We were fortunate to be able to find a room when arriving a day earlier than planned. The property is lovely outdoors, very friendly staff in the restaurant.
They were shocked for a last minute booking so it was a slower check in.
We didn’t arrive on the best day, a strike for hotel employees was creating havoc. We didn’t have great meal experiences. Paper plates, plastic cutlery and no wine available.
The room was very tired with minimal amenities, uncomfortable bed and pillows.
The pool was closed at 6.

This is a lovely hotel in a very nice place. The only downside is the large number of steps to access the beach and boardwalk- it may not suit senior citizens, it was a bit of a struggle for my eighty year old father. We bought some really nice local wine, but the hotel would not let us drink it anywhere except our room, even when we offered to pay a corkage fee.

Lovely place and the beach club shared with the Riu Palace was nice. My gripes were that I’d booked on the strength of gym reviews - the gym is pretty poor in terms of equipment and had lots of machines out of order; I also think it is pretty shocking to charge for rental of the safe in the room.

Good service and facilities with great location

The hotel is in a great location, a short distance from El Duque Sur and only a 20 minute walk to La Caleta. It is spotlessly clean with very service and facilities. We stayed half board and whilst the breakfast offered a great choice and catered for all tastes, the buffet-style evening meal was very disappointing, as was the meal in the Spanish restaurant. If it was available, we would choose to stay bed and breakfast. All-in-all, a very good hotel that we have re-booked for next year.

Needs a refurbish!

Hotel is dated, rooms are old, paint on walls is chipped. Lobby staff was quite dismissive at times. I would not stay at this hotel again as the area has other far better choices for similar price. Lobby staff were cold and unbothered...some might say rude.

Pretty good.
Cons: No tea/coffee facilities in room - bring own kettle. No food served in either pool bar. Bathroom towels v thin (pool towels fab - we used those). Rooms a bit small and tired (but bathrooms modern and nice).
Pros: Nice, helpful staff. Food and choices good. Nice location - short walk to La Caleta and El Duque.

Hotel very good and staff courteous and helpful. Choice of food excellent. Drinks expensive. Bedroom could have done with a tea/coffee machine. Don't belive the Hotels. com website when they tell you that you have a part sea view, what I had was a road view. The 68 steps to get to the beach was tough going after a few days especially getting back up. Poolside beds were being booked from 7am despite the hotel being adults only.

right in front of the beach (3min walk), huge two swimming pools, convenience store at the entrance of the hotel, bus stop in front of the hotel, parking available, rent a car available in the hotel, gym and spa were great. We will come back.

Nette en ruime kamers, personeel heel vriendelijk. Eten in het algemeen goed. We vonden het juist spijtig dat er stond dat het restaurant aangepaste kledij wenst terwijl er zoveel mensen in slippers en tanktops waren, ook bij het avondeten...dat vonden wij niet kunnen.
De infinitypool en beachplaats vonden wij superleuk.
Het is een hotel dat we in het algemeen wel zouden aanraden

The adjacent construction diminished the appeal of the property but moreover the staff's rude handing of the issue really gave us a negative experience.

In general with some exceptions, the staff were rude and disrespectful. We will to return to the property. We have stayed at several other Riu Properties and this was not our experience

The food was average. The water for Tenerife is reportedly non-potable and the hotel charges for clean water. We found that to be appalling.

There is on-going construction on an aqueduct adjacent to the hotel, so my 0800 wake up call was heavy machine punching through concrete. The hotel's response when I approached them on the matter was \"It is on our website.\" They did move us to a better room but Tenerife is just so amazing I would not waste my time here again ever. The food was average at best as well.

The European Expedia gave the facility poor reviews as well. I wish I had known that before booking.

Horrible - out of all the options, avoid this

Shampoo is in packets like some cheap motel
Horrible reception staff - VERY RUDE and suspicious. Awful to work with.
Bad procedures - they demanded that I provide proof of stay when that is taken care of by this SITE. We were exhausted and I didn't want to deal with all of the desk people's nonsense, which they piled on.
House staff very nice, lucky that.
Average rooms- nothing special at all. Definitely not worth the rates.
Twin beds put together in the room. Awful for sleeping as a couple.
View of room was to parking lot and a dried out stream.
The hotel were constantly checking on people, suspicious, terrible hospitality. As if they have been burnt many times over and were passing on that bad attitude to us, the clients.
Absolutely a cheap, average tourist's persons stay in Tenerife
The hotel was full of nasty, bad appearing, people.

The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely furnished. There is a large bathroom with a good shower. Negative is that shower gel and shampoo are sachets which are dealt out daily and not enough for two showers a day which most people have after sunbathing and swimming. Food is buffet style and on the whole very good. The Spanish restaurant is very good and we had a nice evening dining there. Staff are v helpful and very much in evidence. Pools are spotless and loungers v clean and in good condition. Evening entertainment was good and the drinks are very generous measures!!

Very quiet hotel.

Pleasant hotel, exceptional staff. Location is by the sea with a lovely promenade for long walks. There are quite a few steps though to get to the promenade 70plus. Although you can avoid the steps but its a long way around. Lovely pool area but very quiet, No poolside snacks, you have to go to the restaurant for lunch which is a shame. Evening food was good but got a bit bored after a week. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. This was our first time in Tenerife and would definately stay at this hotel again. There are lovely views to the front of the hotel of the mountains and pool/seaview rooms to the rear. There is live music in the evenings and that was okay, but went out for walk/drink most evenings, although the prices for drinks in the hotel were very good. Only one issue.... Men have to wear long trousers to dinner!! Which is silly as I saw many women in very casual clothes for dinner including short skirts and one young lady had very short, denim shorts and her partner had knee length very smart shorts and he was turned away and asked to change.So wrong.

Good size room Very clean On third floor view limited. Bathroom towels small and thin but ask maid for extra towels was no problem. Beds comfortable only 1 pillow but asking for extra is not a problem either. Ladies take a hair dryer if you have long hair and hair products. The shampoo and sachets of shower were very basic quality.

We visit Tenerife regularly and this hotel is excellent. Nothing is too much for the friendly but proffesional staff. The rooms are spacious and modern and kept immaculately clean. The food is fresh and well cooked with plenty of variety. No need for the mad dash for sun beds by either of the three pools. The location is not for people liking wild bars but is a lovely stroll to the village of La Calletta or in the opposite direction to Adeje and beyond. The local bus stops outside if you do not want to hire a car. We will definatley be returning.

A wonderful stay

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at this hotel. We rented a car from Tenerife airport and did have problems finding the hotel. However once found were very impressed with the outside appearance. This continued on entering the bright spacious lobby area. Check in was quick and we were able to go straight to our room 3 hours earlier than the stated check in time of 3pm.
Our room had a side sea view with a spacious balcony and was clean and modern.
There are 3 pools again these and the surrounding areas are kept immaculately clean. No problems getting sun beds at anytime and the main pools have sun beds in the pool, very welcome when it gets too hot.
The infinity pool, although set away from the main hotel was peaceful and had a glorious view over the sea. Security is good with access into and out of the hotel grounds via glass doors using your room card.
The location is perfect, set away from the main town but within a 15 minute walk along the beach promenade. There are bars and a few shops en route.
All stays at the hotel appear to be on a half board basis. Tea, coffee, water and a selection of juices are readily available at breakfast,drinks in the evening are paid for but are reasonably priced. Food was buffet style with a varied selection.

Beautiful hotel,with great staff in a good locatio

From check in to check out we had a great experience at this hotel. Staff were very good in all,departments. This is an adult only hotel with 2 beautiful pools,on site, with fabulous mosaic beds at the side of the pools. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The hotel is so,clean and so modern, large bathrooms and the hotel is so clean. The only negative I would have is the amount of steps to get down on to the main prom area. It is very near to the beach. From check in to check out we had a great holiday at the Riu. Whe we checked in we had a room on the ground floor we did ask would we be able to get one at a higher floor and 3 days later we were given 4035 with lovely views. Check out time is 11am and the hotel has shower rooms near reception for use after check out. Great holiday would highly recommend.

Georgeous hotel and close to the beach

We went 6 days and was really nice to stay in the hotel. Is 5 min walking close to the beach. Has 3 pools, one of them in front of the beach with a awesome views.
All staff in the hotel was really nice and helpfull. Customer service amazing!
Food really good. All days something diferent and they have s special restaurant inside \"Olé\" that is all spanish food.
If I have to say something wrong, just the shapoo in the badroom that is not really confortable the receipt and sometimes in the diner time is quiet dificult to find a place in the parking.
In general the hotel is amazing bthe quality of the hotel is higher than a other 4 stars hotel.
Really happy with the time there. We will back xx

High quality Hotel

We were really impressed with this hotel, the staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. There were always sunbeds available and the atmosphere is very relaxed and chilled - felt more like a retreat! A short walk to the private Beach club accessible to hotel guests with infinity pool and bar was a nice change from poolside. The buffet choice was excellent and the adjacent Spanish restaurant is definitely worth trying out. The evening entertainment wasn't great and we often went to the Altamira cocktail / shisha bar down on the beach. The main town was about 15mins walk round the coast, we didn't find many great bars open and ended up in an english bar. Would recommend getting taxi back which was about 5-7 euros. We went on the half day Mount Teide trip which was interesting but unfortunately the cable car wasn't working due to windy conditions so was a bit disappointed.

Riu Arecas Costa Adeje Tenerife SUPERB!

Fantastic hotel with superb facilities and excellent dining. Food fantastic one of the best restaurants I've experienced, lots of choice of very well prepared food, never dissapointed.

Excellent staff, they couldn't do enough for you to make your holiday that extra bit special.

Two main pools in front of the hotel are large and in a tranqil setting. The hotel is very colonial looking and very modern in styling having recently been refurbished to a high standard. It has a large outside veranda area with great seating to ralax and enjoy the view of the complex. There is another pool down on the beach front with an infinity pool and bar set in a sand covered area which gives the impression of being on the beach itself.

The hotel is adults only which was what we were looking for and made for a very relaxing time with all age ranges represented making for a good mix of people and nationalities.

I would personally rate the hotel and complex as a 5 star and would recommend to friends and family.

We will definately be returning in the near futurel

Amazing 4 star hotel in Costa Adeje

This hotel was so much better than I was expecting. The room was extremely spacious and modern with plenty of hanging space and drawer space. Good sized balcony (glass fronted). The pools were fabulous with tiled loungers in the pools - a real treat! Ample 'normal' sun loungers and free towels available. The hotel also had a 'beach resort' with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Totally incredible!!
All the staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Would definitely return to this hotel.

Clean, modern hotel in a quieter part of Costa Ade

We stayed at this hotel as a couple. We were able to check into our room from 12 PM although check in on the website said 3 PM - so that was a great start! In addition, we were greeted with 2 fancy glasses of orange juice, which added to the experience.

The room was perfect - clean, modern, with ample facilities, gorgeous big shower and an outward facing balcony overlooking a road (which was not noisy or overly busy, so did not bother us at all) and Tiggy's Bar was across the road so we enjoyed their entertainment from the comfort of our balcony most nights!

There is a wide variety of food on the half board option. The dining room is big enough so that you never have to wait for a table and the waiting staff are efficient and friendly. By the last night our waiter knew our drinks order without even asking - I was impressed with this attention to detail.

The pool areas looked clean with plenty of sunbeds - but I can't say we used this area, as it was pretty quiet and we were more satisfied with the beach where there was more going on.

Exceptionally well managed adults only hotel

This was our second holiday at Riu Arecas in 8 months. It didn't disappoint. The hotel is exceptionally well managed and maintained. The staff are, without exception, friendly and efficient. With two 25 metre pools and a simulated beach area (with smaller infinity pool) adjoining the sister Riu Palace Hotel, there is never a problem finding sunbeds. Food quality is excellent, and buffet dinners are characterised by wide choice and freshly prepared dishes. The much smaller Ole Restaurant provides a combination of buffet and waiter service, and is also worth one or two visits per week. The absence of children and any form of organised pool sports makes for a very tranquil and relaxing environment.

Great hotel in a great area

We stayed at Arecas in mid April. The hotel had recently been refurbished to a high standard. The new initiative of the Spanish Resturant was superb. The food in the buffet resturant was extensive, varied and of a high quality.
The hotel is on the edge of the Costa adeje resort but well placed for its wonderfull promenade, shops, bars and resturants.
It's also very close to Tiggy's Bar, a great little bar with live music every night - The Eagles tribute night a particular favourite.

Buffet foid excellent. Excellent for a four star hotel. As it is adults only the clientele is older. Spotlessly clean in all areas. Staff friendly and food excellent.
My only criticism is they charge for the safe in the room. This should be free of charge.

Very good hotel

This is our third visit to Riu Areces and are very impressed with the upgrade. The hotel staff remain professional and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The rooms and housekeeping are up to their usual high standard. However what has impressed us the most is the upgrading of the outside area. The swimming pools were warm and very inviting. We used the pool and area nearest to the beach which was fabulous. We had our meals outside on each occasion and appreciated the non smoking areas. We would recommend Rui Areces to anyone.

Having been to this hotel many times I once again enjoyed my stay .I love the peace and quite it gives as well as being close to bars and restruants ,The hotel has just been refurbished and has changed a few things including the dining room set up but it still managed to feel like a nice place to eat.The Bar area seemed huge in comparison to the previous one ,but all together I would say you will enjoy a stay here .

What a lovely hotel. Only 15 minute taxi ride to the airport and a few minutes walk to the beach. Rooms are lovely. Staff were friendly and really made us feel at home.
The hotel was refurbished summer 2015, and you can see they have really invested heavily, with the introduction of a new infinity pool and bathing area near to the beach. It's a short walk, but definitely worth it!
And to top it all off its adults only, which is perfect for couples who want to relax.

Excellent Costa Adeje Hotel

This was our third holiday in Costa Adeje, and our second in a Riu hotel, having stayed at the Riu Palace last year.
We went with some trepidation, as the hotel refurbishment was scheduled for completion three weeks before our arrival on 10 November. Any fears were immediately banished. The hotel was excellent - extremely well managed, with friendly, helpful staff; high quality food with wide choice available, and very reasonably priced, good quality wine.
A bonus for us was the fact that the beach area, which originally was part of the Riu Palace Hotel, was now solely available for Arecas guests. It's a lovely, tranquil amenity, well landscaped, and down by the Costa Adeje esplanade.

Not the same as described on expedia

No facilities listed on website...no bookshop. No use of partner hotel....noise from work going on to update hotel across the road. Noise from bar at night.

Very pleasant. Staff were lovely.

Shuttle from airport took 90 minutes coming and two hours on return for a twenty minute journey as there were too many pick ups/drop offs. Food was adequate, good selection but meat was often over cooked.
Despite this, staff were very helpful and friendly.

Only downside was the slight noise from renovations to Rui Palace next door which also meant the spa and gym were closed too. In house entertainment was a bit boring but other entertainers were good and there are also lots of gigs locally that guests can go to. Overall a really nice experience.

When wee arrived wee were put into a room overlooking a building site on adjoining hotel. i informed reception that i was not happy.They said they look into it next day.wee were awakened at 7 o c by drilling and loud building noise.when i informed resp.they said wee were informed about the building work.Which wee were not.They also said they had no other room available.wee were changed on 3rd. day.The noise went on everyday from 7 in the morning until 8 at night,It was not what a good holiday Wee should have been informed about The building work wee would have chose a different hotel. Very disapointed with EXPEDIA R REDMOND

Very good hotel. The staff were very welcoming. Everything was well organised but did not feel intrusive. Clean and very well maintained. The dining room felt a little more personal than in most hotels. We had a really lovely holiday with everything taken care of

Very good hotel near the beach.

Stayed in this hotel a number of times and it has always been a superb experience as it is a lovely hotel in all respects. The only problem this time is that the Riu Group are completely renervating the adjacent Riu Palace Hotel which caused considerable noise during the day. This work will finish in the summer when the Riu Arecas will go through the same extensive process and will no doubt cause disturbance to the Palace Hotel until the work is finished in October 2015.

We were in Tenerife from the 17till the 24 April. Staff were amazing from the bar staff victor and all the other bar staff very helpful and friendly, the main reception Ivon and his colleges all friendly to our lovely cleaner would go back to same hotel . Marion and Gerald hicks

Excellent standards throughout. Although the food was good and plentiful I did not think it was varied or tasty enough for a hotel boasting these standards. Disappointing, water was NOT included at the evening meal. I would happily stay there again but only as B+B.

Welcoming staff very eager to accommodate .had room 4033 was quite sun in morning .food plentiful choice breakfast excellent . Didnt like the beds in the pool area so close together and the normal thing Germans laying their towels on beds and then disappearing for several hours. Bus stop outside hotel for travel to Los cristianos .airport half an hour away

Expensive but very good.

This hotel is situated In a quiet area about 45 minutes walk to the centre of Playa las Americas.
It costs about 11 euros by taxi. However the local bus stops outside the hotel and costs
1 euro 25, There is no comlimentary bus from the hotel.
The hotel is expensive but quiet and secure.
The staff apart for one in the dinning room are well mannered and friendly.
The head Waiter couldn't be more helpful or efficient .
The food at both breakfast and dinner was superb .Best I have experienced in over 40 years of travel.
If you can afford it you will not be disappointed.

Hotel was looking a bit tired, but we understand renovation is to be taking place in the next couple of months. We viewed an example of the new rooms and it was vey modern and looked really good. Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Our only complaint was the entertainment in the evenings . We found it very amateurish. and expected better.

Lovely 4 night stay. A civilised distance from the livelier areas but close enough to walk.

The staff were consistently pleasant and helpful and there was a good selection of food (even for vegetarians)!

Yes the decor is a bit dated but it was beautifully clean and well managed. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Impressive looking hotel

The Riu Arecas is a lovely hotel. It s a little out of town so if u are looking for night life you will need to get a bus which is just outside hotel .pool area lovely no problems getting lounger .pool towels provided .rooms cleaned to high standard although furniture and tv a little dated .food is excellent plenty of choice .evening entertainment not great but head barman Victor a great laugh who makes up for it .all staff very friendly .can't fault hotel for the price .
