Room was clean but a bit outdated. The staff were very nice and helpful. I enjoyed the food selections and pool area. The beach area was beautiful as well. The only gripe we had was more about the hours of sunlight. We went in February. Due to the position of the hotel. By the pools, you would be in the shade by 4/4:30 pm and it was breezy and cool. Other than that, it was enjoyable.

Ocean was visible from our balcony which was the only good thing about the room. Bed was hard and horrible to sleep on. Rooms need completely remodeled. Door and walls thin and can hear everything in hallways. Doors slam shut consistently. Food was horrible and was very tired of buffet after having to eat there for breakfast and lunch every day. Restaurants for dinner had not great food and was very disappointing. Service was great and the grounds and pools were very clean. Beach front was great and loved the ocean front. Was not aware that this would be a party resort and there was lots of kids there for spring break. Yelling and partying going on all hours of the night. If you want a relaxing, quiet, vacation with a nice room to enjoy and good food, this is not the resort for you.

The ocean was steps away. All of the pools were great. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The rooms were spacious and comfortable we also enjoyed our balcony and the view. We were in walking distance of several restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Although the entertainment at the resorts was top notch. The RIU Parties were super fun! We definitely recommend Hotel Riu Cancun if visiting with No kids. Adults only is the way to go.

I have only one thing negative- upon check out we were told we had a charge to pay for soiled sheets. We most definitely soiled any sheets. We had to go round and round with them because I refuse to pay for something I didn’t do. Suggest housekeeping make a habit of having guest sign same day of incident to avoid mistakes like this.

We stayed at the wrong place. This hotel is a party hotel for young people. It was loud and rowdy.
All surfaces in the hotel are hard surfaces which creates a loud noise so that you cannot understand a word when you eat dinner in any of the restaurants.
The design of the whole building complex is a disaster. The rooms were very plain and basic. Interior door and glass panel between shower and bedroom do not serve any purpose. Interior wall mirror is deteriorating . No reservations for restaurants result in extended waiting times. Too many complaints to mention. A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT., WILL NEVER COME BACK.

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this hotel. Despite having a “Do Not Enter / Do Not Clean” sign clearly displayed, staff entered my room without my permission. Afterward, I noticed that my scarf and certain personal items were missing following the cleaning, which is completely unacceptable and a serious violation of privacy and trust.
On top of that, the bathroom had a leak that made the floor slippery, and I almost fell and seriously injured myself. When I reported this issue, it took an extremely long time for anyone to come check it, showing a lack of urgency and concern for guest safety.
I told the supervisor many times about both the missing items and the maintenance issue, yet they showed no care or respect for my concerns. There was no follow-up, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the situation or make things right.
Between the poor customer service, safety hazards, and complete disregard for guest privacy, I would not recommend staying here. I expected much better professionalism and care and they ruined my vacation and i did not enjoy it

Very disappointed with my stay at RIU Cancun. For the price they charge, the rooms are extremely outdated with old furniture and nothing close to luxury. Definitely not worth the money. The toilet towels are like 1000 years old.
The lobby is underwhelming and not impressive at all. The food was also below expectations for a RIU property, and there were almost no options for Muslim guests.
What upset me the most was the birthday arrangement. I informed them clearly in advance that we do not consume alcohol and requested no alcohol in the room. They acknowledged it and said there would be a surprise with cake. Instead, they placed a tequila bottle in the room. When I called reception to complain and asked them to remove it, they didn’t even bother coming to take it back. they simply hung up the call. Completely unprofessional.
Even when asking about visiting other riu properties, the response was basically “take a taxi” no shuttle, no assistance.
Overall, a big NO for RIU Cancun in the future. For the amount they charge, you’re better off choosing a cheaper hotel with better service and updated rooms.
Would not recommend.

When we first got there, we walked in the room and it smells. It was still dirty the bed didn’t have any fitted sheets. The bed was brown. The toilet was broken. The girl at the front desk tried to blame me. It was all rotted out. We found two roaches in the room. I have four pictures to prove everything. Big massive resort is not equal to a small resort with the same guest rating.
Big beautiful pool is a plus, but not nearly enough to overcome
crowds, mediocre food, fair service at best, employees do not even look at you or smile, garbage bags left on stairwells by pool that you have to walk around. No reservations restaurant that we waited 40+ minutes (heard another be told 90 min). Details matter. This resort is for you young, not so wise to the world people that are used to fast food. Will not make this mistake again.

Staff were very attentive all over the resort, at the bars, poolside, restaurants, lobby, etc.. Rooms were clean and comfortable, though not overly fancy. The property seems like it would benefit from some updating (an elevator was out of service “due to strong winds” for several days, jacuzzi was ice cold, some evidence of wear on some floor tiles throughout), but overall, a very positive experience. This was our first all inclusive, so we have nothing to compare it to, but I will say that the next time we book an all inclusive in Cancun, this one is on our list to consider.

A final note: as far as I could tell, the “resort credit” that Expedia promised us appeared to not be real, or at least there was no clearly defined way to utilize it if it was real. I didn’t care because it wasn’t something that was a deciding factor in my resort selection, but I wanted to mention in case it is a deciding factor for others!
