This was our 3rd stay at the Hacienda Morales. We love it! It’s a basic hotel, has everything we need! Great location to all the restaurants and short walk to town square. Large grocery store a block away. Small refrigerator in the room for sodas etc. The scuba diving is right next door. Only thing that can be sketchy is the internet isn’t great, there is WiFi, but not always working well. But we enjoy the beach, pool and diving so it’s good for our needs. I highly recommend it for budget conscience travelers!

The beds are hard as rocks and the wifi is limited. Wifi worked for my friends on the pool side of the hotel but we got nothing on our end. The location is great, centrally located right next to the beach, but PM is a small town you can easily get around on foot. The restaurant is amazing but it's a completely different entity and operates independent of the hotel.

The view and location of the hotel are great. It's rated as 3 star so we didn't expect otherwise. The room and bed were comfortable (we like firm beds, so unlike others, this worked for us). The staff at the front desk were respectful and helpful within the limits of their role. Room cleaning was offered each day but was limited in terms of what was done, mostly she would make the bed and tidy a bit. The floors were never thoroughly cleaned, we had some very visible coffee drip stains that made it through the week, for example. The restaurant is a separate business but it was quite good. It was nice to fill our bottles with water in the lobby. Coffee in lobby from 730-930 daily was just ok with coffee whitener and sugar provided. No tea so we brought our own tea and a kettle from home to make it in the room. Grocery store across the street and restaurants all around was great. On-line reviews were mostly helpful to find a good restaurant each day. In all, thouh we've been to the Mayan coast, we always did all inclusive and used the resort as a base camp to explore the area. This was our first time not doing all inclusive and it was generally ok. The all inclusive option, depending what you choose, all in is probably less expensive. Going out to restaurants every day starts to add up for our budget. Most nights we were spending $60-80 cdn for a meal with a drink or two. We tried to keep things simple generally and were surprised Mexico is as expensive asCanada now

I hate to do this, but they really need to update the hotel. Its very old and worn. Upon arriving, they put us in a room that was not what I had paid for. After speaking with the manager and threatening to go elsewhere, they let me have the room I paid for, but not for my daughter and her partner. I know this is not a 5-star hotel, but there were rat droppings in the room.
I can't emphasize enough that this hotel needs upgrading.

I loved this little hotel on the beach. Lots of lounge chairs, nice staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, small fridge. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great but manageable. OMDelphin dive shop is attached to this hotel which was very convenient. I did 7 dives, a 2-hour snorkeling and a cenote tour with this shop. I'll be coming back in April 2027.

Don't book this hotel.

Here are some of the issues we found:

There are three rooms in the hotel with no balcony and we, unfortunately, booked one. It was poorly maintained and had very old furniture in it. We had to pay to upgrade to a room with a terrace.

The bathroom flooded in the new room we upgraded to.

The toilet in the upgraded room had a problem so water was always leaking into the bowl from the cistern.

The hotel, in general, is rather shabby. It desperately needs a refurb. Old paint, mouldy tile grout, gaps around windows/doors let mosquitoes in, furniture is of low quality etc etc.

On the plus side, the room had decent AC and fridge.

If you choose to stay in PM, choose one of the hotels further north, about 100m from the leaning lighthouse. The beach is better there too.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Morelos. Location is great, convenient and great views from the beach. We stayed on a ground floor room. So convenient for access to pool and beach. Had all the basic amenities we needed, front desk staff were kind and friendly. Our concerns were as follows: broken glass on the pool deck, right where our room was, not cleaned up for 2 days. Water pressure in toilet meat you had to flush 2-3 times to get the bowl to empty. 2 of our 5 days the pool was taken over by scuba classes by on site business, so you couldn't swim. That said, we loved the staff, and location, which made up for some of the concerns. Price was right as well.

This place is literally on the beach which is great. The surrounding area is nice with a lot of shops and restaurants. The room itself smelled very musty and I’m glad we only stayed one night. Unfortunately the entire beach is lit up with lights at night which made it hard to see stars.

Properly right on the beach which is awesome. Great location to restaurants, the town square, and the pier.
Room service varied each day. One day we would receive clean towels and wash clothes, the next day might be one less towel and no wash cloth. Each day was different. Our room was 109 and a perfect spot. The room needs an upgrade however. We would stay there again .

We absolutely loved Hacinda Morelos! It was right on a gorgeous beach, all rooms are ocean view with good size balconies. It is not super fancy but has perfect Mexican character and a lovely pool. It is right across from the Chaudraul supermarket and close and conviienent to all the restaurants and shops in Puerto Morelos. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Also has a great onsite dive center and great massage parlor right next door.

The location is excellent if you like an small hotel. The cleaning was wonderful everyday. The hotel could/ should have an ice machine because we need to buy it from the restaurant for $ 1.50 USD per small glass. They could/ have some microwaves for guess use. This two things will do the stay a lot more pleasurable.
Don't stay in the room close to the restaurant because they start the day at 6:00 am and you can hear their noise.

We had an ocean view room with a balcony. The beach was very nice. The staff at the front desk bordered on rude. The room was fine if you’re used to Mexican hotel standards—tired furnishings, poor quality bedding, no water in room, no hairdryer, only 2 bath towels and one hand towel provided, no towel bar. If the hotel was half the price it would be great. They’re getting by because of their location, definitely not their standards or service.

There were a few minor annoyances but nothing that wouldn’t make us stay again(already booked again for Sept). For one, wish they put the complimentary coffee out at 6am verses 7:30. They only issue one key, if you want another, you have to pay $5 deposit. The rooms are pretty basic, so if you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t the place. But if you’re looking for chill, relaxing, and good vibes…. This is it!

Fantastic location and a good value. This hotel is quaint and clean and right on the beach! The have a nice restaurant attached which was an easy alternative when we didn’t feel like walking to one of the many delightful local restaurants. The local supermarket is also almost right across the road. And if you’re a scuba diver or like to snorkel, OmDelfin is also on premise and has one of the best crews anywhere! The only thing that would have made our stay absolutely perfect would have been a “Do Not Disturb” sign for our door. The housecleaning staff often came by at the most inconvenient times, but truly, a minor complaint. Overall, our stay was amazing and we’ll definitely stay here next time we visit Puerto Morelos :)

A women at the front desk most days was rude in multiple interactions, the pool has many missing tiles that could cause injury and twice we had no maid service (it’s supposed to be daily). The restaurant and their staff were very good but it was very expensive for what you got. The beach was nice. The room was terrible.
You had to lift the door to open so that it did not scrape along the floor. The smell from the sewer was not nice. We kept the lid to the toilet shut and blocked the drains. That helped but not perfect. We did not have a Carbon Monoxide detector, but a guest close to us did and it was very high. Everything in the room was old tired, sheets with stains, towels were old. I'm glad we were only there 4 days. We are now in an Air B&B away from the beach and we are much happier. You should not offer this hotel as a choice for your customers.

Much below expectations. We trusted the positive rating, but ultimately, it's more like rooms above a restaurant (excellent, but run by a separate company) than a proper hotel. The rooms were clean but run-down and more than basic (at least the ones without a balcony). The staff was barely polite and showed no attention to extra needs. We forgot a sweatshirt, and they refused to ship it to us, even though I offered to pre-pay the shipping label. The third star is only for the beach and the location.

Falling asleep listening to the ocean waves, the incredible view, beach chairs that were always available, super clean, just steps away from a great grocery store with plenty of ready to go options, dive shop on site…everything was wonderful and we loved this little fishing town. Pros: you get nice beach views no matter what room you’re in. The ground floor (no balcony) option you get direct access to the pool and the steps to beach are also right outside your door.

The hotel is on the quieter side of town. Right on the edge of everything else which I personally enjoyed. I love my quietness.

They have a good restaurant connected to it and also option for snorkeling/diving and other things connected to the hotel. So Everything you need is there.

Also, free coffee every morning for guests.

Cons: No elevators. Stairs only, they are narrow.

Sheets are super thin. I was cold most nights but I brought socks thank goodness!

No microwave. I got take home food twice and couldn’t warm it up.

The inside isn’t the best, definitely don’t book if you’re looking for luxury.
I’d book again due to the views and the side of town it’s on. I love it. Employees are all excellent! Super helpful and kind staff!

Very quaint hotel older well kept except room 102 had a gap that let in mosquitoes and ants in . On top and Btm of door . They had a foam strip across but you can still see lots of light in between the door and outside . Best room for gorgeous sunrise from bed ! We have been to Puerto Morelos 5 times and have stayed here every time. The staff is SO nice. The hotel is a little older, its not one of the fancy resorts but it is ON the beach. Across from the grocery store and within walking distance of anything you could need. Muelle Once is the restaurant there and it is DELICIOUS. Have the pancakes!!! Hacienda Morelos is an absolutely wonderful property! The staff is top notch and the convenience of eateries nearby and the supermarket is unmatched. The hotel restaurant is pricey, but decent. There are plenty more places nearby that are so much better! I’m already planning my next stay at Hacienda Morelos.
