I could not use the pools because of weather conditions. Unfortunately a cold strong wind stop me to use the pools or the beach.
Staff was very friendly and provide good services.
I suggest the hotel to change the shower head in the bathroom. It was in poor condition.

Great Location, nice view, food overall was good. This resort needs better exterior upkeep but i think they are running as long as possible and trying to get what they can out of it without dumping too much money into aesthetics. Years ago this resort was probably very very beautiful. Dont get me wrong id stay here again for 4 days for the $80 rate i paid bit no more than $100 a day

This hotel is not all inclusive like it says. Also the staff at the entrance are all in your business making unnecessary comments. The restrooms are so small and when you shower, all the water goes out into the room. We told the receptionist and all they said was to put a towel. Very disappointed. Definitely staying at the expensive hotels next time.

The pictures are NOT AT ALL what the room looks like. Our first night there we were put into a room with no running water, bugs everywhere, i was livid and extremely upset being in a foreign country away from home in a room that clearly did not match the pictures. It took 4 hours of me complaining to expedia and to the hotel to get moved to a room with liveable conditions.

They also conveniently lost our reservation stating it was an all inclusive stay so we had to shell out an EXTRA 640 usd to gain access to the food and drinks we already paid for.

The resort has nothing really to do besides drink and eat. You're kind of just shoved in a corner of the hotel zone. If we come back to cancun, we will be looking else where to stay.

Aside from this, i will say the kitchen staff were extremely polite and gracious people. I appreciated their service. Which is why i gave it an extra star.

Overall if you book this place prepare to be disappointed, ive stayed at less than ideal properties before many times. This was the grossest.

The amount we ended up spending on buying the all inclusive option AGAIN. We could have gotten a nicer, more comfortable stay at another resort.

This was my family's first trip to Mexico and we didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and though we were too early for check in they got one of our rooms ready for us immediately and gave us our wrist bands to enjoy the bar while we waited for the other. While the property is old and a tad dated, it was clean and well maintained. The beach is fantastic with lots of loungers and nice sand. The food was great! Each day breakfast, lunch and dinner had different options and there was always something one of the pickier eaters in our group found they really liked. The staff was the highlight of the experience, everyone from roomkeepers, bartenders and even the security guards were friendly and very patient even with my very limited Spanish (most of the staff spoke better english than I do spanish) Guadalupe in particular made our time at the buffet so good. He immediately took to doting on my family each time we arrived for a meal, making sure we had everything we needed, including making sure my tequila never ran dry. At the end of the trip, him and I parted with a handshake and a hug and that alone was enough to make me want to come back to Maya Caribe. Tip the staff, get your expectations in check that this isn't a 5 star resort but an incredibly cozy and authentic feeling gem and you'll have a great time.

This is an older but nice property with a nice beach. The room is a little outdated, but serves its purpose. The staff was friendly. The food is very authentic and offers something for everyone. You will need to drink fast or drink more to get the most out of the alcohol but the bartenders are nice. I would definitely stay again for the property, price and beach.

I stayed in B10. That room is highly neglected and should not be used for housing. The bathrooom sink faucet is delapitated and unhinged and the water leaks. The towels must be over 10 years old. The worst part are the peacocks that are housed right out the front door. They gackle at all hours of the night. I asked the front desk to be moved after one night. I was given room 3003. It was literally like staying at a different hotel. Night and Day.

Our stay was nice. The room was fine but the bathroom could use a facelift, it’s been awhile. The view was wonderful from our room. I do recommend an ocean view room if you can because the breeze is amazing.The beach was nice and there was shade in the afternoon from the buildings and trees. The food was good and of course the drinks were wonderful. The property was clean and the staff were very nice. It was a little noisy at times from the ferry and catamaran trips from the adjoining property but not enough to ruin your day. I would definitely book again as the value was worth it.

Great experience! If you're planning a trip to Cancun and looking for a budget-friendly, all-inclusive hotel with a private beach in the Hotel Zone, this is probably your best choice (at least in our opinion). The staff is excellent, there are plenty of food options, and the property is well-maintained and clean, creating a positive atmosphere throughout our stay. The only thing that might stand out is that the rooms could use an upgrade, but aside from that, everything else about this property is fantastic. I wanted to acknowledge all the staff members we interacted with during our stay. Since I can't remember every name, I don't want to unintentionally overlook anyone, so I’ve chosen not to list any names. However, I truly believe that, aside from the location and views, the staff is the biggest highlight of this property.

We were there for a week in October and found the hotel charming. There are some quirks (air conditioning was not great but was sufficiently ok & some areas need a facet). With that said, what really made it for us was the staff was just so kind and amazing! This resort is not super fancy but it did meet all of our needs. It was quiet and quaint and no extensive lines or waiting. If you want really fancy or a big party atmosphere, this likely is not the place for you. The breakfast buffet was not expansive but met our needs. Though we didn’t eat much lunch, my husband liked the sushi rolls the coupe times he got them. Mexican fiesta night food was delicious. Highly suggest the Dos Playas drink.

Maya Caribe is a Dos Playas Hotel; I don’t know why it’s called as a separate hotel it is basically one building from four. ( 3 named as Dos Playas and one Maya Caribe) one reception and all amenities for both.

Overall it is solid 3 star hotel. So if you choose btw two hotels there is no difference except the price and Maya building has renovated rooms and not renovated.

What I liked is that there are Sushi all day from 12 - 6 pm; pizza and hot dogs/hamburgers and drinks all day.

Lunch and Dinner I would say solid 3.7-4 star.

Good staff which can help with any needs ( just don’t forget tips if you liked the service). We had AC broken so they fixed it quick without any problems or delays.

There are bus station on the left R-1 which can deliver you to the city center just for 12 Mexican pesos (0.5USD)

When you go to the airport you can order Uber right to the hotel for around 30 USD.

Overall it’s good 3 star hotel for good price.

I typically don’t leave reviews at hotels, but after reading the reviews at this place, I still decided to book and see for myself. Before I start, people do have to realize that this is Mexico. As a Mexican myself, you have to keep your expectations low, as this is a country of poverty. They won’t have luxury items, they won’t have pristine buildings, but they do the best they can to make your stay comfortable.

with this said, the food here was absolutely amazing! They had different varieties of cuisine every single day. With the all inclusive plan, we were able to have breakfast lunch and dinner as well as snacks(burgers/pizza/hot dogs) Alcohol is included in your plan and it was awesome to be able to drink to our hearts content. The staff was absolutely amazing and catered to every need.

The bedrooms did exactly what they needed to do. The bed wan't comfortable, but at least it gave us a place to sleep on. The AC worked great in our room, especially after a long day of being in the sun. The room was clean. The TV worked well. The shower was amazing and anytime we needed anything. We would call the front desk and they would be at the room within like five minutes

if you’re looking for a place on the budget, I would definitely recommend this place. 10/10 I would come back and stay here!!

Big mistake staying here. I don’t recommend staying here. Staff will ask for your plate to serve again or cup to refill your bar drink. Staff is very rude and you’re limited to 2 drinks at the bar. You will be better off paying a couple bucks more and staying at a more decent hotel. Their entertainment was a pervert guy next to the tool checking out girls/women and making perverted remarks. The food does not have any flavor and nothing seemed fresh. The bar tender doesn’t not know how to make drinks. He had to constantly check his phone to see how it’s make when a drink was ordered. Room was very dirty and old. I got bitten by bed bugs. Again do yourself a favor and avoid this place!!!

We would have liked more Mexican meals, we were in Mexico after all! But the food was good and a good variety. The part that we stayed in was older and I loved the charm of that except for the doors that did not seem at all secure! Otherwise we loved it! The grounds are beautiful. The beach is right there, with lovely sand. No shells though if you like to find them. The balcony with hammock was a favorite. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Hotel is very run down and the food isn’t really good. The service is pretty bad, the workers attitude is pretty poor. We tried to understand them as they were very understaffed. Our shower head was terrible, it was clogged and water only came out in three little strings. The water quality was also disturbing as you could smell and taste it when you brush your teeth. It did not taste good… We would never stay here again, you live, learn and move on. The AC did work very nice, but not worth the stay… we will be staying in the resort. Don’t try and take the cheap route like we did, you’ll regret it.

Our recent stay at the resort was a mix of delightful experiences and unfortunate mishaps. Traveling with a group of 13, including kids, we found the property wonderful for families. The kids had a blast, and the resort's layout facilitated fun group activities. The staff were accommodating, the beach was beautiful, and the drinks were tasty. We also loved the peacocks wandering around, adding a charming touch.

However, there were several downsides. On the first day, one of our phones was stolen, which was distressing. The food options were limited, particularly for kids – no chicken fingers, for instance.

The resort is overpriced for what it offers. The property is uneven and could be problematic for anyone with difficulty walking. One of our group members fell into a sewer grate covered by a stone, leading to a significant injury. These grates are scattered all over the property. Be careful, especially with children.

The rooms, though boasting postcard-worthy views, were outdated and not very clean, with issues like cockroaches and peeling ceilings. I recommend opting for the room upgrade at check-in, even though it costs extra. These accommodations are much nicer!

In summary, while the resort has great aspects, particularly for families, there are significant areas needing improvement. If these issues are addressed, it could be a fantastic destination.

There was a lot to like. The food was great the people were friendly check in and check out was very easy. The ocean is wonderful the beach could probably have had a little bit of cleaning as far as removing some of the seaweed but it didn't bother us. The rooms are a little bit run down you can tell it's a little bit older Beech Motel but everything worked the other Wi-Fi was spotty. The view of the ocean however and the hammock right on the balcony with the view of the ocean more than made up for it. I'm not sure that will revisit Cancun it was fairly crowded a little more expensive than we thought, but if we did I think we might well stay the same Hotel as those flyers by Fernando was an expensive Choice with the ferry going to East Lila's it's right next to us. Food is great service is great Hotel was average but no real complaints.

The rooms smelled of mildew. The peacocks make noises all night in the hallways. The staff was very friendly especially Guadeloupe. He was very attentive . The pools were clean. I did yoga, it was nice but had a lot of ants that kept crawling on the mat. Played pool volleyball, I enjoyed that. I’m pescatarian the first two day there was plenty to eat off of the buffet. The last three days were disappointing because they served the same dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I didn’t have many options to choose from. We tried to eat as soon as they opened up because flies were all over the food. They offer a pizza restaurant, I didn’t care for the pizza. The sushi restaurant I tried it once, they also have a restaurant with hotdogs and hamburgers, also nachos. I ate the nachos once. If you’re vegetarian or pescatarian you may not have many good choices when it comes to food. I did like the mashed potatoes and cilantro rice also the hashbrowns but the served all three only one time during our five day stay. I did like the fact that it’s a beachfront resort.

Rooms are very old, towels dingy, bed sheets did not look new or fresh, the telephone phones in the rooms do not work if you need assistance with anything you have to walk over to the main lobby. No elevators just steps, the food was just ok.

It was a beautiful property but because it is an older resort, the towels,where’s,pillows etc were as old! The loungers had really old cushions on them and also not enough for all to enjoy. The buffet was not good and they only place what each dish was in Spanish. Not much entertainment and also the bar shuts down at 10:30! People want to be able to dance and party a bit at the resort

The property itself was kept moderately clean except for the occasional bird poop on the walkways. The food was okay and there was lots to choose from. The staff were nice and respectful. There is no airport shuttle included and if you do not pick a room with food included you have to pay extra. On the first arrival you have to pay additional fees for the stay at the hotel around $4 a night. The actual hotel rooms are outdated and look way different from the picture. This place although a bit pricey had a low budget look and feel to it.

Had terrible stay for a night last week.
Got my wrist fractured due to broken stairs to beach. Our room 103 was infested with some rodent that ate the bread we had bought. The AC remote didn’t work and had to walk all the way to lobby to report the issue. The room phones don’t work. Other than the location there is nothing positive to write about from my trip.

The property itself was wonderful. Small, pretty and only steps to the beach. The restaurant, kid pool, and housekeeping staff worked their butts off and were always smiling and super friendly. The variety of food choices around the resort were amazing as well. If you didn’t feel like their buffet for lunch there was pizza, sushi, or burgers. The buffet was tasty and always a lot to choose from. They had a different theme each night of the week from Asian to Hawaiian, and Mexican to New Orleans. A big A to all of the above.

The room we stayed in was definitely outdated, but everything worked. There were four of us and we booked a double standard (King and a Double bed in the room) when we checked in (overwhelming experience-story to come), we got a room with two double beds. My 20 year old son and us took turns sharing a double bed with our 6 year old for the two weeks. After a few days of being uncomfortable I looked on the website to confirm that double standard was Infact a king and a double bed, and it was, so we tried to switch rooms but they made it really difficult for us, so we decided to stay and make it work.

The next issue.. Expedia/resort advertising. We booked an all inclusive trip, only to find out upon check in that we didn’t! In order for me to feed my family for the two weeks I had to pay $1900.00 Canadian, at check in, to upgrade to all inclusive. Talk about a punch in the gut- there went all our vacation spending money. Review maxed out-can’t finish.

Just like the other reviewer's the hotel room i stayed looked nothing like the pictures because it was at the hotel Dos Playas and not the Hotel Maya Caribe, even though I booked at Maya Caribe. It is a bait and switch tactic and after talking to other guest I was not the only one. One of them did complain and they switched them room so that is something you can try. I didn’t want to argue and with 2 kids under 2 I already had enough on my plate.

Now about the actual room, it’s old. From the light fixtures to the bed its very old. I guess you get what you pay for however in my case i didn’t pay for that and still got that. The bed only has two bed sheets and both had stains on them. Towels are thin and old and the door looks like it had the landlord special (painted and shaved on the edges probably because of humidity). The noise was not bad despite being in the entrance and first floor. Recap, room is old so don’t expect luxury and at least it was clean.

For Food i only paid for the breakfast since the other reviews did not have good experiences on the food and they are correct. If you are doing all day excursions not even breakfast is worth it since you end up leaving before they open.

Staff was friendly especially so if you tip. Even if you don’t everyone was nice and friendly. The only person that had a slight attitude was the security guard but it was 1 AM and I also would be grumpy if i worked night shift.

The ocean was great and rooms are close by.

This property needs a total renovation. The rooms have no solid door and has a gap between the walls so you can see out the halls and so noisy that no one can sleep. No shower curtains or toilets working properly at all.

We stayed here at the beginning of December 2023 with the family. The territory of the hotel is green, the sea was amazing. The staff was friendly and the food was really good. There was a Maxican day with all the Mexican dishes. On the rest of the days during our 1-week stay the food was from different regions but everything was tasty and fresh and the service in the restaurant was great. They also serve sushi, pizza and burgers during the day in other restaurants which are also quite good. The selection of drinks was more than enough. The property has some stairs when you move around but not a lot. They provided complimentry 2 bottles of water daily and there was a filter in the hall. The room itself is not so new and the faucets in the washroom could have been more convenient.But the overall stay for the price was decent.

My room had no hot water the toilet was broke both beds were unstable mattresses stacked on top of each other very wobbly and not secure very uncomfortable. Our flights got delayed so we missed our 1st night nothing was offered for the day missed the property advertised a waterpark for the kids but it was not available the food was trash the uncomfortable mattresses were dirty they only provided a thin sheet to sleep in room was hot the ac barely worked I will not recommend and I will not be back

The small size of the hotel was a big plus for us. We had a ground floor room with a patio overlooking the ocean. We could easily walk to food/drinks in the hotel as well as public transportation and ferry to the island.

This hotel has a lot of stairs to get from one area to another- Food not that great -- Seems to be a lack of personnel for the restaurant -- Installations a bit dated- The gardens are spectacular. Great location

Staff told me I could get early check in. Arrived at 11am and didn't get a room until AFTER 4pm (3 is actual check in) buffet food was TERRIBLE every meal, staff was extremely rude at the front desk, hotel worker opened my room door TWICE without even knocking and brought 2 men in to work on the balcony while my 16 year old daughter was alone and sleeping. Upon check out the front desk lady literally SCREAMED at me because we had taken our bracelets off and left them in the room. I can't stress how hungry my kids and I were. The food was NOT edible!

They offer a free water park but the hotel staff never new if it would be open as it was beautiful 5 out of 6 days we were there only the last day was raining and the water park NEVER opened.

The property was beautiful from the room balcony, to the walk away trails, the pools, and beach. The staff was very pleasing, and helpful, always there 24hrs for your needs. The location was very close to many shops, and pharmacy for last minute shopping. Something that can improve is the food, I feel like they’re should be a variety or a change each day in foods. Other than that drinks were great, definitely try all of them :) My stay was great, and relaxing, I definitely enjoyed my stay here and will come back.

The hotel locations are old, customer service and food is not good, the beds were the smaller I had see in my life.

I called expedia to add my husband on the hotel reservation, the representative told me I had to pay around $16 by nigth and the hotel charged me around $30 by night. Despite we were a marriage, the receptionist placed us on a 2 small beds room (It was supposed full beds)

The air conditioning was not working properly, we reported to the hotel staff and they didn’t fixed it.

Now called Dos Playas, the hotel staff will show you your paid choice then show you the $40 and $20 a night upgrades (out of the older rooms and into the beach view newer rooms). Breakfasts were great. Rooms very clean but no bathroom fan. Nice powdery white beaches.

Staff were wonderful. Actually got to know us by name! The resort itself is small, and there are no elevators but everything can be accessed by ramps, if necessary. Had many activities and entertainment. Also nice cabanas on the beach and in shaded grassy areas. The buffets, (3 restaurants and a snack bar) did contain basically the same food items every day with limited choices, but you would not go hungry! Pools - 5 of them, very clean, but a bit on the small side.

Don't pay to go here.

\"King\" bed is really less than a queen bed. There was no comforter, only 2 sheets. Wifi didn't work, and the breakfast in the morning was just awful. The rooms were in pretty poor shape, and dirty. The beach right off the place was tiny, dirty, and crowded. Luckily I was only staying one night before going to the Hyatt Zilara, but that one night felt like a week.

Wifi is low in the room , must go to the lobby for wifi. The room is so small and no elevator only ladder.

The beach is really nice and the breakfast only 180 peso. Really affordable but I expect so much more
