I enjoyed the property and how it was spread out from the partyers and the older folks who wanna sit by the pool and relax. I didn’t enjoy that there was only a server for pool side service at like noon at the older folks pool, but the party pool was more attended too.

The staff were nice except one women at the front desk that was extremely rude to
Me and when I was locked outta my room none the less essentially called me stupid for waiting for guest services who was on break so I could get my key card renewed so that I could go back to my room.

All and all 8/10 experience and I would go back.

The worst part about this hotel was the elevators. I think it shouldn’t take almost 10 mins when you have 3 of them working properly. I also think that, for the amount paid for all-inclusive, the food and drinks are very poor. I will never purchase an all-inclusive at this location. I did have a great experience outside of the hotel and I will be returning to Cancun.

You can go to all the clubs and bars: the best late is outdated compared to cabos. The staff is what would keep me coming back. Food is okay. As I said I’ve been to many of your resorts there was more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this hotel was a major disappointment. I booked this property because it was advertised as a newer resort. However, upon arrival, it felt more like an older hotel that had been rebranded rather than a true resort experience. The property was outdated, poorly maintained, and did not match the expectations set by the advertising.

There was absolutely no air conditioning when we arrived in the lobby, elevator and room. The elevator itself seemed a little bit weary as it felt extremely old.

Our room had several issues. The safe did not work, the phone did not work, so I could not contact the front desk for assistance, and there was no room service available. The room was extremely humid and took a very long time to cool down, yet never felt truly comfortable. The shower was leaking water outside of the shower area instead of inside.

The biggest concern was cleanliness & guest behavior. During my stay, I witnessed a guest vomiting in the pool, and in cups and the staff only splashed water over the counter and didn’t kick anybody out of the pool to sanitize properly. Another guest was vomiting from their balcony to the balcony below. Service was rude. Restaurant service was very slow, &when we expressed concerns about our room, staff seemed uninterested and offered no solutions.
I originally booked four nights but checked out after the first night because the experience was so far below expectations. I would not stay here again.

The property was clean and we were offered to change rooms due to an issue with our AC, which we appreciated. The only place to get alcoholic drinks prior to 10:00 AM is the sports bar, and you have to be clothed to go inside, so if you’re early risers, or poolside early, this isn’t very convenient. If you want coffee outside your room, you are limited to the Sports Bar and the buffet. The other two bar areas (closest to one of the 4 pools and some of the rooms) do not open until 10:00 AM. The buffet had an excellent variety for each meal and the food was good. The restaurants were decent as well. The Sports Bar unfortunately becomes the place where the 18-20 year olds hangout at night, which made it feel like it was the “kid” area on traditional hotels, at least during our stay. The pools had an adequate amount of lounge chairs as did the beach, which you don’t always find at hotels. The hotel is across from a few local food spots as well as touristy joints such as Hooters, Starbucks, etc. If you are looking for a hotel vibe close to a few things to walk and do, this is a great spot. If you’re looking for a true resort with staff serving you drinks through the day, this is not it. We booked with friends so I didn’t compare prices to other resorts, so this may have been a great bargain comparatively speaking.

Problem with noise. People slamming doors, screaming, and yelling all throughout night. No hot water in shower. Had to move rooms after complaining for 2 nights. No upgrade or any compensation for us. Desk people not helpful after a flight cancellation. Were told hotel completely booked not one room available. We asked to help book another riu room property but were told we had to do it online. Wifi not consistent. Problem with phones. Fire alarm was going off in middle of night.
Food was not great. But restaurant staff was really good. Housekeepers and bellmen were great. However,, We will not be returning to this property.

Our experience was okay. The staff was wonderful however the front desk isn’t very helpful. We got placed on the 14th floor and for two nights in a row we had a group of young adults screaming as loud as they could, slamming doors, pounding on our walls and at one point we heard them talking about jumping over through our balconies to get to their friends. We presented this to the front reception and we got moved to a basic room by the elevators on floor 12. On our last day, our departing flight got cancelled and we were at risk of needing to stay another night and the only thing we were told by front desk was that they were completely full and it was our responsibility to contact another resort to pay for an extra night. I would not stay here again.

We booked our trip to RIU Cancun - Adults Only through Expedia and we had a great time. The booking was simple. We used Mexican Travel Solutions (MTS) for our transportation and they were great. We booked the premium pick up service so our family of five had our own vehicle, with drinks, and they were ready for us and took us straight to the hotel. They have a staff stationed in the hotel that was very helpful with booking other excursions.
The hotel is phenomenal. Super clean! They have a ton of staff that works hard all day and night and were helpful and friendly. We ate at the buffet, the Italian restaurant, the Japanese restaurant and the steak restaurant and all were great. Service was incredible and we got right in with no reservations. We had breakfast in the buffet every day and it was great with lots of options. Pepe's at the pool was a nice surprise with burgers, hot dogs, tacos, etc., available.
The junior suites were large and the air conditioning worked great. The rooms had two full beds with a desk, coffee table and a couch, that could also be a bed. The balcony overlooked the ocean and was really nice with two chairs, a table and a rack to dry clothes.
The pools were really clean, plenty of room with lots of games and activities. The swim-up bar and pool bar had great drinks and service. The sports bar was excellent with TVs and three pool tables.
The corner bar and pool were a little more quiet and were excellent as well.
I highly recommend this resort!

My stay at Riu Cancun was vibrant and memorable. The resort offered stunning ocean views, lively entertainment, and a variety of dining options that kept every meal exciting. IT WAS AMAZING. My boyfriend and I went for our very first couples trip and it was also my birthday. I got gifted a bottle of tequila by the resort, there was decorations in my room with a balloon and some towels in the form of a cake. They were absolutely amazing. The entertainment team was an ab 10/10
The food was pretty good at the buffet. We loved the options so much that we didn’t even try the themed restaurants. The staff were kind and caring. They were always smiling and very welcoming. Oscar from the entertainment team was an absolute joy to be around. I loved every bit of my vacation it was PERFECT.
The resort was beautiful the beach was beautiful the pools were beautiful and there were so many fun activities lined up by the resort. THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO BOOK IT GIRL!

Just back from a week all inclusive and this hotel is fab. It caters for all ages (adults only of course) so it can be as lively or quiet as you want. The place is spotless and well maintained. The entertainment team are absolutely brilliant day and night which was the biggest highlight for us. The hotel is not too far from the shopping mall if you want to venture out for a wander about. Restaurants within are great - menus are scaled down but it works. Our room was an Oceanview corner suite on the 12th floor. It was fab and the view was just awesome.

My only gripe being on the 12th floor is the lifts are a bit slow.

I’d have no hesitations about going back to this hotel

This resort is ok. It was in definite need of maintenance. The rooms were clean, but everything was heavily worn. I don't mind older furniture, but you could tell some had been abused and many things were just painted over with an attempt to hide the blemishes instead of fixing things. Biggest issue was the cards to the rooms!! We had to have them rekeyed numerous times. They are incredibly sensitive to being near a phone or other magnetized thing. It was daily, sometimes a couple of times a day we had to have the keys reset. very very frustrating. The food was ok. Sadly didn't have a meal that made me want to go back for more, but I never went hungry either! The pools were VERY warm. almost like bath water. That part wasn't very enjoyable. would have liked a map of the premises, as it wasn't until the last day we found the quieter pool to the right side of the resort. Overall it was ok for what we went for ( our 18 year old daughters birthday with her friends) but not something my husband and I would go back to. We are also use to people getting dressed up nicely for dinner and dress codes at dinner and people were in swim and covers, that was also unusual for us. The teenagers liked the club at the resort!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Riu Cancun, but there are a few areas that could be improved.

* The food selection felt repetitive, with many of the same options available every day.
* Some liquor brands and drink options were not consistently available, limiting guest choices.
* The property could benefit from more trees and shaded areas to provide better protection from the sun, especially around the pool and outdoor spaces.
* The sports bar needs more seating and additional space, as it can become crowded during busy times.

The staff were friendly, and the location is excellent, but these improvements would make the guest experience even better.

i recently stayed at Riu Cancun and had a great experience overall. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone with easy access to beaches, restaurants, and nightlife. The beach was beautiful, with clear turquoise water and plenty of space to relax.The rooms were clean and comfortable, and many offer amazing ocean views. The staff were friendly, hardworking, and always willing to help. The food selection was good, with several restaurants and buffet options available throughout the day. Drinks were plentiful, and the all-inclusive service made the stay very convenient.

It was our first time traveling to Cancun, Hotel Riu Cancun was fun! The day time parties are lots of fun and the night time parties they can be hit or miss. Also the pools close at 7pm which stinks they are open longer. There’s really not much to do on the Resort at night but the clubs in area are great to go to. Also once dinner time is over you can only get food from the sports bar and it’s all pre made, also it’s first come first serve and no limit on how many you can grab so some groups grab handfuls of food and the fridge didn’t get restocked with more. We would visit the resort again since we had such a great time and meeting amazing new friends

Enjoyed the hotel, a little outdated and in need of a few touch ups but overall a great place to stay. Buffet was terrific and had plenty of choices. The steak restaurant was a disappointment and the food was bad. The menu of the restaurants was small and limited. Only ate at the steak restaurant then decided to stay with the buffet and the grill by the pool. Staff was friendly, entertainment was good, and the view was great. Overall enjoyed the stay.

No room service, getting anything to eat after hours is difficult.

Those elevators I am not sure they are even certified, the floor was lifting and uneven, digital display not working, poor lighting, broken rails. Good luck if you are stuck in there.

The room I asked for an ocean view and got a room that I can’t event see the ocean properly because of a concrete barrier the balcony was useless.

The property overall is well kept, the landscaping staff do an excellent job. However, the property needs investment dollars in some areas needs in terms of updating and general maintenance. Do not expect a Riu Palace. however my brother and I had a great time.

We had an incredible stay, and I want to highlight just how special the experience was. The room was spotless every day — a huge thank‑you to Carman for the amazing work and attention to detail. It truly made the room feel welcoming and comfortable.

The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely committed to making our stay enjoyable.

Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with plenty of variety and great quality. Every meal felt thoughtfully prepared, and we looked forward to dining each day.

What meant the most to us was how the team helped make our first wedding anniversary unforgettable. Their kindness and small thoughtful touches made the celebration feel personal and truly special. It’s something we’ll always remember.

Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. Clean rooms, great food, and a staff that goes above and beyond — we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Went as a group of four aged 24-34, we had a blast! The staff were friendly and the party crew were very fun and entertaining. The food is mostly buffet style but you do have the options to eat at one of their specialty restaurants for dinner if buffet isn’t your style. There are five pools, three are more on the party side and two are away on a more relaxed side if thats your vibe. The beach had a lot of sargassum which is typical for the time of year we went. I would recommend going to one of the riu parties, they are a five minute shuttle ride to the hotel that hosts them and free for anyone staying at a riu.

My two complaints were that the wait time for the elevators was always pretty long, and my other complaint was that the key cards for your room are extremely sensitive. The staff is very quick and friendly about reactivating your card but still a minor inconvenience.

Overall we do plan to return to this location and do recommend!

Room was dated but clean. I did not have hot water in the shower. Housekeeping did a wonderful job. Food was just average. Too many young, rude 20 to 30 yr old Americans. I was uncomfortable with the atmosphere that they created. The Canadian younger crowd was more pleasant and polite. I probably will not return to this resort because of the undressed, pot smoking, rude, loud Americans. I am American myself and I was embarrassed for them. David at the inside bar was fabulous in the evening! I went down every night to have a cocktail before dinner. It was easy to get into all the restaurants! The buffet was very good and I enjoyed my meals there. Also the younger people need to understand that if they get food service they should tip!!!

Nothing too fancy, we were looking for a good deal for a friends birthday and upbeat vibes. It checked those boxes. Not the cleanest and most maintained. Staff was great.

The Hotel Riu Cancun had pros and cons regarding our recent visit. First of all, they were very nice to allow early check-in, as the staff was great the entire stay..from the front desk to the waiters. We did have an issue with our card keys to begin our trip, and had to make the trip from our 11th floor back to the lobby to get the card keys activated. The elevator broke down on our stay, and it took a while to get up and down as the entire hotel was limited to two lifts only. Once we checked in and freshened up, we reallized our shower drain was not working, however, they were quick to fix it, although it was not fixed completely, as slow drainage continued. The food was good overall, with a big variety. My biggest complaint regarding our stay was the temperature of the water in all swimming pools...it wasn't even bath water, more like a sauna. When vacationing in the heat of Mexico, a cold water swimming pool is a must, and you would certainly expect that at a resort such as the RIU. This was mid-may, I can't even imagine had it been July or August. I must commend the staff once more, they were excellent for the duration of our 4 night stay.
