We had a great time! My daughter accidentally ate pistachio donut that she is allergic to. Her face got swollen up. Luckily I bought Benetryl. Also, Hyatt called a doctor to come by to take make sure my daughter was ok. They even paid for the doctor bill. Overall, I would definitely recommend Hyatt Ziva.

I’ve stayed at Ziva twice before, most recently in 2020, and we were so excited to return. This trip was especially meaningful because my boyfriend, now fiancé, planned his proposal here. He coordinated photography through the concierge in advance, but on the day we arrived, the photographer told him she and the entire team had been let go by new management. The resort never informed him. Had she not personally reached out, the proposal wouldn’t have happened. Thankfully, she went above and beyond to make it special despite the lack of communication.

As Expedia Gold members, we’re eligible for perks like a bottle of wine and a room upgrade if available. At check-in, we were told no upgrade was possible unless we downgraded to a dolphin-view room. The next day, after asking again, we were upgraded to club level after persisting.

I repeatedly asked staff to help make the proposal feel special with something in the room. We were told it would be done on our last full day, but nothing was arranged. At Bastille, we shared we were celebrating our engagement since they asked, yet there was no acknowledgment for us but the couples around us. Other rooms had banners and decorations, which made it more disappointing.

Food quality has declined; many dishes were overly salty, especially the Italian food truck. Bastille, Habaneros, Tradewinds, and room service were the highlights. The beach and security staff were exceptional. Overall, this trip did not meet the standard we once loved.

Stayed last february and now this february. Prices of everything has gone up (cabanas, extended checkout,etc) while we found the service, professionalism and overall food quality deteriorating (and yes i am basing this off a 5* resort, where you pay $1000,usd per night not a memories or riu). Would not stay again given the high prices and lack of food optoons and quality particularly in the buffet at night. The other sit down restaurants were okay or mediocre but nothinf to rave about.

It is a really beautiful resort and the staff, the food and the rooms are great! Beautiful beaches and pools. The only negative thing is that they try to up-charge you constantly: wine, cabanas, food, spa services, dolphins, show, nicer tables, better lounge chairs etc.
When you pay between 700-800 dollars a night, this gets old.

This was our second stay at this hotel. We came with 2 sets of grandparents and young kids (2 and 5) and we all had a great time. The food options are great, service staff are very friendly. Beach is nice and clean and water is fairly calm for swimming. One star off for the pool being cold- wish it was heated more so kids could enjoy it more- they only swam in the covered pool section as that one was warmer.

We have been to this resort many times and love it. While they have great food, clean rooms, and beautiful grounds, the thing that stands out the most is the service. As soon as we got there, Fernando granted us and took us to check in. He is a person and is so very welcoming. Then at the club tower, Emmanuel and the rest of the staff are wonderful. They make you feel part of the family. Then out by the pool, Judith and Carlos helped to make every day great. We’ve been to many resorts and this is by far our favorite!

Room was always spotless. I want to throw out my mattress and buy one of theirs. All the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were great. Our butlers Anna and Omar went the extra mile. Checking in and out were a breeze. Beach is amazing. The ice cream is the best I’ve ever tasted. Fruit was sooo good. I was super upset at the room they gave me. Granted it was ocean front double which is what i booked but the pictures advertised was not how the room i recieved looked. The bathroom sink faucets were leaking the whole time. I called for them to repair it but all they did was tighten the handle which made it uncomfortable to open and close the faucet. The food selection at the buffet was mediocre. Shows were great but some were a bit to provocative for children which this resort was more catered towards. Theres no reason for a male dancer to be dressed as a female. Other then whats was spoken about the place was great.

The food was AMAZING! Better than the restaurants here in my hometown. Room was cleaned up nicely, sometimes even twice a day! Staff were very professional and friendly.
I enjoyed Gustavo’s Pilates and yoga classes and Betty’s facial and massage! Thank you for a great time. We will be back.
Oh, but still be careful with your belongings at the pool though. Someone stole our friend’s AirPods (the trackable one. It ended up at a rural, residential area according to GPS).

Our room overlooked the dolphin pool and a view of the resort pools. The room was nice but needed some minor maintenance. The AC works well if you leave the patio door closed. We had a great time and there was always something to do or eat. The staff was excellent! I want a fan of the aggressiveness the outside vendors pushing good over night were. The wedding meal we had was by far the best meal of the trip. The staff made the night special for my sister.

We had to move rooms twice due to unbearable smell. We moved from an oceanfront regular room to the turqoize tower level 11 room. Paid an additional fee for an upgrade only to have the stay ruined by an overbearing toxic acetone and paint smell from the room down the hall being maintenenced. Due to my asthma we had to move a second time to a room on the second floor. Overalls facility and property is dated especially for the price paid.

- food was truly great. the breakfast was excellent, the almost-always available freshly made tacos were incredible. pool side grill was great. gelato was really phenomenal. churo/ benuela stand was fun! asian restaurant and mexican places were very good. the steakhouse was our least favourite.
-service was great- carlos G (our breakfast waiter) had memorized our particulars by day 2 (who needed coffee, extras etc) and the staff would come round the pool often to bring you what you needed.
-rooms very comfortable
-pools were really good. clean, lots of space, inflatable for the kids.
-beaches were stand out- so much fun for the kids, clean, white sand, and lots of shallow space for snorkelling and wave jumping

cons:

i didn't love the kids club- you had to check your kid in for like each activity and it was really tailored to very very little kids. not much (at the kids club) for our 7-9 year olds (but it was ok as the rest of the resort was awesome)

also, there is no waterpark or lazy river, except some slides that were only accessible through the kids club.

overall, this resort was great!

We stayed at Hyatt Ziva from 12/23–12/27, and I can honestly say it was worth the $4K to spend Christmas there. My daughter absolutely loved the kids club—there were so many activities, and it gave us plenty of time to relax and enjoy quality time together as a couple. The resort grounds were stunning, immaculately clean, and very well maintained.

I would rate the rooms a 6/10. For the price point, there shouldn’t have been visible cracks in the walls, and some of the fixtures felt dated and in need of renovation. One aspect that was difficult for me was the dolphins on property. We chose not to participate in those activities, and I hope the resort considers reevaluating this in the future.

The food options were excellent, especially the seafood night at the buffet it was a standout. Room service, however, was mediocre, and there could be improvement in promptly clearing food trays and debris from the hallways after guests finish their meals.

Lastly, the service was impeccable. The staff truly deserves major praise they went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied throughout our stay. Aside from the room renovations needed, I have no other major complaints, and this is definitely a resort we would return to.

10/10 would stay here again. Everything was so convenient and close by. We stayed at the tourquize adults only side and the room we had was spacious and clean.

Towels were switched twice a day, amazing!! Fridge and snacks stocked every day but do you really need it when all the food and drinks were easily available? Spoiler: yes because those passion fruit gummies were so tasty and a cold cola at 2am was an experience I didn’t know I needed. Marie and Adrian were our butlers and they were helpful and professional. Marie especially helped us quite a bit with random things we needed and had perfect timing.

Lorenzo’s was our favourite restaurant (the fig pizza!!) and the adult only pool was a nice relaxing touch away from the other pools with kids. Also the arrachera steak they had poolside was delicious. Loved the cafe they had, lots of different coffee options. They also have churro and taco carts around the resort. The only critique I have is the desserts in general were not great (except for the pistachio cannoli at Lorenzo’s)

There were a bunch of activities but make sure you figure out which ones need reservations because we weren’t able to attend some. But the one we did attend was fun.

The beach was pretty but it gets really busy and there aren’t a lot of beach chairs, so I suggest getting there early to claim a spot. Overall great stay.

Everyone was so friendly and capable. Service at Hyatt Ziva is excellent. Sofia at the spa is a most excellent asset! The only concern I have is that you not only have 6 captive dolphins but also that they are kept in a shallow 6 foot pool. That is definitely something you need to reconsider. They are sentient animals and need a suitable habitat.
