I recently stayed at the Middle Eight hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience upon departure.
After check-out I left my luggage in storage and went out before my flight. Shortly after, I realized that I had accidentally left a sealed box of premium cheeses in my room. The items were fully closed and vacuum-sealed.
I returned to the front desk and spoke with Saq, who kindly checked with the team and informed me that the housekeeper had already taken the items and could return them in about 40 minutes. Unfortunately, I had to leave for the airport and could not wait.
What troubled me most was not the mistake, but the handling of it. I was clearly told that my belongings were with a staff member who had taken them. In a hotel of this level, personal items left in a room should be placed in the lost and found, not taken home by staff.
I contacted the hotel about this issue a week ago and, disappointingly, no one has responded.
This situation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and disappointed with the way it was handled.

From the moment we arrived and throughout the entire four days we were there they went above and beyond to ensure we were always comfortable had everything we need, including providing really great recommendations to restaurants, shopping, and even helping us get tickets to a game. The room was clean. Only complaints are could not keep the sink stopper up, we had to place toilet paper to prop it up. The cups were not replaced in the room. I used one and left it downstairs. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We had robes, slippers, nespresso and the mini fridge was stocked with water, soda, one time only but the water more than once. The staff was very helpful, from the front desk, servers and housekeepers. Awesome toiletries, great shower. Heater worked wonderfully. The breakfast is expensive, little choice and bland.

This is nice looking hotel, which has had a total refurbishment, the entrance is very modern and welcoming, as are the staff. The rooms are clean, well designed and has a nice vibe about the place. Welcome drink on arrival, small gesture but gives a good start to the stay. Location is great, close to Holborn tube and Covent Garden just a short walk away. The only thing I have to mention is the heating/air conditioning, bizarely, you can only adjust the temperature in the room, not if you want it on or off. If you want it switched off you have to ask reception to turn it off?! Ours was of a level where we wouldn't be able to sleep, to put this into context it was quieter in the corridor than the room. I can only assume they refurbished everything in the hotel, apart from this part! Otherwise a nice hotel, didn't use the restuarant or breakfast, so can't comment on that.

Whilst the room and hotel itself are lovely, the location is great. We were very disappointed with the noise levels and how it was handled by the hotel. There was a party in the bar area with a DJ, it was so loud it shook the room until midnight when it stopped (we were first floor). We asked reception twice about the noise and asked if we could move rooms to a higher floor and no one came back to us. IN the end we just went out on night two, until after midnight so we didn't have to hear it. My watch even said 'noise alert' it was so loud.
