The room we got had a strange configuration. 25%of the rectangular room was cut off by the angled window. You had to climb over the bed to get to the other side. This made for an extremely small room, more like a ships cabin

The blind had some tears in it and the wall was messy looking. It was as if someone had painted the wall using different shades of paint.

The room was quite small. Bathroom and bath were nice.

I have stayed in Travelodge previously in London and the beds and rooms are bigger and more comfortable for a quarter of the price.

Staff lied about room size saying we were in standard when we were in small but had booked standard and were condescending when talking to us, no blackout blinds and work area/desk as detailed in description. Shower was broken they fixed it and it broke again. Decaff coffee not refilled in room when used. Shower was broken. Noisy pub next door and staff allowed smokers to stand on terrace at entrance meaning the whole if reception stunk of stale smoke every time we walked in. Avoid at all costs

Good but don't expect what you get outside London

The staff were really great, helpful and considerate. The shower head was great and the room was clean. But there were some issues:
1) The restaurant was closed, we weren't told about this in advance or at check in only when we asked about eating there. They still had posters advertising the menu.
2)The room sizes are disproportionate to other Mercures. A superior King room in Bristol is double the size that the one in London.
3)There is clear signs of wear in the rooms. The paint was chipped, especially on the bathroom door where you can see it pealing. The shower curtain had black mould starting. The lift broke down briefly. The mattress was two pushed together.
4)casting to the TV doesnt work as the signal connection doesnt have internet.

Pretty good mid range London hotel

Well positioned hotel surrounded by restaurants and tourist areas. Rooms are small as most London. Staff is a team and all good. Hotel is going to be modified to better integrate reception and restaurant- very much needed. Reasonable value in very expensive city.

I stayed as my dad was in one of the nearby hospitals. For this it was an excellent location.
I had a single room on the 7th floor which was definitely compact and bijou! It was clean, very comfortable, shower was good, nice big towels. TV and the usual kettle options.
Extra pillow which I did use.
Window which opened (with a safety latch).
Whilst the cost was high (I wouldn't pay £140 for 1 night in a single bed in many places) for this location at this time of year this was a bargain.
Staff were exceptional and clearly have all had their customer service training. Every single staff member was kind, courteous and most importantly helpful. I got a slightly later check out, left my bag while I was at the hospital, asked for info about the bathroom after I collected my bags and a few other bits. Manager should be very pleased with their team :)
Thanks, considering I was there for crappy reasons and I stayed in a few different local hotels, this was by far the best.

There isn't a ramp to enter this hotel, so it was extremely difficult to lift a stroller up all the stairs.

Ok for the price

We stayed for one night, mid week, for a theatre trip. Our twin room was small, and in need of updating: cluttered with too much furniture which was not in good condition, and the carpet needed replacing. But the heating worked, the shower was good, and the beds were comfy, which is what we needed for our short stay. The hotel is well located for getting around and was probably decent value for central London for the price we paid.

Reception were particularly unfriendly, it definitely didn’t feel like a warm welcome. Then when entering the room we found that our bed was a 3/4 bed / small double so only 122cm wide! After booking standard double and finding that we’d been given a much smaller bed for two adults, we were extremely disappointed. If you look on their own website they sell small double rooms at a cheaper rate, so definitely felt shafted. We’re one wide and one tall person so it was a very uncomfortable night. The room was tiny, which we’ve had in London before but some of the furniture was made for the room and some appeared to be plonked in there and there wasn’t enough space to manoeuvre around the bed without bumping into something. Felt more like 3 star.

The location is brilliant for walking to Covent Garden, SoHo and surrounding areas.
The staff were very friendly, courteous and professional. My issue was the room. I travelled with a friend to have a fun few days in London and booked a twin room. The room was a tiny accessible room. I’m not convinced it would have suited a wheelchair user. The bathroom was beyond dated. The shower head hung off the wall, all the sealant needed replacing as it was mouldy in the shower and around the sink. The beds were ok but the room was boiling hot. The wardrobe was behind the door so we couldn’t open the wardrobe door properly because of the A hinge on the room door. (For those that have ever watched Room 101) Ironically the room was 101 which we did see the funny side as I would definitely put that room in 101! It needed a complete overhaul.

It is central and easy walk to both Holborn and Russell Square underground. But not worth the almost £500 for 2 nights.

Good stay. Hotel was very well located for what we needed. Just 5 mins from the tube and an easy walk to covent garden, west end etc.
The bed was very small though, defintely did not feel like a full size double bed. We also appeared to only have one bath towel for the 2 of us, though we found another one hidden in a drawer but this was after we'd already showered.
The hotel did feel a little tired/dated for the price, but overall it served the prupose we needed for one night in the capital.

Unfortunately, the electricity and water was not available at checking in due to hotel issues. This was fixed by the time I got back to the hotel late that night.

I booked for a king size bed but given 2 singles. Again, this was resolved by the time I returned to the hotel late that night. Issue I had was calling the reception which took about 30 mins albeit they are open 24/7, I just kept getting voicemails.

Reception was slow too. Clearly in answering calls, but also in dealing with customers. On the plus side, they are courteous and polite.

As for the room, I returned to the hotel to find that there were skid marks in my toilet when I hadn’t used it the whole day, having been out. The water was also turned on in the sink. Unfortunately I did not find out till the next morning so I had not bothered to complain to management.

The room is also small and not modern. Bearing in mind it is a 4 star hotel, I think Novotel with similar ranking is a lot better. Double tree Hilton which is just a few doors down may also be a better option.

I won’t be returning. The toilet was a big no no for me.

This was a really lovely hotel. The staff were extremely nice. Check-in was super easy and quick. The room was nice, tho small compared to other rooms we've stayed in - not a problem for us tho. Its super close to the underground so getting around is very easy.

The park nearby is lovely and has a wonderful cafe that serves delicious breakfast. The hotel is very quiet.

This was the first time I had stayed at the Mercure. Check in was easy, the lift to the floor my room was on had a menu for the bar, however when I went down, I was informed they didn’t do any food, which was disappointing.
The next evening I decided to have a drink in the bar. The member of staff had obviously had very little or no training in bar duties. It took him 20mins to serve three drinks, when he got to me and took my order, he began to look in the fridges for red wine. Although there were bottles on a shelf behind the bar. He phoned someone for help, found the bottle but it was near empty. On telling me they had run out of red wine, I decided to cut my losses and go to my room. I would never blame the staff member as he obviously was out of his depth and should have had more support.
Oh, pillows are all soft, which is a minor complaint however, important.

Bitten by bugs during sleep - avoid!!!

I was bitten twice by something whilst sleeping at the Mercure hotel. My colleague found an insect of some form burrowing into the mattress in her room. The mattresses and pillows are not clean under the sheets at all.
I would never stay here again and have used indorex on everything in my case on returning home to prevent spread of bedbugs.

The twin room was small and did not seem like a 4 star hotel room . The furnishings and desk, wardrobe were dated and dark . The bathroom was better except for the shower screen not being wide enough and so soaked part of the floor and no additional hand shower . Radiator
had rust on and the windows did not close
properly so let in cold air and noise . No mini fridge . Did have ironing board and iron & hairdryer
