Please check to see if they are finished with renovations before stayjung, Their first priority starting first thing in morning and tan all day was for the people delivering and waiting 17 mins for the elevator and half the time not working was very inconvenient! And they really had no apologies for that. They were quick to pick up phones though.

A slight pain was the renovations meaning lift access and times was restricted.

Disappointing Stay: Health Hazard & Poor Service at Hampton Inn Times Square South
Stay Dates: April 19 – April 20, 2026
I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square South and was deeply disappointed by the lack of cleanliness and the dismissive attitude of the staff. For a branded hotel, the experience was unacceptable.
The Issue: Debris & Poor Air Quality
Upon checking in, the room was cold, so we turned up the heat. Immediately, the AC/heating unit began spewing black dirt and debris all over the room. As seen in the photos, this soot covered the bed linens and the floor. To make matters worse, a foul, damp smell began emanating from the unit the moment it was turned on.
Management Response
We immediately contacted the front desk to request a room change, as the bed was covered in particles and the air quality felt unsafe. Our request was denied. Instead of moving us to a clean room, they sent someone to \"clean\" the unit. Even after this attempt, the debris continued to fly out.
The Result: A Sleepless, Cold Night
Because the unit was clearly malfunctioning and dirty, we had to turn it off entirely to avoid breathing in the debris. We asked for a portable heater to get through the night, but the hotel did not have one available. We were forced to sleep in a cold room with dirt on the carpet and bedding.

We arrived @6 to find a Hugh amount of mattresses outside the hotel one looking like some one had been shot. The hotel was crowded with workers making it difficult to get around. Fortunately it went up from there. The rooms were ok just about what you would expect in NY. The property needed some updating. The hotel was very crowded and made using the elevator difficult @times. The best part was the breakfast. Cesar (who handled it) was great, friendly and really helpful. Overall I’d give this a 7 out of ten. Not bad but not great either.

The hotel was amazing. The staff was impressive and always ready to help. The room was very clean. We paid $85 for valet parking and it was well worth it. We were close to everything even though we got lost a few times. The area was really safe. Breakfast was good. A wonderful employee made waffles of a few varieties to anyone who wanted one. He waited on us constantly.

We arrived from the UK around 9pm and were told that the 3 double queen bed rooms we booked and paid extra for months ago were not available. We were offered three king rooms instead which was not suitable for our party. Told we would have to move to another hotel, after hanging around for over an hour the miraculously found two double queen bedrooms and we reluctantly had to accept a king room as the third room and two friends had to sleep in the same bed.
Hotel very dated, but they are currently upgrading rooms, as all the communal areas were full of mattresses waiting to go to rooms. It was clean and staff were absolutely lovely.
Location fabulous.
Breakfast basic, but nice.

Although the staff was very nice and the breakfast was good. We were concerned with the renovations going on. There were dozens of mattresses sitting in the lobby & outside the hotel. At first it was new mattresses waiting to be taken in. Then there was old mattresses waiting to be picked up. This in and out of the mattresses caused only 1 elevator to be available and staff was running it manually. This caused very long wait times every time we needed to go to or from our room. (15min plus waits each way) If we were on a low floor we would have used the stairs but we were on the 26th floor and 1 member of my party is pregnant so the elevator was a necessity. There has to be a better time than a fully booked weekend to change out mattresses. When I contracted them about this through my booking agent they denied any type of credit back. They need to have it on the site as under renovation so you are aware of it before booking and can decide.

Overall it was fine. The room was a little abused meaning wall paper old and peeling, rug looked very worn, bathroom old but functional. The breakfast was also fine, nothing special but tasty enough and included in the rather high nightly rate. However, the hotel decided to change all the mattresses in the hotel all at once. It was a nightmare. They worked all day even the weekend, trying up the 2 small elevators so you had to text the fest to send you an elevator most of the time and then wait for about 5-10 minutes. Hope you weren’t in any rush. The staff did their bit but it was a horrible plan and my room never did get the mattress while I was there.

Small room mold in the ac vents. It was a doubly bed room the could honestly fit just 1 bed comfortably. Elevators were SLOW AF. They put signs up that we would wait up to 15 minutes. Elevator was empty still many is wait because they had no service elevator! Breakfast was average the oatmeal was the only good thing! No space to sit and eat staff left the mess they saw on table to do other things. I expected better

It was my first time in NYC and it was my hubands birthday on our stay,When you walk in you are greeted by friendly staff.Price was great.They went beyond our expectationns.They decorated the room with balloons for my husbands birthday and left goodies for welcoming me to NYC.The room had the perfrect view to the Edge and many more buildings.It was very clean and very comfortable.Breakfast was free every morning with eggs,sausage,potatoes,bagels,toast,fruits,yogurt,cereal etc,Every single staff member from the front desk to janitors to room cleaners were so helpful and friendly.I recommend this to anyone! Its close to Time square and many other places! So many restaurants and bars near by,It was amazing staying here and will definitely stay again.

Great location—super convenient to everything. The room was clean, housekeeping came daily, and the bed was comfortable.

Free breakfast is a nice perk, but it gets very crowded. The waffles weren’t great, though the staff was friendly.

Big downside is the elevators—only two for 32 floors, and the wait in the morning is very long since staff use the same elevators.

Also wish the hotel was more transparent about the security deposit before check-in.

Overall, good stay mainly because of the location

Excellent service. Top notch front desk service, best cleaning services, the most comfortable beds and pillows, hot showers and fresh towels daily. Delicious and filling breakfast was provided early with hot coffee, juice, and sweets to your liking- The hotel is smartly situated just a block from midtown energy, two blocks from the trains and buses, and several blocks from 42nd off Broadway. Shopping and numerous restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.
The only downside were the exceedingly long waits for the elevator that we often walked down to the lobby or breakfast. Overall, my granddaughter and I had a positive experience at Hampton Inn.

We were really impressed with the Hampton Inn during our stay to NYC. The hotel worked with us after our flight was canceled due to an airport closure and made our vacation a success. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cesar made us great waffles for breakfast and our rooms were refreshed daily when we returned from exploring the city. The room staff even made cool designs with my kid's blanket like on cruise ships. I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting NYC.

The hotel itself was fine, but I had a flight cancelled and hitels.com, who I booked through contacted the hotel and they would not refubd the first night. Then when I eventually arrived a day later in NY from Auckland there was an issue re the booking. The person on the desk claimed it was a no show. It was sorted when a manager got involved, but very disappointed. Ithe remaining two nights were definitely confirmed. For this reason I will stay somewhere else bext time. There are a number of other nearly hotels of a similar budget price range. When I returned to NY for my fkight home I booked the Hilton express 2 doors down and found the front counter staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast staff at the Hampton Inn were very helpful and should be commended.

I would like to highlight the excellent service, friendliness, problem-solving, and proactivity of the front desk employee, Mr. Saud — he deserves a perfect score.

Regarding the comfort of the bed, the quality of the linens, and the breakfast, they also deserve congratulations.

However, the main issue is the cleanliness of the rooms, the entrance, and the breakfast area. The room carpets are not well maintained, and the bathroom frequently has issues, requiring us to request refills.

Additionally, several staff members enter the elevator even when it is already full, showing a lack of courtesy and making guests feel uncomfortable by crowding them.

The folks at the front desk were always super nice and always greeted you coming and going. Cesar was unreal on Tuesday am during breakfast. A friendly hello. Willing to help everyone. Had the waffles on demand. Everything was re filled and clean. Super nice guy and he was ready to get rolling on making the cookies which you could smell everywhere on the lower level. Honestly, the only good thing was the staff! They get 5 stars- the property gets 2, and that’s a little generous. It’s run down- the shower door didn’t close properly, everything in the bathroom got soaked! Towel bar hanging off the wall- elevators were broken and extremely slow when they were working. Breakfast was a hard pass-even the coffee wasn’t ok! Won’t be staying there again. My colleagues also requested a different property for future trips to NYC!

Our stay at the hotel was very good. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance, which made it really convenient to get around and enjoy the area. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Times Square South for just one night. Overall, it was fine for a quick overnight stay, but it’s not a hotel I would personally choose again or recommend for a longer visit.

The room was extremely small and fairly basic. When we first arrived, there was quite a bit of dirt and brown residue on top of one of the beds, which was disappointing. The staff responded quickly and moved us to another room right away, which we appreciated.

On the positive side, the location is very convenient with easy access to Times Square and nearby attractions. The price was also a very good deal for Manhattan, and the staff throughout the hotel were genuinely friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was another nice bonus.

That said, aside from the location, price, and friendly staff, the hotel itself felt pretty average overall. It works if you just need a simple place to sleep for the night, but there are likely better options if you’re planning to stay longer or want a more comfortable experience.

As expected, the room was small. The main issue was with the elevators. There are only two small lifts (capacity around 10 people each). During breakfast and checkout time in the morning, we often had to wait 10–15 minutes or more depending on the floor.

Otherwise, the location is excellent. The breakfast staff were very nice and helpful. I especially liked the staff member making waffles and serving them fresh in order to guests.
