Staff was excellent and nothing was too much trouble, the only thing I would say is if you are looking for a quite hotel then go no further but like us if you want bars and restaurants that are open after 11pm then unfortunately nothing is really around this location without walking at least 20 minutes but really great hotel

From the moment we walked in to the grand entrance the tram at The Grand Tacande were there to help and ensure everyone had the best experience. Loved our 4 night stay. Wonderful breakfast buffet with so much choice - options to have a table outside or inside, also dined in one evening - very good value. Pool lovely, plenty of beds and nice bar areas. Enjoyed the Sound bath session. Perfect spot just a short walk to the beach

Gran Tacande exceeded our expectation in every way. Great location. Amazing food, not like usual buffets, really good quality. Excellent spa. Outstandimg service. Variety of pools. Very green. Surroundings and walks are great too. Top choice for Tenerife.

Really enjoyed my stay the room was absolutely perfect so much room it was great. The staff were really friendly and polite, also the spa was absolutely amazing the best if been to nice wee gym aswell the pools outside were amazing especially the jacuzzi one I couldn’t get out of it I loved it and a good decent buffet breakfast with friendly staff can’t complain only thing I wanted a late check out but couldn’t get it as my flight was until late but they gave me a room so I could clean up. Definitely be returning soon.

A wonderful stay in a brilliant hotel

Our family enjoyed a week long stay in a Gold Swim up Room and had an absolutely wonderful time.

The staff were brilliant - especially with our children - the food was delicious, the room was perfect and the location of the hotel was wonderful - feeling secluded while it was a stones throw from the beach with good access to the local town.

I’d recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a getaway in Tenerife!

Unlike the hotels in the area, the Gran Tacande seems to have more open space around the pool area, not shaded by palm trees like the other properties. Easy access to the shopping and dining. Different sections of the hotel are built in slightly different \"colonial\" style. Giving it less the \"large corporate hotel\" feel. More like staying at a private VIP town square.

Great location and room - but style over substance

The rooms, location (near beach) and pool area are very good and worthy of 9/10. The rest of the hotel, some reception staff, and overall experience as a result is more 7. Poor at check in and out, old policies around dinner dress codes and staff just not lined up or aware of things... having stayed at another 5 star before, this get like a let down. Food is good if not a bit repetitive... .

Friendly staff and attentive cleaners help elevate a rather tired-feeling 5 star with some communal areas in need of repair and TLC and many sunbeds with wheels hanging off.
The open-plan room (presumably done to help the sense of space) leaves little privacy while in the bath or at the wash basin or on the toilet.

We've stayed here a few times and loved/love it. However, what on earth were they thinking when they removed all the bathrooms to put the baths and basins in the room and just have a slim frosted glass door to the shower and, even worse, the toilet?! The door didn't even reach the ceiling... No privacy or smell exclusion!!
Sorry Gran Tacande, we love everything else about it and the staff especially were excellent, but our group of friends won't be staying there again....

Great location, lovely staff and good facilities. We stayed whilst some renovations were completed on our apartment and went to the excellent spa, joined in fabulous classes with Andrea, enjoyed the rooftop bar and relaxed completely. We would consider returning for a short break in the future.

Excellent hotel particularly the staff who are fantastic, so helpful. The room was large and well equipped, water was provided to the room everyday. There was a good choice at both breakfast and dinner. My only small complaint is that there is no heating in the room, the nights were sometimes a bit chilly apart from that had a lovely relaxing stay.

Obligatory renovation work going on so difficult to find a spot that wasn’t interrupted by drills and hammers. Breakfast is never going to be improved with Muzak or a live harp player. No in room coffee facilities or decent coffee served at breakfast . Flies were a constant annoyance

Relax we certainly did.

The hotel itself is brilliant and the bar staff, waiting staff, cleaners and technicians were all very efficient and exceptional helpful and very friendly. I have an issue with the reception staff where on the face of it are friendly and receptive enough, however we had a problem with our air conditioning, it took two days for someone to come and look at it. I put this down to the reception staff not contacting technicians to sort the problem out when I first asked for it to be corrected. The problem eventually got sorted but you don't go to a 5 star hotel and expect that sort of inefficiency.

The much commented on building works were not an issue and we were aware of them before we arrived.

The breakfasts were excellent with attentive waiting staff that helped out where needed. The cleaning staff were friendly but the rooms did not appear to cleaned as thoroughly as other hotels we have stayed in, marks remained on mirrors and TV screens that should be been cleaned as an example.

The prices for drinks in this hotel are excellent for the standard of hotel and the bar staff are very good and a special mention for Cesar who's work was top notch and he seems to get to know his customers.

Would I go back? yes, does it need a bit of improvement yes, there is a lot of competition out there and on the reception they fall short in my opinion.

I have been to this hotel on 3 x previous occasion s, shame I went 4.i was informed by an email 7 days prior to my arrival there was some work being done on the hotel and there may be moments of audible disturbance.on arrival we discovered a whole block of rooms was blocked off, this was not to much of a problem.however we also found that the whole of the main pool and terrace area was dug up and was a mass of excavators pneumatic drills stihl saws, this produced momentary audible disturbance from 0800 until 1800 along with this was a dust cloud which produced a nice scum ring in the remaining small pool.the hotel had kindly put up a tarpaulin with a nice seascape painted on it as the real thing could not be seen.
Ironically we had gone to the hotel to get away from building work a home.
we spent most days out of the hotel, this holiday was a complete waste of money and the email re the work was a complete misrepresentation of the actual state of the hotel.
I noted on our recent visits to the tacande, the ethical 5 star hotels nearby had closed down for their refurbishments rather than try and con guests to keep income coming in.
Work at the tacande is scheduled to carry on until at least october, I would advise anyone considering this hotel to avoid it until then and the hotel have confirmed all works finished
on a positive note the staff were excellent as always and food was very good.

Lovely 4* Hotel, Small Changes Could Make It 5*

Overall, a nice 4 star hotel but it is not 5 star. Positives first - staff. They were without exception, brilliant. Attentive, polite, impeccably mannered. We only ate the breakfast buffet but it was also very good. Live music out on the terrance bar was great, really talented musicians. Location was nice, a 5 minute walk down the promenade walk to plenty of restaurants and bars. The overall layout of the hotel is ok, although the hotel does look as though different bits have just been added on over the years in different styles and there are plenty of steps to negotiate. Pools - only one is heated, this is salt water and although fine, got busy as the other was not heated. The green scum all the way around the main pools was not what you expect of 5 stars, pool staff seemed to just say it was normal wear and tear. You had to set up your own pool beds, again not 5 star service (the beds incidentally were plastic loungers, 5 stars should mean better quality furniture) and if you hadn't reserved a bed before 10am against pool rules, you would not get beds! We were upgraded to a suite unbeknown to us which was lovely, spacious and a fantastic balcony. Bathroom was nice, although spa tub didn't work for 2 of our 6 nights. The room smelled musty as if not used for years, and the bedding all smelled rather unpleasant even after changed. The bed was massive but very uncomfortable and noisy each time we moved. We'd go back, but as a 4 star hotel priced accordingly.

Good Hotel could improve...

If you are arriving by car then suggest you let the porter garage your car on arrival (you will need a key card). Initial welcome and explanation very good and the rooms are spacious and have good amenities (except thin towels). Cleaning of the room (particularly the bathroom) could be improved but otherwise no complaints. Don't look for an à la carte restaurant as there isn't one, having said that the buffet was very good however the dining room lacks atmosphere. The staff are very pleasant and courteous.

Nice hotel with lovely staff but not for me.

We paid a lot of money for a full sea view and were shown to a lovely refurbished room with a side sea view. The only room with a full sea view was not refurbished and was not half as nice so I was very disappointed but my husband was desperate for a sea view. The hotel itself is very big and for me was too impersonal. We were full board and after 10 days, we found the food, especially the desserts, a bit momentous. The meat was very hit and miss as well which was a shame. The hotel on the whole though is very clean and the pool area is lovely with plenty of sun beds. The entertainment was not too our liking. The day before we left we had to ask for our room to be cleaned which made us think they were no longer interested in us as we were about to leave. The hotel was very expensive and we will not be returning.

We stayed at the Gran Tacande from the second half of our honeymoon. The breakfast buffet and the wait staff were both amazing, and the pools and beach access were very nice for a relaxing time. The rooms were nice but a bit outdated, with no coffee machines. We did enjoy the spa and the unique thermal circuit too. I would have given a higher rating, but on our last day, my husband got food poisoning from a burger by the pool. We spent the last night of our honeymoon with him worshiping the porcelain gods. We immediately called the front desk so that they could check the meat and avoid others getting sick. They apologized but did nothing else. The next morning I mentioned this again, and all they did was take the burger off of our bill. Extremely disappointing for something that we could report to the food safety board.

Dream Hotel!!!

Short break with my daughter so we wanted a luxury hotel to chill and relax but still have the beach and restraunts close by if we wanted to venture out. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left this hotel was amazing. It had everything!! Location was superb, Spa was wonderful and the staff could not have been any more warm, friendly and helpful. We had a great time, it was just over far too quickly.

Excellent service, accomodation and food. All staff were very approachable and professional with very good English. Hotel is well located, spacious and facilities are superb. The rooms are very well appointed and very clean. The swimming pools were large and scrupulously clean. The car park is free with plenty of space and easily accessible. The food is great quality, especially the excellent breakfast. This is a high quality hotel but the atmosphere is warm and friendly and you feel at home straight away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will return.

Ideal for couples and right next to the beach

immaculate hotel with fantastic breakfast and views. a step away from the beach and a very relaxed and sophisticated environment. Would have appreciated tea and coffee making facilities in the room, for the rating it was expected, they can be provided by at a €12 charge, bit disappointing. The suite was excellent with a huge bathroom and Jacuzzi bath with separate jet shower. lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. Staff excellent.

The reception at the hotel was the best ever!

We were warmly welcomed by the staff at the hotel and received cold champagne on arrival and was then escorted to the room. We loved the room although both felt the pillows were so uncomfortable and was there more as a fashion item vs comfort. The room and showers were immaculate condition and the range of swimming pools and hot tubs fantastic. Only problem trying to obtain sun lounger we struggled the first day and ended up being lucky. The next day we had no choice but to join in and place our towels before breakfast. It was so rude of people leaving their towels on key sun loungers and not turning up in some cases the whole day, with other guests trying to find places to lie down. If no one is there within an hour take their towels off! The breakfast and staff were outstanding and the manageress keeps every one on their toes. It was massive range and the chefs cook it fresh or you can use the buffet. Entertainment in the evening was good with a great singer.

Great family holiday along with a spa for the wife

The hotel is in a great position and has a lot of great points. The beach is 30 meters away, a delux shopping centre the same along with some great eating houses.
We visit this area all the time but this was our first stay in this hotel.
The wifi was free and even worked around the pools and in the rooms. The breakfast was lively and all the staff were fantastic.
My only negative was the salt water pools for the kids. One would be ok but not the 2. That's minor and some people would love it but my kids didn't.
I would highly recommend.

Great hotel.

This was a fabulous hotel for an extended vacation. The hotel is right on one beach and a short, 5 minute walk to another beach. There is a huge line of restaurants, bars, and shops just a 5 minute walk away. It's nice to have some distance from this area as it gets really busy at times. The hotel was incredibly clean and the staff was really friendly. The included breakfast is a HUGE buffet that is 5 star all the way (Las Vegas buffet big).

For those who have never been to Europe before, there are reviews that complain about the beds being uncomfortable or the air conditioning not being super cold. Welcome to Europe. The beds are not as plush as they are in the USA. For king beds they push two twins together. The air conditioning will only work with your key card in a slot by the door. This is all common to every hotel in Europe and it's just the way it is.

4. Really good layout/range of hotel facilities
5. Very attentive and perceptive staff

Minor gripes
1. Spa facilities need some maintenance work
2. Clear posting of rules on not allowing reserving sun beds (there is no need as there are lots) and even gentle warnings given to people, but then the same people allowed to keep doing it day after day in the same spots....
3. Long trousers required for dinner for males - not a problem in itself, but it would be good to know before you go!! :)

Really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely recommend this hotel. Only two potential improvements in my opinion is that they could open the gym earlier than 9am and sparking water should be supplied at breakfast, especially as its a 5 star hotel. Every else was excellent.

Having visited a few of the hotels in the area of Costa Adeje,
this suited us the most because of what seems to be the largest
space by the pool area, without feeling too busy, noisy or crowded.
Great selection at breakfast, which made us full so we skipped
lunch and enjoyed dinner either in the hotel, buffet with plenty of good quality food,
as well as fast and efficient service by all hotel staff.

Will be definitely going back soon.

Brilliant position next to playa del duque beach. Room large and comfortable with good size balcony overlooking sea. Staff v good.

Nice hotel but with annoying faults \n

Location is good, staff friendliness is excellent. Food generally very good but as with many buffets some dishes can be rather 'tired' unless perhaps you choose to eat very early. We had a 'Suite' which was excellent in terms of size, outlook, furnishing etc., BUT, there were a number of relatively annoying aspects which were not readily resolved until I sought assistance from Hotel Management. Overall a good choice of Hotel but \"will I go back\", probably not.

A relaxing stay in a lovely hotel

Lovely hotel in a great position close to the beach, with a lovely coastal promenade if you wanted a stroll past several good restaurants, cafes etc, on your doorstep.

Super friendly and helpful staff.

Breakfasts great choice and very good food quality.

Pool area and beds plentiful, nicely landscaped and tranquil.

We will return :)

Fabulous hotel with brilliant, friendly, helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast buffet were fantastic with plenty of choice. Hotel in prime location right by the beach and plenty of restaurants and bars. Would highly recommend.

A lovely getaway for some winter sun.

A lovely quiet stay (being January). Staff were attentive and the food was lovely. New buffet food every night and a variety of choices to suit all tastes. Problems with the room (needed another pillow; blocked shower drain) were resolved very quickly. We also celebrated my sister's birthday and the hotel arranged cakes for breakfast and dinner; balloons in the room and also complimentary Cava which was a lovely touch.

5-star holiday camp.

To me '5-star hotel' implies, among other things, unobtrusive luxury, a semblance of dignity and restraint, and, where dinner is offered, an exemplary dining experience. Facilities for making tea and coffee, and a well stocked minibar, would be taken for granted, as would a proper double bed and bedclothes that were an appropriate size, rather than single sheets stuffed down the middle of two beds pushed together. None of these things were the case at Gran Tacande. The restaurant was closed. Dinner was a giant buffet where self-service all too often became a game of 'dodge the toddler'. Obtrusive music blared out from every quarter. Jolly 'Blackcoats' leapt out at one from behind every marble column and shouted 'Hola'! It was not a relaxing experience.

LINKED ROOM NO SLEEP!

Lovely hotel, great breakfast. HOWEVER we were in room 311 which is a link room and on the second night we had a family next door with kids running and shouting till late. Could hear every word through the linked door. Rang reception but they didn't ring the room as we would have heard the phone ring it is that clear. Checked out next day wasn't asked how our stay was at reception.

upon arrival no room service menu available. 30 min after checking with front desk, still nothing, so I had to go down. When the guy finally came, he was only giving me the menu but was not able to take the order. 2 days later, there was an issue with my telephone. I called the front desk who promised to send a mechanic - never came. The day before departure I asked for a 45 min extension for my check out. Front desk told me that exactly my room (out of 400 rooms) was needed the next day and I could not stay longer. The front desk staff is very unfriendly and not helpful, at all. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel and I will certainly not be back.

Nice relaxing stay

We were greeted by very pleasant & helpful receptionists and our luggage was taken to our room by another pleasant member of staff. We'd paid extra for a partial sea view room but unfortunately could only see a tiny bit of sea & a lot of the hotel that was being built across the road. We had a word with the receptionist & were re-allocated a room with a better view the next day.

The hotel is in a lovely quiet, classy area with a nice beach to the right. Sunbeds on beach were about €12 per day for 2. We were very impressed at the high level of service and cleanliness, every single member of staff was very pleasant and cheerful. Omar and Moussa the chef were especially lovely.

The extra items in the bathroom were very comprehensive inc. razor, toothbrush & paste, comb etc. The quality & choice of the food was excellent and if you mainly eat fish like me, you will have a different choice each night. We decided to eat at some of the local restaurants on the last 3 nights for a change though. Can recommend Atlantico.

We also went on a yacht trip with Lina Sailing & saw Dolphins, pilot whales and even a turtle. They collect you from your hotel & drop back. We always managed to get a sunbed & liked the middle pool as that was heated. Our only niggle was that there was no iron / ironing board in the room & they don't supply them to borrow either. If you need anything ironing you have to take it to the ironing room. I would recommend Dream Tacande & would stay again.

Great hotel location close to the El Duque beach. Buffet was excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. There was some construction work close to the front of the hotel - we had to change room to avoid construction noise.

Gran tacande, great hotel for couples.

Holiday, very pleased with the hotel. Room, food, pool area all great. Just short of tea and coffee in the room for top marks.
