I just wanted to write this to make everyone aware of unknown fees if you book through a third party. We booked this hotel months ago here through Hotels.com. We paid $252 for four nights. We arrived at the hotel and the hotel wanted an extra $145 per day as a form of resort fee. I went back and looked at our confirmation and the only mention of an additional fee was a $120 deposit. When I asked what the fee was for, the response was, "Two free drinks, a voucher for $10 off dinner and a free breakfast". I ended up on the phone with Hotels.com who reviewed their agreement and there wasn't any mention of this either. Hotels.com ended up refunding our $252 and we went around the corner and stayed at the Allerton, which was MUCH nicer.

Clean as Clean can be when it comes to a great hotel, I enjoyed it so much I stayed on the 28th floor and I hate heights but loved every moment and yes I was comfortable with being that high up , the only thing I wish I would of knew more of was about the rooftop , when I stayed it was my Bday weekend and Unfortunately there was a private party which you could have paid ($30 a head) but the music upstairs wasn’t fitting for my vibe , NOW the lobby was a hit! I mean it was just amazing even if it was the first time they had a DJ BRING HIM BACK!

Booked a room with a city view. Got a room with frosted glass. Booked a room with a bathtub and asked for tooth brushes, bathtub did not hold water. The roof top bar where you can redeem your drink cards had a special scene that made it closed. The manager there next day because there was no manager in duty that night said he knew nothing about it, my guest got stuck on the elevator and the fire department had to pry open the doors after almost two hours being stuck. The response from the manager, we were charged the kids that caused the problem sorry. We could possibly give you half credit back. They are also holding my deposit until April 4th. Tomorrow is a business day. I would never recommended this hotel and I want to know where the management was along with the amenities I paid for that we didn’t receive!?

Room was outdated mostly, Tv didn't work half the time . Bathroom smelled like old urine. Was told about the roof top bar at check in then told hours later can't go up there closes for a private event Breakfast was okay but the Microwave eggs, and sausage were gross, Gad to ask for Towels to shower .Won't stay again.

The staff was kind and professional. I was there for 5 days for a conference. I was not convenient or efficient for me. Jet lagging, the fact that I could not make tea first thing and had to go downstairs to get tea (with fake sugary creamer) and couldn’t make beverages in the hotel room when I was working late was incredibly frustrating. The gym was great. I didn’t realize there was a night club upstairs so Friday and Saturday nights were impossible to get into elevators and I was on the upper level. Manager was incredibly rude. I would not recommend this place and will not be back.

I enjoyed my single day here. I saw disturbing stories elsewhere of them adding a resort fee or mandatory benefits package, but in my case that appears to have been included in my up front room cost. There was a large young folk party next door but there was decent room to room noise dampening (though I still heard it). Slept like a log either way. I'm fairly sure had I complained the desk would have been on it but was in a 'let the kids have their fun' mood.

The nachos ($10 off, so $5) and two free drinks at the bar were nice. The breakfast was very meh, but free.

All the staff in all my interactions were friendly.

Fair warning. If you ask for late checkout your key still stops working at 11 AM so plan ahead. I was simply waiting for my next room so just hung out in bed. Had I been coming and going this would have been a hassle.

everything is fully automated, and a lot of it just doesnt work. i wasnt there to tour, so i was disappointed that the amenities were slightly askew from the website. there are really nice water bags and tickets youre supposed to get at check-in, I just didnt receive them.

the internet was down about 1/3 of the stay. 3/4 of TV channels were blocked.

honestly - its clearly very streamlined for them, just inserts obstacles for visitors until they just give up. that was flatly annoying.

pros: its cheap. clean. large room, comfortable bed. if youre touring, or a business visitor it may be close to your function.

Every step of the way with this booking, I received lists of amenities that were included. It was confirmed when I called, forwarded my way after booking from Expedia and the hotel, in text, and in email. I even messaged ahead to mention it was a celebratory weekend, and we wanted it to be extra special and planned to spend more money than what was included in "Credits."

When I checked in, I waited 20 mins in line, and when I finally got to the front, I offered a big smile and friendly greeting...and was met with dismissive, rude engagement and nothing else. Check-in was about 30 seconds, no amenities were mentioned, I was given keys and that was it. I figured I'd get settled and ask about the details (how to use the amenities, when we'd receive credits, etc), and when I checked in, that same list was blaring from the TV which listed all the same details. I reached out on the text line and was informed that NONE of the amenities actually applied to the room I'd booked (a total surprise to me given all of the above, never listed anywhere). I'd been planning especially on the complimentary breakfasts for me and my guests, but they fought back on even giving complimentary waters. How does an $800 booking with a laundry list of amenities suddenly not even include WATER?! When I shared my dismay, they stopped responding.

I stay in lots of hotels and I'm an Expedia gold member- I will NEVER recommend this hotel collection. Ever.

The location was perfect for our stay - right next to the Northwestern Hospital where my daughter had her baby. It was also walking distance to restaurants and shopping. It was an excellent and safe location. We plan to return!

I stayed at Chicago Hotel Collection for two nights in March and unfortunately had a very poor experience.

At first the price seems attractive, but almost everything requires an additional fee. If you choose not to pay for upgrades or extra services, they place you in a very undesirable room. My room was on a low floor facing another apartment building, and the windows were blurry/frosted, so there was essentially no view.

There were also many basic amenities missing. There is no coffee in the rooms, and the coffee machines in the lobby were limited and some of them were not even working. There is no complimentary bottled water, and you are charged for almost everything.

Housekeeping was not provided daily, which was disappointing for a hotel.

The most frustrating part was the staff experience during check-in. I arrived around 11 PM and the staff member was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful.

While the location is good, the overall experience was not worth the price. If you are going to pay extra for basic amenities anyway, you are much better off staying at places like Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Swissôtel Chicago, or Hyatt Regency Chicago, where you actually receive proper service.

I would not recommend staying here.

Nice clean and spacious room , good breakfast and rooftop bar and terrace ( although we had to ask the front desk person to unlock the door to access it which he did promptly and cheerfully.)
It’s in a great location and lobby is very nice with several places to sit comfortably.
The room had a small fridge and microwave but no coffeemaker (☹️).
Overall, a place I would stay at again definitely

Buried in the fine print of the reservation agreement, they have a surcharge that varies by day. I was given an estimate, but the actual charge was over 4x the estimate. The surcharge ended up being more than the rest of the hotel reservation. They should be upfront about their prices, because otherwise it was a decent hotel. Expedia should not give a platform to any hotel that is not up front about its pricing.

Valet took forever to park my vehicle, had it sitting in front of hotel for majority of the day I checked in, and when finally parked in a garage I get notification from my phone that the valet didn't even lock my car. So I had to lock it on my end. $75 for this type of service is ridiculous?! As I asked the hotel worker about it at the front desk he was very rude and inconsiderate and just brushed me off telling me he couldn't do anything about it. I asked to speak to a manager but wasn't in so I got his card and will be reaching out to him regarding the inconveniences during my stay here. Wouldn't stay here again.

The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the sink faucet was loose and the bed was made without fitted sheets and you could feel the mattress pad with your feet.

I had to get out of bed and try and pull the sheets down enough to cover the mattress pad.

I was transferred from the Magnificent Mile location to the Ambassador location due to it being full, and I requested a refund from the original location. At first, they claimed the charge wasn’t in their system. Later, they changed their explanation and said one charge was for the room and the other was for a package. This back-and-forth feels dishonest and unprofessional.

This experience has been extremely frustrating. I am still waiting for my **refund**, which should have been handled properly from the start. I would not recommend staying here—they lack transparency and can’t even be honest about their own billing.

I was charged an extra amount (more than the original that I paid) upon arrival and I’m not even sure what for but I needed a place to stay. They blamed Expedia for the miscommunication but I reached out to Expedia confirming things prior to my trip about an email I received about a rising price from the hotel and was told I will not upcharged, yet still was. I honestly don’t recommend. The elevator was also broken and it took up to 10+ mins just to get one sometimes.
