There is a $15 parking fee and their parking lot is crowded. My room was not properly cleaned which definitely put a dent in my experience, but I commend the staff for their professionalism and politeness.

Our stay this past weekend at the Best Western Historical Inn in St. Augustine was disappointing. When we first arrived and entered our room, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned properly. We found hair in the bathroom, contact lenses on the bathroom floor, and even a fingernail in the sink. There was also additional hair and debris on the floor, which made the room feel unsanitary and left us questioning the overall cleanliness.

The location is convenient, but cleanliness is one of the most important parts of any hotel stay, and unfortunately this experience fell well below expectations. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves their housekeeping standards so future guests don’t have the same experience.

The pictures and high score from reviews is very misleading. The reality is that this is an old poorly maintained hotel. Moldy smell in the room came through after being there for a minute or so, after my nose calmed down from the impact of a very strong artificial smell subsided. Most all aspects of the room were dirty. The white bedspreads were stained but more from a lack of being washed. The floor was dirty. The bathroom had visible dirt and debris on the counter, sink, and floor. There was a very large spider web (<12”) in the doorway of the entrance to the room. And small spiders in the room. It doesn’t seem like the room was actually cleaned between guests. Pricing closer to motel rates would be more appropriate considering the poor condition and maintenance.

We stayed for two nights and got in late the first evening. The lady at the front desk made checking in a breeze, was so helpful and kind! The room was nice and well kept, the only minor issue was the shower needed a good cleaning. The breakfast was good, nothing special but filling for a good start to the day. Overall we had a fantastic stay and look forward to coming back one day!!

When I checked in the service clerk was super nice very friendly, but then I got to my room it was dirty, the floors probably haven’t been cleaned in months , The chair in the room looks like it just came out of storage and has debris all in it, The towels in the bathroom Dingy there was little bugs Crawling on the floor and I chopped that up too I was on the first floor. They crawl in from underneath the front door whatever so.I overlook those things. This is where I draw a line I had shut the lights off to go to sleep and got up to go to the bathroom a little while later, And when I turn the light on there was cockroaches Scattering! I didn’t expect it to be a five star hotel, but clean is what I did expect with no bugs especially cockroaches!! I’ll be leaving I’m not finishing out the rest of my reservation and want a refund,,, I 10 out of 10 Do Not recommend to come here!!!

Update I got my refund and the manager was very nice also other staff but I still do not recommend staying here unless you’re ok with the provided “roommates” that may go home with you!

Unfortunately we didn't get to stay here, the room we were given was dirty and the second option wasn't any better. The only positive side was the manager didn't argue with me when I requested a refund and we went on down the road (same road) and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Place. Very nice and clean and helpful and friendly staff especially the breakfast employees. We booked the Hilton immediately through Expedia. Expedia did their job requesting a refund although the Best Western wasn't answering the phone or emails at first it was escalated and taken care of and I was fully refunded. The pictures online don't match how it looks in person. The Hilton Garden Inn is directly across the road from the Oil Jail Museum, History museum area + fountain of youth. And trolley stop and pick up tours. You walk across the parking lot and cross the back road. Less busy highway. If you're not staying in the historic district, I recommend spending the extra money and staying at the Hilton. We even had a balcony overlooking the pool. We felt safe there and clean but not so much not even a mile back down the road at Best Western Historical Inn. I am starting to realize before we checked in why locals weren't wanting to say anything nice about the hotel.

The only thing needed was a bed/mattress update. The bathroom was beautifully updated and the room modernized as well;however, the bed closest to the door was broken underneath I think. Every time I moved it made annoying noise that woke up my friend in the other bed, and I slept horribly. Everything else about the room was perfect really!!

We got a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. When you first get into the room it looks great but after I really looked it was not clean. I went to pull a pot out the drawer it still had dried food at the bottom. The dishes in the dishwasher were still dirty. The coffee maker still had old coffee in it and was dirty. The microwave had food stains inside. The couches where old and fabric was stained. The dinning room table was very nice but the glass had grease on it. The beds seemed clean. The service was slow. I called to get another trash bag and waited nearly an hour for it. This hotel is very small. Only 2 floors. The breakfast was ok. The second day they seemed to run out of food by 8am. Breakfast starts at 7. The room itself was very nice and spacious. I just wish they did a better job of cleaning it.

Arrived Friday night to a Rooms were filled with roaches complained about it front desk staff knew that room was filled with bugs and roaches and still did nothing- the lady was nice but the other front desk was terrible
Hotel guest were standing outside parking spots holding spots and didn’t let anyone park

Room service still went into our toom while the privacy sign was on.

TERRIBLE never had this experience before

I don’t suggest anyone to stay here !

It was my 1st and last time.

we stayed overnight, they did not clean our room or give us clean towels. Had to ask mgr for towels. we checked in couple hours early, they charged us $25, and parking was $15 a night. ugh. also woke up to a termite on my bed !!!

The shades wouldn’t open and no maintenance staff to fix them. The bathroom had hair on the floor and the sliding barn style door wouldn’t slide without coming off the track plus it was filthy. There was a man’s handprint on the headboard that was clearly visible. The remote had missing buttons and was in terrible shape. I was shocked. I would never recommend this hotel and I don’t think I will ever stay in another Best Western.

Overall, the hotel was fine. While it wasn't right in the historical downtown area, it's close enough that you can walk (about 25 minutes) or take a quick Uber. One complaint is that we went out on Saturday night and returned late. There were no parking spots available when we returned. You have to pay $15 per night for parking, so I expect that the hotel has enough parking spots for everyone that paid the feel. Evidently, that is not the case. Also, the thermostat blinked on and off all night the second night - lighting up the room and clicking each time. We were going to report it at check out, but there was no one at the front desk when we checked out and no one to be found, so we just left.

Very economical stay in St. Augustine. The manager of the hotel is fantastic and very helpful. It's conveniently located about a mile from the touristy areas, and about 3 blocks from the start of the Old Trolley Hop on Hop Off tour. I would have liked a couple of more breakfast offerings like yogurt, hard boiled eggs, sausage or something similar.

The rooms are not bad. Clean. I had to ask for a different one because the air conditioner made a weird noise and drove me crazy. The gentleman that helped was amazing and made sure we got a new room quickly. The only thing that didnt sit right was the paid parking. All the hotels around the samw area had free parking, this ine charges $15 a night and we were their for 6 nights. It can add up.

The suite has a nice layout with a full kitchen. It is really close to area attractions. The General Manager was super friendly and helpful. The maintenance man that came to help us with issues in the room was also very friendly and helpful. The staff here get 10 stars!

We had some issues with the bathroom during the stay and we understand it is a historical area so plumbing can be tricky. Especially when previous guests apparently flushed bars of soap. So not really the fault of the hotel but an inconvenience for us. Would come back and stay again for the location and the wonderful staff.

We had a severe thunderstorm on the Sunday and that did something to our toilet, it wouldn't flush properly...we made them aware at checkout on Monday.
Breakfast was mediocre, not a fan of the corn beef hash nor the cheese omelets (it was like cheese whiz).
My only BIG complaint is the fact that no one (Hotels.com or the Hotel itself at check-in) told us that they charge a $15 parking fee for each night on top of what you booked. It came to me as a surprise when I looked at my bill after leaving. Had I known that, I would have looked for somewhere else as the prices were already steep for the weekend at a Best Western.

I was disappointed in the cleaning of my room. Last day of stay I asked 2times for new towels and bathroom cleaning. We were gone 10am to 4pm. At 7:30pm no one touched my room and I went to front office again for towels and wash clothes. Breakfast was terrible compared to where we stay days before at Home2suites. No more stays at a Best Western sticking with Hilton properties

Minimal breakfast. I rented the suite presumably because Expedia gave me a good rate. It was big but poorly designed and rennovated: no dresser to unpack in, TVs hung at an angle, paper towel holder and dishwasher in kitchen but no paper towels or dishwasher soap. I was on the 2nd floor but there was no elevator. If elevators matter to you, beware. (Desk manager offered to help carry stuff up. )

This inn was exceptionally welcoming and pleasant. Manager Jorge was extremly friendly and helpful, the complimentary breakfast offered a good range of selections, and my room was large, clean, elegant and well maintained. I was sorry to leave, and next time I return to St Augustine there's no question that I will stay here again.

The property is fine, it's just very noisy, with Hwy 1 right next to our room. We had the nicest room in the hotel, but it's also the closet to the highway.
Just a few minor issues...lampshade broken, weird furniture layout, very noisy bedroom door.

The room was very clean, although a bit small. A larger chair or small couch would have been preferred for relaxing at night. Staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was a bit lacking in choices. Maybe a yogurt bar using the options there already for oatmeal toppings?? Sausage, bacon or hash browns would add some nice variety.

Room size is good, beds were good sized and comfy. Bathroom was clean, good water pressure, mini fridge worked well. The AC in the first room didn’t work. We woke up around 3am sweating. We were moved into a different room, and that rooms door didn’t close unless you pushed hard, and even then there’s a huge gap between the door and the frame all the way around. Parking is a nightmare, there are very limited spots. We were told to park at the hotel next door and they were full too.

It’s just a rule of thumb, never expect a hotel bed to be the same as yours at home 👍 The biggest amenity this hotel has to offer and was such a life saver for us was they serve breakfast every morning 😊 That was awesome and it was good food and you had different things to choose from every morning!! NOW, the difference between BW Historical Inn from BW Bay Front Inn is location !! Bay Front Inn is in the “Heart” of all the action !! You don’t have to worry about paying additional parking every time you want to go somewhere, everything is in walking distance !! Bay Front Inn doesn’t offer that awesome breakfast every morning like the Historic Inn does BUT the Historic Inn is only in walking distance to the Oldest Jail & the Fountain of Youth, you want to go anywheres else you’re going to have to drive and pay for additional parking !! SO, both BW Hotels in the Historic District of St. Augustine are great one offers a convenience the other doesn’t, it will be up to you to decide what you’re willing to give up 👍 For my Wife and I, not having to worry about driving and paying to park all the time is everything!! Yes, you can take the Trolly but we don’t like to be on a time schedule, Bay Front Inn is in walking distance to everything, you don’t like using public restrooms ?? just walk back to your hotel, Convince is Everything !!

Booked a king room through expedia, the room that was booked for us was honestly extremely disappointing and gross, bathroom was the worse part. The room smelled like mildew covered up with bleach. We complained and they switched our room. It was much better, updated bathroom, the room smelled decent and the walls were less depressing. Self serve breakfast was honestly very good. Staff was nice and accommodating. 8/10.

The room was in good condition. However, the thermostat in the room appeared to be not adjustable. We stayed during the cold spell and the room was cold at night and we were without extra blankets. By morning the heat was blowing hard again even though we had not changed the thermostat.
