All went well from the greeting upon my arrival to assistance with directions. However, I was charged for the minibar - two waters on the countertop. With a quick phone call, the charges were reversed, and confirmation was sent. The rooftop view was beautiful and a great place to wind down after a busy day in NYC; however, the staff at Vue 180 were not as kind as the front desk staff. While the room was clean for a hotel room, there were areas that clearly had not been vacuumed thoroughly, under the bench.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights, and unfortunately it ruined what should have been a wonderful trip to New York.
After my first night, I woke up with an intensely itchy rash on both of my arms. The rash consisted of small, red, raised bumps and continued to worsen throughout my stay, eventually spreading to my legs. I've visited New York many times and have never experienced anything like this, so I asked housekeeping whether the hotel's laundry detergent, linens, or cleaning products could be the cause. Due to a language barrier, my questions went unanswered. I requested that my sheets be changed, which finally happened after the second night, but the rash continued to worsen.
At checkout, I again asked the front desk what products were used in the hotel and was told someone would find out. Hours later, I still had no response. Before leaving, another employee took my contact information and left a note for the assistant manager, but I never received a call or email.
The most disappointing part was the complete lack of concern or follow-up. I had to return home and see a doctor for a medical issue that should have been taken seriously while I was still a guest. For the amount we spent, I expected far better customer service and believe a refund is warranted.

Stay was excellent. Room was clean and well maintained. Very busy due to major events in the city but was not properly staffed to accommodate rush of guests. Staff did their best but certainly could have used more help, especially in the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was good, but restaurant was significantly understaffed for a dining room of that size.

The rooftop bar was really quaint and cute with beautiful views overall it was a great price for a nice stay.

First of all I was promised breakfast with my reservation but the hotel denied it for me. Second the room was very small and there were no room even for walking. The vanity and shower too small and the room was too laud. I will not recommend this hotel again and I won’t stay here again

Excellent stay. Far enough from the craziest of Time Square but still a nice central location. Small according to most standards but plenty spacious for 2 by NYC norms. Clean. The bed was pretty comfy. It was decently quiet, like yes you can hear faint sirens etc, but we slept like babies. After walking 10k steps a day it’s amazing what you can sleep through. We had a beautiful view of the ESB too. Very walkable to shows and MSG among many other things. Metro access was a block away. Excellent staff. Was offered free breakfast after simply chatting at check in about a tough day I had right before this trip. Also, it was an anniversary trip and champagne and chocolate was left in our room with a cute note. Being able to leave luggage at check in was nice so we could go out and explore before the room was ready. Approaching check out our flights got canceled and moved to much later in the day, post check out time, and they allowed us to still store our luggage with them while we took advantage of the unexpected extra time then when we weren’t sure how to get to the airport, Ubers were canceled/airport was closed for 1/2 the day due to a fatal runway accident, the front desk staff was able to assist in getting us someone to the hotel that could take us to the airport. They really went above and beyond and it was very much appreciated. For the staff alone I’d come back and stay here next time and I hope corporate sees and rewards their efforts. Overall 10/10.

Superb customer service!

There was an issue with Expedia, and Expedia cancelled my reservation, but the agent at the hotel was quick to resolve it in person and accommodated us so swiftly.

You can take really nice city pictures here! The view of the Empire State Building from our room was impeccable. You can also get a really amazing view and pictures in their rooftop lounge. Love their pesto flatbread! Will be back soon!

Let’s start with it was, by far, the most expensive hotel at which I’ve ever stayed. It was $460 a night. I had high expectations. On the first evening I went up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy the view and take some photos. I was told to leave if I wasn’t going to order a drink. For $460! I thought as a Hilton Rewards guest that breakfast was included. No, it was going to be $27 a day. For $460 a night! The gym has no weight machine and NO WATER! For $460 a night! I thought the WiFi would be high speed using it just to send photos and watch Instagram videos. But, no, there was constant buffering! For $460 a night! There are nearby hotels that cost less and offer much more.

The Location & Safety
The location of the hotel is decent, but it's important to note that this specific section of 8th Avenue has a very high concentration of homeless individuals. While the neighborhood outside can feel a bit intense, the hotel staff and security do an incredible job. They are highly visible and proactive, which made us feel entirely safe the moment we stepped inside.

The Rooms
Be prepared for tight quarters. The rooms are incredibly small—at least the one we stayed in. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage or prefer space to stretch out, you might feel a bit cramped here.

The Service (10/10)
The absolute highlight of this hotel is the service. Every single request we made was answered immediately and always with a genuine smile. A special shoutout goes to Cody, who was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The hospitality team really saves the day here.

The Rooftop Bar (Vue180)
While the views might be nice, Vue180 is an absolute pass. It is insanely expensive, and it felt like they use overcharging as a standard business method rather than an accident. Keep a close eye on your tab, or better yet, grab your drinks at one of the countless other bars nearby.

Came in early at 8am to drop bags, check in and back around 4pm for the room. When we came back, our room was not ready and we had to wait another hour. Not sure why the loooonggg delay but if I’ve already checked in the morning, why would I still wait past the check in time for my room. We were tired and also had a baby in tow. To begin, the check-in was quick and the staff was friendly. They gave us a warm cookie to enjoy which was delicious and unexpected. The room was very clean, and very quiet and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and in perfect condition. The accommodation was perfect for a few days in New York City, centrally located to great restaurants and entertainment. I opted to purchase the breakfast in the hotel and I am so glad I did. The coffee was delicious as was the food and the staff was very friendly. This is a great place! Why four stars instead of five? It’s not a Presidential Suite, which would earn five stars, it’s a very good hotel room and worthy of every one of four stars!

The first night was awesome very peaceful and calm,but I had to call the front desk due to the fact that once i turneddown the bed covering the top comforter were stained.
It was replaced immediately.The second night was horrible,the walls to the room are extremely thin this means that you can hear everything what the person in the next room is doing.No sound proof rooms and sleep was no where in sight due to the person snoring like a run away train and the coughing.It was a horrible time night.
The check out guy was extremely helpful,he did asked if I was a reward member at that time,I was not,he wanted to reward me for the inconvenience.
After thinking about it I decided to become a member.
So am now a member.
Overall the property is very inconvenient and within walking distance to the trains and lots of bars and varieties of pizza eateries along the a large varieties of restaurants.

Beware of how tiny the room is. Also no dresser or large drawers to unpack. The closet rod goes towards you, instead of running sideways so it’s very impractical. There are lots of homeless people outside sitting on the benches/patio, and as a younger female I had to be careful. But there is always a security worker at the door which was helpful. The front desk staff are friendly and were able to accommodate an early check in. I wouldn’t stay here again but everything was as described

Outdoor View from the top floor bar/ lounge was amazing. If it’s raining though, the inside lounge space is very small with only 3-4 tables. I wish we could have checked-in earlier since we flew in on a red-eye flight, but hotel staff was able to store our luggage as we explored NYC till the 4pm check-in time. This was an excellent location to catch a train from Penn Station/ Moynihan Train Hall, subway entrances, fairly close to Times Square/ Broadway and Empire State Building. Room and bathroom were small but clean.

We had a great stay at the Doubletree! It was close to Penn Station, so we could walk with our luggage. The hotel was comfortable, the bed was great, and the staff were all really friendly. We would definitely stay there again!

I think having a filtered water station on site would be a great upgrade. We have had that amenity before when traveling in cities and it is really convenient. And it also cuts down on waste.

I had a fantastic experience! The hotel boasts an unbeatable location, putting everything within walking distance. Just a few little annoyances kept me from a 5 rating. The outlets on the nightstand did not work. Water going through the pipes from rooms above made our bathroom sound like there was a water leak in the middle of the night. The final bill, due to city tax, unpleasantly surprised us. Other than those, it was a pleasant stay.

My air didn’t work in my room, during most of my stay. I informed the front desk, and maintenance was sent promptly . However it took a few days for the ac system to correct itself. The breakfast was over priced for the quality. It would be better to include it in the price and offer buffet breakfast. The hotel is in an extremely high traffic area. Many in my party had trouble locating the hotel because it is set back. It needs a bigger sign. The only high point was the staff. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I would definitely pass on this hotel during my next visit.

Honestly I thought I wasn’t going to have a good experience with this hotel because prior to my arrival everytime I would call I would get placed on hold and the staff wouldn’t come back to the phone…BUT….. when we arrived the staff was so nice and accommodating we were able to to early check in the room was clean and beds comfortable and the cookies were delicious! Would definitely stay her again. Once I arrived I see why I was on hold for so long because the front desk stays busy! But the hotel was awesome would definitely stay here again when we return

Access by car was not easy. We had to approach from a side street and turn left into 8th Avenue into a bicycle lane to discharge our bags. Had to thread our way through parked bikes to get to the front entrance. Room was small with a view of a sewing factory across the street.

The entrance to the hotel was unsafe. There’s a public area just outside the doors where there’s always a number of homeless and panhandlers that you would have to navigate to get to the front door. If the benches aren’t available to sit on because of the homeless sleeping on them, it’s always wet from watering the plants behind the benches.

Also, there was an overnight desk person, Terry Anna, who was always extremely rude.

This was our first time in NY, so we really had no idea on where to stay location wise when we booked the hotel. When we first arrived and checked in, I was abit worried because it seemed really busy outside the hotel, and our room was on the 2nd floor, overlooking the street outside. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the room was, you barely heard the noise from the street, infact the noises from inside the room were louder (I.e. the aircon), and we were right near the lift so we could also hear that (this wasnt an issue for us though). I did bring ear plugs for sleeping, I would recommend brining some if your a light sleeper or need complete silence to sleep.
The room was also really clean and it was cleaned each day which was nice and unexpected.

The staff were all really attentive and were happy to answer all our questions. They also booked us a private taxi back to the airport which I would recommend doing, especially if your planning on getting a yellow cab. The private hire was much better and didnt cost much more.

The roof top bar was a nice touch, it was really chilled, and was nice after a long day sightseeing.

Hotel location was perfect for us...on time square without being too close to the main part. We walked everywhere and we found the it was perfect for us and within reasonable walking distance, but if walking isnt your thing then there is a subway station a short walk away.

Great location right next to Penn Station, but removed just enough so that it’s not dirty in front of or around the hotel. Lovely rooftop bar - worth enjoying if you’re visiting during the warm months of the year.

Room was quiet and blackout curtains worked well. The one and only inconvenience was the design of the shower stall - water flows over the lip easily and onto the main floor (would end up with a puddle by the end of the shower).

The rooms are extremely small and can barely accommodate luggage. The front of the hotel is often filled with garbage, and the hotel does not appear to maintain the area properly. The outdoor benches at the entrance are frequently occupied by homeless individuals and people struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, which is not appropriate for a “boutique” hotel environment.

In addition, the ceiling in my bathroom was leaking into the room, and there was little effort made to properly fix the issue or offer me another room. Some of the rooms are also very dark and lack sufficient lighting.
