So very convenient access to transportation to anywhere. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Nice bedding and pillows. The fridge and a/c were great. I would suggest a couple more hooks in the bathroom for towels and a robe, also more room lighting. The only thing that was a bit of an issue was the size of the shower. It is very small and water gets out easily. Over all I enjoyed my stay.

Linen is clean but bathroom design is not 100%. If they can change the carpet to laminate floor or PVC floor it will make the room look a lot cleaner.

Perfect location when needing to be near the station. Lovely staff. Just slightly let down as nothing in the fridge (as advertised) and only one bath robe instead of two. But minor things and easily remedied. Would definitely recommend.

Cramped. Tiny beds. Bathroom door jammed and would only open halfway. Burned out bathroom lights. Shower drained so slowly that water needed to be turned off after 2-3 minutes to prevent flooding. Constant fan noise from adjacent room’s AC. Could not wait to leave.

Reasonably Priced, Fantastic Location, Great Stay
We were there in 21 June, 2024. We did not know that it was a celebration of music on the longest day of the year. It was fantastic! Everywhere we went there was music blaring and dancing and singing and skating, and people just having a blast and living in the moment! There was a DJ playing music u til midnight across the street. It was fantastic. When it stopped it was quiet enough to sleep.
The hotel is in a prime location for public transportation and for food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Paris.

The place was big enough considering we are in Paris. There’s also a Metro just outside the hotel and grocery. Plenty of restaurants and fast food in a walking distance.

The hotel location is convenience as there are many restaurants around and very close to Metro station. The hotel house keeping was excellent and supplies are very good. However, there is no desk in the room. There is no mirror near a electrical socket where you can use the hair drier conveniently.

Le Ballu is a great small hotel option in the Saint Lazare/Pigalle area of 9th arrondissement. The hotel itself is very nice inside, love the deep colors, staff was very attentive and helpful. We had one dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was top quality and a nice ambiance in the back courtyard, plus excellent wine by the glass at reasonable prices. Our room was a bit bigger than Paris-standard, nicely laid out, very cool finishes. And the bed was sooooo comfortable! The area around the hotel is a real Paris neighborhood, which was great. Extremely quiet street, but just around the corner everything you could want in terms of coffee, different food options, etc. Walking distance to Gare Saint Lazare if you need that, and Metro close by. Far enough from the nightlife of Pigalle, which we don't need, but you could get there easily if you wanted that.

Nice convenient location as walking distance to Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, and the Metro. Lots of restaurants, grocery stores all within 1-2 blocks. Only issue is they need to have some homeless people leave that area and it may be concerning

I was in Paris on business for 1 night, and unfortunately chose the wrong hotel. The location is fine if you want to be in the middle of things as a tourist, but it looks out over a busy road junction/ pedestrian area and with hindsight, I should have looked properly and chosen a quieter road. It's right next to Gare de l'est and asides from between midnight and about 6am, there was the sound of metro trains travelling underground every 2 or 3 minutes.
The room was quite small but clean. A bit scruffy with no desk or place to work. I thought the website was unclear as it says \"our room service is open 24 hours\". When I got there, it was made clear there was \"no food\" - I would have preferred a meal in the room and to work in the evening, but couldn't do either of those. I think the room service is just for snacks from a vending machine or something similar.
Communication with the guy on the front desk when I arrived was tricky, my basic French and his basic English meant there were a couple of things I wasn't sure of.
I was thinking of going for a run in the evening and was pleasantly surprised to see the hotel had provided a 5KM running route along the nearby canal. I thought I'd give it a go, but wouldn't recommend it. Much of the canal path is inaccessible or cobbled, and while the area was OK, the canal was lined with loads of people sat on the banks of the canal smoking weed. Not really a place to exercise. Should have chosen a more boring \"business\" hotel.

I have stayed in numerous hotels in a variety of areas in Paris. This hotel was in a good location (for ease of transportation). The surrounding area was not the best but it is ok if you are used to being in a city. The beds were comfy, plush towels and robes were an extra benefit. The staff was excellent- super friendly and certainly went the extra mile to help any request. The noise from the subway/trains was present but we were always so exhausted that it didn’t matter. Maybe just pack some earplugs for sleeping. The air conditioning was great too! Overall a great place!

I would rate this between 3-4 (average to very good). The hotel is ideally located close to Gare Du Nord (a ten minute walk) and across from Gare d l’est. There is also a metro stop right outside. You have to buzz the door to get inside every time, having a key work on the door would be better. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our bags as we arrived before check in and the hotel helpfully had them placed in our room for when we checked in. There is no actual baggage room (that I was aware of) so I did not leave personal items. The rooms were nice and the bed was very comfy. They weren’t the biggest but I found it had enough room for us to walk around. The shampoo and shower gel were refilled on a daily basis. A kettle or coffee machine in the room would have been ideal. The walls were quite thin and we could hear banging in the room above us. The location itself didn’t have the best feel about it but we never felt unsafe. There was a supermarket just next to the hotel. Overall we had a nice stay here and the location was good for access to the metro to get us where we needed to go.

The lobby and entrance are tiny and horrible. The carpet in the room is old and dirty. The room is far from what shown on the website. Location is bad too. Don’t even choose to eat breakfast there. Over all will give this hotel a 2 star

Fantastic hotel, service and location
This hotel was fantastic. Check-in and check-out we’re super easy, they checked my bag before check-in when we got to Paris, and kept my bag for the entire day after check-out before we caught our train home in the evening. It was super convenient being across the street from the Gare de l’Est. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. The room was small but clean and had everything we needed. They even a couple drinks in the mini fridge in the room waiting for us. Everything was really great and I’d stay there again in a second. Probably stay there when we head to Paris again. Not too expensive, definitely worth the money.

The stay at the hotel was comfortable. However the exhaust from the kebab shop would drift upwards of your room is facing the road.
Room and shower was great, I rest well before my trip home.
Breakfast was mediocre. Rather disappointed that there was no choice of eggs for breakfast for a 4-star hotel. Worse case was no bacon or sausage for 2nd day of stay.

Check in wasn’t very smooth. The concierge seemed confused on everything - payment, where my bags were (dropped them off early prior to check in time), forgot to ask for my passport and later came up to grab it.
Later on for check out when asking for a cab to the train statin I was told they couldn’t find me one. Later I found out on my own that there was a strike and the trains were down due to a storm. I believe these are things the concierge should know.

It's a good price-quality transaction. The hotel is located near two large train stations that connect you with the most touristic attractions of Paris. The place is clean and the personnel very kind. The rooms, however, are smaller than it seems in the pictures.

It was a one night stay for us, just needing a room near the train stations for a quick turnaround before flying out of CDG. The hotel was exceptionally convenient to both train stations and the rooms were small but clean and modern. Great location! Metro right next door. Gare du Nord 10 minute walk. De l'Est across street. So you can get anywhere easily. Had a junior suite on 7th floor. Air conditioned! 5 nights. Plenty of space. Comfortable bed. nice bathroom. Great views over city and Montmartre from our room. Breafast available, though we did not partake. Sure smelled good. Tons of restautants and cafes right around. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is no real fridge in the room, just a wine cooler. There is an expresso machine, but if you need boiling water ask for a kettle. The hotel entrance is a norrow secured entry, lobby on first floor. Grocery store next door. Rates were reasonable for Paris in the summer. We were pleased.

Hotel is very nice for short stay. Room is small but inside is everything what you need, very comfortable bed, fridge, safe, wi-fi. Everything is modern and clean. Nice bathroom with lovely cosmetics. Few minutes walk from \"Nord\" rail station. Close to metro station. Around You can find bars and restaurants, shops. Delicious breakfast, big choice (we did not expected such a big choice in France :-) Very nice and helpful staff. We recommend this hotel to stay in amazing Paris, beautiful city of love, full of atractions and places where you can spend unforgettable time.

It was one of the worse hotels I stayed in Paris. Our room was a superior room but it was so tiny and the AC wasn't working. When we asked to move us to another room, they claimed they were fully booked. The location is not good despite it's just opposite one of the main train stations \"Gare de l'est\". The area isn't clean , very noisy and not safe. The subway runs underneath the hotel so you get the feeling there is an earthquake when in the room. We only stayed one night for $240.- I would never rate it a 4 star hotel ! Not worth the money by all means.

We only wanted a place to stay for one night. While the room was small it was perfect for us and its closeness to Gare du L'est where we were leaving from the next day made it ideal. If our stay was more than a few days my rating would not be as high as the smallness of the room would be inhibiting.

I had not realized that there was no coffee machine nor kettle for tea or herbal tea in the room. I missed having that in the morning and at night. however, we had a fridge to keep water and juice. Mattress and pillows were great. We had great night sleep after walking all around Paris!

We stayed in 4 different hotels during our 10 day trip. This hotel and room was the smallest and I say that not just because I am an American, but it was compared to the other hotels we stayed in within Europe and Paris. The room did look modern and did have that cruise ship feel. It seemed safe and the staff was friendly. I think that it is only considered 4 stars because it offers additional services, at an additional cost, for massage, spa, baby sitting, etc. Overall it was good.
