almost none of the staff I walked past acknowledged me any saying hello, not even making any eye contact. I was sitting by the pool for over an hour and no staff came over to ask if I wanted order anything. I could see a waitress across the pool taking orders a couple of times but she never bother to walk around.
There was some repair work being done on only way to the section where my room was, I had to walk on the grass and gravel to get through multiple times everyday.
The beach was nice but I wasn’t impressed by the drinks or food.

Our stay truly exceeded every expectation. From the second we arrived, you could immediately feel how organized, polished, and intentional the entire experience was. We were welcomed with the sweetest anniversary surprise.. champagne, fruit, and a happy anniversary ribbon on our door which instantly made the trip feel special & personal. Even the arrival process stood out. Champagne at front entrance. Then inside after check the bellhop met us at welcome bar & personally escorted us to our room, toured the room with us, explained everything and made us feel completely welcomed. What impressed us most was the level of service across the entire resort. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. You can genuinely tell the staff is exceptionally well trained, and everyone works together seamlessly to create an elevated luxury experience that still feels relaxed and welcoming.The restaurants were outstanding- honestly some of the best all-inclusive food we’ve had. Room service was also delicious. The property itself was spotless at all times and beautifully maintained. We also loved how spread out the pools were. Most never felt overcrowded, which made it easy to relax and enjoy different areas of the resort. The swim-up bar pool was definitely the liveliest and busiest. The excellence club, beach section, and private pool access made the experience feel even more elevated. Overall I give it a 10. We are going to book again for same time next year!

I just wanted to say that I wasn’t impressed about this Hotel. Not everyone was friendly, the help desk was ok! All I can say is that they did their job. I can’t say above and beyond friendly like other hotels I have stayed in Cancun.
I really had high expectations but overall was ok.

I just want to mention a couple people that I was very impressed about their service. Hugo the pool waiter and Jose the gentleman that assist with luggage both were above and beyond friendly, attentive, respectful and very helpful.

Other thing I want to mention that I was very disappointed is that we are not obligated to use the taxis outside the hotel. We as guest have our freedom to choose our own transportation. I called uber several times and the taxi guys were very rude to them. I understand they see them as competitors but is not their fault is our decision to call them and I think this should be addressed by the hotel management due to the guests feels disrespected every time the taxi guys gets rude and disrespectful to the uber drivers.

Overall was Ok. Nice property .

Very clean and well put together property. The staff in all aspects was attentive and eager to help or serve. The pools are cleaned every early morning as I was up early to see them scrubbing. The rooms were great. Clean and the air was perfect. The beach was beautiful, but the ocean was less than desirable. I touched it once and that was enough. Maybe it was the season? To that end, I stayed in the pool areas and I was very happy with that experience.

Highly recommend this resort. Price v Experience is top notch. 25 minutes from the airport is a big plus as well.

I was a single traveler to this resort for 4 days because the spa is fantastic. This resort had very little singles (mostly couples), but the environment is so relaxing that everyone talks to everyone.

Food was better than expected in every restaurant. The seafood dishes were fantastic. Olas has a great augachile dish which hits perfect for lunch.

Wonderful stay. Great mix of food options and all were high quality. We liked the smaller portions so that you could try different menu items. There were many places to hang out depending on if you wanted to be closer to a party atmosphere (blue pool bar) or more relaxed (lazy river and beach area). Would highly recommend. The only downside to the resort was the seaweed on the beach but that was due to the time of year and the hotel workers were working their best to have the area in front of the resort cleared.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful especially noticeable during our nightly walks. Food for the most part was really good (4.5), although wish there was a better variation for lunch. Drinks were great and not watered down like in most resorts. There was a wonderful variety of things to do which made staying 7 days feel short. Given the price I paid ( not cheap), I would rate my experience a 4.5 but averaging up as half stars aren't accepted and feel a 4 rating would not do this resort justice. Would definitely consider going again.

My only beef, unrelated to the resort experience, is that all subsequent ads I've received for Excellence resorts quote prices in USD (instead of CAD) which is always more expensive once I do the conversion than booking through a Cdn site.

Pros: Staff, layout, restaurant availability, small but intimate, an effort with activities, gym, tennis and pickle ball with bikes available. Property is kept up with, bars, beach cabanas and shows, rooms are huge.

Cons: the beach is not clear, cannot snorkel, the spa services are extremely overpriced, gf saw bar staff pouring bottle water in an alcohol bottle, some portions for dinners are small, food at steak house and spice hibachi grill was poor. Wish they had later activities, the night ends at 11-12 leaving much to desire for night time fun

We loved the property! The pool and lazy river were phenomenal. Swim up bar was awesome and the pool entertainment was decent(we were hoping for better and a little more interactive)The beach was beautiful but unfortunately the water was very brown due to the tides bringing in seaweed. Downwind, had quite the stench! Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay immensely! Staff was really friendly! Maid service cleaned our room twice a day(wait what? ) Fully stocked bar!! Restaurants were above average and entertainment was actually pretty good.
We are basically: Get up, work- out, breakfast,pool, cocktails,nap, shower, dinner, more cocktails, dance or show and more cocktails then bed! And whatever in between!😂
Overall great place for the $$$$$. We'll definitely return again!
