Stayed in the Bernard Shaw room. Well appointed, comfy bed, BUT the in room air conditioner was SO noisy surging on and off, sleep was impossible. Couldn’t open the window due to smoky air outside. Well located to walk into NOTL. Staff - one - not very friendly. Best thing about our stay: very cute family of Skunks entertained us as we sat on the verandah one evening,

We had a wonderful weekend at the Finlay House. Yvonne greeted us at the door and directed us to our spacious, immaculate room. Breakfast both days was excellent and we enjoyed reading on the porch. A bonus - we were just a short walk from the Shaw Festival's two stages.

We had a wonderful stay & Woolf he happy to stay again. Yvonne was a gracious host, serving a lovely hot breakfast each morning. I was traveling with my aunt who had some medically related needs and Yvonne made it clear she was there to help, gave us extra supplies and towels and made us feel so very welcome. She also shared her local knowledge of the area.
The inn itself was recently redecorated with lovely furnishings, art, and beautiful wallpapers. Our room (Bernard Shaw Room) was spacious and the bed was so comfortable! My aunt and I shared the oversized king that has a memory foam mattress which prevents one from noticing movement of the other - we slept like rocks!
The only improvement I might suggest would be better internet connection, but I wasn’t there to work so it was okay.
Beautifully done, quaint/updated, comfortable, great breakfasts, excellent host!

This was our second stay in the Oscar Wilde Room at the Finlay House and we would stay here again. The room is a good size with a small sitting area and large private bathroom. The room is clean, and with only one other room on the floor, very quiet. (Although, the portable air conditioner needed in the summer is noisy - but necessary.) It is walking distance to all of the main shopping and dining options in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The breakfast made fresh by our host was delicious and the price for our stay at the Finlay House very reasonable.

This was our first time at the Finlay House but it definitely won't be our last. The hospitality is wonderful. The accommodations and excellent breakfasts prepared by Yvonne are both excellent. We had a truly wonderful stay at Finlay House Bed and Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality from Yvonne the house manager was exceptional — warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay.

Our room was spotless, cozy, and full of charm, making it the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Every morning we looked forward to the absolutely delicious breakfasts she prepared — not only beautifully presented but made with care and attention to detail.

She also gave us fantastic suggestions for things to do and places to eat in the area, including Aura On The Lake, which ended up being one of our favourite dining experiences.

Finlay House itself is adorable, full of character, and incredibly cozy. One of the highlights was the large wrap-around balcony, which we thoroughly enjoyed during the quiet mornings and relaxing evenings. The location is perfect — just a short 5-minute walk to the main area, yet far enough to enjoy some peace and tranquility away from the bustle.

Overall, it was a truly enjoyable experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming and restful getaway in Niagara-on-the-Lake!

It was our managers third day but it seems like a great fit for her! Very good food, personable morning chats. Location was excellent - could easily walk to town and felt safe and easy. I was worried about the Shakespeare room because the bathroom is down the hall but since it was a first floor suite, and they had a curtain dividing the dining area, it actually felt fairly enclosed.

We had a great stay right in the heart of NOTL at the Finley House. My daughter and I loved our stay in the Bernard Shaw room with a private bathroom. The room was spotless and well appointed. Instructions on arrival were easy to follow. Breakfast in the morning was a real treat, homemade French toast, real Canadian maple syrup, bacon, orange juice, coffee and bananas. What a great way to end our stay. If you’re looking for a place to stay in NOTL I would highly recommended Finley House. I’d stay again.

For an establishment that is not specifically handicapped accessible, it was more accessible than many places I’ve been. That being said if you need accessible accommodations this is not the place to stay.

Upon entering, the house reeked of weed. Being allergic, I couldn't stop sneezing and blowing my nose! The room was nice, and the hosts were friendly. The \"continental breakfast\" was shameful though. For the amount that this place charges, maybe offer a plate of bacon and eggs? 3-day old croissants wrapped in plastic wrap, and make-it-yourself oatmeal is not what I consider a \"continental breakfast\".

In try own for the 2024 eclipse

I was staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake for the total eclipse but also to see “Witness for the Prosecution” at the Shaw Festival and to take a “Ghost Tour” of Fort George. The Finlay House is very conveniently located within walking distance of Lake Ontario and downtown Niagara-on the-Lake. That make my stay in town very enjoyable.

The only reservation I had was that the tv does not have regular tv channels. Everything is digital private stations.
Perhaps the majority do not care about that but I do stay in places where that is not the case.

I love the location of this property. Very convenient to downtown and theatre. Love the wrap around porch lovely spot to sit. enjoyed the seating area inside which is shared with others for breakfast but otherwise was ours to use outside our room. The one negative is that it was noisy. We could hear the people talking in the room above us and walking around. Not a huge issue except the first night was very noisy until after midnight.

Great location and lovely house. Room was large and bed comfortable. Had a few things in the room that needed repair...empty picture book and headboard not secured. Also had multiple extra pillows and spreads on the bed, which since COVID I even more uncomfortable with. We also found breakfast a bit odd. It was continental between 9 and 10 am and when I arrived down the other guests had pretty much cleaned out the buffet. The owners said we could ask for more items but that seemed a bit uncomfortable to us. Especially since the room was quite expensive.Also found a 10 am checkout to be a bit early for a Sunday am!

The house is very nice and the room a good size and comfortable. The location is excellent. However, because of a last minute emergency outside the host's control, the usual breakfast was not available. In my view the host did a poor job of compensating for that change. Although there was modest per night discount as a result, the lack of even coffee and tea was disappointing. There was an electric kettle in the common room, but there was no coffee, and no milk or sugar. There was a Keurig machine in our room, but the coffee and tea pods provided with it had already been used. When I texted the host about this, she said she would have someone get us replacement supplies, but that did not happen. I also did not receive a receipt indicating what I actually was charged for the stay.

Location is great and the room was lovely! Very clean and cozy! The mattress could be a bit better. Not overly comfortable. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a continental breakfast as expected (it was part of our 1 night stay). Also didn’t receive the unlock code for the room in advance. Thankfully Lillian (house keeping) was there to help!

Despite some downsides, I would stay again. I think these items can be easily corrected.

The Findlay House is conveniently walkable to shops and restaurants. The room was clean and quiet. The stay would have been better if it had a larger, more comfortable communal gathering space with a happy hour of wine and snacks. One of the best attractions of a bed and breakfast, at least for me, is meeting other travelers and chatting.

We stayed three nights, parked the car and walked everywhere as the location is within walking distance to the main (Queen) street, restaurants, theatres, shopping, and the lake.

Host, Julie, was very accommodating to our needs and preferences of two seniors, always available, very willing to help with any questions we had, offered to make reservations for us, and generally great to chat with. Breakfast was excellent!

We stayed in the Bernard Shaw room with an ensuite bathroom, very comfortable bed, several pillows to choose from, and all very clean.

We would definitely stay here again!

This BNB was absolutely wonderful, Julie is the sweetest host with a beautiful home. We enjoyed our stay as it was so comfortable it felt like home, it made us disappointed we only did the one night - but we definitely are coming back.

The neighborhood is perfect walking distance from the shops and restaurants and it was a very quiet area which I appreciated.

Gabrielle was very nice to everyone. Everything was very clean, we had the room on the first floor and it was quite comfortable for me and my husband. One night we heard someone on the second floor at around 3.30am, but it was not much of a bother to us. Everything was very nice, clean and comfortable.

We had a good stay at this property. We had the room with the King bed (two twins) and it was a good size and en-suite. It was up stairs and they were circular and tight for carrying luggage.
The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed visiting with the inn keeper. She gave us some local tips on the area especially restaurants.
The house was was within walking distance of the Main Street which was nice and free parking!
