THE HOTEL RULES ARE QUITE TOUGH. IF ONE ARRIVES BEFORE CHECK IN TIME @ 14:00 ONE CAN NOT USE THE POOL UPSTAIRS. EARLY CHECK IN COSTS 600 REAIS (£86.00 approx). RIP OFF!
I ASKKED TO LEAVE ONLY 30 MINUTES LATER AFTER CHECK OUT TIME AND WAS REFUSED. NOT TO MENTIONED THAT I HAD STAYED THERE PREVIOUSLY AND NOW I HAD STAYED LESS THAN 24:00HRS.
I HAD ALSO PAID MORE FOR THE ROOM BUT THE MATTRESS WAS VERY OLD.
NEVERTHELESS, THE STAFF ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND POLITE. THE LOCATION IS FANTASTIC.
I WOULD STAY AGAIN. 😍

False Advertisement & Worst Stay Ever

This hotel is nothing like the photos. The moment you walk in, it smells like mold, garbage, and old rugs. The furniture is extremely outdated, the hallways are dark and poorly lit, and the staff are either arrogant or completely unhelpful. When I asked for an upgrade, I was told this was “one of the best rooms they have.” Unbelievable.

There’s also a park around the corner that seems heavily occupied by homeless individuals, and the strong smell of urine and garbage drifts straight into the hotel.

The room was awful. The bed was literally on the floor, the mattress had springs sticking out, and it smelled bad. Bugs were coming through the loud, rattling AC. The floors were dirty. The mini fridge was rusty, peeling, and frozen solid inside. The bathroom was full of mold and mildew, rusty fixtures, and looked dirty even after being “cleaned.”

The pool water was green and filthy, the jacuzzi rusty and dirty, and the bar was dusty with empty bottles and no staff.

I was forced to stay because they don’t offer refunds. Otherwise, I would have left immediately — but leaving would have cost me double. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

I stay at the sixth floor and smell like wet dog. The pool was green when I arrive. There was an used man underwear in the closet. They don’t allow visit. The bed was uncomfortable. The A/C was loud. The only good thing I can give is the location in Copacabana, anymore.

The overnight male hotel receptionist named PAOLO was rude and unprofessional

He refused to let my friend come up the elevator just to retrieve his backpack from My room

Even though my EXPEDIA booking stated that up-to two guests were permitted under my booking, the hotel receptionist made a stink and wouldn't allow my buddy just to come up the elevator to get his backpack(!)

The receptionist made my friend wait in the lobby while I went upstairs and another hotel clerk followed me upto my room to get my friend's backpack

I have no idea why the hotel treated my friend as an intruder and behaved in such a manner

I am quite disappointed at this receptionist's behavior to say the least

The location cannot be beat. It is a bit dated but it was clean, loved the pool on top, and the price, especially during Carnival, was a steal. The staff at the front desk was crazy nice and helpful! We were VERY happy with our stay.

Very dated and run down hotel with mold growing on many surfaces and a bed mattress sinking and leaning due to use. Elevators buttons often didn’t work and would often result in randomly stopping at incorrect floors.

Oceano Copacabana Hotel DUMP NIGHTMARE

The hotel was not clean, in major disrepair, elevator did not function most of the time. When it did it was demon possessed and would not go to the correct floor. Our room was not clean, ball of hair left in the shower, floors dirty, night staff was rude, especially the english speaking man with black glasses, would not let a friend of ours visit us in our room because he has something against him. The safe in our room did not work so there was not secure place to keep valuables, air conditioner made a lot of noise, breakfast was ok, eggs always runny and room temp, TV did not work in the room had to wait for it to be fixed, no hot water for three days in the shower during our stay, WIFI what a nightmare did not work 90% of the time. You had to stand at the door of the room to get a strong enough signal.

The location is great, half a block from the beach. The staff is very helpful. The hotel feels secure. The AC unit was making noise but in some ways I got used to it and helped me sleep. It was not a big deal. I was on vacation so I enjoyed every single day in the city not matter the circumstances. The roof top view is really nice, very relaxing.

On Expedia, under \"Highlights\" they listed, TV, AC, Daily housekeeping, Private bathroom, Safe, etc.

When I ask them for the code to use the safe, they want me to pay a fee. I told them that they highlighted it. Their response was, yeah we have it, but if you want to use it you have to pay. This is ridiculous, do I have to pay to use the bathroom too? BTW there was no housekeeping 3 days. I got an email from Expedia about the situation. Then, magically the hotel want to clean my room. I didn't ask about, but I think that Expedia team got involved, that was the reason why I got the room cleaning.

Anyway, assume they will charge for everything unless they say that it is free ........

Only spent 2 nights.. The good first.. Hotel is on a side street to the beach.. And right next to a park also.. Staff was great.. Breakfast was decent.. Instant Hot water with really good pressure.. Sheets and room was clean.. They give you a discount coupon for a restaurant around block that is a buffet.. It was also good.. But the Rodizio across the street from it was superb.. Easy walk to beach.. And Uber, taxi, and rental bikes are easier to get out front.. Also.. The roof area is amazing view with nice little pool area and hot tub (wasnt hot) there is also a sauna that is really hot.
The bad parts.. My room had electric issue.. lamps by bed and 4 of the over head lights did not work.. There is an extra cost to use the safe.. A/C is a window style unit in the wall and buzzed a bit loudly.. This is an older hotel and in truth was expected, so i can not complain to much cause the price was right for it.. Plenty of pubs, and restaurants within walking to check out..

Lovely people work at Hotel Oceano but the facilities are not well looked after and in desperate need of a renovation.

We had a terrible experience starting with a delayed check in and followed by a room covered in sand. Never did get properly cleaned. The pool has an overwhelming smell of urine. The bathrooms in the lobby are a disaster requiring one to hold their breath and pray. The elevators have a mind of their own and no safety precautions allowing them to close, for example on our 3 year old scaring her half to death. The continental breakfast is OK but the same 1 star rating as the hotel. The internet is a joke and doesn’t work. However the staff seems not surprised and tried to gaslight the user into believing there is no problem. The electricity saving measures are both ineffective and compromise safety by ensuring the halls are dark. The air conditioner cools the room after several hours but cannot be left on when not in the room, it is also insanely loud.

In summary, stay away.

First day the hotel receptionist told us that they need to charge extra around US $ 70 for the tax since we paid the hotel but no tax, actually we paid around US$140 per room per night, and total we paid over US$820 for 2 rooms and 3 nights , so end up after tax , we paid around US$ 900. However the condition and service of this hotel are very poor, not like the price we paid. The 1st night the whole hotel’s water system had problems, we didn’t have warm water and couldn’t flush the toilet. We complained but nothing was fixed. We only use old water for shower and the toilet was stinky whole night. The next day my son sons complained their beds were so bad and the bed were sank down when they were sleeping on, they got back hurt and couldn’t sleep well. They requested to change the beds and they agreed. However they still refused to change on the last day, until my son was very angry and required the refund, finally they changed a room for them. This was our worst experience in our life.

So many other options for 2 bucks more per night..

I booked this kne for the price and location and the fact there was a pool. Had I known I would have gone for some even cheaper a block away with no pool but way cleaner and more organized. The only up was the breakfast and two or three people that worked in the breakfast buffet. The rest of the employees in the front desk behaved like they were making you a favor. As soon as I entered the room it smelled so bad as cigarette I immediately went downstairs for them to change it. The towels had to be begged downstairs to be changed as they never did, all they did was to do the beds, the pool is ridiculously disgusting and small and the access is after hundreds of stairs so if you are old, cannot do stairs or in a wheelchair forget about it... really not worth it.

hotel on Copacabana

I stayed one day. it was very close to Copacabana. I came at 1:30 pm and I was not checked in until 3 pm. I received offer the use the pool at 15th floor, which worked for me. Hotel is in fair condition, older. The linen on the bed was very thin and the pillow cover had holes. People at the front desc were friendly and one of assistant at the door used his own cell phone to get me Uber to the airport which was very nice of him.

It is like a motel in U.S, but breakfast is OK, some fresh fruits, a lot of breads, better then U.S continental breakfast. The view on top of roof is fantastic. You could see beach, and sugar loaf. There was a dip pool and jacuzzi on top of roof. I was on 11th floor, as soon as you get off elevator there was darkness, until you walk to certain section the light will on. It is save money place (from airport to this hotel cost R$ 15 by Air Conditioned bus) Room per night was R$ 228.

Rio is Amazing; the Oceano Hotel...is not! Don't believe the pictures, this hotel is bare bones, has a rude staff, and charges you nickels and dimes for everything (even the \"free wifi\" as advertised by hotels.com was not free, despite showing the idiotic staff the email saying so. The hotel is ok, air conditing only works when your key is in the room, tiny pool, etc. For a few dollars more I highly recommend going somewhere else.

Bad again, hotel staff at counter very rude. Do not help in anything, we asked them please to print our boarding pass and they answered that they could not help. We booked transfer for the airport the day before we leaved and it never apperared, we had to look for a taxi at 4.am which is dangerous.
Hotel conditions are bad. Air conditioning makes noise and does not cool, bathroom door had a por condition, lavatory was badly cleaned, it had fungus. Matress was too old and extremely soft and pumpy

Hotel de razoável para ruim.
A vista do quarto era para os fundos de outros apartamentos, a internet péssima, raramente funcionava no quarto, a limpeza não existiu em 1 semana de hospedagem, somente trocavam as toalhas e mais nada, para usar o cofre do quarto era cobrado 20 reais por dia, um absurdo e o colchão da cama extremamente mole e desconfortável.

O hotel é bem simples e funcional. Faltam algumas manutenções. Pra quem só vai dormir é bem justo. Não tem muito conforto e algumas manutenções deixam a desejar. Mas pelo valor e a localidade é recomendado. Bem central e perto do metrô. A rua do hotel tem uma boa estrutura de bar, farmácia, restaurante e lanches.

Os funcionários são extremamente atenciosos e estava tudo muito limpinho. O que incomoda um pouco é o ar condicionado que é antigo e barulhento.
Apenas um ponto no café da manhã, os sucos estavam aguados e não deu para tomar nenhum dia, acredito que a culpa não seja do pessoal da cozinha, pois eram muito atenciosos, pode ser alguma orientação de um superior. Apenas o suco poderia melhorar :)

Existe uma taxa no check out de 300 reais caso vc não saia antes das 11h, porém não avisaram no check-in apenas tem uma placa na mesa da recepção.

Um senhor com o qual eu fiz o check-in pareceu que não demonstrou satisfação em eu estar ali. Ao contrário dos demais, ele deminstrava muita seriedade para comigo em todos os dias que me hospedei. Já os outros da recepção sempre sorridentes e satisfeitos. Achei o quarto espaçoso, limpo e com tudo dentro do esperado. Já o café da manhã, mesmo sendo farturoso, é muito repetitivo. A mesma coisa todos os dias. Sucos artificiais e muito ralos, aguados.

O atendimento do hotel é bom e a localização em Copacabana também é muito boa. Porém, o hotel tem muitas coisas antigas e desgastadas. O frigobar/geladeira é bem feio e o suporte onde ele fica no quarto é muito pequeno e aparenta estar bem gasto.

As camas são antigas e os colchões estão velhos, o que prejudica o conforto. A piscina também precisa de melhorias. A banheira de hidromassagem na parte de cima não estava funcionando, estava suja e sem água.

Além disso, o ar-condicionado fazia muito barulho. No geral, o hotel precisa de uma reforma completa para melhorar a estrutura e oferecer uma experiência mais agradável aos clientes. Minha recomendação é que invistam em melhorias para aumentar a satisfação e as avaliações.

The room was poor, there were insects in the bathroom, the AC was så loud it was hard to sleep. The pool ok the roof was dirty and uninviting, the bar by the pool ok the roof is not in use anymore despite an add in the elevator saying it is. The staff was nice and the breakfast was nice

Inabitável! Ar-condicionado velho, não suficiente pro calor do Rio, hotel precário! Comida do café da manhã incomestível, chuveiro ruim, vaso vazando água! Um único elevador funcionando em altíssima temporada! Ainda tive de pagar um valor exorbitante para receber maquiador no quarto.
A única estrela fica para os funcionários da recepção e lobby, muito simpáticos e solícitos para resolver o que está dentro do alcance deles!

Registro minha insatisfação com a hospedagem no hotel, onde permaneci por cinco dias. A experiência ficou muito aquém do mínimo esperado e do padrão que o hotel aparenta oferecer.
•O check-in às 14h é aplicado de forma rígida, sem qualquer flexibilidade ou cordialidade no atendimento.
•A água quente simplesmente não funcionava pela manhã nem à noite; em um dos dias fui obrigado a tomar banho frio por falta de tempo.
•O ar-condicionado do quarto é excessivamente barulhento, inviabilizando um descanso adequado.
•Nos horários de pico, apenas um elevador funciona, gerando esperas superiores a 15 minutos.
•O café da manhã com pães duros, bolos solados diariamente e falta recorrente de utensílios básicos.
•A limpeza é claramente deficiente: banheiro com limo, mofo no teto, frestas no box com vazamento, ducha higiênica suja e cabelos presentes durante toda a hospedagem.
•A limpeza dos quartos não segue qualquer padrão, variando a cada dia.
•A iluminação dos corredores é insuficiente, com sensores que frequentemente não funcionam, deixando os andares no escuro.
•As toalhas de banho são extremamente finas e velhas.
•A área da piscina encontrava-se visivelmente suja, inclusive a própria piscina.

Permanecei até o fim da hospedagem apenas porque as diárias já estavam integralmente pagas e não havia possibilidade de reembolso.

Todos os problemas relatados são falhas de operação e manutenção.

Único ponto positivo é a localização!
Hotel com instalações antigas, forte cheiro de mofo, ar condicionado antigo e barulhento.
Cafe da manhã com opções limitadas.
Apenas um elevador com capacidade para 6 pessoas funcionando, isso pra um hotel com 15 andares.

Funcionários do hotel muito receptivos e dispostos a nos ajudar, bom café da manhã e conta com piscina e ofurô.
O quarto estava limpo e organizado, atedeu às nossas expectativas.

Quarto sem limpar por 3 dias seguidos, acabaram as toalhas do hotel, alguns da recepção rude com hospedes. Luz queimada no banheiro, abajur quebrado no quarto. Cofre nao funcionava.

A única coisa boa do hotel foi a localização e os atendentes da recepção
Hotel nada agradável,cama horrível molas do colchão saindo pra fora,café da manhã com alimentação nada fresca nem colher não conseguiam repor,teve um momento que até sem toalha de banho ficamos pois não tinham toalha limpa,desorganização total.
Não recomendo.

O Cardápio do Café da manhã era bem limitado... Hotel não oferece serviço de bar, e nem água ou qualquer outra coisa conseguimos consumir por falta de sistema operacional em funcionamento, segundo um dos funcionários do hotel.
